Encourages finding Solace despite going through misfortunes !

It has been a long time since I last wrote a KDrama review. I haven’t been watching a drama recently, or if I did, I don’t know how I should write a review about it. Recently, I have been seeing a lot of fun and cute clips about this drama, Angel’s Last Mission: Love. So, I decided to watch it. I haven’t read any reviews about this or even the plot of this drama, so I was only basing the few clips I have seen.

Before I continue with my review or thoughts about this drama, I would like to give some disclaimers. First, I am not a pro at making drama reviews. I only write my opinions, thoughts, and how that certain drama affected me. My opinions may be similar or different from yours. So, it will still be your judgement if you like it or not. Second, this review might contain spoilers. In order for me to fully share my thoughts, I may include some scenes from the drama that I watched.

Things I liked about “Angel’s Last Mission: Love”

The story line
This is my first time watching a drama about an angel who fell in love with a human. Although I know some dramas that also consist of an angel and a human. So, this drama is a bit new to me. To be very honest, it has a typical plot where the main characters have this tragedy love. But what made it special is because of the differences of the characters and how everything doesn’t go the way they wanted it to be. Lee Yeon Seo, a beautiful and well-loved ballerina, lost all her loved ones and even experienced blindness because of an accident. Dan, who was once a human and died when he was still a child, became an angel for Lee Yeon Seo. Both experienced such tragedies, yet both can’t have each other because they are different.

How it constantly made me cry
I love KDramas who makes me cry. Yes, it may feel weird but somehow these kinds of dramas make me realize that I am a human with feelings. This drama is consistent in making me cry. I started crying from the very first episode until the last one. Maybe because I was feeling down lately that made me cry harder than usual. But the scenes were well developed. It all started when Mr. Jo died in the first few episodes and how Yeon Seo reminisced her past with him. Death is truly inevitable. It’s just that we don’t know when it will happen that made it painful. Knowing that Dan can turn into dust on that certain day, the two of them created more memories and enjoyed every second. I don’t actually know which is more painful – to know that your special person is leaving you or to not know at all and be shocked when it happens.

The casts
1) Shin Hye Sun as Lee Yeon Seo
I knew this actress since Legend of the Blue Sea and I really find her so talented. I know some of her dramas, but I haven’t watched it. This is my first time watching her drama where she has the lead role. Definitely, she is one of the best actresses today. I can totally feel the pain she is feeling, the bitterness inside her, everything. Her eyes can show all those emotions without trying hard.

Shin Hye Sun is not a ballerina in real life so it is really challenging for her to do the routines of a true ballerina. But that didn’t stop her from portraying a great role. To whoever casted her in this role, you really did a great job.

2)Kim Myungsoo as Kim Dan
I knew him as a member of the KPOP group Infinite. A lot of my friends actually like him. To be honest, he is really good looking. But the reason why I didn’t stan him is that I feel like there are a lot of people who already likes him, and sometimes I feel like he is too overrated. But I eat my words. I started liking him now because of this drama. Well, I actually do not know if I like Kim Myungsoo or Kim Dan. There’s a difference between the two. Aside from the fact that he is really good to look at, I like that he can make me laugh at a simple phrase or whatsoever. Kim Myungsoo also did a great job in portraying Kim Dan. You can definitely feel that Kim Dan has a pure heart, just quite naïve. I thank this drama for making me like Myungsoo. I just hope I’m not yet too late to like him.

3)Gil Eun Hye as Geum Ru Na
She’s probably one of the best actresses in this drama. She does not do anything yet whenever she appears on screen I get irritated to the point that I wanted to go inside the screen of my computer and slap her. This only means one thing, she is a really good actress.

The use of references
One of the main things I’ve noticed is how they used “Giselle” as a reference to what is currently happening to Yeon Seo and Kim Dan. I am not familiar with the story of Giselle to be honest. I only know Swan Lake in terms of ballets. In Giselle, the guy pretended to be a peasant when in fact he is an upper class. In the drama, Kim Dan pretended to be a human when in fact he is an angel. Giselle fell in love with the guy. Yeon Seo fell in love with Kim Dan.

I love these kinds of stories wherein they use references and somehow incorporate those references on the current story.

