My friend forced me to watch this... Hanna, but thank you so much because it was truly amazing. Also because it is our last year together I commemorate this review to you. We had a sleepover and we watched the whole series.

To anyone who is reading this, the actors are amazing and it's juice, just saying. The story is so interesting and emotionally attaching. The best part is how good the actors took their roles so seriously. I seriously had trouble understanding what was going on but that was of course not a problem when I had my dear friend next to me, who could explain everything and rewatch the whole series with me. Hope you also will enjoy it as much as I did, but also giggle your heart fluttering and cry your heart out. :D

This is by far the best BL drama I've ever seen and has a place in my heart as one of my most favorite drama's I've ever seen. I feel in love with everything about this show. I adore the story and the grow each of the characters go through. Type has he's big arch however, I like that Tharn has his own flaws and thing he has to work through. This had become one of my favorite couples in any drama I have ever watched, I feel completely in love with them. All the side characters are mainly there to serve to the main couples narrative and I think that choice worked for this series to many subplots would have taken to much of the already limited time away from the main couple and I feel that in this series I would have been to the shows detriment. Lastly not to spoil anything the villain was so well handled and that story line had me at the edge of my seat. The casting was phenomenal. You can feel the chemistry between Mew and Gulf and I would love for them to do more together. The acting in the last two episodes of this show from them had me literally crying. All the characters that were recast from LBC were phenomenal and brought something different to the roles while still feeling like the same characters from LBC.
However, It must be said that this show tackles some very serious topics and while I think it was well done I can see how some could be triggered by it and have different opinions and that is completely understandable.
Overall this is now one of if not my favorite BL of all time. Would I rewatch it Absolutely!!! I'm already planning to multiple times. I cannot recommend this show enough.

I think that my main problem with this drama was the abusive relationship depicted in the drama. Many of the scenes seemed very illegal and bordered sexual harassment. However, the drama made no effort to point out that the scenes were wrong and extremely hurtful. Instead, they continued on showcasing similar scenes and labeling them as romantic. There seemed to be almost no character development as Tharn would continue harassing and taking advantage of Type, and Type continued being short tempered and physically aggressive.

My second major problem with this drama is the main antagonist of the story, Lhong. Throughout the drama, he showcased no signs of ever having ill intentions towards the protagonist of the story. When the truth comes out in the last couple episodes, it comes as a surprise, but not a very good one. Furthermore, when the conflict comes to a conclusion, his punishment is laughable. All of the characters seemed to completely forget the fact that he hired people to rape someone. You would think that he would at least be sent to jail for the severity of his crimes, however, it is written off with the excuse that he wasn't loved enough. I disliked the fact that they tried to get the viewers to pity Lhong. They failed to show that there is no excuse for rape.

This show is sending some seriously unhealthy messages

I'm fairly new to BL but was hooked from the beginning by Wish You, SOTUS and 2gether (#teamtine #brightwin4ever). TharnType came up on a lot of recommended lists, so I was a little shocked and pretty concerned when I started watching.

The main characters relationship is seriously unhealthy. And I don't mean in the cute, coming to terms with my feelings normal drama. I mean when you force yourself on someone or physical abuse them in fits of anger and jealousy without it ever getting called out, that's a huge problem for me.

Violent, jealous, controlling people are not good partners. They are people who need some help because that's called abuse not love.

I am very disappointed if this is what passes unquestioned in the BL fan community. There are a lot of good romantic, funny series that are waiting to sweep us off our feet without having to glorify or normalize spousal abuse.

Dont think I want to rewatch it

The trailer was on Netflix and then I thought why not watch this BL drama which was made more than a year ago. I had no expectations, and since it had only 12 episodes, I thought: okay, I may be able to finish it in a day or two. I enjoyed the first few episodes: a homophobic guy living on-campus with a gay roommate. Then I could just guess that they will eventually become a couple, but will have to go through a stormy relationship (just like Sotus, My Bromance and 2gether; all three were my favorites).

