It was a Wattpad wet dream at best

All the tropes were toxic, Tharn and Type are the worst couple in BL IMO. This was the 3rd BL I ever watched and after I finished it I felt disgusted with myself for sitting through such a horrifying portrayal of “love”. This taught me to avoid the MAME cinematic universe for the foreseeable future.

There should have been so many trigger warnings preceding the show so the viewers will brace for the shitstorm they are about to sit through. There were so many opportunities for the story to take a different direction but MAME decided to go down the toxic route. The trauma experienced by the characters was portrayed well by the actors but the resolution fell flat. MAME loves redeeming her toxic characters by giving them sad backstories or just straight up having their victim forgive them.

Dreadful actually

So, I watched it because it's THE Bl, you know. You gotta watch it to understand why people love it or why they hate it.

While I did enjoy ep 1 enough, I could not for the love of god enjoy the rest. TharnType are assholes and they deserve each other lol. Admittedly, they do have crazy chemistry. When they are not assholes to each other and being couply, they actually are quite cute. That's why I really enjoyed their special ep which was mostly fluff.

The acting is alright I guess. The characters are hella infuriating, you just wanna slap them all the damn time. Except for Techno, the only guy with a braincell.

Everything and everyone is pretty dramatic and toxic, lots of people love that (as you can see), but it's not for me. I probably won't watch S2 either.

I personally dislike this BL, And ill tell you why here

|| May contain Spoilers || Overall just my opinion ||
|| This review might be all over the place… ||

For starters this was one of my first BLS i watched. It was extremely popular when i watched it, So i thought it was gonna be AMAZING!!!! Well was i wrong… Lol

I loved the songs in this BL I’m not gonna lie. They are catchy and when they play every Now and then I catch myself humming and singing Along.

The chemistry Mew and gulf had was pretty good, I just hated the whole storyline to the BL and the stereotypes in it??? I watched it with my family members too. i felt embarrassed after watching it because it was so bad.

The way tharn molested type constantly after knowing his Childhood trauma with the subject was beyond me.
“ I dont fuck drunks “ No you molest them. Tharns character was truly sickening im not joking. I Didnt mind him at first but it kept getting so bad. Not saying Types any better though!! It seems like they tried to portray Tharn to be the “ Good guy “ In this show, And by them showing him Molest Type multiple times.. And do many other bad things.. Definitely did not give him that Title. Not only did he molest type but he did many things without CONSENT!!! Like that one time in the Bar where tharn was singing(??) And he went over and tried kissing type without consent..!!! I’m not saying they did wrong to portray This type of stuff in the drama, Its just the way they did.

Also the homophobia Shit.. Type is a gay character but is homophobic still and judges Gays, Not saying this isnt realistic Because people like this truly Do exist. They aren't nonexistent. Its just the way they portrayed it and constantly made it the topic of the drama.

The whole drama was just full of stereotypes, DRAMA, SA, ETC!!! It was all over the place!! I should have dropped it and not watched S1 & S2 Fully???? I thought maybe the directors would learn their Mistakes and fix something and make the characters have development. But nope..

Also what the fuck did Tharn see in Type. He was rude, HOMOPHOBIC?? Like did Tharn think to himself “ I can fix him🥺🥺 “ Fucks sake?? Type was just a complete asshole, He was a hot mess. He needs to go to therapy and anger management.

And dont even get me started on Lhong. He was a good friend to Tharn but DAMN was he crazy behind those smiles and that helpful personality.. His true colors showed QUICK. He should have gone to jail or a psych ward, Lets be for real!!!!!

Also i dont get how they make such old actors ( old looking actors too ) Play young highschool or university students. For example Mew was what…? 28 And portrayed a 19 year old. I dont get it…

Also tar looked like he was a baby, His story was sad and i dont get why he did the things he did but whatever, And that guy that was always with him, Forgot his name Lol, I always thought they were brothers or something But maybe i didnt pay attention to them well enough.. They confused me🤷🏽.

Also i dont get how Types character went from HATING gays to having constant sex with Tharn🤦🏽

Okay i'm done with this Review, I guess we can say i just DISLIKE This drama and dont understand it one bit!!

