Disappointed

After finishing Angel's Last Mission: Love I'm just angry at what this drama could have been.

This drama started so good and had so much potential, but at the end didn't deliver. It had a strong, beautiful first half: interesting plot, charming characters, nice balance of drama, mystery, romance and comedy; and then it went downhill so fast.

Plot stopped making sense, terrible writing turned the characters into over the top caricatures of themselves, interesting characters left unexplored in favor of some cheap drama, zero chemistry between the leads and some over acting.
This is what the show became on the second half.

Neither of the leads were bad per se and most of the flaws I saw in their performance can be blamed on the writing. I think they did their best with what they were given, which to be honest, wasn't much.
Kim Myungsoo is a great comedy actor and his charming performance at the beginning was what made me keep watching; his dramatic scenes could be better but not bad at all. Much better than I expected.
Shin Hye Sun was okay. I think she portrayed the character really well at the beginning, then she started to over act. But as I said, I blame the writing for that.
What I can't ignore is the zero chemistry between them, one of the reasons why I wasn't that invested in their love story.

Quite good supporting actors, with characters far more interesting than the leads at times and that I would have liked to know better because they had so much potential.
And that's what makes me mad about this drama: the fact that it could have been so good, it had everything to be so good, and they chose not to.

At the end, I think not even the writers knew what they were doing.
And it's such a shame because it was so promising at the start.

Nonsense writing, Nonsense romance, Nonsense ending!

What a horribly written drama this one was, with such a terrible acting performance from L, a nonsense childish romance with no chemistry, cartoonish villain & ilogical act from the characters. Even LYS turns such a hypocrite at the later part to me.

For an angel theme drama, even a mini/web drama called Stars of the universe did a way better portrayal & mature writing than Angel Last Mission.
The only good thing in this drama was SHS performance & her dancing, but imo I could just watch a little snippets of her ballet dancing & I'd lose nothing.

I admit though their first few ep was amazing (I've even gave them a 10) but then they just hit rock bottom & had become one of the worst and most overrated drama I've seen this year, or ever, lol.

Another wasting of time, 2019 so far had been such a bad year for kdrama for me.

5.5/10 & given how absurd their writing is in the later half, this is me being generous.

I don’t know if this received mixed reactions from people as it was airing, but all I know it that I enjoyed it from start to finish, majority of the eps left me wanting more.

★ T.H.E ★ A.C.T.I.N.G ★

❐ Shin Hye Sun as Lee Yeon Seo | Choi Seol Hee

I liked how she was expressed her emotions well during the dancing scene where *spoiler* she was seeing Kim Dan when it was Kang Woo that was in front of her. * It made me like her more as an actress and now I can’t wait to see her in other projects, where she takes on the main lead role, as I liked her in ‘thirty but seventeen’ but LOVED her in this more. 10/10

❐ L as Kim Dan | Yoo Seong Woo

He was good, first time watching him in a drama, he portrayed his character really well. 8/10

❐ Lee Dong Gun as Ji Kang Woo

I had a love to hate relationship with him, hated him for being all creepy. Like I get it your *spoiler* past love looks like ^^ But that doesn’t mean you get to be creepy... but I did like him more towards the end... he is the reason why I tried sketch and going to watch leverage so yeah... 10/10

❐ Kim Bo Mi as Geum Ni Na
Glad she wasn't like her family, she was annoying AF(At first) but I starting liking her towards the end, she wasn’t as selfish and crazy as her sister. 7/10

C.O.N.C.L.U.S.I.O.N ★

Loved it, gave it a 10/10 rating, would recommend if you want something not overly romantic ( like her private life for example), cute scenes but with angst too - my type of drama...

Don't think twice whether you should watch it or not when it comes to this drama. The BEST DRAMA EVER in my 12 years of watching kdramas. This drama fits into all the genres..romance,comedy,thriller, fantasy. The actings, the storyline, the OSTs are all beyond perfection. It won't disappoint you. There are full of emotions and this drama is so successful that you will be drawn into this drama naturally and makes you feel like you are part of it. I will nominate this drama for an award not only one but many. Well done guys! Salute to all the crew members.

