Very sweet and fulfilling, good to watch with family

A 50-min movie tells a very consistent story that's easy to follow, there's no irrelevant info and the pace is just right. This isn't something made for the sake of fujoshis but rather a heartwarming story that you definitely can and should watch with your family or friends. The way the social issues are addressed is quite a rarity in Japanese media (not so much in the West maybe but still) so I'm pleasantly surprised to find a work like this.
The visuals and the lighting are really good and well-thought, almost surpring for such a low-budget project. My only problem was the acting that seemed a bit dry here and overly sentimental there - reminded me of older cheap dramas full of overacting. The story is also not that interesting because you can predict literally half of it from the start, but it still has a hearwarming message so you can easily ignore those drawbacks.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'd be motivated enough to ever rewatch it alone, but I might show it to my family or friends who don't enjoy your average BL content.

Park Eun Bin and Choi Myung Bin saved the ship!

During the Joseon dynasty, the crown princess consort secretly gives birth to a girl and boy twins. While the boy will eventually inherit the throne, Confucianism values really condemn twins especially if it was a boy and a girl because they just don't think a man who shared a womb with a woman will have legitimacy. Therefore to protect the prince's future legitimacy, the King orders that the girl and everyone involved with the childbearing be put to death so no one knows about this situation. To protect the girl, her mother fakes her death and cast her way to live out her life in the countryside. Many years later, this girl the female twin ended up taking her brother's identity as the young prince because an incident killed the prince. The only people who now know her secret are her chief servant and her personal eunuch.

I have quite a lot of pros and the first is the portrayal of every character, especially our female lead. Her charisma and deep voice make it very believable, she is just like a very pretty boy in her prince costume. Although her figure is very slim and her small arm is very obvious she gives a lot of confidence with only just a cold stare. The only thing that I think could have made it better is if they did something to hide how short she is she really is because the height difference between her and her male lead co-stars is really noticeable.

Next, the pacing because overall I think it's very good, I'm completely absorbed by every episode up until probably episode 8. The child actors and actresses are doing a great job to make me emotionally invested right from the first episode. The child actress who played the twins, Choi Myung Bin, really shines in her roles! She pulled out the duality between the different twins' characters very naturally. Another pro is the OSTs are hauntingly beautiful, my favorite is "The One and Only", and "Shadow of You".

My con is mostly on the romance plot dominates the middle part of the story. I am not as engaged and I think that's because of the romance. Even though the romance is beautiful and I ship the couple, it is very heavy-handed and slow-paced. I'm watching the show because I really like our female lead and I want to see her navigate situations and crises, like her dealing with the envoy from China, fighting her grandfather's dictatorship, and keeping her secret. I think they are the strength of this series not so much the romance. Lastly, the action scenes are done incredibly well, but they're so sparse so I wish they are less melodramatic and had more action scenes.

She's an enigma, she finds it difficult to understand.

Enigma= Dope series! ?

Win's appearance made this more enchanting and mesmerizing. Oth Prim is definitely one of the brightest actor of GMMTV! She's small in appearance but her presence was vividly trenchant. I'm rooting for her future.

Before this series I had very little idea of Win's capability of acting because Together series didn't met my expectations, but But after Enigma I became a fan of Win.

Just because it was a 4 episode series that doesn't mean it lack depth, they gave depth and purpose of the characters just the right amount. The visual, the suspence, the noir vibe made this series exceptionally remarkable and outstanding which will leave you wanting more.

Good Enough

Korean Drama " See You in my Nineteenth Life " is a fantasy melodrama with a cute spin to it.

The drama combined perfectly comedy with a more melodramatic mood when it came to the characters, their past and their struggles.

The story, in addition, is nicely paced, with the romance being enjoyable to watch, though predictable. The side couple were adorable though.

But the highlight of the drama is the main female lead. She was excellent as always and she proved once again that she can transform into any character she is given to flesh out.

However, there were some plotlines that got boring to follow. But the ending was unique.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

Good Enough

Korean Drama " Revenant" is a horror mystery thriller with some folklore elements.

The movie is a psychological thriller with a mystery that is slowly unfold and an intriguing story. And though the start of the drama is slow and kind of boring, the drama picks up later on and the story gets more and more dark as it progress.

The performances were pretty great and the chemistry between the three main ones was enjoyable. The characters were pretty intriguing as well and kept things interesting even when the main plot got druggy.

Finally, the CGI was pretty great and enjoyable enough. The ending was also masterfully handled and just right for the story.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

Not Good Enough

Korean Drama " Delightfully Deceitful " is a crime thriller comedy about a con artist and an attorney coming together to punish those who think they are above any law.

