A love story to all BL’s

This show was a huge surprise to me, the premise seems silly at first but once you start watching if you love BL series you will see that this is an homage or love letter to the BL community.

It has so many nods to classic series like Sotus and even cameos from Tharntype.

The 2 main lead couples are fantastic and the actors are brilliant in the roles showing great acting and commitment to the scenes that sometimes are truly deep.

First couple Tutor and Fighter is a BL dream come true, first of all they really went all in to portray these characters giving them so many layers, passion and chemistry. Saint proves once again that he is one of the top actors in BL.

Second couple Saifah and Zon are beyond adorable and these two actors Tommy and Jimmy aka Mii2 have a great future in BL with already several projects in the works.

Overall the show is filled with beautiful moments and great iconic romantic settings.

The only thing is that you can see that many of the secondary characters had to be left behind due to the pandemic, but the show manage to give us amazing stand alone episodes of the main couples.

If you love BL series you would find this a truly amazing joy ride. Is not super serious and has a lot of funny moments.

Highly recommended.

I enjoyed every bit of this drama ... One of the best BLs ever made <3

What led me to watch this drama is a clip I came across on YouTube. I didn't think there were Asian BL series with actors openly kissing and bed scenes.

I enjoyed every bit of this show. I would have loved to watch love stories of the other couples, but I'm quite content with the two. It's true the storyline was all over the place but these two couples made it worth it. It's a good thing it's only 13 episodes.

The best thing is it's fast moving, it doesn't drag at all, and makes you look forward to the next episode.

Fighter and Tutor make the best couple. You would see the chemistry between them just from the way they would stare at each other. Oh and I loved the kiss and bed scene but most of all, I loved the kiss between Saifah and Zon in the last episode. It was worth the wait *wink wink*

I would watch it again and again, tbh. There are some scenes I would skip but compared to all the series I have watched, I would watch almost all the episodes.

Enemies to lovers, and much more.

OK first of all, let me tell you that this show got some delays in production because of COVID-19 and it kind of derail a little bit the story at the end but, overall it got the job done, so if you are interested in watching this show... watch it it’s really worth it and it’s satisfying to watch until the very end. And I think it’s much needed after this whole Covid thing that we’ve been going through. Now to the review:

The story it’s great, but it suffers due to bad execution. I don’t think the problems with the show where actually with the story itself, the problems I found where problems with production because I think they had a really good story laid out but because of the problems I mentioned before due to Covid, I think they weren’t able to trace the story as neatly as they could have. I could see that there were some parts that were cut and some parts were pieced together in like the last four or five episodes, I think in the middle there were some *moments* were left in the cutting board and I think that really hurt the story of secondary characters but, from beginning to end the story actually develops itself, sometimes rather quickly sometimes with a slow pace but, I always wanted to watch what was gonna happen next. And so will you.

OK this is a good one, the actors they were ALL GREAT, even the female actors and I usually don’t like the female actors especially if it’s a BL story I mean I just wanna watch the cute guys fall in love LOL. But these girls (Zol’s actress and Hwa’s actress) were killing it in every scene they were in. They were funny, they were interesting, they were amazing. Now, I had a problem with Zon’s actor, I don’t know why but I did not like him I mean I found him to be kind of all over the place, he made faces reacting to some things that I don’t think were right for the moments that were happening. I think Saint (Tutor’s actor, I love hiiiiim soo much) has been working on his acting a lot since his previous BL, Love by Chance, but I think that he is still trying to figure out how to cry properly in different characters, every time he was crying (maybe it was just my view of it) but I sense he was holding back a little and like trying to figure out what to do with his face a lot, but it didn’t happen all the time.

Favorites: Tutor, Fighter, Japan, Tanthai, Soda and Zen (he deserved more screentime (╥_╥) )

I really like the opening, I don’t usually like them but I actually really like this one. I don’t know why they changed it towards the middle of the show, I was like “I’m just getting used to this opening and you’re going to change it on me all of a sudden”, I don’t get that, and the rest of the music I didn’t really care for it.

I will definitely watch again in a couple months, when it’s not so fresh in my memory.

