I loved this serie so much that I got so excited for the release of the next episode although I'm normally a calm person. I fell in love with the main couple TharnType (MewGulf) and just could,'t get enough of them they were just so lovely and sweet together. During the whole serie I was able to feel every single emotion they acted and believed it to 100% percent because their acting was so great.

To be honest I still can't think of a reason why Tharn would love a guy with a charakter like Type but if you like some guys with a badass and hot-blooded temper it's possible. I was so glad that both of them got a happy end together even though i would have been happy to see even more of Tharn (Mew) and Type (Gulf).

Let's start on how much popularity this series has gained throughout the last months. I have to say that they did an spectacular work on this specific series, even if it was low cost it was truly the best BL I have ever seen and I have seen A LOT of them.
They has a kiss scene from episode 4 in all episodes, they even kissed twice an episode, the hot scenes were good (the best ones I have seen in an oriental {thai} bl).
The two main leads Mew Suppasit and Gulf Kanawat did an extremely impressive work, they do HAVE great chemistry they worked really hard to perform their characters and tried to represent them as in the book.
Even though this is the first time Gulf work as main lead he did a great job and left us with hanging mouths, he truly did his best and it shows.
The story was very good, very similar to the one in the book (some hot scenes were modified) but it was well developed and with an spectacular ending.
They even gifted us with a second special episode which will be released soon for international fans to watch it

I really hope for #MewGulf to have more projects together and for a season 2 of this one in particular.

Hope this has been useful for you.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED‼‼

Tharn Type was a show that I did not plan on watching. Love by chance was great and I knew the series was in the same universe but something did not particularly attract my attention. I also wasn't invested in the fact that they were recasting certain characters that had already been introduce into the LBC canon such as Techno, Tum, Tar, and the titular Type. The first episode caused a lot of buzz around the content and behavior of Tharn and I was curious enough to see if it was really enough to warrant so much. I am glad I did as it sucked me in with the first episode. This series was close to perfect.
Pros: the ost for tharntype was on another level and it's been almost a month since it finished airing and I'm still humming it.
The recasts were well done. I enjoyed this Type more, not that Earth isn't an incredible and underrated actor, but he was very expressive and although his behavior in the beginning was infuriating, he had a gentle air about him that made him alluring. Techno's new actor was also great. I enjoy seeing the actor in other roles but this might have been his best yet.
Cons: the only downside i would give is that the plot became repetitive at points. Episodes 5 through 10 seemed to all be the same "Type gets mad at Tharn or hurts Tharn's feelings, he gets told he's being a jerk, he feels bad, he apologizes, all is forgiven" it would have benefited from less of that.
Overall: I enjoyed the serious and would love to get some more content.

SO AMAZING!

This is the first ever BL I watched. I just happened to come across a small part of this on TikTok and was hooked immediately.

Now going into this show I had no idea what it was about. I did not look anything up, I didn't know who the actors were, I had never even heard of BL series before I watched this.

So in the beginning, when Type first says he hates gays, I honestly didn't know where this story was going until his friend Techno came in saying his roommate was gay. This series took off fast with Type trying to shove Tharn out because he hated him for being gay. Tharn's counterattack was epic. And you know when the music dropped that things were about to get real. Ha ha. I'll admit, I was a little put out that he was so biased and we didn't even know why... until Type got sick and he had his nightmare... I had a inkling of the issue but didn't want to assume.

Needless to say when it came out he was molested, I cried along with him. The fact that even though Tharn knew Type hated him, he still comforted him. Then those other gay characters interfered and things got crazy, but Tharn once again stepped in and helped.

I won't continue to add spoilers. All I have to say, is that the acting was amazing. I could literally feel the emotions like to was happening to me, it was that good. The music, the story, the whole dang production of this series was amazing. I also enjoyed how they added in the goofy little noises and everything with certain scenes that made it that much better.

I've already watched this series 3 times in the month since I started, so yes, 10/10 would watch again. I hope everyone else enjoys it.

I finished rewatching this drama yesterday, and even though I have never written a review before, I really feel like telling my opinion on this drama.

I have watched a feew thai bl's and I must say, Tharntype must definitely be my favourite one! The chemistry of Mew and Gulf is off charts, seriously, I don't think I have seen a couple with that much chemistry on or off screen!

The story was pretty good, I think the main plot wasn't super original or something, but kept me interested in watching. The acting of the main actors was perfect! Really good casting, the main actors' chemistry was what probably got me so interested in this drama.

I definitely would recommend this bl, it was one of the best dramas have watched and if you like romantic scenes, you're definitely gonna love Tharntype!

