Funny story, amazing chemistry

Just finished Jueshi Qianjin, and I rewatched it already. The leading couple is that good. This series is amazing just to look at, even without the subs. It seems to be based on a game, so perhaps that’s why the story is so-so, but it didn’t bother me in the least.

Love is a Game
It’s relaxing to watch that on-going, tiresome search for a partner in life turned into a Love Game. Imagine a modern day girl getting the chance to choose from all kinds of yummy men. Although I can’t understand why it always has to be the bullying boy, apart from the fact that the love-hate theme is still going strong in romcom series, I can easily get why people are falling for the male lead.

Actors
Whether Simon Gong plays the BL interest in Advance Bravely or Prince Charming for this time traveling girl, he’s the same heartthrob…easy on the eye…not bothered by method acting whatsoever. I’m curious if he becomes a natural after he transfers to grown-up characters.
I don’t know much about Greenly Zheng. She has a lovely voice, unlike the shrill actresses I have to endure sometimes . I was pleasantly surprised by Yú Tiān Yì playing the rich boy Jiang Xuan Yu, I hope to see more of him in future series. The supporting cast did a good job as well.

The Story
I’ve watched Jueshi Qianjin until episode 24, which is, hopefully, an open ending. So I’m eagerly waiting for a sequel, let’s say in modern times.

(Rap) Music and Dancing
The look and feel of this series wasn’t that bad either. The soundtrack has some catchy tunes, but I’ve never watched such bad acts from an actress in dancing and rap music like in this series, making her indeed A Unique Lady.

Verdict
What can I say? I just love razzie award winning productions. Give this series a try, you won’t regret it.

This show is amazing due to the acting of the main's, but it really needs another season due to unanswered questions and her not returning home yet. One of the best parts is the fact that the lead actress doesn't act weird through the drama but actually grows and learns. I say it like that because I watched Cinderella Chef and the lead actress whole personally was a hot mess... Luckily this one doesn't disappoint being hot lead men, or even the lead actress personality which I thought at first was a little dramatic when she first met hot guys but she grew in the story so much.. I really liked the chemistry that the leads had but also all the other characters. Like I said before it's not finished by far and the ending is HAPPY so far lol. If anything watch it for her funny moments which were mostly at the beginning of the show.

Frist half good, second half not so good

I highly recommend this drama and I have never said that before, but first I have to say that I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone comment on the parallels of the plot to The Eternal Love ( starring Zhao Li and Jie Liang). Unfortunately Unique Lady is not exactly a unique story, but it's still worth watching. I haven't felt this interested in a drama since My Fair Princess 1998. The chemistry and puppy love between the ML and FL is a throwback to the relationship between Xiaoyanzi and Yong Qi, but not before they get a lot of misunderstandings out of the way, mostly from the FL's side. The ML is consistent in his feelings for her.

Even though it is similar to The Eternal Love, I think it is better in many ways. First, there are way more cute scenes between the FL and the ML. And I hate to say it but their chemistry and acting is also more believable. That's just my opinion. The jokes are better too, but that's a nod to the writers.

I also like that Unique Lady shows the development of the FL and ML relationship before the marriage, unlike The Eternal Love where Mo Lian Cheng doesnt seem to care that he's married to Tan Er until after he falls in love with her, which isnt apparent until several episodes later and after he constantly mistreats and threatens her, because he thinks she's a spy. In Unique Lady the ML is clearly in love with the FL before they get married, but he's afraid to show his feelings because she is always calling him mean names lol. Still, knowing she hates him, he does everything to make sure the marriage happens, including intimidating her father.

Also the development of the story is very quick paced. After marriage, the misunderstanding is not dragged out like in other dramas. They quickly overcome it and then there's cuteness overload in every episode thereafter. So cute!

I'm not finished the series yet, so I dont know how it ends, but I'm sure it will be a happy one, since this is a light hearted drama like The Eternal Love and the main characters are very innocent and kind hearted and completely devoted to one another. I can't wait to finish it. :)

Edit: I finished watching the second half of the drama and was deeply disappointed. The plot took a turn for the worst and the worst is that they used too many. First the ML and FL couldn't be together because of a misunderstanding involving a 3rd party, which I didn't mind, because it's a mild obstacle used in many dramas that usually brings the leads closer together. Not so much, in this case. The writers gave audiences one kissing scene when the ML and FL reunited, which could have ended the drama in a satisfying way (love conquers all, even stupid politics and attempted assassinatoons), but then the show would have had too few episodes, so instead of admitting they screwed up and built a plot that isn't intricate enough to last 12 episodes (according to dramacool, which is where I watched it, it is 24 episodes), they decided to start two different plots to separate the ML and FL again, just to fill episodes. I really can't stand dramas that think viewers enjoy watching dramas where the leads are apart for half the series. Especially when it's so predictable that the ending will be happy and eventualy all misunderstandings (love triangles, political struggles, choosing duty or love, and nearly dying) will be ckeared up. And this drama really surpassed its limit on using misunderstandings as an interesting and creative plot. What is the point?

