So I finally got the time to watch this movie, which they show in cinemas in our country for good of one week, and I watched it on its last day so I barely made it LOL. I haven't seen the anime so I can't compare, I don't know how faithful adaptation it is but I really like what I've seen. I don't feel that the pacing is rushed so it didn't read more end up confusing and each scenes are so vital to the story like If you remove one the story will be affected so in that sense the movie didn't became draggy. But sadly I felt that the story was told in a simplistic way like there are not enough tensions and characters are a bit one dimensional that made me hard to care for them sometimes.

Before watching I already knew the this would be a sad story but at the same time I am confident that I would not cry, I am kind of immune to that since I've seen a lot of sad movies, and I am right, I didn't cry, but that doesn't mean the story is NOT sad cause it is, but I felt that that they made the ending bitter sweet because based on how people describe the anime it would have been a cry fest.

Now for the thing that I really like, the theme in the movie, I love how the movie conveys their connection thru music, I felt that it is so romantic like it is their love letter for each other, and just like the phrase they say to each other "will it reach you?". With that theme conveyed so well only made their performances so much better, technically they are already brilliant but with so much emotions attached to the performance made that scene EPIC.

Cinematography is beautiful, it is one of those colorful Japanese movies, seems to be the trend nowadays. Music is given to be excellent but what I am surprised is how well they play the instruments, one movie come to mind that could rival this in terms of the skills of playing the instruments in a movie and that is Jay Chou's "Secret". I like the ending song as well, I don't understand japanese but its melody captures the ambiance of the movie.

Great acting from both Kento and Suzu, you can tell that they come a long way especially Suzu but now I can say they are capable of portraying complicated characters. It is reported that they went intense training playing violin and piano for their respective roles and it paid off well as their performance is believable, which is important to be called a good adaptation and they nailed it in this department. Side characters are the issue here like I didn't feel them, probably lack of screen time I guess, such a shame though because I really want to see more of Anna Ishii, I felt that her talent was wasted in her role.

I feel that many guys will love this film like imagine one day you saw a beautiful girl under a cherry tree then from that moment your life change, happens to me (not under the cherry tree though).

Kaori: Did I find a place in your heart?

Arima: You step all over it.

-literally me

Since i've actually seen the anime, which was REALLY GREAT I had high expectations for the actual live action movie. Even so this movie kind of disappointed me.

It feels like the story goes by too fast, like, nothing get explained/ showed as much as they did in the anime. People who've watched the anime will know what the story is and miss certain parts in it. For people who never watched read more the anime it may be a lot more enjoyable.

As I said they didn't include lots of necessary scenes;

-Kousei's whole backstory with more throwbacks of what his mom did to him and made him the "man" he is today.

-The black cat that came by in the anime which is a symbol for good luck.

-Kousei meeting Kaori's parents which have a bakery and being all enthousiastic about Kousei being there.

-Tsubaki dating another guy.

-The backstory of Tsubaki and Kousei.

-Kousei and Kaori really getting close to each other.

The music is the best part of this whole movie. It's all about the music. It may be Classical, but it's certainly beautiful and fits the whole theme of the movie. It gives a great dramatic feeling touching scenes and certainly jerks the tears from your eyes.

Anyways I give this movie a total of a 6,5 due the fact that I missed lots of scenes I looked forward to to see.

Both movies have so many 'what ifs' and lost chances. It may ended up sad but it's really beautiful, heartwarming, and inspiring.

I like the live action. It stays faithful to the plot of the anime. And I was amazed how they actually used the script of the anime.
Too bad some of my favorite scenes in anime was not in the movie, but it's understandable because they cannot put everything in a 2 hour movie.
Love all the actors, they portray well all the characters.
As a fan of anime, I'm not disappointed. It's a good adaptation.

It was seriously one of the best Live Actions for me.. To People who said it was just okay, Nothing special about it or the plot was predictable..

Of course you already know the plot of the story. Of course there was nothing special about it.. Because if they (Directors&Staff) were to change the plot of the story you guys will be disappointed because they change the plot.

Kento being the Kousei was the best He delivered the Emotions and Feels that Kousei really feels. also Suzu showed the emotions and feels of Kaori...

The Production Crew and the Cast really did a great Job on this Live action ! Hands Down.

This is such a step up from the anime adaptation. Well, for me, anyways. This feel more like the story of Kousei and Kaori than the anime, which spent a lot of episodes on developing side characters that weren't as interesting (like the other pianists). I am also glad the mother drama wasn't as exaggerated in this. It was still a big part of Kousei's character, but in the anime it got annoying reaaaaaallly quick.

Overall, this is the definitive version of Your Lie in April to me. The actors and actresses did a fantastic job and while some interesting things were cut from the anime and manga versions, the experience felt better me.

Really loved this bittersweet high school love story, great live action adaptation of a manga (the anime was awesome as well). What can I say? It has everything in the right amount: romance, friendship, adolescence, family ties, music, dreams, life and death... The actors were perfect for their roles, especially Hirose Suzu! Not only is she beautiful, but also talented and she nailed her character, so I doubt anyone could complain about her performance.
The music was wonderful, especially if you love classical music like I do, you couldn't ask for anything else, all those scores... Kento's final performance had me sobbing, his acting while playing the piano was really good. And that letter... you guys should really watch this, I don't think anyone would say this movie was a waste of time. It's sweet without being cheesy, it's bitter without being a tearjerker and it will just make you think about how precious each day can be and it will remind you to just seize the moment...
Highly recommended, I'll def. rewatch this someday...

'Music accompanies the path of the human metronome, the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after the passing of his mother, Saki Arima, Kousei falls into a downward spiral, rendering him unable to hear the sound of his own piano. Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano, leaving behind his admirers and rivals, and lives a colorless life alongside his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful violinist, Kaori Miyazono, who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face music again.'