Okay so first of all it's so hard not to be bias with this drama because you know, Myungsoo <3 haha but nevertheless, here's my two cents:

I would just like to say, hats off to Lee Yeon Soo her life is full of ups and downs. It's the perfect example of a roller coaster life. If I was in her position I wouldn't know what to do. And hands down to Shin Hye Sun, she's truly an excellent actress.

Plot wise I was surprised by how fast the pacing was. If I can remember correctly majority of the "secrets" were revealed in the early episodes of the drama. But even though a lot was revealed already, they still managed to keep it interesting for the viewers to continue watching. The further the story went on, the more complex the emotions were depicted. However, the thing that impressed me the most in the story line is that, they were able to impart the viewers a very valuable lesson that is usually not highlighted in shows these days and that is "true love can be received from various people not just your romantic partner". To be honest, I thought Kim Dan turned into a human when his senior sacrificed himself to save Dan but I was glad it didn't happen immediately then because the montage of the different efforts the couple has received to help Dan become a human was really heartwarming.

However, there are a few reasons why I gave this drama this score and not a higher one. First is I'm not really a fan of the acting of Do Ji Won in this drama it seemed over the top. I've seen her in other dramas and I know she can do better. Second, I don't think Myungsoo was the right choice for Kim Dan. Yes I said it, don't hate me I have my reasons for this. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of his but I'm not quite sure that mature roles like this suit him just yet. Yes, his acting over the years has improved but personally I think he is not yet in this level. Also, I think he is just too good looking. Every time he cries I find it hard to feel compassionate with his character because I get so distracted by his perfect face.
Lastly, there are just a lot of loopholes in the plot that I can't even remember all of them. I think they shouldn't have had Ji Kang Woo fall in love with Yeon Soo without any backstory of how he met her because by making him truly fall for her , it will seem that the love between JKW and Seolhee was not that real and the sacrifice of Seolhee turned out not that meaningful for JKW.

To wrap things up, I'm not regretting that I have watched this drama but I don't think I'll be rewatching it any time soon.

PS: I was surprised at how good Myungsoo is with kissing scenes <3 Honestly made me fall for him more lol. If I can't have him I'll settle for a clone of his hehehe jk.

A drama that`ll take you to paradise

"If the time of eternity was painted in black and white, humans shine in all kinds of colors, as if they can be shattered at any moment." ¬ Kim Dan

"Angel`s Last Mission:Love" is my first experience with Shin Hye-sun`s acting and let me say :I was impressed! Finally, I`ve discovered an actress whose talent almost pours out of her every time she`s on the screen. In fact most of the time, everyone`s acting is without fault, which I`m really glad to see. I`m so happy to see a production whose earnest intentions can be seen through the art it creates. Of course, this drama is not perfect by any means, but its strong points are mighty strong. Like many people have already mentioned on here, and I think the name and the cover art are mostly to blame, if you are expecting an average romantic comedy, curb your expectations because this drama is so much more. Kim Dan and Yeon-seo`s dynamic is amongst my favorite couple dynamics to watch. A pure, childish man and a cold, hardened woman come together with the help of divine power and fall in love. Seeing it spelled out like this, you would think it`d amount to something subpar and shallow but you`d be mistaken. This is a love with tragic consequences you wish you could save. Because both of these characters deserve it. Something about their relationship seems so fragile and precious, reeling this show to a higher rating for me. When their relationship is the focus, or the characters for that matter, it`s great. The OST also helps us feel all the necessary emotions, carrying, with each tune, a note of impending bitterness. It fits in with the story the writers are trying to tell. And it comes across perfectly well. L is also holding his own, though some of the more dramatic scenes require some feeling he`s not able to draw out just yet. Other than this nitpick, nowhere did his acting come off as gratifying or unsatisfactory. The sets and some of the effects are beautiful too, albeit a little too perfect, but that kind of aesthetic fits in with this drama just fine.

