I wanted a fun buffer drama that was quick before diving into a more serious drama and this one did the job. With 20 episodes, that were 30 minutes each, this went by really fast. Did I enjoy it? Eh. Sure. After reading a few really nice reviews before starting this, I kind of feel bad for writing this review, but compared to the last few dramas I have watched, this did not compare. But I gave it a .5 star rating increase.

For me personally, this drama came off like a Saturday morning kids drama you would watch with your kids. It was silly and light but had a lot of mature jokes and content (such as one of the first scenes we see when Song Soo Jung goes back to the past and is in line with 3 other men awaiting punishment getting different appendages cut off.) Maybe it is because I recently saw Gong Seung Yeon in My Introverted Boss and disliked her character and transferred those feelings over to this drama OR maybe it was because I looked up Lee Jong Hyun after watching the first episode and knowing what had happened in 2019, that I just didn't vibe with these characters whatsoever. But I did enjoy On Dal's character and his relationship with Soo Jung. It was just a very quirky drama that I feel like you either will love or hate. Out of all the characters though, I feel like the Princess was the one who went through the most, but hey...she wanted that storybook romance.

The first half of the drama was a little painful to get through, but once the mains start to understand their feelings for one another and act on them, the story picks up, especially the last few episodes. I think the last few episodes def made me give this a higher score.

I believe my favorite character would be a tie between Mu Myung and Go Il Yong. Maybe Prince Ko, eldest brother of the Ko family (Go Yong) a little more. What can I say, I love a good villain even though...the king was a bigger villain to the mains. I liked Mu Myung because she was this badass warrior who only had loyalty to the princess, but was annoying because he believed he was worthless. I'm down with that. I loved Prince Ko because while every character jumped around between being silly and serious, not knowing what kind of drama this was, Prince Ko was always flamboyantly self-centered who thought he was the most badass general but was actually all bark and no bite. I loved his wild laugh that fit the mood of the drama perfectly, and strangely, loved his interactions with Soo Jung. Without him, this drama would be trash. Sorry, not sorry. Even when he had the upper hand, no one was really worried.

As for the ending - I got it...but felt like there could have been more explanation. The last few episodes were good, that I felt a little disappointed with how they did the ending. The ending was good and sweet, but I feel like they didn't have to give it to us in the last 2 minutes of the final episode with zero explanation or how. But I guess if it a quirky Saturday morning kids dramas, it isn't neccesary.

Don't give up on your true love

like these time travel movies so I’m Looking forward to this one. This is so funny and not overly serious like “Moon Lovers”
Gong Seung Yeon/Song Soo Jung And Lee Jong Hyun/On Dal are so funny and now the Kim Yeon Seo/Princess Pyung Gang has turned up. Her assistant managers Lee Jae Jin/Byeon Sam Yong was in the Combi and accidentally travel back in time with her. The combo has got a mind of its own. Is she the only one that can drive it?

Ahn Bo Hyun/Moo Myung the Princess bodyguard is with her. They just dug the way out of her bedroom where she had been imprisoned by her father for 18 years. ( Kim Yeon Seo/Princess Pyung Gang) She thinks the combo and the people are there to take her away.

This is an awesome magical mystery tour. Seems like that combi has control of everyone who get in it.

Those were terribly cruel old days. Nothing about the good old days. It was a very harsh life. How many times has he got to save his mother.

I haven’t written that much about this drama but I love it. The first part was humorous and fun. The last 7 or 8 episodes the tempo starts to heat up and the two pairs of lovers are stressed to the max as what they are doing is changing history. As a viewer you want the lovers to be together but you also see the impossibility of their situation. The magic combi is back fully repaired after its trip back to the future. So anything can happen now because as a viewer you already believe that the combi can do anything after all it going from the past to the future then back again. So you live on that hope that it can do miracles. Writers kudos to you writer Kim Soo Jin the plot is so cleverly written.

Now I have watched”River Where the Moon Rises “ I understand this kdrama so much better and I want to watch it again and add to this review. This is the drama to watch when you are going through a depressive state and need cheering up. It is so funny, amusing and entertaining. It’s also very clever, inventive and many-sided. I love it.

The actors in here are playing two roles one in the past and one in the present time. Its a bit repetitive in parts but still very excellent. Its so funny and crazy and awesome. That crazy vain man got his comeuppance.