But as we get to the later episodes, I find the drama lacking substance, a bit dragging and boring. Oh, they could have just made this into 8 episodes, I think. Other reviews here have already mentioned why the storyline is problematic: the sex scenes which were not completely consensual and Type's childhood trauma which suddenly magically disappeared after episode 3.

I don't mind about the ups and downs of their somewhat toxic relationship (toxic from both sides) and the jealousy and possessiveness of both Tharn and Type, which puts more "drama" into this drama. But how come the development of each character were not given enough justice. It would be great we could see Tharn as a musician, instead of a "nice patient boyfriend" who actually can only think of sex. But we only saw him play the drum twice during rehearsals and one show in the bar.

What I found annoying was Tar and Tum at beginning episodes. Who the hell are these guys? There was no hint at all of who they were . Why do we have to watch this older guy picking up a high school student at school? Also the lunch scenes at home. I had no idea what their relationship was. Were they brothers? Lovers? Whose house was this? No parents at home? One scene showed Tum receiving a phone call from Mom, and that was it. Then Tharn bumps into Tar in episode 9 or 10, Then it was like: "Oh okay, now I see who the boy is".

The drama had so many un-mended holes in the story. Some scenes could just be taken out. Dinner with Tharn's family was not only awkward but also artificial. When Type met his childhood friend back home, the friend came out to him being gay. Then what? Oh I see, this was just a pasted scene. Nothing significant. The fighting scene on the last episode was the worst. Assuming this was on-campus (all five boys were still wearing uniforms), weren't there any security officers around?

Anyway, I think the actors were great. They played their roles well. I would love to see each of them in other dramas. About this one? I don't regret watching it, but I don't think I would like to spend time re-watching it either. I'd rather watch My Bromance The Series, SOTUS, and 2-Gether over and over again :-)

I didn't know that this was taking place before Love By Chance, so I didn't have any prior expectations, bias, or anything before starting this series.

I believe that this title is probably the best BL title in a while. Of course, it's a personal preference, but let me tell you why I think you should watch this and won't be disappointed, especially if you are familiar with other BL stories.
The story plot is often seen in BL's - we have the usual confident gay, and then we have the insecure gay that hates gays and such, but then, in the end, he turns out to be gay too. Nevertheless, I believe that this series was successful in making everything more exciting. You'll see the up and downs of a relationship, supporting friends, evil friends, multiple plot twists that will leave you "oh my god? Seriously??" (in a good way but I won't spoil anything) and everything you can experience in real life.

The relationship between Tharn and Type is a bit toxic not to say a lot, but don't worry - it develops in a good way. Plot and character development it's a good thing.

Now the acting, damn amazing. I enjoyed all of the actors. If you need new actors to add on your favs list, then give these gems a chance. That's the only thing I can tell you. I don't think I ever got bored in the whole 12 episodes and actually surprised that I laughed at the comedy that they threw in because usually jokes in Thai dramas are just cringe or not funny. It's a bit sad that they didn't address some character's story in the end because of too little time (not really but let me be nice since they made a good series haha), but it's still a series that's going to keep you hooked from episode 1.

If you are the type of person that is like "omg! BL's is always about rape. It shouldn't be a thing. It's uncomfortable blah blah" then yea don't watch this series. I'm aware that the story or excuse of rape is used in a lot of BL's novels and absolutely not acceptable, but I don't think in this case it ruined the series. I think that they did a good job addressing and showing the consequences and impacts that rape has on people and why it's wrong. Then again this is my personal opinion, so yea... You have been warned.

