I love all of Jang-Hyuk`s dramas and this was no exception. Probably the first medical drama where they incorporated a psychopathic doctor as the male lead so it was interesting to see how the character would turn out in the end. Although it`s a medical drama, don`t expect a series of medical surgeries or whatever they call it. However, they tackled different diagnosis and surgical procedures that don`t see on other medical dramas so that made up for it. The romance in this drama is also not full blown and some scenes are cliched so don`t expect it. But it is a really well written drama for Jang-hyuk`s character and how he changed throughout the whole drama by Jin-sung`s help, the situations he was involved in, the people he was surrounded at work and the patients he met. It`s a good story tho.

I totally had no interest in this drama when I first saw the promos and original broadcast. It wasn't until recently that I went back to it since I find there was no interesting drama currently. I'm glad I did because it was still more captivating than the choices now. I heard the production had many problems and was supposed to be axed to only 12 eps, but since the writer fought for it got 14 eps instead of the original 16. I wonder if there wasn't so many issues how much better it would of been. It is such a shame that it's not more recognize. However, I found from most reviews people find this drama a pleasant surprise and the discussion in soompi shows it does leave an impression on you. I love the acting and how the main couple came together. I also love how the story of the male lead unfolds. Hopefully, more people will discover this drama.

Why have i decided to watch this drama? So okay, i admit i was drawn to watch this drama because of the male lead. I find Jang Hyuk superb, versatile, excellent actor. He could carry out drama, comedy, suspense, action you name it.
The plot itself is unique, i find these genres interesting because its not the usual medical drama type...it has a "twang" to the story people! This is one of the few medical dramas that i could rewatch over and over next to the US drama Dr. House way, way, way back i think 2009 Thats why im wondering why did they cut this short instead of making it at 16eps they reduced it to 14, it was really disappointing. You have the great plot, award winning cast, what really went wrong? Time slot perhaps?
Its really disappointing when i got to the last 2 to 3 episodes the drama suddenly went "fast-track".
Nevertheless this drama is highly recommended especially to those medical drama fanatics there. You will never be disappoi ted except that this was cut short.

Oh Lord ! what happened to people ?! how can they didn't recognize such beautiful drama ! it’s called Beautiful Mind and it’s one indeed…

Story: there’s no cliche, no cheesy rom-com, there’s love, and the will to understand the other person who is important to you !
this drama talking about the dark side of hospitals and medicine filed in general !
The drama asking us lots of questions: is there’s a hope for people ?! can money control even hospitals and doctors ?! can you change when everybody around you telling you no ?! .. This drama also talks about how powerful an idea is and how dangerous it is when it controls human life !

Acting; Jang Hyuk ( Lee Yeong Oh ) proved himself in this drama, if you ever watched him in “ Fated To Love You “ - which is a good and funny drama by the way - you will really know how well he really played his character ! in Fated to Love You he played a funny romantic and cute businessman, but in this one he played a sociopath, anti social, and a genius neurosurgeon, there’s a big gape between the two characters which is AMAZING for any actor, I really can’t describe how great he was!

as for Park So Dam ( Gye Jin Sung ) i didn't like her role in the beginning ! she was sort of annoying and irritating but after couple of episodes the writer made her turn into such nice young lady who suits Lee Yeong Oh character very well

the other supporting actors was very good, especially the Power Renegers team :D , they were so funny i loved them !

Music; well nothing to remember for me ! but it was nice overall...

again here’s another masterpiece drama deserved more couple of episode to be complete perfection but….!

Before i watched this Kdrama, there was one that i have seen with a similar plot (Dr. Frost). Dr. Frost kind of made me want to skip parts of the episodes because i felt that there would be instances where the story was getting to be a bit boring. But with this drama, i was really impressed with the acting of Jang Hyuk. His face was emotion-less but the eyes are communicating with you. I mean, he is really good. I also liked the chemistry between Jang Hyuk and the lead actress. They don't seem to match each other at first glance but then as the story progresses, you can see some sort of chemistry between the two. There is a thrill, kind of good feeling between the two. This is one of those dramas that i really waited for each episode every week because i cannot stand waiting for the whole show to finish before watching. The medical terminologies were also great. it seem believable to me. :)

i definitely recommend this drama if you are into medical, love story kind of plots. Another reason to recommend this is because of Jang Hyuk! Totally awesome actor.

Very decent

To be honest, I thought it was going to be a dry investigation drama.
It. Was. Not.

I thought the romance won't be that good.
I. Was. Wrong.