I changed the score from 9 to 7.5

In summary, the first half of the series is similar to The Eternal love, the second half is similar to a horrible mess.

Too bad, I had such high hopes after the first half. Not at all looking forward to the sequel.

A must watch triogoly

just finshed binged watching part 1(12ep),1a(12ep)2 (27ep). What a rollercoaster full of excitement. When I first watched ep. 1/2 I was annoyed with the FL and how they portrayed her part, but I looked at the rating of 9.1. So I continued to watch and glad I did. It's starts she bored and decided to play this new VR game in which she was pulled into her computer and be omes the main FL. In order to get out she must find true her love within the 4 scholor that vie for her love and also can only die 5x She's smart, funny, cute and always there to help, but she finds so much evil, betrayal and misunderstanding around her. She has a good heart tries to see the best in everyone but their are so many that she thought were family and friends, but try to hurt and kill her. Besides finding true love and avoiding death she also needs to complete other mission in the game to get rewards. They can be items needed to move on, sometimes it gives her clues to finish mission and also options to choose good n bad. If she dies she gets to either go back and fix it or she can choose a different path. If she gets stuck she can yell for help, but it doesn't mean she'll get it.
The actors/actress all did an exceptional job that pulled you into there rolls. The ost were also persice to the scene. Sometimes the story got sidelines in certain events and you needed the flash backs to understand what happened. This is so worth the watch and it goes by really fast. Enjoy

I thought that this was a fun and pretty interesting drama with a decent story line and acting.
I really like plots like this where the main character is in a video game, but some things logically don't make sense which I think messes up the flow of the story and causes their to be some plot holes.
The acting I think is just okay, the female lead and male lead are actually pretty good, but some of the other men that were pursuing the female lead had weaker acting (also a lot of the characters are not really well developed). The female lead is kind of annoying and childish in the beginning, but she matures through the episodes and becomes much more insightful.
The visuals are nice, I liked the design and sets of the show, and the music matched pretty well too.
Overall I think it's enjoyable, it's not super dramatic or heavy, and the story line is pretty easy to follow and comprehend.

This review is about the first half (aka s1) and the second half (aka s2) of this show.

(I came to watch this because of Simon Gong (after seeing him in Lost Love in Times) and I really enjoyed his performance as Zhong Wumei--a tsundere with a bad temper. In Lost Love in Times, he was a lot more cheerful and lighthearted, so seeing him as this stern face guy was interesting.)

This show is mainly carried by the good acting and chemistry between the actors. The plot is also not bad and is well-paced, but there is definitely a tone shift between the first half and the second half. The first half was lighthearted and comedic like the romcom that it is. The second half takes it deeper by bringing in the heartaches, tears, and angst. Personally, I thought that was a good move on the plot. In the first half, there weren't really any risks yet. It was still just Lin Luojing thinking about the game as a game and accomplishing tasks. In the second half, however, we move away from that as Lin Luojing becomes more entangled with the characters and plot and as she falls in love. As much as I enjoyed the first half, the second half is what makes this show memorable and move away from a "otome game" plot. The story then becomes more immersed in what Lin Luojing gains/loses if she ends the game.

Lin Luojing's personality, at first, is a bit annoying as she drools over hot guys and mutters to herself a lot about game-related stuff. However, that aspect doesn't show up as much near the end of season 1 (around episodes 7-9, I'd say). Her character becomes more serious and makes her more likable. I loved her by the second half and enjoyed her very much.
Zhong Wumei's bad temper was almost a bit too much and it creates misunderstandings, but it's resolved in a timely manner. He becomes a complex character that makes him very endearing.
Liu Xiuwen became a more complex character, which was great, although towards the end, he seemed a bit repetitive. However, he was still likable.
Jiang Xuanyu and Swordsman Hua probably received the shorter ends as their characters are not as fleshed out evenly throughout the series, but they are given decent screentime and backstories that make them likeable.

This drama is for those who enjoyed the dramas like "The Sweet Girl", "To Get Her", and those kind of type of shows where the plot may not be the greatest of all time, but it's good enough to support the romance and obstacles the characters face. The show has good heartfelt moments and good chemistry between the characters. In the end, the show is enjoyable enough.