The drama does start out strongly, with the story of the main female lead being compelling and her character even more so. And truly, there were some con cases that were handled nicely and the result was enjoyable.

However, the drama quickly deteriorates, getting boring and falling into way too many tropes. Things got out of hand quite quickly and the plot got even more confusing and stuffy.

The performances at least were enjoyable.

So, overall, three out of ten.

Good Enough

Korean Drama " D.P. Season Two " is the sequel to the high praised D.P. and it does live up to its first season.

The drama has a thrilling story, full of suspense, and offers a lot of interesting subplots to follow, which combines them well with the main story as well as gives them all an ending.

This time around, the drama also takes a deeper dive into the main character, giving more information about him, as well as bringing him forward and letting him make his own decisions.

The performances were also pretty enjoyable and everyone handled their character masterfully.

Finally, the cinematography of the drama was just right for the story.

So, overall, eight and a half out of ten.

"우리 엄마 나한테 한번도 예쁘단 말을 해준 적이 없거든."

Happiness for the two young lesbians!
?One of a few dramas that go beyond just "everybody wants to look like idols, teenagers are suicidal, and social media is bad". The story unleashes its full potential with all ways and underlying reasons to get respect and acceptance in a society. There is much more violence in the world than school bullying, and disregard is another contributing part of it.

The identity of the actress Lee Han Byeol who played the first Kim Mo Mi was revealed on a press conference just before the premiere. That's quite an interesting move, also considering that this role is her debut, and she absolutely nailed it! I hope to see her more and I hope that Korean entertainment industry will slowly shift its unflinching standards of beauty.

?I've been waiting for this drama for about a year, and hell it paid off! I just love how Kim Wan Seon's electrifying "Dance in the Rhythm" contributes to the energy of the show. Wasn't it in Reply 1988 too? My favorite song of her has been "Let's forget it", but looks like I'm about to change the favs.

I absolutely loved the episode about Mi Mo and her friend, both the writer and the young actress made such an amazing hedgehog-like strong personality who desperately needs love, protection, and understanding. ?

Overall, the drama felt like the mix of Celebrity and The Glory, talking both about popularity and revenge. The amazing actress Yeom Hye Ran who also performed in The Glory made me want to murder her character so bad. ?

This is a long-awaited series for me. About something that is very popular on the internet, streaming. The main role is a streamer who streams outside of work hours. Otherwise, I would like to say that this is a very different office drama, she gets along well with some colleagues. However, she has an inferiority complex, does not appreciate her own appearance and some others do not either.

As a person, she tries to solve her complex by hiding her face when she streams. She is well known and very popular, has many followers and viewers. Much of this can be recognized in series such as shadow beauty and true beauty by having a different character on the outside, in public that people don't know about. However, it does not solve all her problems, there is so much more going on in her private life. Her streaming character behind the mask is a so-called ''yeocam'', dancing a lot to well-known songs with some sexual allusions.

You get to see a short part of her upbringing about what has shaped her as a person. For those of you who have seen Celebrity, will recognize something about the celebrity. This one is much rougher and better in my opinion, more violent and less predictable. Also has the just mentioned a lot more of this more in this one that I missed in Celebrity. The focus of the series is not only on her, there are some important supporting roles that have their part in the plot. These people are also important. Some are looking for her, others want to help.

There are clear time markers when all events take place, so it's easy to keep up. Perceives the series as very mysterious and comical, while her life can be tragic at times. At the same time, it can be absurd, quirky and crazy at the same time. Dark humor with a little noir feel, filled with a certain amount of sadism and revenge. Can also be experienced as mentally ill in the style of Parasite in its ways. Much that happens in unexpected ways. The music is very good, at the same time we get to see and hear her dancing to old kpop hits sometimes. Some soundtracks are a bit reminiscent of the Squid game. Well written and provocative with its content. Everything fits in 7 episodes. Very interesting!!!!!!!

The trio's friendship makes it really fun to watch, but I have my complaints!

The head chef in modern-day Seoul fell into a pool, hit his head and went into a comma. He wakes up in the body of a soon-to-be Joseon Queen right in the middle of the palace scheming dangerous plots and meets a king who hides dark secret.

Mr. Queen is poking fun at sageuks with good intentions, it's clearly coming from the love for the genre. Production-wise, everything looks nice, the costumes look nice. Fans of palace politics will find this to be refreshing as they'll probably get a kick out of many moments, while viewers like me who shy away from the heavy-politics will find this to be fun. The palace intrigue is not innovative in general, it deals with two powerful clans fighting over throne, but the pacing is fast, so it sets up its stage very well.