OVERRATED

I dont understand the hype about this series tbh. Everyone overlooked the amount of toxicity in the characters.

Type's character was so toxic, i understand he has his reason and he has trauma but using his trauma as a reason to be an asshole is not it.

And BJ was totally non-consensual,, the sex scenes in general felt forced. Tharn took advantage of type every night even though he knew about type's past abuse.

Tharn's Character is also a big red flag. He is so possessive and that amount of possessiveness can never make a healthy relationship. Forcing himself on type because he saw the other flirting girls? Red Flag.
And honestly, Long's behavior should've been punishable, he should've been reported,, i don't get why they justified him.

Sorry if it offended anyone who loves this series. This is just not for me.

Like What in the WOLRD did I just watched?!?!

No offense to the actors, author or Production or whatsoever...

But this storyline has so many mad red flags:

- Romanticizing of Sexual Assault (the character Tharn was a piece of sh*t, who told you can touch a sexual assault victim without his consent?!)
- toxic behavior and unreasonable behavior (Type, Tharn and especially you Lhong)
- character Type, like really?! Even when you hated gays because of your past trauma, you had no legal rights to mess with the stuff of other people. And why nearly the end of the story when your good friend come out to as gay you judged him when you were taking up a d*ck yourself...like makes no sens to me BOI.
- this isn't how sexual assault victim overcome their trauma (at least in my opinion, maybe I am overlooking something). What this BOI needed is a therapy and healthy environment to overcome his past trauma and not toxic drama with no common sense...

I believe this could have been a hidden gem of slice-of-life-trope. With a story of a young boy/ young man, who struggles to over his past demons, who are hunting and tormenting him daily. And with the help of his loved ones and real friends, he could have sought out professional help and treatment. And that with each step he could have found his way back to the light out of his nightmares, back into reality. Then they could have slowly introduced the male lead, Tharn, with his story. I think they could have thought a more beautiful and lovely way for Type and Tharn to meet. Of starting to know each other, starting from study-mates to friends to lovers, falling in love (showing the real struggle to fall in love without stupid misunderstandings), confessing to each other, meeting the family and friends of each other, starting to build (a realistic) life with each other and so much more. Maybe I am just a hopelessly romantic (from all the novels I read daily) but I still believe they could have done better.

Beyond Toxic

They wasted all the actors' good acting with this script full of romanticizations.

First of all, Type is extremely homophobic, a consequence of child abuse he suffered, and mistreats Tharn several times. This character really needed a psychological help but he got none. I feel like a lot of people hated him for the way he treated Tharn and loved Tharn because the show keeps putting him as a "cute" character, but to me, he was just another abuser who went through Type's life. And worst of all, the script was romanticizing all of this.

Abuse is not just about the sexual act and Tharn abuses Type in several ways. The first one was in the first episode, with the excuse that he was "paying back" for Type's homophobia. Type’s friend even make a joke about rape. Later, even though Type sets limits on their relationship, Tharn harasses Type in the bathroom, and even though the situation is extremely invasive, the script put as something sexy. You can see that the writer wanted to make this scenes “hot” by the songs they choose to put in the moment. Even when Type tells Tharn that he was abused, in the bar scene, Tharn angrily press Type to the wall and try to kiss him (when he doesn’t want to). What a nice way to treat a boyfriend you know has been sexually abused isn't it?
I won’t even talk about the secondary couple because they’re also extremely problematic.

Many put the fact that the TharnType is "real" and “adult" as something to be acclaimed for and completely ignore this whole disgusting romanticization that happens to the characters' attitudes. I watched this serie until the end and despite bringing good chemistry and acting from the main leads, the series is really problematic and it’s not something to be acclaimed for. The writer didn't even bother to approach the serious themes (as a Type’s abuses) with delicacy. It’s just too toxic, insensitive and problematic.