Starting of a drama is good having some funny moments in few episodes but few things uncovered with ending of drama ,it is look like that director is in hurry to finish the drama and more focus on to show happy ending by completing the love story...but still some question unanswered that what is the truth of his mother death and when she gets her true love than why she is not come out of the game . Sweet love story ,no problem with the acting part ..direction of story at some part not satisfied.

UMMMM....OKAY

Overview:
I hesitated to watch this drama for a whole month after seen parts of season two. However, now that I'm done with season one, I'm obligated to watch the second season. But in the meanwhile, here are my (mixed) thoughts about the first season!
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING REVIEW MAY HAVE LITTLE SPOILERS ABOUT SPECIFIC SCENES. I DON'T GIVE THE FULL CONTEXT OF THE SCENE BUT JUST ENOUGH FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYING. READ UPON THIS ADVISING!!!!

Story (6/10):
At first, I was really confused why dramalist had the first season split up into two parts but in total there are 24 episodes.
First of all, the storyline of the female lead entering a gaming/historical realm has been pretty common in the C-drama field. For example, the drama "To Get Her". Other similar dramas where the female lead enters a historical period are "Eternal Love" (all 3 seasons) and "The Romance of Tiger and Rose". For this particular story, the female leads sign-ups for an online game where she is able to experience "love". Since the female lead is a "nerd" and doesn't want to find love in the real world, she decides to go on this adventure to find love in an online world. To her surprise, she had more options than she could imagine. A mystery heroic swordsman, a hot-bod imperial guard, a sweet rich young master, and a hot temper royal prince. Who shall she choose?
Personally, this story set-up was promising but cringy. I didn't know what to expect. There were times I was just so done with the plot that I had to take a break from the drama and recover from my traumatic experience watching the drama. Usually, whenever I'm dedicated to a drama, I finish it within at least 3-4 days. However, this drama took me over a week to actually finish. I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy parts of the drama, but the storyline was definitely not my favorite part of the drama. It could've done better with the creative side of the plot but it fell flat mid-way through the drama. The only thing that is keeping me from rating the storyline from lower than a six are all the male lead characters' involvement in the plot. Not only did they save the girl from dying multiple times, but they also saved the storyline from going downhill.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Acting/Cast (7/10):
First of all, the cast for the female lead Luo Jing. She's gorgeous and has a bright smile, but her character just made me want to pull out my hair for 90% of the show. I feel like, with Asian dramas in general, the trend is to always have a female lead that is quirky and "different" from every other girl out there in the world. The same can be applied to Luo Jing, but a bit worse since her character was not well developed. Since she came from the modern-day, she is naturally going to act a bit differently due to cultural differences. For example, when she had to dance for the king, she wore a very short black dress. In my head, I went, "OMG...she did not just do that." I just had to skip over that entire scene due since it was too overbearing to watch (Don't worry, this is episode three so not too big of a spoiler). She spoke a lot of English and was veryyyyyy outspoken for a girl in ancient times. However, over time, I did see that she adjusted more to the historical-cultural aspect of the game and it was less hard to watch. For Jade who played as Luo Jing, her acting was subpar. Since this is one of her first dramas, she has a long way to go to hone her acting skills. Overall, I can't really blame Jade for her acting when she's given a very under-developed character to start out with.

Next up in line, we have the male lead, Wu Mei. I have very mixed feelings about this boy. Just to give you a short description of him, he's hot-tempered, overly emotional, argumentative, hard to get along with, and a bit of a jerk. But IT'S OKAY because he's rich and hot (insert eye-roll). It was just soooooo hard for me to like him in the beginning because he just rubbed off of me wrong. If he wasn't rich and hot (and a prince), he would just be known as the jerk in any typical Asian drama. Like okay, he's got mommy issues and brother issues and that is the reason why his character is like that. Okay, cool. He seems like someone I wouldn't try to typically associate myself with. However, throughout the drama, seeing him soft at times really got me (that's how you know I'm easy). But when I started to notice he was caring and selfless when it came to the female lead, I started to warm up to his character a bit. I started to root for him more often up until the last few episodes when I was kind of done with his character too. For Simon who plays as Wu Mei, he's a good-looking guy. His acting was a bit better than Jade but it still lacked in some scenes. But overall, I personally like Simon as an actor.