This is still cute despite visible flaws

The series is cute and lovable and the cinematography is very beautiful. The problem is the cast because some of supporting characters are still unrecognizable to me. I was still confused who is who, I only know Saint, Zee, Tommy, Jimmy, Perth and Goy. The rest, forgettable. I was really turned off everytime where there are scenes with many cringy sound effects. The production to this series in terms of effects is overdone. The last few episodes kinda turn me down but still good at the end. The soundtrack is beautiful. Story-wise, not the most concrete but still good to follow

I’m going make this simple

I can see why this is one of top BLs. I mean, it has all the qualities. Fluff, smut, parent issues, beach scene, BL fan girl you can relate to, cute characters/cast- you name it
I would 100% recommend this to watch. Although the casting could be better and I felt it was a tad confusing, the storyline was very sweet, the acting made me swoon, and so did the tension. Between Zon and Saifah, I felt like the smut scene was very forced... And why were they always going on a vacation?
Still, sweet beginning, a sweet end, and I throughly enjoyed watching it 😉👍 also I’m attracted to most of the characters. Tutor just swept me away lol
I watched this on YouTube FYI so please go see for yourself! It’s worth it

the acting skills is magnificent, Saint Suppapong is a great actor, after watching him in the bl drama 'Love by chance' i instantly fell in love, i love the way the music/background sounds match the scenes and honestly when i saw Tutor crying i was in tears too, when i saw Tutor and Fight get all excited and all my heart was just beating fast. the way that a bl drama can make a person feel a certain way or make a person feel the same way as the actors, is incredible.
I honestly fell in love with this drama, you know when i saw Tharn and Type(Mew Gulf)i was instantly distracted and i kept replying the same scene they were acting in. i really love these two.so cute
this drama is what people who are homosexual go through at times, there are tough times and there are happy times(but of course i don't just mean homosexual but all) we are bound to come across situations where we have no solution or no way out of it that we end up betraying our hearts, that's what Tutor did with Fight.
this drama really brings out the love of two men, who are willing to love each other and support each other.
i think that despite the misunderstanding between Tutor and Fight( when they started) they still loved each other.
like Zon and Saifah they slowly realize that they were falling in love with each other every time they get close.
this drama brings out the fire of how homosexual people would go through or experience.
i recommend this Drama for those who are bl and anyone interested.

First of all, I was skeptical because at the first scene of ep 1, the acting is weak and the voice over at the cartoon really is too... bad. But that was only that time. Because when it came to acting, everything fits so well! Although, Zon's character is too cringey (it gets better) , Timmy delivered it pretty well.

Saifah x Zon shipper to the max!

I love how balanced the two main couple are- FighTor as the 18 +ship while Saifah and Zon's is the innocent ship. BUT I KID YOU NOT, SAIFAH AND ZON'S NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES COMBINED KISSING AND HUG SCENE RIVAL'S THOSE OF FIGHTOR. The french kiss is too *chef's kiss* i kid you not, i was not at all expecting that! Then all of a sudden, there's tongue! Good lord , the sound *swoons*. I rewatched it multiple times and rewatches it still.

Saizon is really to pure, especially with Saifah being so cute!! Zon matured pretty well I like how he calmly just go to Saifah without being the shy baby that he is - Idk if matured, I don't also know if it's character development because his change is pretty abrupt- but after episode 8, he became less of a 'korean girl in novels' as said by saifah. He's a big baby ! I so love the saizon ship! The singing part?? Heavenly. It's like they were on their own little world. I especially love it because Timmy's (Zon's actor) has a godly voice.

Fightor is another hand- they were hot. The kissing scene was hot (nut no tongues, sadly). Let's talk about the emotional scene, I was not at all expecting to sob hard i tell you, at 3 am because of Zee and Saint's crying scene. Especially at Tutor's bedroom in ep 12 part 1. I was heaving and sobbing I could not breathe and im not even lying! They make me cry and laugh at the right moment, evoking the right emotions with their acting.

The music is oh my god, this is the first time I watched a thai series with a song that makes me have an LSS. I can't get the song out of my head ;_; and this is particularly hard because i don't eve know the lyrics and most of the time i just improvise it hehe/

11/10 recommend! I feel like i can watch this multiple times and not get tired at all. Wishing for more Saifah x Zon scenes that were abruptly cut short because of miss rona ! Please just go away miss rona :')

Side couple tops the main couple

This is your regular enemies to lovers trope bl with identity issue and parent opposition drama. Beginning of the series was quite engaging and funny. Fighter and Tutor has good chemistry but I find zon and saifah cuter. Zon and saifah scenes were funny and they had great chemistry. They are so adorable together and one of my favorite couples. If not for them, I would have dropped this series. I felt there should be more screen time for zon and Saifah. Overall, It is one time watch university drama with some cute moments.