Things I somehow disliked about “Angel’s Last Mission: Love”
It’s not that I totally dislike it, it’s just that I needed more.

Lee Dong Gun as Ji Kang Woo
Lee Dong Gun was one of the first K-actors that I admired. I just stopped admiring him when he broke up with Jiyeon and later revealed that he is getting married with another woman and that woman is pregnant. I don’t know the whole story but yeah, I kinda feel awkward with him ever since . Anyway, Lee Dong Gun is still a great actor up until now. It’s just that think he is physically suited to play the role of Ji Kang Woo. It’s just my own preference. But I wanted someone who is a bit younger than him who can play the role. Nonetheless, he is still good.

Ending
I wanted it to be a happy ending. Well, who doesn’t right? Because after all the hardships that Lee Yeon Seo felt, I believe she deserves a happy ending. The good thing is, yes, it was a happy ending, but it lacks something. I needed more. All throughout the drama, I felt pain. There were only few happy moments and until the very last time, it was still few. How does Ms. Jung feel when Kim Dan was back? What did they do after? I needed more happy interactions for the very last time. But I was deprived from having it. Well, at least it was a happy ending. That was the only thing that I tell myself so that I won’t feel disappointed.

Thoughts on the ending, Conclusion & Lessons
Before watching it, I honestly thought that it was a fun and chill drama because almost all the clips I have seen are funny. I wanted to watch a chill drama since “Voice 3” was a bit heartbreaking for me (I still can’t even write a proper review of it). But as I watch the first episode, I realized that it wasn’t a chill drama. It was a heavy one. But nevertheless, I liked it and it probably became part of my top 3 favorite KDrama of all time together with Scarlet Heart Ryeo and W: Two Worlds. This drama still left me a lot of questions. Like what I mentioned earlier, how does Ms. Jung feel knowing that Kim Dan was back? Also, how about Geum Ru Na? Was she possessed by an evil spirit because whenever she had plans on her mind a whisper can be heard? I didn’t get any answers to that. But I guess, it’s just a part of the story. There are some questions better left unanswered.

There are a few things that I learned in this drama. First, “People come, and people go”. Not everyone in our lives will continue to stay in our lives. They will eventually die or just leave us. So, we should just cherish every moment we have to that certain person.

Second, we get mad at God most of the time for not giving us what we want. There are even times that we start to question Him on why He is doing such things to human beings. If He is really the God of Love why are we suffering? Even an angel asked Him these during the series. Sometimes, we just tend follow our own instincts that is why we feel like we are betrayed by Him. Everything has their own time and every prayer has their own answers. But whatever answer it may be, it’s for the best.
That doesn’t mean that we should no longer ask Him and just go on with the flow. We should always align our prayers to His will. And believe me, He answers prayers.

Third, not all the time we can get what we want even if we have worked hard for it. Geum Ni Na is a great example. She worked hard but at the end she still loses the spot of being Giselle. Maybe it’s not yet her time? Or maybe it’s not really the path for her. At the end of the drama, she became an instructor to children and there she is happy. Most of the time, we tend to focus on what we want and sometimes forget that there are still other things around us. I am not saying that we should no longer work hard for the things we want but we should know when to continue and when to stop.

Angel’s Last Mission: Love is a drama that I will treasure forever. I thank those who created this for giving me such a great time. How about you? What are your thoughts in this drama?

The love between them

_Plot is unique and interesting.
_They had great chemistry from the starting
. The character development was good too.
_Every emotion is portrayed nicely such as sacrifices , pain and love which might make you cry .
_These kdrama are hidden gems which make good connectivity with audience .
_And not to mention the OSTs.
_It might even make you feel nostalgic at some point.
_ I can still remember when I First watched it . Though , not many people know about this drama ( underrated) but for me it was a worth watching series

Why this is one of my favourite dramas

I don't even know how to begin.
This Drama was amazing and beautiful and I loved it entirely. There was honestly not a moment where I thought it was bad in anyway. The plot was so intense and beautiful and the actors managed to portray it as such. The plot twists kept me on edge and they were so creative. The characters were lovable too and you could really get an understanding of where each character comes from. I genuinely felt that this could be a realistic story besides the angel thing, but yeah!
The ending was also so satisfying. If the ending is bad, it automatically makes the story feel incomplete, but this drama had a lovely end and I was so happy at what happened (you'll know what I mean if you've watched it)
Anyway. This drama was amazing and if you are considering watching it. DO IT! You will not regret it. I promise!