A bit overrated

The show was hyped up so I thought it would be better. Plus, I like MewGulf, but I don't particularly like TharnType. Type is a terrible boyfriend and is so rude to Tharn. I don't like his character. Like at sometimes they're cute, but then other times it's like really? Like that one time where he punched Tharn, even though he clearly saw Sarn kiss Tharn? Like what was that about? Type has some issues, and their relationship overall was toxic. Also, I don't really like that they tried to justify Lhong's actions at the end, because what he did to Tar was terrible. Maybe that's not what the director and writer meant at all, but that's how I felt. Anyways, I don't completely hate the show, but it's not all it's hyped up to be. I liked the new Techno and the other side characters. i also like Tharn, except the fact that he was a pushover. I also loved the OST, I still listen to it. TBH, I feel like the toxicness and the issues kind of got overshadowed by the sex/kiss scenes and the handsome actors.

Im usually a lurker on here using it as a means to organize my BL dramas but I felt so compelled to write my first ever review for this show. TharnType has easily made it's way to the top of my BL favorites. This show is packed with tons of cute soft moments from our main couple and I just die every single time. So if you're looking for some good BL content this is the one for you. There is a good amount of angst and fluff from the couple to keep things balanced. Speaking of the couple, I love them to bits! Now I'm not saying they're perfect (for reason's I'll get to in a moment) but the acting from Mew and Gulf really shines and I need them to do more projects together because the chemistry my lordt it was great!

For the story, while I will admit that I didn't watch from the very beginning (actually came in around ep 4/5) I like how the couple ends up and they feel real compared to other BL couples I've experienced. I like how they actually take the time to talk out some of their problems (such as Type being a selfish jerk at times and not taking Tharn's feelings into consideration) and actually working through them like adults, unlike some BL couples who take minor issues and BLOW them way out of proportion. Type's character develop is DEFINITELY my favorite thing in the show. If I'm not wrong I believe I saw that this was Gulf's first BL role and again knocked it out the park. You can never go wrong with having a cold heart Tsundere type falling in love and becoming so naturally soft. It was an interesting to see the homophobe turn into....well a homo lol. My only thing with the show was how they handled to more heavy topic of sexual assault. Now for me BL content isn't meant to be taken that seriously (especially when you have anime like Dakaichi) but, if we're gonna bring up something so sensitive, highlight it, and make it a key component of a character, then I want it to be handled with care. I don't wanna go too far into the subject but all I'll say is Tharn is lucky that Type didn't out right kill him in the beginning for for advances considering how Type is both a victim of assault from a gay man plus he was very homophobic. I love Tharn and I love Type but the first couple of episodes were a bit cringe and made Tharn come off a bit creepy. That's the only reason I couldn't give the story a 10/10...now the acting that's different.

Like I just said, for this to be Gulf's first BL acting gig he did good. He did so well bringing the character to life even down to the little expressions. Even during that argument I mentioned above, when Tharn calls Type out on his behavior, you can see Type's face go wtf for a second as if he's thinking "damn and I really like that? I guess I can be a bit much". That sparks change in him and he tries to be a bit more considerate and genuinely starts to change for Tharn. You can literally see Type's shift in his personality from those minor details. He starts to smile more, he becomes a bit more vulnerable and open to expressing his love, and overall he becomes happier. Easily one of my new fav BL actors. Speaking of the acting, did I mention how great the chemistry is between Mew and Gulf. This pair is seriously a match made in heaven. Too many times there is this awkwardness between couples that makes any intimate interaction feel cringe and forced but NONE of that here. Mew and Gulf took the time to get super comfortable outside the set I'm sure and I would assumed they practiced practiced practiced because that kiss scene (you know the one), best kiss scene from a BL hands down, fight me about it. If they ever get paired together again as leads, it's gonna be an instant watch for me because I just can't get enough of MewGulf.

Sorry if it was a bit wordy. Overall, I seriously enjoyed this show and I love how the universe of TharnType is tied into other shows I've seen and now makes me want to go back and rewatch my other fav series Love By Chance. I didn't realize until about half way through that TharnType are characters I've met before just played by different characters. I believe this is a cute show for both casual viewers and huge fans for the genre. Good fluff, a perfect amount of angst, good chemistry, good storyline, good character development...outside of that one thing I have no complaints. Would definitely recommend this series!

An enigma

This review is quite difficult to write, mainly because the story has some "flaws" that only westerners would consider flaws.

For example, they are violent, there is rape and there are convoluted plots, some of which are only moved on by rape. Additionally, both leads are grade-A assholes to each other - or at least that's how WE, westerners, perceive it.

Thailand has very different social norms, comparatively. It isn't at all unheard of to joke about rape, give blunt (sometimes uncaring sounding) answers, and to be selfish like the characters can appear. But that's not a slight on the characters, but more the issue with Thailand as a whole, and with the "rape/internalised homophobia" that could very well be a situation in Thailand with how that culture is. Not to mention the stigma of all BL novels or manga in any asian culture that rape and exes and jealousy are sure to bring.

