Middle-of-the-road for me

Overall, I found this to be a cute show, but I don't feel like I would have missed anything if I hadn't watched it.

Story: I struggled with the character of Misaki through the first few episodes. She was very flighty and obsessed about getting kissed. She liked Chiaki and told everyone that would listen, but she could hardly talk to him. Then she liked Kanata. When that started and how that happened is kind of a mystery - he's a complete jerk. If I was Kanata, I don't know that I would be able to trust her feelings. I do have to say that the relationship between Misaki and Kanata was pretty organic. They spent a lot of time together, originally antagonistic, then becoming friends. Their chemistry was excellent. There were some side stories that made no sense and went nowhere. Plus, there was an older, creepy landowner guy that kept showing up and that storyline just disappeared. As usual with Asian dramas, I was pretty disappointed in the ending, it was pretty boring.

Cast: The actor and actress that played Kanata and Misaki were both good. The actor playing Chiaki was okay as well, though there wasn't much for him to do other than be handsome. I felt like the actor that played the youngest brother overacted quite a lot, which took me out of the story, which is unfortunate, because he had a good storyline.

I really enjoyed the cooking scenes, and the dishes were a treat for the eyes.

if youre looking for an easy to digest drama this is it!, the story its plain but the characters have such a great chemistry that the only regret of the drama is that it has too little of them. Youll be anxious after watching it cause it will be too diffucult to find another great one.
The main character its so atraaactive, he is the kind of guy who is kind of indifferent but at the same time he is also kind of shy, he is supper attractive (mainly because of its "indifference") that it will really melt your heart, plusss he is super loyal. The girl its the clumsy kind, but definetily the girl you will not hate.

Beautiful scenery, Cold ML

You better be into the tsundere trope to watch this. Oh man, there were so many times where I wish ML would be nicer and less silent and communicate for gods sake. But oh well, that's the nature of this type of drama. If it was longer than 10 episodes I probably would have gotten bored and stopped watching, but its short enough that I can quickly binge it for some cute and light fun. There is not much plot by the way, and a lot of the storylines are clearly designed to create drama and conflict for the sake of angst. The best parts of this drama is the likable and hardworking FL, the beautiful scenery, and the food/cooking related scenes.

This show gives you exactly what it promises. I don't know about you but reading its synopsis, I didn't expect a critically acclaimed show with layered characters. So I went in for a just a light, same old cliches watch. And I got exactly that. Hence, I have no complaints.
If you like Bollywood Rom-Coms, you'll like this show too.

Things that you are going to find here :
- non-layered characters. literally none of the character is layered except kanata ( who is a cardboard cutout of a tsundere character) and kaede who doesn't play much purpose in the story line
- cliches : you name it. this has all of them
- communcation gap & fights. but surprisingly i didnt find them THAT annoying cuz they were resolved pretty fast and easily.
plus, if you're gonna watch a show with tsundere character, communication gap is a given.

All in all, it's a pretty light and engaging watch. I binged it all within one night. I'd recommend if you don't mind cliches and communication gaps, and are looking for a light, fluffy watch between your heavy, character driven dramas!

(spoiler)
one thing i REALLY liked and want to mention separately is how she didn't choose man over her career. she still went to new york and they still worked it out. THANK YOU for that!

Another meh Jdrama for me.

I give this a 3/10. Almost was a 5/10 b/c for the most part I was enjoying the storyline and the characters. Even the ones that were getting on my nerves. However, the last few eps were just super annoying. I will never understand the notion of doing what's best for the other person without speaking to them. Can't people decide for themselves what's best if they have all the facts???

Anyway, I liked the cast a lot. Yamazaki Kento, Miura Shohei, Nomura Shuhei and Kiritani Mirei. FL is really pretty; loved her face but her character really is the kind of woman I can't stand. I really loved Abe Junko as Ishikawa Wakaba. She played the FL's bestfriend.