If you want something with an interesting investigation and detailed story, this is not it. If you want a funny slice of life hospital drama, this is not quite it. If you want a bunch of cuteness overload romantic stuff, it's not quite the right choice. BUT
if you want something that has a bit of everything surfacing here and there, then yes, go for it! It is I think worth your time, it's very decent, lots of heart-warming parts, good acting, good interactions. Not a perfect, but a GOOD show!

It has a not very complicated story, some evil-doers, corrupt stuff, nothing extraordinary, but enough to keep the actions moving.

The writing I think is actually sort of the weak part, it tries to be smart and deliver twists at the right time, but it always falls just a bit too far from the perfect way to do it. It's not bad though, but not very good either.

The characters are great, but again their writing is not always the best. I always expected them to say a bit better lines. I think it becomes better and better though as we go, I think the writer found the right voice as they showed more of the characters.

For some reason the main girl kind of gets abandoned halfway, like she comes up sometimes but she sort of loses her role and personality, her drive and ambition she had, I think again: writing problem, as the creator probably wanted to focus more on the guy and kind of forgot to find place for the girl.

Nevertheless the main guy is Indeed very interesting, he has a disability which you can't help but want to follow and heal.
The side characters actually grew on me more as we moved forward.
There are not that many jokes, and not that many romantic scenes, not that many interesting investigations, not that many interesting patients... BUT
When they are there, they hit hard, they are very good to watch and that's what kept me going and going, to see those parts which happened to be very well done.

(btw I love the main guy, I saw him in another drama before and watched this because of him, he gets lots of spotlight here and opportunity to shine I can also recommend this if you want to see more if him ehehe)

This is one the more well-rounded medical series I've come across so far. There isn't any hyper-dramatic scenes that you sometimes get with these. There are still some of those falling ill at convenient moments to move the plot along but not offensively. If the female lead was cast and scripted differently, it would have improved the overall feel but our male lead makes up a lot of this shortcoming.

The female lead, Gye Jin Sung, started off as the type of protagonist I usually detest the most. Usually forgiven by the masses because of her "passion" despite being senseless and harmfully reckless. The type who selfishly create problems based on their own sense of moral but is usually forgiven easily for it. She does redeem herself a bit after finally siding with the right person but it also felt like her personality oddly did a sudden transformation which didn't keep with character. What helps her case here, is she'll seem like an angel compared to the ex.

What can I say about our male lead, Lee Young Oh? I've always enjoyed watching this actor on screen and he doesn't disappoint here. Let's just say you barely notice the lack of chemistry with the female lead because he is just that good.

There is a nice amount of depth built into the plot even if you only pay attention to the script of our antisocial genius neurosurgeon. The rest of the cast does a good job and the development between relationships are believable. I also appreciate that they kept the dramatics at a good balance and the pacing of the episodes was done well with just a tad of rush towards an okay end.

If you're considering watching this drama, do it. This is my first time writing a review about a drama because that's how good it was and how much I want others to see it.

Story ? this is such a brilliant story; I found myself clenching my jaw and utterly glued to the screen from the thrill and suspense it held. The writers and producers for this drama did an incredible job at keeping the viewer hooked from episode one to fourteen. The plot is interesting and the twists in the story make perfect sense and fit the story as well. It focuses more on the medical aspect and the major issue involved with it without forcing the 'love' romance idea down your throat like any other drama. The leads slowly ease into each other without it feeling forced which was amazing in my eyes. I couldn't stop crying with each episode. It doesn't fail to deliver a bit of comedy in between. Some of the characters do get scenes of their own where you get to see their struggles and the way being a doctor affects each one, gets you really connected to the rest of the medical crew. (Dr. Yang Sung Eun and his friend/Dr. Lee Shi hyun and the heart transplant patient, etc). This show was cut down two episodes short which got me really upset since this is such a good drama. Even so, they closed the drama really cleanly with a beautiful ending, nothing left unsolved and it doesn't feel rushed or forced either.

Acting/cast ? The entire cast did an amazing job, especially Jang Hyuk who gave a brilliant performance at playing such a difficult character. I personally really like Park So Dam, I think she's absolutely gorgeous and very natural when she acts. Her character (Jinsung) was very irritating at the very beginning but I suppose it was set to be this way by the producers until you slowly warm up to her in later episodes. The chemistry between the two leads was great (everyone talk about their age gap but I really didn't care of even took it into account). The cast does a great job at playing each of their characters and they never fail to make you cry with the way they play out those tear jerking scenes. They did a great job.