Now, after such high praises, I do have some concerns to voice. As I kept watching this drama, in the latter half of it especially, I felt a need to have it shortened. As in, the conflicts that kept appearing, other than the fear of Dan or Yeon-seo disappearing, felt a bit baseless and too unfounded for how good the drama itself was. And this was especially true for the overly evil sister Ru Na, who just became a downright cartoonish villain by the final episode, where her mother still felt somewhat acceptable. Them asking for forgiveness also felt like it was for the sake of the wrapped up happy ending, instead of feeling like it was an organic decision. Basically, the whole evil family story line in the last six episodes felt overblown and unnecessary, is what I'm trying to say. Again, I`m not a fan of the "characters appearing right where they`re supposed to be" or "main characters knowing each other since they were kids" tropes, but the charm and the commendable acting managed to mask these cons. One little nitpick I also have to name for my sake, is that I felt just a touch disappointed that we didn`t get a blind protagonist all the way through but I got over it pretty quickly.

To close up this review, I recommend this drama to those of you who are looking for a new take on star-crossed lovers which will make your feelings soar. Check it out!

Quite a letdown

I had high hopes for this since I love MLs that are "inhuman" or a supernatural being, but sadly it was kind of slow and unsatisfying. The ML was the high point: he was spunky and adorable and endearing, and I would’ve loved to see him in a better story. His angelic nature didn’t factor into the plot as much as I expected, as most of the time he was essentially a regular human guy - no wings, no powers or abilities - which defeats the whole point. (I disliked the trite secret backstory for the same reason; for me, it detracted from what made him unique.) My favorite parts were when he struggled with his divine nature versus what his heart wanted, as well as the rare occasions we got to see his beautiful wings in action! Everything else was difficult to care about: I loathed the 2ML, and the villains with their many board meetings were dull as ditchwater. As far as the FL, I could excuse some of her cold, hateful behavior due to trauma but it took her SO long to soften up or show any actual personality that I don’t know how the ML fell for her. The drama tried to portray them as epic star-crossed lovers but I wasn’t feeling it - they seemed to go from pleasant companions to "I'd die for you" in the blink of an eye. This drama could’ve been something special, which makes it all the more frustrating that it isn’t.

Emotions will be Felt!

This drama is seriously THE BEST, if you want to cry, laugh, smile, have suspense, have hatred towards characters, then this is the drama for you!!!! This drama has, hands down, the best cast and the most amazing story line. I cannot believe that I fell in love with this drama so fast and I am so hooked into it. I do not want it to end but I will say that it is very difficult for me to guess the upcoming events that will occur in this drama (meaning it is unbelievable well written and well played throughout). Anyone who is reading this, YOU HAVE TO, I repeat, YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!!! I will always rate this drama 10/10, you should too!

Now that I have completed it, I am here to say that I really wish there was a season 2. The ending was perfect for this drama. In a way it tells you their future without them saying anything but at least we know what their destiny was and the plan that was set for them. Every person who was casted in this drama accomplished their duty as actors/actresses. They make you truly feel hatred, happiness, worryness, relieved, anxious, etc. There are just too many emotions felt while watching this drama. Please give this drama some love and support.

Thank You for reading my review

Believe me when I say this is one of the best dramas out here (it's one of my favorites at least).

You may think a plot about an angel and a human is going to be super tacky and cheesy. The plot was very well thought out and there weren't and major loose ends. It wasn't super predictable either; sometimes they threw a curveball in there, and boy, was it interesting. The story itself is super unique and original, you won't see anything like it. There aren't many dramas that make me want to keep watching and watching, as I usually get a little bored after a while and take a break. But, this time I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Especially with the cliffhangers on basically every episode!

The acting was incredible, and I couldn't help being totally swept up in the story. The male lead's quirkiness was funny, and I enjoyed his character from beginning to end. I fell in love with his personality almost instantly. Whether he was laughing or crying, I could feel the emotion. Shin Hye Sun did an incredible job playing the female lead and she's just so amazing(and gorgeous may I add). I'm literally about to watch her other dramas because I'm interested to see how she tackled other roles! All the other actors were great. (Ji Kang Woo is a great character. You'll know when you watch it). Even the smaller roles had actors and actresses who knew what they were doing.