I mean, it was good at its first half, but what happened after that lmaoooo I have seen so many overrated Kdramas but at least this I didn't drop because Shin Hye Sun is excellent. This drama would be one of her not the best works so far. It started good, but getting 'meh' at second half. It is just... weak.

I have to agree on L's overdone acting but heyyy at least he gets better (I really dislike idols in dramas but nevermind tho). Shin Hye Sun is superb, you will cry together with her. I still think this is another waste of drama project for her. The chemistry is hella fine, I pretty much enjoyed the break through of bad boys getting the girls, like finally, we have another story of a nice guy from the start to the end.

I guess the writer met his/her writer's block. The drama is average.

Loved, LOVED this drama. From the first episode I fell in love with it. I was never a big fan of L’s acting nor didn’t really notice Shin Hye Sun very much but those two together in this drama was like fate. The acting was terrific and the plot line was great. Not to mention the beautiful OST and the elegant ballet scenes. It got my heart pumping during the middle of the drama not knowing how it was going to go. I poured my time and love into this show and have not regretted it one bit
The last few episodes broke my cry record, I bawled so hard and have never felt such a bittersweet moment when it ended. I plan to rewatch this for a good while and to cry again.
I HIGHLY recommend at least a first episode watch. 10/10.

I rarely review dramas here. I should do this more, I know. I'm even wondering why I'm doing this as I'm typing it. Is it because it's special? Is it because it tugged at my heartstrings? Or is it something more?

I guess it really is something more because I cried buckets for this drama. The last time I cried this much was for Scarlet Heart Ryeo and that was for weeks and weeks! This time, I had the pleasure of binge watching it for just a day. I finished it at 2 am. Every episode, I would find something to cry about, so by the end of it all, I honestly looked like the crypt keeper.

I am fairly new, but kind of a BIG fan of SHIN HYE SUN. I loved her in THIRTY BUT SEVENTEEN because of her superb acting. This drama cemented it in my eyes. She knows how to bring out these wide range of emotions. Recently, she also developed a knack for choosing the right roles! I love, love, love Lee Yeon Seo's character. She's the right mixture of strong and gentle. In all episodes, looking at her expressions and how she took in everything that came her way it made me appreciate her as well as her story.

Myung Soo is a REVELATION! I was never a fan before I watched this drama. I watched him in Miss Hammurabi and I always thought there was something missing. I totally, totally changed my mind. He's great! He's oh so good that I was swept away by all of his charm AND his DRAMATIC skills too! I was crying when he was crying (yes, it seems that all I did was cry while watching this drama). I am in love with the idea of an angel trying his best to do what's right, but I am more in love with the angel himself. :) I am looking forward to more dramas with him in it.

The story is very, very, VERY satisfying! It was such a big build up. It truly felt like I was going up this roller coaster ride, fell down, went around and around, slowed down a little then went up again to come out to this smooth finish. I breathed a sigh of relief for everybody .

If I had any complaints, it would only be that it ended. I wished to see more of their lives, but that's just me fangirling. I can definitely continue their story in my mind. :)

So yeah, if you're a fan of fantasy, romance or drama, WATCH THIS!

Really beautiful drama.

The story was well written and the theme about ballet was well chosen as well. The fragility of the dance is mirrored in the plot. Ballet is fragile yet strong, and so is the love story of Yeon Soo and Dan.

Though the big finale was predictable, it was still very good. You anticipate it to happen and just want to know how it's playing out in the end.

Not everything was predictable though, there were also many smaller things that surprised me. I'm also glad that not every death was a planned assassination here.

Acting was really, really good. I'm used to Shin Hye Sun's convincing skills, but I have to praise L's performance even more. He improved a lot since I last saw him in a drama. His scenes were never lacking nor were they exaggerated. It seemed as if Dan's character was written for L's body and soul. I can't think of anyone else more fitting.

The cinematography of some scenes were quite an eyecatcher. And to complete the picture, the music was at its best. It was so well composed and placed that the drama would truly have missed out if it wouldn't have been a part of it. It's one of those soundtracks that makes you immediately remember the drama that belonged to it. It was sad and beautiful and comforting and hopeful.

