Well Written-- Best 'Costume' Cdrama Of 2023

Top-notch story aesthetics, unlimited flow of scripts, and super sweet light comedy--Love You Seven Times became one of my favorite dramas this 2023. The scenes are beautiful, the makeup and costumes are beautiful, the special effects are cool, and the OST is super nice. Every single song is worthy of being played on repeat! The plot has a tight rhythm and a lot of details. The acting skills of all the casts are top-notch, especially Ding Yuxi. His acting skills are delicate, layered and immersive, and he perfectly interprets the role of Chu Kong. And Actually This is the first time I have watched a drama about Chaoyue, and I feel that her acting skills are not as bad as they said, and she is still very good but yes she needs to work with it a little more but it's still not bad....

My Highlight Comment✨
There may be many parts/stories about immortal kings and fairies, and about going to mortal world to have tribulations, but Qi Shi's script is a unique infinite flow loop, which is very interesting and innovative! it made this drama more interesting! I'll definitely miss Them?

It's a mature, non-cliche, no-break-up drama.

I love sports dramas! I can't believe it is over, felt like reading a feel-good book.

"to never give up, and never give in. No matter the challenges, we must have the ability to overcome them independently." (In sports, In love)

It's a mature, non-cliche, no-break-up drama. I guess it is a rarity and unexpected from C-drama. Initially, I was skeptical about student-coach romantic relationships but boy! I was wrong. The story evolved naturally, no rush. OST is smooth not too much.
1. Amazing chemistry from the first episode.
2. Acting is top-notch, both ML & FL. He really nailed a 20-year-old's raw emotions. FL the maturity she brought to the character is amazing. Definitely one of her best shows.
3. The skinship and love relationship is smooth and enjoyable.
4. Not the usual c-drama.

Wonderful show which flopped its' ending

If you have seen your fair share of rom-coms, this is going to feel very typical especially in the first episode, while they're establishing the characters well. With all that said, there is magic in the script: I feel like the writers want to say about fandom culture or they at least want to touch on it because they represent the fandom culture not only positively, that it's a community, it's a way to bond with people in a way to support the artists you love, but also some of the negative sides which is obsessive tendencies and how those can lead to crossing the line and becoming a stalker. I really love how the writers are balancing the whole fandom culture exploring many different facets of it.

The show's big problem that really turned me off was near the end when the show started to focus primarily on the male lead's past and how that connects in such a dramatic way with the female lead. I thought the writers of the show really lost sight of what the show was about and I was hoping the show should have focused more on the fandom side of things because, in the end, the fact that she is a super fan doesn't contribute a lot to the main story, and I was quite disappointed because the portrayal of fandom culture and a commentary on fandom culture part is the thing that I was very excited to watch.

Overall, I really enjoyed Her Private Life, I think it has many wonderful qualities loved the characters, and I love the interactions between the characters. The romance is incredibly mature and I love how they support each other, it is wonderful. All the leads and the side characters, everybody is perfectly cast and doing a wonderful job. The leads have such strong chemistry together. This is a show you could very happily binge or at least I was very happy to binge.

I would recommend Her Private Life to you if you like shows like What's Wrong with Secretary Kim. They both have the same female lead, and she's great in both of them as well as The Liar and His Lover or Touch Your Heart. So if you liked any of those three shows I would give this one a chance.

I hope there should be 2nd season otherwise it was useless to watch it .

With the starting of the story it was clearcut that both the child would be ended up together and I also felt like they but as soon as the story progressed some another story had started . First due to an accident they separated with eachother ,girl child since childhood faced a hardship which can't be imaginable where as boy childhood also faced hardship but on comparing with girl ,it was nothing. As they started living separated life . With time his life was in ease whereas hers in disguised. Then entry of another man in her life actually she saved him from danger so he lived with her and slowly slowly they coming closed together ,he started liking her but still she was confused before she realises anything third man already entered into her life . She fall in love with second man but all three loved her . I respect her love story but the way story connected other two men with her emotionally I always felt bad for other two especially the first one. But the way story ended I didn't realised it had good or bad ending . I hope there should be 2nd season otherwise it was useless to watch it .

A Pleasant Watch

A lovely, and enjoyable series. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. I loved that the love story does something different with a love between a doctor and a motorbike rider. Mork (Fluke) was stunning and great to watch, and his smile and dimple were too endearing.