After a history of almost kisses the main actors finally kiss on that beautiful hill after flying a kite. It was was a gorgeous moment of the drama. Then there was a rash of passionate kisses later in the drama but as history began to change Oh Dal began to disappear.

This drama is so worth rewatching.

First  i didnt know Netflix had anything in the k drama division. But it was a very nice surprise. It has a nice comedy/ romance/ time travel story. It is nice to see something with a nice twist
Second not going to give any spoilers but its a not so serious drama, episodes are half hour so you can really enjoy it. the pace in certain moments were a bit fast but never had that slow pace where you have to jump scene (yes there are some where you just hate that they drag it). The ending was perfect even though they could have cut out some of the flash backs and opted for more reunion in future and past. Overall it has a very good balance of quirkiness and cute.
Its just a good drama to simply watch just to pick me up.

Why are the ratings so low?? This show is so fun.

I had very low expectations for this show but it's a time travel historical drama so I gave it a shot.

The first 2 episodes were really bad. The FL was entitled and rude and it wasn't portrayed in a funny way. But after a few episodes she grew on me. I loved the whole main cast and The characters interactions were always fun, specially the scenes were the people from the past are shocked by modern technology.

I love time travel shows. The whole fish out of water aspect always makes me LOL. I hope this trend becomes more popular.

I love this drama. If you want to watch a drama but don't really have much time to invest in it, this is a pretty good alternative. Although it is 20 episodes, each episode is only 30 minutes long. Usually when they're short dramas, it feels like the story gets rushed in the end. I didn't think that was the case with this one.

THE STORY
A bratty actress finds herself transported to ancient times where she meets a guy who is the complete opposite of everything she wanted. It reminded me of The Queen & I where the girl is from modern times and the guy is from years in the past.

THE CAST
Everybody did a great job. The chemistry between Jonghyun and Seungyeon were on point. And hearing about them being in We Got Married made me want to watch the episodes. I ship these two now. They're so cute together. The other characters were great too. Even the supporting casts.

THE MUSIC
The music is why this wasn't a perfect 10 for me. It didn't really have enough songs to be memorable.

REWATCH VALUE
I will definitely re-watch this. So good.

OVERALL
My final rating is 9.5. I totally recommend this.

Loved it

I liked it very much. I think this is one of the funniest kdramas i have seen so far (together with Mr. Queen, which i highly recommend if you loved My only love song).

MOLS is 20 ep long, but they are 30 min each so it's an easy watch. I really enjoyed the humor and the romance. I didn't find it boring at any point and i liked all the characters.

Another thing that I liked a lot about this drama was that it didn't have a lot of politics like you usually see in historical dramas, and i found that refreshing.

The only reason why I didn't give it a 10 star rating was the ending which was happy but felt very rushed.

I would recommend it to everyone who wants something easy and funny.

I don't usually watch historical dramas, but I've changed my mind since watching this! Loved the scenes and the costumes. I was pretty annoyed at Seung Yong's acting at the beginning as she was practically screaming but it became okay towards the middle. The cast was great and the acting was good. The drama does get a little boring, mainly due to flashbacks and unnecessary script wanderings, but overall the drama was solid throughout. Drama started out light and I was laughing, but I ended up crying at the end. I would probably not watch it again, but I seriously want a sequel!

Long, drawn out

This show replayed a lot of the same things multiple times. I suppose the concept was okay, but it kind of felt to me like it didn't know where it wanted to be going. I normally have problems with historical dramas because all the men tend to look alike, and this was no different. The ending was sweet, but too abrupt. I'd love a drama to spend more than three minutes showing the main couple back together after all the time they spent apart. The acting was good/believable, but I just wasn't overly impressed with this show. There are too many other really good shows to focus on.

It's a mess

What should have taken me a day or two to finish made me take even longer because I almost gave up watching the whole thing. To make a long review short, I highly recommend you don't watch it.

I was really intrigued by the premise of the story. A modern actress gets sent back in time to the era she is portraying, and tries to navigate that world while looking for a way back to her time. Meanwhile, getting caught up in a love she had no intention of having, and having to choose between going back or staying. It sounds great right? However, while whats on paper is sort of what we get, it gets hidden behind a terrible production.