I have a serious question. What the hell was the point of that gangster/man who wanted to buy the restaurant?? Paca!! Really just an unnecessary character.

decent story that is made poignant and unique through storytelling & poetic directing

very enjoyable, slice-of-life drama with a decent story. i randomly came across this on Viki and wanted to give it a chance. i think the best part of this drama is the directing. i loved the scene compositions which almost all the time added to the plot more than the actual dialogue. i loved how the composition in certain scenes created chemistry between the characters. for example, there were scenes where Kanata and Misaki were not even in the same room, yet the way the specific scene was set up was enough to cultivate chemistry on the screen.

i loved the acting performances as well but one thing that was especially notable was the eye-acting. there were a lot of scenes where it was just the character staring at another character and they were all so impactful at making the viewer feel things. i think eye-acting plays a very important part in east-Asian dramas because they aren't always heavily reliant on dialogue. this was another thing that i loved. for example, Kanata was pretty much fully silent in the episode where he found out he was adopted yet he had a lot of scenes in the episode where his presence was heavily felt. Yamazaki Kento was able to translate that sense of confusion and hurt very well.

i also loved the way they used music in this drama. it was used sparingly and often times, i loved the dialogue scenes with no music in the background even more. more so, i very much enjoyed how this drama made room to have long scenes that were just made up of monologues with more than one person in the scene and no music in the background. something about it felt incredibly authentic to me. most dramas feel formulaic while this was more.. poetic? with that being said, i didn't necessarily care for the adoption storyline or the restaurant transfer but clearly, neither did the writers/producers because they didn't handle those topics as if they were supposed to be big plotlines. they only handled the impact these plotlines had on the characters and their relationships. it was always about their changing relationship dynamics and not the actual threat of them losing the restaurant or whatever. those plotlines weren't anywhere near unique but the way they handled them by focusing on character relationships was very unique and well done. also, i can't help it, i just like a good enemies-to-lovers storyline lol (even with the love triangle!!).

Short and Sweet

This is the first Japanese series after my long hiatus from Japanese Drama!
Good things for Japanese Drama:
- Short
- Well paced
- Unpredictable ending
- With bonus of nice soundtrack

For this drama, it's short and well paced, but the ending is predictable. Over all I rate this as 8 mostly is because of the acting. The acting is natural, not too excessive and fake like some Chinese modern drama.
Storyline wise, it's simple and represent daily Japanese life, this make me want to visit Japan again, especially the small cities. It's not draggy and enjoyable to watch.
Even though the ending is quite predictable and not much surprises throughout the series , I still recommend this drama for those who just want to watch something enjoyable that no need to think much. Just watch and enjoy the beautiful scenery and great acting!

I don't really trust the ratings and such but I'm just picking what I believe it should be?
Anyways, I've been eyeing on Japanese dramas since it's been a while, and I finally watched one and finished one.
The drama was nice, it's refreshing, very unique and FaboLous! :)
I like how the plot was created,; her going to the seaside to work, and her life-changing forever <3 The encounter moment was decent, her first love and last love hehe. For me, there's still a lot of questions because they bring new characters but they don't finish it. They somewhat did... but in the last episode which makes it rush. I guess it;s not that important soo, that's how they finished it.
The romance in this drama tho.. flows so nice, I love the main characters!. They all have their own personality and unique traits, especially Touma, He may not be the main character since he's not in the love triangle. But his acting and the main point of the story was really relatable.
The twist was somewhat expected but I still loved it. It shows that no matter what happens in life, if you are being true to yourself and with others, nothing really changes.
Overall, I am thrilled by their friendships, the work of art that they made on their restaurant (I WANNA MAKE IT!) Especially the dessert.. but I don't really know the name.. T.T. and of course the ROMANCE!
I already know there's not much of a kissing scene in Japanese dramas (not all but mostly) and I am okay with that. as long as there are lessons in the drama and...
I've seen the poster of this drama before and I am shooked that it was this drama! HAHA. It shows that this drama is on my list and I am happy that I watched it.

Kento thoo!!! Ughh!! I have no words for u! AHHA. I love you! わたしは、あなたを愛しています
YouR sMILE and acting arrogant was hot! EHHE-
-
But yes! I recommend this drama! It's simple yet nice and special <3
I'm shaken that Chiaki and Sakurai are married in real life... I found this out before watching and I am happy and not be stupid for not watching it because they may not end up in the drama HAHA. I love it tho HAHAH

This is giving us a chance that even tho there is a second-lead syndrome, the real-life matters more. LMAO.