2019 make me realize that the word '' Don't Judge The Book By It's Cover " finally make sense to me. In the end of 2018, I watched GMM's 3 BL Project trailer ( which are as you already knew) and "He's coming to me" is the only series I intrested .And it didn't let me down. I also find and watched BL series trailer from other Channel and none of them make me find intresting or being attractive. Then ,I was wrong . What I wrong about is I looked down on 2moons 2 and this particularly one " TharnType " . You might hate me when I'm saying this , but I'd like to admit that "Love By Chance " is the "worth-to-watch-once" series. I did enjoy watching it but after the end of the show, there's nothing left in my mind. I didn't find myself being nostalgia although I though I might.( It's kinda my personal feeling that is if I like the series I watched, I'm too cling to it even after the show end and it remained in my mind thinking about how I liked that one at least for month).
No offense on not finding enjoying LBC after the end because it's only on my personal taste.I don't like the story that is being forced to frame and too much fan servicing (eg. too many shirtless scene even though it's not adult scenes, too many scenes that faces of both protagonists are too close enough to kiss but they didn't... meh, I'm not saying this because I want to kiss them but I feel these scenes are not needed and too many drama when it's not necessary..etc and many more) .

Sorry for long intro. This is where my actual review start. Or calling as ' Recommendation article ' may be fit more to my review . LBC has the most of I described ones as above. This TharnType series has them too but storyline, chemistry between two main actors ( overall acting too, I won't judge them in detail because they're not oscar winner. There're some point in acting that I find myself awkward watching), director's direction make me fall onto it. But I have to say that the first 3 or may be 4 episodes make me bored and mehh.. it's too fanciful and unrealistic. I'll say in separated part.

Firstly, for the director, I found that this director is the new one. So, I'll compliment him. Everybody have their requirements. He has requirements too but he could delivered the mains necessity of the series(I hope I'm using right terms). It's the thing I found in this series and "He's coming the series". You'll know what I meant by necessity if your most favorite series are like mine and has a same opinion in LBC ( I'm not shading LBC , I'm only comparing to be conspicuous what I'm saying.I enjoy watching all BL series and of course LBC too). I think I'll follow his projects in future.

Second, the storyline, I'd say good word. I think may be better than LBC? I'll follow the work of this original story's author too.But there's something I'd like to point out as in EP 1 -5. Developing story base and charactor is a bit weak but later storyline make me forget about it. It may be I'm too obesess with BL series . I see some people dropped watching this series because of it. I'd like to push you to watch more episode and you be starting to like. As for the plot and script, I won't or can't judge as it's not my native language. I feel awkward toward some plot too but this may be because of different country and culture. I think I'll pass this part.

Third, music segment, sadly this series OST is being normal. Worth enjoy listening but I think it' s too simple.I enjoy Untill we meet again OST more. Anyway, I like this OST too. I won't judge much too 'cause of different culture again. Judging sound syetem is not my thing. I'm not professional reviewer as I only love to say things about my favourite movies and series.

Last but not least, the actors, I remark as they did their best with their competency. I'm complimenting them because I feel guilty that I severely judged them in first teaser trailer. I did not even look forward to next full trailer. Yes..to that extend. But I tried to watch when the series started to show becase watching BL series is my entertainment (obviously) ...and here they are, they did more than I though. Thumbs up for them. Clap for Mew as I kinda like him only in this Tharn Charactor. Not in What The Duck. No offense and sorry, may be WTD is not my thing. Others actors are normal. Tar's not bad except only when he made that scared little face or whatever. TAM is just..Not Ok.
As concluded , I won't try to say much, only wanna say just try this. Even though it's 18+ series full of rude swear words , there's still something in deeper, meaning and passion. Thumbs up again for the whole crew and heart reaction to the " TharnType The Series " . I planed to write review after the series end. But I wrote it now as I heard next week won't be final EP showing week. I wrote this because I believe and hope the ending won't let me down.

It is a good show. The most notable thing is the chemistry between the main actors, it's through the roof! not to mention the acting is great! The storyline is definitely interesting and tackles a few interesting topics that i haven't seen in other BL like internalized homophobia. the thing is, idk what was up with the writers in the first few episodes with extremely uncomfortable scenes (w/o spoiling but a scene in the first episode specifically) that you kind of have to just get through to get to the good parts of the show. I would definitely say that it gets better after episode 3. you definitely learn to hate and love each character in their own way, i like how they humanize them and some issues mentioned in the show are more serious than some other shows are. I would recommend the show because of the interesting storyline, funny & interesting side storylines (they don't spend too much time on the side storylines which I personally like), but most of all i would watch just to see the chemistry between the main actors.