Anyways, all in all, you won't regret watching this drama. You get a good and interesting plot that kind of breaks away from the clichés (leaving behind the rape part). You get good acting, lots of kissing and bed scenes for the people interested haha. You won't be bored in these 12 episodes.

ps. if you are still unsure about starting this or not, then take my advice and just watch it. once you start watching it, you'll see that you won't regret it

I really wanted to like this show. It has a few things going for it that we need more of in queer media, namely: a gay character who is open and confident in his sexuality but not relegated to a side role or comic relief, genuine chemistry between the leads, and the kind of physical closeness that's standard in depictions of straight romances. Much of the cast is also capable of delivering solid performances during key moments, and the editing is pretty solid as well.

However, TharnType manages to drop the ball in almost every other conceivable way.

The director seems only capable of delivering sensuality effectively—and even that is unfortunate when the sensuality is during a scene where consent is dubious or completely absent; dialogue which was awkward to begin with is also delivered in a way that's stilted and unnatural.

The writing consistently left me either cringing or dumbfounded. I often found myself asking "Who talks like this?" or "Why the hell doesn't he _____?" Characters frequently say or do things solely to serve the plot and not for any recognizable motivation, and even the main plot arc feels completely unnecessary in the end. Some character threads are started and then just left by the wayside until the post-series special, with zero attempt at closure within the series itself.

In the end, it all comes down to the portrayal of the central relationship for me. We're supposed to be rooting for them to be together, but that's difficult to do when much of their interaction is built on physical aggression, a lack of respect for consent, and jealousy and mistrust. This show deals with heavy topics like childhood sexual abuse, prejudice, and rape, but it does so without any of the subtlety and finesse those issues require, and problems like physically striking one's partner (in the face and and in the crotch) are just handwaved away without ever being dealt with.

I have zero issue with the portrayal of unhealthy romances in media (I'm a big fan of NBC's Hannibal, for instance), as long as they're portrayed skillfully. This show broke me. Finishing the last episode was like pulling teeth.

If you're looking for a show to watch without engaging any critical thinking, maybe this one could be enjoyable. If you're like me and can't turn the critical thinking off, you'd be doing yourself a favor by finding something better to watch.

Honest Review
Story - 9/10
Mame build her reputation through out the years she's undeniably great at making this kind of stuff, but of course there will be sex scenes which is not bad. The series did not focused on the issue of rape they just regret it and make the story more intimate as always. They don't tell what happen to the characters that suffer the mental capabilities hope this will be clear on s2. ADDICTION TO SEX?? this is one of the flaw of this series. I like that the antagonist is a male for long time till now always female are use to make a great villain. The plot was totally good aside from disregarding the fact of rape. The hidden agenda of one of the characters he it me like a truck it's unrecognizable at first but if when i looked on the poster. OH MY GOD this bitch creep me out.

Acting/Cast - A solid 10/10
The chemistry that they have given is one of the best in this genre. Gulf is not new in this industry he knows what he will do. Even though he has a girlfriend it's not the case he performs his character with greatness. Let's go back to the series he perform really well. Mew he performs really well the care he gives to tine make him more attractive for the audience. When I see Mew on the series I think this is a gamble because Mew came from a really bad series but it paid off later soon.

Music- 10/10
DAMN. They created really good music when i hear "Be Mine" and "Hold Me Tight" it brings some tears on my eyes they really nailed it. It reminds me the pain, the thrill and the emotions that this series gave t me when it's airing. The chills are still there.

Rewatch Value - 9/10
This section is where this series lack the potential. The series has a great plot and you can only watch it once. You will know who is that and why is that like that and it feels like the thrill factor is no where to be found.

consent, consent, consent...

This story brings real problematics about traumatisms, wich is an unusual theme so I liked it and I loved the plot twist. Actors are good and that's why the feelings are transmitted to us easily, whether it's sadness or love. Sex scenes are probably ones of the sexiest of all bl series and it's mostly because of the wonderful chemistry between MewGulf
The extreme negative points that comes to darkens this beautiful story is the fact that TharnType are really too jealous from one another and it's toxic. Also, the fact that Tharn actually force his desire on Type at the beginning made me extremely uncomfortable.
PS: People really need to STOP saying they understand the antagonist, you clearly wouldn't say that if he wasn't handsome so stop being hypocrite. He is a douchebag!