I'll start with the good:
-The episodes are short, just a half hour, so if you are really dedicated, you can finish it in a day.
-Once I understood the point, I was ok with the weird edits in the middle of the episodes. They stop them about 2/3 of the way into the episodes, though.
-General Ko Il-yong. I can't really explain why, but I just liked his character. I think he was the only one that didn't take his role so seriously, and was good enough to have fun with it. He was over the top at times, but he was enjoyable.
-Gong Seongyeon has an amazing singing voice.

And now the bad:
-It looks so low budget. The wigs and props look incredibly fake, almost cartoonishly. The wigs especially were really distracting with how bad they were styled on some of the actors. The style is all over the place, and while I am not a Korean historical expert, it looked to me like there wasn't much regard for accuracy at all. That could be due to the budget, but some of the styles seemed really modern compared to how they probably should have been portrayed.
-Most of the acting is really cringy. I talked about General Ko already, and there were a couple others that were ok, but in general, it was hard to watch. I feel bad for Gong Seongyeon, because I have seen her in WAY better productions, and I'm sure she was giving her best, but I really didn't like her character. She was really annoying and didn't really redeem herself all the much to me.
-The plot is a mess. I would have given it a higher rating if it was a straight parody, but it tries to be serious half way through and looses whatever edge it had. In one of the earlier episodes, there was even a 4th wall break, so I almost saw it in a better light. Like "Oh, ok, so I shouldn't care about the plot because it's not important" and then they make it important in the end.
-The second lead couple has a better love story. Not that either was portrayed really well, but I believed that they loved each other more than the main couple. I know people have mentioned that they were one of the top couples in WGM, but I didn't see that here. On Dal looked more like he was going to eat her (and not in a sexy way) most of the time.
-The ending doesn't make sense. I was hoping she would have a similar situation to what happened with Samyong, in which we would see a modern incarnation of On Dal, but nope, the real deal just time jumps out of no where with no explanation.
-With all the behind the scenes shots in the earlier episodes (which I loved by the way, it was one of the good things), they stopped them half way through the series. It's like they changed editors at some point in the show.
-This is a personal gripe of mine, but the camerawork that was done is not my personal style. It's the type that looks like they are shooting a soap opera, with hyper defined pan shots and bad lighting. It highlights even more the fake props and makes everything distracting.

There's probably more I can say, but they are smaller things that don't really matter to me that much.

Watched in March 2019.

review from 2019:
Fun and easy ride with great chemistry between the two leads. Highlights include a magical time-traveling car, refreshingly rude heroine (yes, I loved her!), some sympathetic side characters and several very hot kisses.
Crazy comedy in the first half of the show was awesome, the second half with melodrama and some extremely illogical or straight down stupid twists was more on an annoying side (e.g. how information travels unnaturally fast in medieval Korea, but the main characters are failing at some basic communication).

Made me happy, will rewatch favorite scenes in the future! 8 well-deserved stars!

I started this drama seven months ago, but only just got around to finishing it. I think it is probably better overall if you watch it in one go instead of giving yourself too much time to think about it. Alas, sometimes life just gets in the way.
That said, I still enjoyed the story immensely. It was basically just a quirky idol drama. For a saguek, it wasn't too terribly violent or full of politics. The "bad guy" was absurd. I actually started to feel a bit of piy for him at one point.
The guys were cute, there was some hilarious meta, and the girls were hilarious in their own right. I would be very happy to see any of these idol actors again. :)

Great historical period drama

I love historic period dramas, and I was pleasantly surprised with this drama - and time travelling was amazing add to it. Sure, the plot has its issues and plot holes, but once you ignore them, you can really enjoy this drama. I also really loved that the main woman Soo Jung wasn't a shy or clumsy girl, but a witty, confident and even rude! We don't really see that in many dramas, and it was a positive thing to see that made me wanna watch more.
The characters are well written and fun, and even the annoying ones (I'm looking at you Go Il Yong) I found really likeable and grow fond of. And all the couples are so shipable and have great chemistry together, espeically Soo Jung and On Dal. Also the kisses between them were actually steamy and realistic than most Kdramas, another plus!
There were some plot holes, as I mentioned, but mostly I wish we knew more of Boong Boong (also one of my favorite characters, the car lol) - has it always been a time travelling car? Where did it get its powers, and why did it choose Soo Jung to travel her back in time, and travel her around? But well. I guess they wanted to leave that to a mystery.