Definitely recommended.

Light, fun, cute romance.

There is no mistaking that romance is one of the most popular genres of drama, and sometimes romance dramas can be flat where they primarily focus on the romance and the rest of the drama falls flat.

This is a drama where the romance is perfectly executed, and the storyline is well balanced throughout all the episodes so you rarely feel bored. The concept of the drama itself is relatively unique, with an angel looking to find love for a bitter ballerina.

In this drama, the strength and wealth of the female character matched with the humour and carefree spirit of the male lead is a good refresh from the usual stereotype of a strong male and weaker female lead. Both Kim Myungsoo and Shin Hye Sun fantastically portray their characters, truly making you engage and enjoy the storyline. Kim Myungsoo is effective at making Kim Dan a lively angel, with a good amount of comedy sprinkled into his acting, helping to keep the drama lighthearted and fun. The two have a very good dynamic together, which helps to make the drama more believable and satisfying to watch.

The chemistry between the two builds throughout the 32 episodes, without leaving areas where there is a lull in the storyline where it can begin to get boring as I often find in other romance dramas. As a romance drama, their effective and engaging chemistry takes the forefront of the story, however there are many different elements and other storylines which can keep you engaged. There is a good balance between the sub storylines, which add in some suspense and intrigue .

To conclude, the leads in the drama have fantastic chemistry, and the storyline has a good balance of a variety of different elements, such as romance and suspense.

A story with ballet, but not about ballet. / Uma história com ballet, mas não sobre ballet.

A story with ballet, but not about ballet.

STORY - A magnificent and confident ballerina goes blind. Before that, she lost her parents in an accident. Discouraged, frustrated, she lost herself in a world of self-destruction and lack of interest in life. No friends, her own family wish her misfortune and only two loyal servants support her.
Her desire is to commit suicide, but a very clumsy and incompetent angel appears, who saves her, going against his duties.
Twists and turns, loves and dislikes and scenes involving the dynamics of angels (Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders please return!).
She recovers her eyesight, can dance again and, miraculously, continues to outperform all the others. With a new choreographer (like Daedalus fallen from the sky), she prepares for the premiere of the new show and….
Love conquers all.
The villains are despicable and uninteresting. Imbecile uncles, a cousin who feigns ignorance and for whom they destroy Yeon Seo's life. And her psychopathic older cousin.
The boss in charge of the Angel is boring, the almost homeless ballerina and teacher…

ACTING - Shin Hye Sun is an excellent actress and, as always, is superb in a role that could be better. The rest, almost all of them, despite a hole below, fulfill their roles.

MUSIC – with the music of Ballet present the quality is immediate.

REWATCH – I don't think so. There is no scene that stands out, the story is extremely boring as far as the celestial part is concerned (sounds like Philip K Dick's The Adjustment Bureau – but written badly), the villainy scenes are boring. Even the romance didn't convince me. Everything was very fast, the falling in love, which is strange in a Korean series where, normally, a kiss takes 10 episodes or does not appear at all.

OVERALL – I love rom-coms, I think the lead actress is divine in her performances (especially in Mr. Queen), I always wish for happy endings, which are not outlandish, but which may not be the most logical ending to a drama. But this one didn't convince me.

REWATCH – não me parece.

I honestly don't know what I am feeling about this drama. It started off very strong. The FL was amazing, the acting, the story, and especially the 2nd Male lead. This is the first time I've ever shipped the FL with the 2nd FL and I've watched over 50 kdramas. That soon changed in the middle. Like, the story became a complete mess. Everything dragged... it felt sooo slow and boring even tho I thought it would become a favorite of mine. The FL became whiney, the 2nd ML became evil AF and Kim Dan...He was a bit...plain? throughout the series, i didn't really like L as the ML but his acting was great. Ru Na was just weird. RuNa's mom was extremely evil in the first half and then she suddenly became pitiful and would never kill a person even tho she stopped many cornea donations?! Like tf. I think they didn't know what they wanted to do with the story and that's what made it fail in my eyes.
However, it was very emotional and cute. The acting was AMAZING and the 2ML's acting was more than what was expected of him. I think there are some plotholes or some things that just don't feel really well done but i think I've had very high expectations when i started this drama. I give it a 7.5 bc
1. the story was a mess at some point
2. It was very slow in the middle (8-14)
3. the story was entertaining and I constantly wanted to know what would happen next
4. it was cute and made me think a lot about God, angels, life, purpose, and all that stuff
5. I loved the FL's personality
6. The butler, she was so amazing and caring
7. The FL's and ML's later relationship (after he told her the truth) was soooooo cute and they were so protective of each other!!