Music ? I'm so in love with it, it's by Bernard Park which I adore his voice ever since he was in KPOPSTAR. They couldn't have chosen a better singer for this. The OST is beautiful, it tugs on your heartstrings immediately once it starts playing. Give it a listen for sure. (DIRT by Bernard Park) Aside from the main ost, they did a great job to use instrumental music instead of sappy OST's like every drama shoves at every single scene so it was refreshing. They put the right music in the right moments to get the right mood.

Overall, I recommend anyone watch it and even though you might not like the first few episodes I suggest you continue because you do warm up to everyone and the story gets better with each episode. This is a gem you must not miss! Definitely on of my top favorite dramas.

It's been a while since I watched this drama and ended up rewatching it again as KBS World was currently reairing it. In which I used to recall comparing it with Good Doctor back then due to similar plot setting. As in a medical drama focusing on a special doctor having a special condition that might be beneficial or perhaps dangerous. In Good Doctor it was Park Sion who has Savant syndrome while in this drama it was Lee Jeongo who due to an incident in the past was rendered unable to feel any emotions and was called a psychopath. In both cases, the doctors gain an interest in pursuing medicine and end up becoming somewhat a genius later on. Yet, because of their conditions it made it a bit risky to allow them to operate on patients since they would not be able to understand the limits one should be allowed to pursue.

In that sense, this drama pose an interesting question. Could someone who exhibit traits of a psychopath could be allowed to treat people as a doctor. Could someone like Lee Yeongo learn to emphatize with his patients; despite his conditions, in order to become a good doctor? As the drama unfolds from start to finish, we'll get to see how Jeongo start to learn to sympathize with the help of Gye Jinsung and overcome his disabilities to become a better doctor.

Nor only it's one the best there is in the drama the twist inside it and the well acted roles gave it the powerful dRama that it is the great thing about it that the drama never give you the boring side or the imagination of knowing what will happen. It is the best of the love story I have ever seen. Regardless the story the characters will make you want to stay with them. I have seen it more than 50 times. Truly one of the best. The only problem is that it's short but it gave the full story in length without any fillers or any other drama side Story. The comedy in it and human side is powerful . See it to believe it.

I was looking forward to this drama mainly because of Jang Hyuk. I'm a fan of this great amazing actor. I believe he is the greatest Korean actor. I appreciate his maturity that he brings to the table with every role he plays. From Fated to Love You, Money Flower (which in my opinion catalputed him to be the best Kdrama actor of modern times) and now Beautiful Mind. I know I'm in for a nice treat as I go along with the drama episodes HOWEVER with first few episodes Park So Dam dampen my mood terribly with her irritating, immature, dumb, irrational demeanor not to mention her screechy voice modulation. Few questions come to mind; is she a detective or a traffic cop. Earlier episodes showed her moving in and out of the hospital restricted areas (OR, Conference Room, MD'S Locker Rooms, Security Monitor Room). Yes she was investigating a possible crime, is it in her job description? Her irrational actions without solid evidence i.e. arresting Dr. Lee 2x makes her less credible as law enforcer whatever that is. I admit my deep hesitation to see this drama because of Park So Dam, mainly I never develop any liking to her due to her previous film works and the big age gap between the two leads BUT my great respect of Jang Hyuk won at the end. I had a previous "off screen love affair" with this great actor in Money Flower. From then, I was hooked. On a side note, please watch Money Flower, it's a 100% guarantee or your money back. I will post an addendum as I move along with this drama that is if Park So Dam does not drive me crazy with her stupidity enough to drop this drama. After watching several Drama, I sort of got use to over exaggeration of main lead character in the first few episodes for later character development. I don't know. Get the popcorn and soda, let's enjoy the show. Thank you for reading my post.

This review may contain spoilers
I will start this review with saying that I am not overreacting by giving it a full 10. And there will be no spoilers in my review.

First of all, as you start the drama you won't know how amazing it will actually become after a few episodes. The idea of this drama is really beautiful, just as the title says.
Will you be able to understand other people's minds and hearts? What would it be like to not feel anything or not be able to empathise with people?
The story doesn't only have doctor subjects, it shows the importance of life and the value of understanding people's pain.

Secondly, the acting is just incredible. I would find myself from amazement to crying and then to a confusing feeling. I would countinously ask myself "what is he feeling right now?" or "how would be to see thourgh that person's eyes?"
Moreover, the music is so perfectly fit for this drama that it will totally absorb you into the world of it.

In my oppinion, this drama is perfect from all points of view. You will definetly love it, and even more you will live it with all your heart.