Next, we have the three second-main lead. Yes, three of them. Xiu Wen as the imperial bodyguard, Xuan Yu as the mysterious swordsman, and Jin Chen as the rich master. In total, I personally felt like these guys had a better character setup than the two main leads. Xiu Wen had to constantly battle whether he stays loyal to his feelings for Luo Jiang or loyal to his country that desperately needs him. Xuan Yu was a mystery until the end where you were finally able to understand his regrets and undying love for Luo Jiang. Jin Chen was selfless and always there to support Luo Jiang during her weakest time. Like girl, why settle for Wu Mei when you can settle for these three better options? But then again, dramas don't do that. Dramas like tsundere characters. For example, in "To All The Boys (P.S. I Still Love You)", Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky were totally made for each other but we all know deep in our hearts that John Ambrose was obviously the better choice. Same thing here. But it's okay, these three guys deserve more than just a sad unrequited love. All of the actors who played them were pretty good. After watching season two, I'm definitely going to go check on their other works. These three guys are the reason I rated this section a 7. Without them, I'll probably give this section somewhere between a 5 and 6.

Finally, we have the side characters such as Luo Jiang's maid Xi Que, the Flower Queen Ying Yun, Wu Mei's guard, the Wet Nurse, the Prime Minister, the king and his wife, and so on. They all definitely did a good job with their roles. My favorite characters would have to be Luo Jiang's maid Xi Que. She is like Luo Jiang's ride or die. It's sad that in most Chinese dramas, we have these selfless maids that have undying love and loyalty towards their master but then that's it for them. We don't get to see the other sides of them. But that's the main purpose of having them in the script, they are there to just support the lead characters and help clear up misunderstanding for them. Then whoosh, they disappear until they are needed again. I wouldn't mind seeing a love story for her maid (possibly with Wu Mei's guard) since she had such a lovely character. The evil characters were so manipulative and gave me chills at the end. I'm so looking forward to seeing the chaos they pursue in the next season.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Music (8.5/10):
The OST and background music was something I appreciated. Like any other historical dramas, the sad songs during those sad scenes always hit hard. This one didn't hit as hard but the songs were beautiful. I'll probably add them to my study and sleep playlist.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Rewatch Value (5/10):
Will I rewatch this drama again? I don't know, maybe sometimes done the road when I'm feeling bored. This drama was okay. It's not up high on my rewatch list but if I ever just think of this drama sometimes in the future, I think I'll probably skip to the last 10 episodes to do so. Otherwise, I think I'll stick to rewatching "Ten Miles of Peach Blossom" and "True Beauty".
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Overall (6.5/10):
I think this is the lowest I ever rated a drama since I only usually write reviews for dramas I personally enjoy a lot, but this drama is an exception. I'm usually pretty generous with rating a drama by overlooking the plot holes and under-developed characters. However, this drama was so mentally draining due to second-hand embarrassment that I just couldn't rate it any higher. To end off on a good note, I'll list some of the things I actually liked about the story in general. The chemistry was there, but I was just confused how a few near-face touching, close-up looks made them fall in love. Maybe my brain just skipped those parts but after you overlook how they fell in love, you start to appreciate their chemistry a little bit. The cast was actually pretty good. They weren't all overly good-looking (minus the main leads) or too awkward with their acting. It was comfortable to watch them and be enjoy looking at them (especially the side male leads).
Well, now it's time to move onto season two. See you guys in the next review!

Was written by a teenager for teen audience?

If it wasn't for my curiosity, I would have dropped this drama in the 1st 10 episodes. The central plot of this drama goes like this, The Lead couple get together for 2 minutes, promise to be together forever, and then separate 2 minutes later. Every episodes is just a weird version of this. They are constantly stuck in this loop. As if that wasn't enough in season 1, they decided to do the same in season 2 as well.

There were only two things i liked about this drama, first were the characters, however none of them got a good story arc. Second, the ending. While it isn't usually an ending i prefer, the entire drama was so childish that I thought the ending was wonderful.

Romantic and hilarious drama

During the time waiting for the new episodes of drama Word of Honor to be aired, I watched this drama to know more about Gong Jun who is also one of the leads in Word of Honor. The first thing that impresses me about this drama is that it made me laugh a lot. The female lead is really a talent. The role of Gong Jun in this drama is not complicated so his talent is not fully expressed. I prefer his role as Wen Kexing in Word of Honor. The story is rather simple but it shows the real meaning of true love which is the sacrifice for each other. The end of the story in the game is touching. In general, this drama is hilarious, romantic and can be watched to relax during free time.

A very, very light-hearted show

Just finished part I and I gotta say you have to take the show very, very lightly. FL is in a game world and if I'm playing a dating/ simulation game I would just go and explore every option, too. The dialogue and plot can be weird at times and I'll just chalk it up to "weird game design" but that sort of excuse gets old after a while. I would probably continue watching since I like the characters but the amount of cheesey and cringey contents in this show is a bit too much for me to handle sometimes ngl