The alternate universe and BL romance

Have you wondered if there are parallel universes in which Israel does not invade and colonize Palestine and its peoples were like brothers, each within their own borders, or the small, sovereign, rebellious and heroic Cuba is the one that imposes a genocidal blockade? economic, commercial and financial to the United States? Science is not willing to deny the possibility that there may be other realities parallel to ours in which things happen differently, but, for now, that only exists in film and television.
Our own universe is limited by the laws of physics, but when it comes to shows and movies, these rules can be bent and broken to create parallel universes and alternate realities where the possibilities are endless and the impossible is no longer impossible. Therefore, by managing to blur the boundaries between fiction and reality and, as a result, they leave us with great innovative stories, characters and incredible worlds that make us want to explore them, while testing the limits of our own mind.
The creators of 'Why R U' know this, who to curl the curl of their delirium of poetic science fiction and BL romance, decided to present a parallel reality in this 2020 Thai romantic series, to, through the multiverse, explore the possibility of getting to know a character in a million different ways, changing stories and destinies, correcting contexts, offering second chances or simply playing with our minds, with the aim of achieving an addictive and entertaining product.
Imagine waking up one day in a dramatic world written by your sister in which everything has become completely opposite to reality: your best friend is in love with his archenemy... and your lover is your nemesis.
In his personal vision and a distinctive style in his own cinematographic process, director Cheewin Thanamin Wongskulfat proposes the aforementioned synopsis to bring us a romantic comedy that revolves around two main couples, those made up of Tutor (Saint Suppapong Udomkaewkanjana) and Fighter ( Zee Pruk Panich), and Saifah (Jimmy Karn Kritsanaphan) and Zon (Tommy Sittichok Pueakpoolpol).
Intimacy, love, self-discovery, acceptance, sexual diversity, the search for happiness and coming of age, are some of the themes that the series explores through the dynamics of the characters, achieving hilarious scenes unique to the series. Thai drama, as well as intense, tender, romantic and dramatic moments, which are also inherent to the entertainment industry of that Southeast Asian nation.
The development of rivalry to friendship and from this to romance is one of the hooks to attract the public in Thai BL, and on this occasion it does not fail, despite the fact that the story of the alternative reality suffers some setbacks. along the way, or the poor development of events and secondary characters, especially Zon's friends, whose roles and performances, as comic relief, contribute little to the story.
With good, genuine performances and competent direction, the cinematography and scenery are surprisingly valuable. But the script falters at times. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, given all the Covid-19 production and post-production issues during the filming of the series, and the obvious hasty script rewrites.
The final episode is one of the great demonstrations of terrible writing. It rushes to the end of the series without anything interesting to say or show. And it's unfortunate, because the central story of the alternate reality has a lot of potential. It is right there, in those failures, when the creators try in their efforts to make the public understand when they are facing the real world and when they are facing the alternative reality, that all the cheesy clichés of the BL genre are incorporated, and the good work ends. , while satire and romantic comedy are left to their own devices.
The four main characters are introduced at the very beginning of the series through a dream sequence. In it, our main character, Zon, discovers that his best friend, Tutor, is in a relationship with his archenemy Fighter. But his astonishment increases when, suddenly, he discovers that his adversary Saifah approaches him and begins to show him affection, which obviously causes him to reject him and, scared, flee.
And at this point the series incorporates a component rarely used in Thai series: animation. Zon will continue his dream through the use of this film technique, allowing Cheewin to show a new facet as a director, since directing live action and animation films requires similar skills but results in very different experiences for the director, because although the task consists of direct the project in terms of its story, soundtrack, cast, costumes, special effects and editing, both types of productions have their determining characteristics.
But this will not be the only novelty, as the series has another big surprise in store for us, when Zon has hallucinations that involve several very popular BL characters. We are then fully introduced into a parallel universe.
Saifah is a very popular musician who frequently engages in pranks with his college friends. One of his most frequent pranks is playing pranks on Zon, so the two always end up involved in a fight every time they meet, in public or private.
For his part, Zon is a shy, but opinionated online science fiction writer. Much to his chagrin, his younger sister, Zol, maintains a vlog in which she writes and publishes successful BL novels whose characters are based on real people.