Lovely summer love story

This was my first japanese drama I ever watched and I must say I really fell in love with this show.
The main character of Misaki was so adorable that I would really love to have her as a friend.
And the handsome men around her... haha, I really envied her. Kento Yamazaki became my favorite actor after this drama series.
I also really love the main title song.
The story was about love but also about strong bonds in family, about challenges in life and some scenes were really funny.
I recommend this drama if you want to see some heartwarming summer story. You won't regret it.

I had my problem with this drama sadly, I wanted to love it but the way the characters acted was it hard at times.
The scenery and everything else, they way how it was shoot was beautiful, stunning and I would give it 10 Stars only for that but for a 10 Star drama it needs more.
I was fine with Misaki for the longest time maybe because Kiritani Mirei was so good in portraying her but when she was unable to talk her true feelings until the nearly very end, I started to get annoyed with her too.
Kanata was such an unlikable ML but because I love Yamazaki Kento I also had a soft spot for Kanata sure he was unfriendly at times but without him Misaki would still be unable to speak her true feelings!
Chiaki on the other hand annoyed me most of the time, he first ignored Misaki and then fell in love with her? Also it never was addressed why he lied to Kanata about being brothers or did I miss this, maybe I missed it..
Touma was my favorite of the brothers, he was such a ball of sunshine, cute, nice and the best little brother.
Overall story was okay, not the best, some things were unnecessary in my opinion, but writers have to add some things to make a good story right.
Overall a decent watch, if you love jdramas you might love this one as well.

Sweet lighthearted drama

I love dramas where the leads initially don't get along, and this really fulfilled that. A sweet, light-hearted romance, that wasn't filled with any problematic elements (ML wasn't really abusive or controlling, and gave FL space to grow).

I did find some plot points involving the second female lead unnecessary and watched those at 2x speed lol. But I found genuine chemistry between the leads, and that made me want to keep watching. I also loved that the drama was picturesque without being too ostentatious - it felt like I was watching real people's lives (love me my rich heir dramas but sometimes they're too much), in real people's homes.

It's a really good show to get your mind off of real life if you need that, which I certainly did when I watched it!

So cliché it made me laugh.

I watched this drama on a whim, a bit shocked at its existence honestly. I have a bit to say about it, so keep your mind open as it might seem a bit harsh.
I thought this drama was great up until episode 6. First off, Hanata annoyed the living hell out of me. His character was so off putting, such an absolute douche bag that I hated the idea of Misaki and him being together. I also didn’t understand how the characters feelings switched around so much. Misaki loses feelings for Chiaki, gains feelings for Hanata, Chiaki “loses” feelings for his girlfriend and develops feelings for Misaki… it’s a whole mess. Some writing flaws are:
1. What would’ve been the big deal with telling Hanata he’s adopted to begin with? Is it really worth losing your damn restaurant over fear of the truth? Why did that one leathery looking man even want the restaurant so badly in the first place, that he’d blackmail and use violence to get it?
2. Why did Chiaki continue dating his girlfriend after developing feelings for Misaki? And how didn’t he catch on to her obvious feelings towards him in the first place when he claimed he could tell how she felt at all times one multiple occasions?
3. Why did Hanata wait so long to tell Misaki how he felt in the end? Why did he care to wait so long if he planned on pulling a stupid stunt and running to her at the airport only to call her stupid? Sorry I hate his character.
Anyways, I don’t know if this gives you any picture at all of what this show was.
It was a ton of dramatic scenes over petty, immature misunderstandings, a lot of verbal abuse on Hanata’s part that just felt pointless towards his character. His character could’ve been perceived by viewers as cold without the unnecessary rude dialogue. Misaki wasn’t unlikeable, but her character’s child-like mannerisms made me forget constantly that she was 26. This is a Jdrama, so exaggeration was expected, but her maturity in her patisserie position was completely different from her level of maturity outside of that. Touma was a wreck, but also a bit relatable to me until the very end when he valiantly decided to become a chef. I was happy for him I guess, it was heartwarming.
Chiaki was hot, but a bit… boring. His character wasn’t triggered by much, which made him likeable, but sometimes I just wanted him to beat Hanata’s dumbass. Literally hardly corrected Hanata even after he verbally bullied Misaki. I know the bullying was supposed to be motivated with good intentions, but was it seriously always that way? Hanata was a red flag man… I just hated that he got the girl.
Anyways, my review concludes with this. The acting was great, music great, cinematography great, story meh, characters meh… that’s all:)