The OST. My god. I haven't loved an OST this much since "While You Were Sleeping". I found myself singing along to the songs because they were so good. They played the songs at the perfect moments and it was just so great. L, who played the male lead also sang a song for the drama so it was nice. Every time a song off the OST started playing I would get happy because I just loved hearing it.

I'm in love with this drama and plan to rewatch it sometime in the future. This is the first review I've ever written! That's how much I love it. Give it a chance, it's great.

First of all, the casting was really good.
The drama had me hooked in the beginning, compelling scenes garnished with beautiful OSTs and this left me wanting more.
Along the line, the drama lost direction.
They dragged out the scenes and passed Ji Kang Woo off as the villain when truly, he was a victim of the Deity's harshness and cruelty.
The fact that Hu Sunbae had to be dissipated was really sad, but the more annoying thing was that despite that sacrifice, Dan and the FL still had to go through a lot.
The drama tried to stray away from cliches like 'You who came from the stars' and 'Legend of the blue sea' which have the same Human/Superhuman love story plots, but ended up being underwhelming and repetitive.
Kudos to Shin Hye Sun for bringing her role to life in this drama. I always thought she gave off 'supporting role' vibes, but I think she did a good job in this drama as a FL.

I don't want to give away much, but the drama started off strong and ended off as a huge disappointment.
I don't think I'll re-watch this one, but if it's your cup of tea, go right ahead.

The beginning of this drama was extremely strong, with comedy, tragedy, and budding romance. But towards the last 3/4, things started to get messy. I honestly finished it because of the impeccable performances of the actors. Our main leads were amazing - I truly teared up numerous times on behalf of their characters. Shin Hye Sun will forever be one of my favorites - the emotion she can convey in just her facial expressions is astounding.

Overall, the drama was decent, but would have likely scored higher from me if the ending made more logical scene. I had no issues with the angel concepts throughout the drama, but things became a bit religiously heavy for me with some consistency of rules and explanations missing, which made things confusing in the end.

For example, the ending... Don't get me wrong - I liked the ending, but it doesn't make logical sense to me... If God said _______ can't happen because those were His rules, but then granted ________ in the end (even though it was made abundantly clear that exceptions weren't made), I'm left confused, which takes away from the overall drama.

God's character was more of a general concept in the beginning of the drama, but near the end, he became a more concrete being who would smite those who go against His will. This definitely caused the drama to become heavier and more tragic. As His character became more concrete, I think the drama would have benefited from some explanations and/or clarifications to help justify his motives and goals, aiding in story cohesiveness and audience understanding. With these explanations missing, God's character became difficult to understand with no clear stand. Is He merciful or is He taking pity? Did He give up because they were so persistent? Or did Dan/Yeon Seo earn their ending? Or was it something else? While some might be comfortable with this ambiguity, I am not. Especially when there are such dire consequences for choices made. Writers explained why Dan didn't disappear and successfully "completed his mission," so why not be as thorough in the final ending?

Perhaps I am taking this story way too seriously, but it has left me pondering many things..

Anyways, I don't think I will recommend this drama....Not because it wasn't good, but because I personally struggle with understanding God's character here, which makes the overall message and moral difficult to decipher.

***Note: Please, Come Back Mister, is a drama which I personally believe was much more successful in delivering a story about heavenly beings protecting those living on Earth in a more clear, consistent, and balanced manner.

A Beautiful Romance

If you want to watch a love story you will never forget then watch this one. If you don’t get goosebumps a dozen times and cry with emotion you not a romantic. I saw this series on a friend's favorite list, so I decided to watch it. I am so glad that I did. Shin Kye Sun and Kim Myung Soo were absolutely amazing and had on-screen chemistry that glowed like a brilliant light. Shin Key Sun is so good at portraying unique romances, like Mr. Queen for example. Her acting ability stuns me at times. I would highly recommend this series.

There was drama, smiles, and all the romance you can handle. The supporting actors were great. Each one giving life to a great script. The music was fantastic pulling the emotional strings just when it was needed. I was totally immersed for all 32 episodes. Angel’s Last Mission: Love is now on my all-time favorites list.

And finally, a huge thanks to the Subtitle masters at Viki. Without the subtitles, I would have missed out on one of the most touching dramas I’ve ever seen. I am in your debt.
