Both are about pupils who are forced to fight each other to survive.

Survival at any cost? Both movies stick to the (by now classic) theme of getting through a terrifying game in order to survive.
Battle Royale is by far the most well known of the Asian ones and the one that paved way for all that followed. BR is much gorier but also better in plot and premise. If you like survival flicks, you will probably like both of them.

Both movies have killing in it. Try it.

Dangerous "games" without escape, lead by a mysterious man/woman.

Very similar plot:

Towards the end of their summer holiday, a group of high school students’ peaceful lives are disrupted. Someone named “Admin” adds them to a chat group and forces them to play a killing game. Before they find and remove “the target”, whose identity is unknown, anyone in the chat group who does not reply to other members’ messages will die instantly. Panic strikes as students in the class suddenly die one by one. Ho Hei Yin, a gentle and simple student, fights with “Admin” to protect his precious friends.

They are both based on horror/psychological thriller manga, both follow the idea of a hero or group of heroes trying to uncover and catch a mastermind who wants everyone dead, and despite the similarities, the stories vary greatly in many ways. Plus, Ousama Game is one movie instead of a series, so you won't be wasting much time if you happen not to like it!

Phone mysteries? then you don't wanna missed these movies. :))

These two flicks have the same basic theme - in order to survive - you have to play the diabolical game. However, there is a bit of a difference in the air of the movies.
While Ousama Game stays at the creepier side, following the classic concept of an Asian survival horror movie, As the Gods Will strays into the really bizarre and surreal, with much more fantasy elements. The latter is based on a highly popular horror manga and I for one, prefer AtGW due to the more complex plot and high energy development and pace.
Ousama Game isn't very graphic but As the Gods Will is quite gory.
But if you like the concept of survival games, you will probably like both.