Mr. Queen is portrayed by the magnificent Shin Hye Sun. She's an actress but she's man spreading really well so I'll use 'He'. Even if he looks like a playboy, he's so kind towards his female servants. Their friendships are wholesome and provide a lot of comedy. The trio plays off of one another so well that both the parodies and serious plot real good.

I think the first 6 episodes have nailed the sweet spot. The comedy is landing for me, it's rare for me to appreciate funnies from a k drama that is intending to be funny since I'm leaning much more toward the comedy from quiet and situational moments. Also, the infusion of modern music is adding to the comedy as it fits our male lead's background as a modern-day man, so there is one scene where he's dancing to a Black Pink song and I thought that was just hilarious.

While the comedy really worked in the first 6 episodes when the stakes hadn't developed very much, as those stakes get higher and higher, the comedy starts to feel really misplaced. It feels like an intense story is being told and then it breaks into a funny scene suddenly, so it wasn't as natural for me who prefers fewer funnies that suit the situation. The way it's presented feels very rhythmic like they switch back to back between an intense scene and the next comedy. Well, this show is supposed to be a comedy so I can give it a pass, that's not that big of a deal.

(Spoiler part) The biggest issue that I had was the subliminal problematic messages in the drama.

I would have preferred Mr. Queen and the King to develop a friendship and mutual respect. As this is a story about a woman being possessed by a man's spirit, I didn't expect Mr. Queen to have romantic feelings towards the King because he isn't perceived as gay. My problem is that this show is showing that hormonal arousal determines your sexual orientation. It's jarring to see a man who never had any gay thoughts would be so influenced by female hormones to switch his sexual orientation.

I think the romance plot does not benefit the plot at all, it has very little consequence on the story, in a way if it is excluded, things would end up the same with our characters. When Mr. Queen goes back to his male body, he's happy that the King is fine and safe. But there's no indication that he's heartbroken or romantically lost something, pointing to the fact that the romance was really unnecessary. Although back in the past, the King mentions that he felt something is lost but he's still with his queen, he does not notice at all that the queen's personality has changed! It's like downplaying characters' personalities and identities over the body that they're born with being the most important thing in a romance and relationship. It kind of derailed the show for me and hence the ending left a sour aftertaste.

currently watching this…

I like the main lead (guy) and I’m quite irked with the female lead… just give me stalkerish vibes and a little bit annoying, but her best friend/classmate, she’s really pretty in my opionion, and has more depth in character, I do like her way better than the female lead. watching it because base on the reviews it’s a nice sweet drama. so let’s see if I’ll continue watching it or will just eventually drop this, by far my favorite c-dramas are love O2O, lost you forever, put your head on my shoulder. I enjoyed watching I hear you, and some of shen Yuen’s series..

Something's a Little Off

So seeing that this has a pretty high rating and nothing but positive comments, I feel a little bad going into this review. For whatever reason, I didn't really like it. Didn't hate it, thought it was a cutesy little series, but something was off, and I'm not sure how to explain it.

Let's Dive In.

So during my watch of the first episode, I was pretty elated with this series. The lead is fucking adorable, the setup of his origin story is cruel yet intriguing to see how it'll go. And the more we get into the series, the more my interest just slowly starts to fade. By the end, I was just skimming through the last few episodes to see what happens. I don't know why my enjoyment deescalated, to be honest. I don't want to say it was boring cause I don't think it was that, so my conclusion for now is that it's just one of those series that just wasn't for me.

Now, one thing I can point out that annoyed me (and this is all based on my taste), is so much fucking singing. And I get it, it's literally in the title, but some scenes were like minutes long of just singing. Beautiful voice, but urgh, I don't know, show it don't sing it.

But the leads were really cute. They had some great connection and their kisses were even more than decent. But Baram's back and forth was absolute insanity and I wanted to pull my hair out. It's obvious that Hantae likes him, even says it straight to his face, albeit drunk but still, Baram can't believe that Hantae could like him. And then once Baram confesses to Hantae and he acts all shocked and confused as if he hasn't been all over Baram like a dog on a bone *rolls eyes*. Back and forth just aggravated me and we could've focused more on their relationship than them running around in circles.

Other than that, I loved the side characters, I loved the plagiarism aspect of the series and its resolution, I liked seeing Baram stand up against Sangmin, and again, Baram and Hantae's moments were so fucking cute.