TOP THE BEST BL DRAMA!!!!

TharnType The Series. I love this series SO FUCKING MUCH! This is the series that i have been waiting for my whole life! I feel like every series that I watched seems like missing something except Theory Of Love. That's another case huhu. I feel like this series is so fucking real. Everything about it felt to fucking real. From the acting, to the kiss and the argument. I could feel the sadness, the anger in the actor's eyes. It felt sincere. Somehow, i do believe any series that related to Love By Chance has this one spark that i couldn't even explain.

Moving on! I am going to talk about P'Type. I really hate bottom like P'Type. He is so stubborn, hot-headed, rude and his words are always vulgar. He thinks that he can do whatever that he wants and no one can change his point of view. He also likes to say things without even consider other people's feelings. I understand that he has a trauma where to the point he hates gays but he need to know that the person that assault him is not mainly GAY. I think the person is actually a PEDOPHILE. I also feel like he is very rude to Tharn eventhough Tharn didn't do anything to him except care for him and even after he open up to Tharn, he still hurt his feelings and steps on Tharn's feelings like trash. UGH I HATE HIM! Type is the type of person that would use his first to talk instead of sort things out, when Type finally dates Tharn, he somehow soften up but i still feel he is somehow rude and there is no two way effort, only Tharn is the one that care for him and all he does is get angry. Anyway, I REALLY LOVE THE WAY GULF POTRAYS TYPE. It's so accurate.

Tharn. Ah. My Tharn. I love Tharn. He is such a sweet boy. He is an opposite of Type. You know what they says, Opposite attracts each other. Tharn on the other hand is soft-spoken person, very careful of his words and a straight-forward person. He always try to sort things out with Type whenever something happened or they had an argument. For me, Tharn is a very mature person but he somehow hides a lot of things from Type. Type is a mean person but if Tharn would tell him about himself, I do believe that he will listen to it. Tharn is so secretive and he has too much empathy so people would use him easily. He is a big puppy when it comes to Type and he couldn't get mad at him too long LOL. Btw, i've always know Lluong likes Tharn because I can feel it. The first time he holds Tharn's hand, i thought they were sex friends and when he looks shocked at the confession that Tharn Type dating, I already know something is going on. AHAHAHAHHA

Anyway, Hands down to the top best BL ever! I love this series and I can't wait for LBC S2 because TinCan UGHHH!!! <3.

DISGUSTING depiction of S/A as romance

Disgusting show romanticizing sexual assault. Not only is the toxic relationship between the leads based on non consensual advances but also petty drama. A homophobe falls in “love” with a gay man but continues to choose to hurt him with demeaning behaviors is considered sexy? Tharn’s “friendship” with the older male who admitted to sexually assaulting him at age 14 is disgusting. The issue was addressed briefly and casually in the show. I stopped at episode 8. Can’t watch anymore. Not worth the time.

I watched this aware of all the problems that involved the story, sexual abuse, homophobia, and everything. And I actually know that It will be bad, but I watched bcs I was really curious: Why do people like this? Is it bcs of the NC scenes? Maybe their dynamics...? Just... Why?

And I didn't have an answer, bcs it's just plain BAD and problematic. First, Type is an asshole. It amazes me how he didn't show any progress during the series, he starts like a total bitch and it's a bitch until the end. Tharn is an abuser., nothing more to say.

Why do people like this so much? It doesn't make sense. It's boring, they never settle in their relationship bcs they are both stupid. Even the NC scenes are bad, Mew (Tharn) and Gulf (Type) don't have the chemistry that fans like to say that they have, pleasure it's the last thing that I think about while watching them.

It's fucking bad and I didn't even have the GUTS to watch until the end bcs I was so fucking bored and tired of such a bad series and a bad couple and bad everything.

It's and LGBT+ series made to straight people, that's it.