A thing y'all can relate to while watching this series is a soccer ball.

TW: rape

FIRST THINGS FIRTS I HATE HOW THEY MAKE IT SEEM LIKE MOLESTATION IS NORMAL AND ACCEPTEBLE AND THIS BUGGED ME A LOT WHILE WATCHING THIS AND THAT THEY ROMANTICIZING RAPE.

SEXUAL ASSUALT:
I'm not even gonna make it nicer than that it is. Type had a trauma because he was raped and Tharn dares to kiss him without consent even though Tharn didn't know it at that time he had no right to kiss him without consent. Than had also no valid reason to give Type hickeys to scare or "prank" him it's sexual assault. Tharn could of course help Type when he was sick but he shouldn't cross boundaries. I can get why typed slapped Tharn in the face when Tharn tried to console Type when he was sick, Tharn crossed boundaries before and Type didn't like that and his way is using violent I'm not saying slapping someone is a good solution but I get Type.

TYPE'S TRAUMA:
I was surprised it had a emotional and sensitive subject as rape in it and I hoped they would use it good IT WAS A BIG DISAPOINTMENT he got one blowjob from Tharn and suddenly he doesn't have a trauma anymore I wish it was that easy (pls teach me Type) AND HE ASKED TO HAVE SEXS TO GET OVER WITH IT!!!! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

TYPE'S TOXIC BEHAVIOR:
I also hated how people made his actions all seem good just because he had "anger issues" people aren't that acceptable in real life and I speak from experience. Some of those actions would any person do in that position but most of them not. The main reason why I'm annoyed at Types behavior is that he never apologized.

NO ACTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:
They are both selfish people when they started in the serie and when the series ended. It looks like the only care about sex and that's it even though the actors have amazing chemistry together. They should have put more romantical stuf in the series the actors would have portraid that amazing. The writer of TharnType made it look like gays only care about sex while that's not the case most of the time. Just like how they pull the "I only like this man" Type doesn't need to label himself gay there isn't only "gay, bisexual and straight" there are so many more sexualities or he could just choose not to label himself. Tharn also just let Type hit, kick, punch and push him he needs to learn to stand up for himself but nothing of that happend in the whole series he just kept putting up with it. How cheesy Tharn was I wanted to puke so many times and how we was being so horny all the time being a bit horny is fine but the only thing that went on in his head was sex.

LHONG'S DISCUSTING BEHAVIOR:
HOW TF DID HE NOT END UP IN JAIL FOR WHAT HE DID?!?!?!?!
He almost murdered Type for what because he could get his friend the way he wanted. He also payed people to rape a young boy?!?!?! The series also tried to make us feel sorry for him. The actor who played Lhong is an amazing actor but the character he plays is just horrible.

REASON WHY I WATCHED WHILE I HATED IT:
The reason that I watched this is because it was populair and because of the actors. Mew do be playing in problematic series first in What The Duck and What the Duck 2: Final Call that was one big dissater and now TharnType I feel bad for Mew he has so much potential as actor just as Gulf they are both to good actors to act in such series

Definitely worthwile and deserving of season 2!

The character development is so damn good! The acting is incredible too, seeing Gulf play Type and then watching his insta lives shows how well he really portrays Type! Mew is such an amazing actor aswell and lets not forget about Llong's actor (forgot his name?) the tears just flow right out of his eyes like it was nothing! They all are so damn good and made my gay heart yeet itself out the window. The story is really interesting too, Type's history made me cry and how Type reacts when he thinks about it is so damn heartbreaking. Anyways I think you should 100% watch this drama if you don't mind seeing a lot intimate scenes and some potentially triggering scenes. It is totally worth it but don't say I didn't warn you. Have fun ʕᵔᴥᵔʔ