Ratings;

Story: 7/10 - Some aspects don't resonate with me all too well. Some parts are a bit dragged out and I don't like the back-and-forth between Hantae and Baram. Other than that, the plagiarism plot was well thought out and the scenes with the main leads were always nice.

Acting: 9/10 - Oh they can ACT, for sure! Doyoon (Baram) was amazing in this role, I do hope to see him again.

Music: 7/10 - he had a good voice for sure!

Recommendation Value: 5/10 - Like I said, this wasn't the series for me. Too much singing, lots of cat and mouse chasing, and some other weird stuff. But it's not terrible and this is definitely the series for somebody.

What does high school mean to you? What does youth mean to you?

As someone who is turning 30 soon, I haven't watched youth dramas in a while. This is the only youth drama that truly touched my heart and brought me back to my high school days. First of all, our main couple is the perfect example of extroverted girl and introverted boy which I really liked. The ML doesn't really talk much but every time he looks at her, you can just tell how much he is in love with her. Our FL may seem a bit clingy at first, but in reality she is just a 16 year old who has fallen in love for the first time, so her actions are understandable. While watching the drama, I found her so adorable and I was drawn in by her confidence and strong sense of morals. She knows what is right and wrong and she will stick to her principles, even if that means standing up for herself in scary situations.

If I were to visualize their relationship, the FL is like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our ML went through a lot because of his uncaring and biased parents and he lived in darkness for a long time. However, our FL shined a light through that dark tunnel and our ML was finally able to find the way out of the darkness. For our FL, our ML is like a solid rock. There is a saying in the Bible that basically says a house built on a rock is the most sturdy because it will never fall. When the winds come, when the rains fall, the house will stay firm because it is built on a rock. In the Bible, this rock is referring to Jesus. In the drama, whenever our FL goes through hardships and difficulties in life, she can always lean on her rock, which is the ML and because of him she can stay strong.

I loved all of our side characters as well. I honestly wasn't expecting to be so invested in the second couple because at first Gu Ran was really annoying. However, the moment Gu Ran fell in love with Jia Jia, everything changed. He suddenly went from self absorbed to kind, caring, sweet and even selfless. The moment when Gu Ran pushed Jia Jia towards her crush so that he could confess, even though Gu Ran was dying on the inside, showed me how this guy was a real gentleman and someone who truly cared. When they finally got together, I'm sure we all cheered for them and said FINALLY!

Moving on, I have such a soft spot for Guan Fang. Seriously, Guan Fang and his grandma made me cry so much and it made me miss my grandma. When I watched the Youtube clips of this drama, I was thinking that Guan Fang would be the happy-go-lucky guy, the clown of this group. I wasn't expecting his backstory, that he was beating people up and getting beat up. That he was the outcast at school and both the students and the teacher didn't like him. My heart went out for him because I am also a person who looks very happy on the outside but I have a lot of sadness and suffering on the inside. Deep in my heart, I hope that Guan Fang and his grandma will live happily ever after in dramaland.

Last but not least, I love this drama because it reminded me of my high school days and in a way, transported me back. The good memories, the laughter, the simple days of chatting in the hallways, hanging out at a friend's house after school, getting bubble tea together. All of these memories came back to me and it made me wishing for, longing for simpler days. It also made me reminisce my high school friendships. Although I don't keep in touch with most of my high school friends, the good memories are there and they will always be there.

I hope that this drama will be a source of joy, hope and encouragement to whoever watches it. For me, it was like a hug on a rainy day. This drama reminds me that although many days are tough and there is so much suffering in the world, when I go home I know that I can get a hug from my loved one and everything will be alright. Sending love and positivity to whoever had the patience to read this whole review. We all deserve to love and to be loved.

Disgusting display of LGBTQ RELATIONSHIPS

This series is a conservative propaganda film on LGBTQ relationships. This is wrongly labeled as GL but the LGBTQ relationships displayed in this series are predatory and based on sexual trauma. The main character (Roithongsai) views her adopted sisters romantic interest as perverse and sexually deviant. I'm not saying LGBTQ people can't be sexually deviant. We certainly have examples of it in Hollywood (Kevin Spacey).

But this whole idea that the main protagonist (Rangrong) is only attracted to woman because of sexual trauma. And that LGBTQ relationships are framed as being predatory and manipulative is a conservative narrative, and plainly stupid.

I think the woman who wrote this was in her 80's? Go figure! Tbf there was some good acting by the cast. But the story line of this whole series was a disappointment from beginning till end. Roithongsai even marries a man in the end. DISGUSTING!!

Lesbians SKIP THIS DOG SH*T!!