Uncle Cheep's and Dej's relationship was another enjoyable couple even with their constant banter. And Mayom was pretty great. I loved the consistency his character had. Fueang and his other two buddies and Mayom's assistant, provided us just the right amount of comic relief, and the OST grew on me after just the first episode that I wouldn't skip any intro just to hear it.

That being said, there were sides to it that make me give it an 8 and no more. Por and Tawan's dragged on relationship was something I wish had been introduced as an established relationship because it really was barely anything for it to drag on the way it did. And it took away time that could have been used more on Mork and Tawan's developing relationship. Mork and Tawan's relationship fell into just a few episodes and felt too short and too sudden that I wasn't really convinced.

This kiss, too. I don't care for "touch our lips together and call it a kiss" kisses so having to see it twice (even if one was just an imagination) was way too much. It's gives off more "uncomfortable" vibes than "we are in love."

The other doctor couple, Toy and Boss, didn't leave me invested in their relationship. The teasing may have been meant to come off to the audience as cute, but to me it was just Toy being annoying. There were instances I couldn't see it as anything other than blatant disrespect for someone's boundaries. Toy was just a jerk, but apparently that's what Boss was into so.

MASTERPIECE

I don't even know where to begin with this drama. The plot is the best one I've ever encountered, it has so much to say and in a perfect storyline from the first to the last scene. As a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope I assure you in this show it's delivered in the best way possible. The music is absolutely breathtaking, one of the most beautiful and touching OSTs. Every scene has the song it needs to have. There's laughing, there's crying at 3 am in front of your screen, there's suspense, there's an unhealthy amount of butterflies for this extraordinary chemistry and the most perfect kisses I've seen on TV. Most importantly you get to realize so much deep stuff about life and death and humanity. I love this to the point where I don't want to watch another drama for some time.

commercial success, American school & mature casting

I am a fan of mature casting, but this one didnt really suit the topic... I mean, you cannot cast mature people to act like teen sensation or something.
The director certainly has studied American school so he/she engaged a lot of ANTI-TROPES (which is, the new tropes) just to make it shocking and entertaining - which i dont mind at all - but i wonder if he/she brought anything original or personal to it. Still IT IS dynamic, modern, easy to watch...
The ML and FL and the SML and all the cast are certainly great actors, but i somehow doubt this drama was made with sincerity... i mean, it's more like a show to bring fame and cash flow.
I totally hate shows that blacken the media and depict it like blood-suckers that feed on high-life scandals... Isnt it more like a love-hate relationship where celebrities are made through publicity and gossip?
Nice drama all in all, as long as you dont mind that the puppets' ropes are showing.
SIDE NOTE: The ML reminds me big time of the player guy in The Glory, maybe the haircut and acting style? And the ML's friend, with his locks, looks so much like Filipino actor in Fan Girl...

A fun representation of all of K drama classic tropes

Kim Mi Soo is a capable secretary of a narcissistic vice president of a family-owned company, Lee Young Joon. After 9 years of working diligently for him, Mi So now wants to resign to focus on her personal life & romance. But twist, Lee Young Joon actually finds her presence irreplaceable in his life.

Now, there are a few other layers of convoluted messy chilhood connections happening with the show, as expected by the K-drama formula, but I'm not going to touch on those because they could be considered as spoiler. And if you want to know a bit more about the show, you can just watch the trailer, which will give a bit more information about the plot setup than I just gave. I'm going to go right into my pros and cons briefly as I should be doing schoolwork.

Pros:
- Fun and entertaining to watch
- Very good chemistry between the leads
- Nostalgic feeling for fans of classic K-drama tropes
- Enjoyable friendships between characters, both leads and supporting

Cons:
- Forgettable characters and plot
- Lack of emotional investment
- Pacing slows down in later episodes

Maybe about six episodes of actual plot

I am a sucker for the supernatural. So of course a show called "Doom at Your Service" would grab my attention.

And yes, the first three episodes deliver. The mysterious creator, her subordinate destroyer (ML) and the human girl (FL) somehow getting involved with them. It is all quite intriguing and gets you hooked.

Unfortunately the following episodes focus mostly on worldly affairs: FL coping with her fate, her romance with ML, and a love triangle between support characters. It all comes with copious amounts of emotional padding, a procession of static scenes with a lot of talking, whining, crying, accompanied by sad background music of course.

I've tried to sit/skip through it, driven by my curiosity about the supernatural element. But I just couldn't make it and dropped the show after ten episodes.