The story is better than the first half gives it credit.
Wait until they leave the dorms before you decide to drop this series. The actors are phenomenal, and I have never seen better chemistry on screen except for "Addicted" which was on par. Some characters I barely recognised when they played such brilliant emotions, and that really is the crux of why I gave it a 10. You can really FEEL the characters emotions, and many times, I felt myself reminiscing back to my past love life and feeling connections to the characters on screen.

I also have to quickly mention that I appreciate how the actors had a lot of kinship, kissed multiple times, had "sex" multiple times and had the discussion about who was on top or bottom of the dynamic.

I think this would be a brilliant show to rewatch, purely because you can ignore the angst on a rewatch and enjoy the fluff.

Finally, this doesn't have to be watched in order. I started with this series, and haven't watched anything else to do with Love by chance etc. But I still understood it well, and appreciate the story.

Story is the key. That's it. A beautiful story with great acting from actors. Some may say this series has some abuse or violence but I felt it's completely ok according to the story. Acting is fantastic. I always feel a bit lacking with actors in most of the series but here both leads r competing with each other in acting which resulted in great outcome. OST is another plus point. It shows us the leads emotions. Supporting actors done a very gd job especially Techno. Lhong is an innocent villain who had done everything but we don't know by looking at his face. Overall this series is 100+. Must watch.

honestly, i liked it.

i honestly really liked this series. i get the some-what abusive(ish)
behavior coming from type as he hits, kicks, and strikes tharn a
lot.
im not too sure why everyone doesnt like this series too much.
the huge plot twist with lhong really got me. i wasnt expecting
that. i knew from the start what lhong had some sort of liking
towards tharn that wasnt just as bestfriends. i really do feel bad for
lhong though i really do like tharn and type together, lhong just
kinda got thrown to the side a little. ( like type says ) the acting in
this was really good, actually. i felt the feelings that the actors felt
during this. the break up really got to me. overall, great series.
will definitely be watching again in the future.

Not worth the watch

Just like everyone else I started watching this series because of how catchy ep 1 & 2 was. I was wrong for keeping watching this series, as I completely missed out the wrongs and bads.

1. STORY/ACTING

I'm gonna honest and say that this series is romanticizing sexual assualt, which is 1000% wrong to do so. Already in the first episodes we had Tharn who thought it was a good idea to kiss and leave hickeys on Type, without conset, and on top of that,, he was cleary drunk? You really gotta be smart to be that dumb. This is straight upborderline sexual assault, a serious topic that never were discussed.

2. NOT HANDLING MENTAL ILLNESS WELL

In of the episodes, we see Type opening up to Tharn, where he talk about him being raped as a 11 year old. The way Tharn behaved toward Type was very problematic, and clearly he didn't respect Type boundaries. As someone opening up his traumas/PTSD, the first thing YOU SHOULDN'T DO is hug that person. There must be other ways to help him out
Type was already struggling as it is, and he didn't need anything to top up the trauma he went through. A very bad way to portrait a gay character.

3. ROMANTICIZING TOXIC BEHAVIOURS

As Tharn and Types characters developed, I honestly thought we would see some progression in their relationship. I thought that, now that they've become a couple, they would open up to each other and solve their problems between them. But oh well, I was wrong. And not to mention Type hitting Tharn, not once but twice, when he confessed in front of Tharns childhood "friend". And then they proceed to move over to the "steamy scenes"?
It was very confusing to watch, and I was very confused - I was thinking to myself, should I like this couple or not?
Tharn pushes the next boundary without conset and then gets mad when Type is upset? (Was that supposed to be innocent acting or..?)
After Type admits that they are something more than friends, Tharn convinces him to go out into public and drink, then within the next minute he kisses him IN PUBLIC without asking, something Type wasn't ready for.
The same goes for Type. He was a complete asshole and really was way too impulsive and had close to zero redeeming qualities. I failed to see why I should cheer for him and his happiness when I simply did not like him as a human being.

4. WHAT I LIKED

I must admit, I found the fluffy cute scenes between them cute. But the rest, I literally skipped it all and cringed very bad. The writing and the scripting WAS HORRIBLE. The director must be new to all this, and I am hoping he did a better job now that Tharntype 2 is coming out this week.
Surpringsly, I lived for the OST. Till this day it's a BOP.

5. OVERALL

Not worth the watch at all. Would I consider rewatching it? Absolutely not! Let's hope season 2 is something I can watch lol

Major spoiler alert

How the fuck is Lhong not in jail?!
I don't care if his parents didn't love him enough, he paid people to rape a kid, for fuck sake.
I can't believe how everyone is scared to talk about Love By Chance because that's problematic, but they're all fine with all this crap happening and then the characters making it about Tharn who sufferd cause he's got broken up with. A kid got raped, filmed and blackmailed and the asshole who did it didn't even pay for it and I should pity Tharn?
And I swear I don't search for politically correctness in dramas, I don't care if a relationship isn't the healthiest in fiction, I have thick skin for this kind of stuff, but this made me so mad.
Lhong is a dangerous psycopath, just go to the fucking police, idiots