When Zon discovers that Zol is writing a BL story about his imaginary relationship with his nemesis Saifah, he insists that he delete them. She shamelessly asks him to swear that he has no feelings for Saifah, knowing beforehand about the two's accidental kiss during a fight. Zon hesitates to answer honestly, but swears anyway. And this is your mistake? His obvious lie throws him into an alternate BL universe, where Zol's boy romance story seems to come true.
Fighter and Tutor make up the other main couple. Tutor is an intelligent and wise engineering student who acts rationally. His family, once rich, now lives broke. To pay off his parents' debt and support himself financially, Tutor accepts several part-time jobs, including at a coffee shop near the university and his tutoring classes.
For his part, Fighter is an arrogant, emotional and aggressive final year student of the same major, who from the very first day he meets Tutor, when he goes to him to obtain his signature in that absurd process of welcoming students, New entrants to Thai universities, thanks to a misunderstanding, begin to treat each other with coldness and animosity.
Like Zon and Saifah, the relationship between Fighter and Tutor begins with contempt and eternal arguments, only to discover their true feelings for each other.
Their approach, both physical and emotional, begins to occur when Hwahwa, Tutor's childhood best friend, convinces Fighter to hire Tutor for private English classes that will help one to pass the subject and the other to improve. their economic position.
Between tutoring classes, Fighter discovers Tutor's personality and internal struggles. And what is expected happens, especially if we take into account that both look at each other with lust from the very first day they met.
Although everything seems to be going well for the couple and their relationship seems fluid and tender, both will face challenges and their love will be tested on more than one occasion. While the scene in which Tutor kisses Fighter's Adam's apple is considered one of the rawest, most beautiful scenes seen in a BL drama, Fighter's confrontation with his father when he discovers his son's romantic relationship with a boy, is without a doubt the most dramatic scene in the series. Tutor will be ordered to abandon the romance and leave Fighter alone.
Fortunately, both boys have friends, who will help them stay together and accept the challenges imposed by a society in which, despite homosexuality being legal, gay marriage and homosexual relationships are not recognized, and all those behaviors, Sexual preferences and identities that transgress the social regime and are outside of it - as is the case of lesbian women, gay men, transsexual and transgender people - occupy a marginal situation within the heteronormative system and are therefore discriminated against. , made invisible and persecuted through different mechanisms.
Both Tong and Hswahwa, Tutor's sister and best friend, respectively, will be among the people who encourage the couple. The first will be in charge of encouraging Fighter to follow his heart and love bravely. For their part, Zon and Saifah will also contribute to Fighter's father finally accepting the two young people's relationship.
Another moment to remember is the scene where Fighter and Tutor get into a fight that completely annihilates the former. Without going into more details so as not to give away too many spoilers, anyone who has seen the series will know exactly which scene I am referring to, but it would be correct to add that this is not the only occasion in which Zee and Saint show the talent of the two actors.
For Saifah and Zon, the innocence of their relationship is maintained so well throughout the series. To their surprise, Zon and Saifah have been chosen to perform at the university concert as a duo. Initially, they are unwilling to share the stage, but, forced by circumstances, both begin regular practices on campus and at Saifah's house. And this is how the romance between the two begins.
Of note are two moments of the couple: the torrential rain scene under which both boys begin to run holding hands, and the pajama party after which Saifah develops an interest in Zon.

A MUST WATCH BL!

WhyRU is not just about two boys falling in love, kissing and everything. It also shows or addresses the current situation of the homosexual relationships esp when it comes to family. I really love this show eventhough it's still on air. It made me wish to skip other days of the week so I can watch the next episode. The actors are also great, their acting skills is superb. If you would ask me if I would rewatch this, I'll say "too late to ask for that cause I'm rewatching it already". I love the chemistry of the couples here but I'm shipping real hard the SaintxZee couple. I want them to be real ?

I like this series so far, it's positive and cute. The story is amusing and enjoyable (mixing romance, a bit of comedy, student life, and family life).
The acting is so good, it takes time to get used to the characters because in some ways the plot is slow while in other ways it's fast, and the acting is accordingly. One needs to watch more than 5 episodes to understand everything that is going on and to fully appreciate the development and the acting. The chemistry is real!!!
I also liked the contrast between the two main couples, one has strong sexual tension while the other has a cute love development.