I wish there was a six episodes cut without all the needless filler. I believe it would make for a much better drama.

Hop on, I'll take you anywhere you want to go!

This show was such a delightful surprise.
Many Thai dramas tend to fall on the raunchier side of the spectrum (which is not necessarily a bad thing, mind you) so this story made for a delightful change of pace. It is almost entirely character driven rather than plot driven and really takes the time it needs to develop everyone's personal character arcs fully, never rushing yet never slowing down either.
There are no sudden plot twists, no dramatic misunderstandings (at least none that don't get resolved almost immediately via the revolutionary method of Clear Communication) and at 10 episodes the story is perfectly paced.

I especially loved the show's varied depictions of queer people's lives. This is the first time I've seen an elderly queer couple depicted in a drama and I am so grateful for their inclusion here. Not only do those two serve as an endless well of support and advice for Mork and company, they are also plenty fun to watch just on their own.
Mork's tentative steps towards exploring his sexuality are incredibly lovely to watch and pleasantly devoid of any "gay for you" nonsense (although I did at one point find myself swearing at the screen for someone to just say the word "bisexual" already)
I also deeply appreciated the show's approach to Tawan's character who, while entirely comfortable and certain in his sexuality, is still new to relationships and physical intimacy and refuses to do anything but going at his own pace.
Given how, in depictions of relationships where one person is just discovering they may not be entirely straight, it's usually the openly queer person who is more assertive and sexually experienced, this was a refreshing twist on a well-established dynamic.

In short: If you're looking for a calm, low-drama show with good acting, a great cast of supporting characters, and a pleasantly diverse range of queer characters, then this one is for you.

The Kids Are Alright

Aw hell, I just really liked this one.
It wasn't the best show I've ever seen by any means, but it was such a sweet and earnest story about a bunch of kids trying their best and figuring themselves out I just couldn't help but be drawn in by it.

The characters are all very easy to love and I appreciate just how much they feel like real teenagers. They're all at different stages in their lives and that's okay. Some of them know exactly what they want from their future and some of them have no idea what they want to do with their life at all. Some of them are romantically and sexually experienced and some of them haven't so much as kissed anyone yet. You know, like real kids.
In general the show does a great job of portraying the beautifully varied lives of young queer people and makes it very clear that they're all perfectly alright just as they are and that there's nothing wrong with living life at your own pace, which is an important message for anyone to hear, kids as well as adults.

While the story is largely lighthearted, it also tackles more serious topics like parental neglect and abuse, and does so with great care and sensitivity. It emphasises the importance of communicating your wants and needs to the people in your life as well as the importance of standing up for yourself even if that means going against the expectations and demands of others.
The only thing that, to me, felt out of place is Qi Zhang's uncle. His sudden appearance was as jarring as it was entirely unnecessary. You're telling me that Mama Xu would really have let that man come anywhere near her kid? There's just no way.
But that's pretty much my only complaint.

So if you're looking for a very sweet slice-of-life story with solid writing and good music, which treats its characters with care and respect while broaching some mature topics, then I'd definitely recommend giving this one a shot.

A train wreck but in a good way

A hot damn messy is what this show is and I love every moment of it. These characters are very flawed and it shows how toxic friendships and relationships happen. They all need therapy. It's Like a Train Wreck, you know it's gonna crash and burn but you can't look away. The amount of
manipulation, lying, and narcissistic traits a lot of them have are mindblowing. They all put themselves makes you hang on the edge of your seat waiting for the other shoe to drop. Mew and Top whole relationship is built off a lie. Boston and Nick are messed up in the head. Sand and Ray both need to learn better ways to cope with these issues. Ray is using alcohol to mask his pain and it's destroying him. I can't help but think Mew knows his feelings but takes advantage of those feelings. He has other friends but you chose him to call. He made his voice sound a certain way when he called him, knowing Ray would melt. Sand masks how he feels and it's a reason he hates the way he does.

A relatively short but interesting love story

I must say that this drama was very... Interesting to watch. Personally... Felt like a lot of storylines mushed together but in a pretty good way. I felt like the story line changes a lot and it was a little messy. But the overall plot is really good. Loved the acting. Very nice work done there. The music felt a little off for the story tho... Honestly the music gave a lot of 'Goblin' vibes. But I enjoyed this drama. It's a good plot with lots of good characters and stories. Truly interesting to watch too. Overall, Great drama that might seem a little messy but has very good plot. ???‍???‍?