I think the story had a lot of potential but well

The plot is not perfect and it has up and down moments but overall, despite a few clichés, it's innovative and well written. From a light mystery romance it turned into something deeper and melancholy, but without giving up a few moments of comedy. I loved the whole idea about angels who fall in love but the mystery part about the villains was a bit too draggy maybe less "drama" and 12 episodes were enough to close the story.

The great performance of the cast brought on the screen all this deep emotions, portraying perfectly their roles and the story. I never been a fan of Shin Hye Sun but her performance was brilliant, also "L" for being a newbie did a really good job, specially considering that his rival on screen was Lee Dong Gun. The rest of the cast was also great considering the overall quality of the screenplay they had to perform.

I also never been a fan of ballet but I loved it in this drama, the theme of ballet has expressed perfectly the main theme, love can be beautiful and powerful but also hard to accomplish and sad.
The ending also fit perfectly with the message of the drama, truly love someone means being able to sacrifice ourself to those we love, but the sacrifice will be repaid. I am not a believer but I think it is an adequate ending also in religious terms, since the drama is about angels and deity's plan after all.

I can't say this is a perferct drama but it deserved to be watch, if you can overcome a few draggy moments it can gives you a beautiful love-story and tons of emotions. Besides the soundtrack is wonderful!

It was really engaging, until the last quarter..

-- STORY --
The beginning was great.
We have the shady family politics from the FL's side — the mysterious supernatural world from the ML.
Combining these two universes created an engaging setting.

For the first half, pacing was great, everything made sense and it was suspense after another.
However, the same can't be said for the latter.

They start cutting off all aspects of the show that gave it its potential. The FL's return in her ballerina career? Oversimplified. The 2ML being a previous angel was a great idea but nothing was done with it. The development of the angel world? no, but magical things continue to happen only at convenient times.

Instead, what we got was excessive montage footage of slow music, and back-and-forth 30-second cuts between our FL and ML looking at each other. I ended up watching these parts at 2x speed and it still felt repetitive and annoying. The directors wanted to force more chemistry between the two but it flopped because there was no substance in their dialogs — it's just them crying to each other that they don't want to be separated.

Lastly, the latter half really suffered from illogical events that either made no sense or were just unexplained.

The antagonists started using more drastic measures that threatened their own lives without giving them enough of a reason to do so. This is just the classic one-dimensional villain. Even worse, when they finally got caught in the media, they were still being let to roam free. Where is a proper criminal investigation for the induced car accident, which the show did identify as murder?

When the FL had a stab wound, she decided to dance instead of going to the hospital right away.

The connection of the ML and Seong Woo being the same person was a fascinating idea but nothing was really done with it, so it felt like an unfinished thought.

Things behind the deity, the angels were never explained. Perhaps this is an over-critism but the rules of what an angel can or can't do didn't seem consistent. Why did Dan's wings appear in the rain? Why did Dan turn into a human randomly? Why did Dan suddenly appear again? These were never explained.

-- ACTING --
The acting of this cast is just alright. The FL carried the most difficult role in her complex character. She indeed carried the acting for the entire show IMO. Kim Myung Soo (actor of the ML) did a good job but fell short on the performance when he was sad. He's good at the romantic eye gazes but didn't offer much for emotional delivery. Other worthy mentions are Ni Na's mother and Ni Na herself.

-- SOUND & MUSIC --
The soundtrack Pray by Klang, Oh My Angel by CHAI embodied this drama perfectly.
However, sweeter by Jess Penner (used in the fluffy romantic scenes) felt abrupt and forced every time it came on just like the scenes themselves.

-- REWATCH VALUE --
Almost no rewatch value for me. Majority of the excitement in this show were from the worldbuilding of the angels and the suspense of what the antagonists would do next, but these things are either unexplained or didn't happen within logic.
