I enjoyed the show until I started looking back at events and analysing things once the show ended. It had a huge loophole and had me go "wait a minute". The actors did their parts with a lot of conviction and had me rooting for the main lead even though she was always making stupid decisions. The banter between the leads looks natural and is fun to watch. Zhou zi xin comes across as despicable and does her role as a jealous sister very well. I wish we saw more of Zhao xin and her growth into a more confident person, but she plays a paranoid person with low self esteem beautifully. So all in all as long as you don't sit to analyse the show and its events you'll enjoy it.

I could weep… with relief that this is finally over

(Spoiler warning. Again. If you’re going to be put out to know how this drama ends, skip this review)

This was painful to finish. Given that Qian Qian created this world, I expected her to navigate it more cleverly. On the contrary—she’s a complete ditz. Watching her make a fool of herself nonstop and without fail was bad enough, but her total lack of consideration for how her actions affected those around her was what really got under my skin. Sure, let’s actively contribute to a conflict between two cities that, best case scenario, ends in countless dead and half the total population branded as property.
Why? Because once the story comes to its predetermined end, Qian Qian will return to our world.
How do we know that? We don’t. She just assumed that would work. Just like how she assumed every character she killed off in her script was still destined to die, despite her own continued survival proving that theory false.

If you hear a distant thumping sound, it’s totally NOT me banging my head against a brick wall.

Chu Chu is given a villain arc. I assume I’m supposed to hate her. If anything, I’m impressed she made it as long as she did without wanting to kill Qian Qian.
Han Shuo is supposed to be the hero. He’s actually kinda rape-y and doesn’t seem to learn ANYTHING from his experiences as “the inferior sex.” There’s very little takeaway on that subject until the last 3 episodes, which is when the drama finally develops any real substance. Suddenly Qian Qian becomes a pacifistic strategist, Han Shuo becomes a feminist, and Chu Chu becomes a convincing tyrant, complete with the evil-pointy-eyebrows. Yay for last-minute plot development (and random Mulan cameos??? I mean… ig).
Qian Qian and Han Shuo’s forced chemistry is so cringey, I was cackling when QQ fake-died and HS legit-died.

I wish I had counted how many times I thought to myself, “Kill me now. It would be less painful.”
Run while you can.

I am burning in rage and disappointment.

Because of the high reviews, I decided to watch this. I was also looking forward to it since it seems like it'd be refreshing and all - I was wrong. To watch this, you need to throw away your logics and your last remaining brain cells.

Almost every episode is full of misunderstanding, dog-blood, bullshit, plot-holes, and cliche-trope (trip, fell, and kiss SERIOUSLY WHO DOES THAT NOWADAYS). The story is so so so ridiculous, I have to commend the team for actually putting this into a web series. MC is full of bullshit, side character and main character comedies seemed force, It is so illogical that I feel like only Pei Heng has the actual brain cells in this whole story. ML suddenly fell for MC with no rhymes or reason. He is horrible then suddenly sweet to MC there is no in-between. MC is horrible for making every situation worse for the supposed heroine. I completely understand Chen Chu2's rage.

MC was scared of getting killed, why didn't he just divorced or separated from ML since they're not 'married' anyway. It's possible as ML is just a hostage and that women are superior in her city. MC lets people point fingers at her when she's a fucking princess. She became a commoner, was hated by every people in the city then instantly became a saint-like a figure then ultimately a fucking city owner!?!??!

I have to say, MC's protagonist halo and plot armor are so fucking strong that it turned this full of potential web series into a bullshit one.

On the other part, I love ZLS and DYX. They completely fit the character lol. And the first few episodes were actually pretty sweet and humourous. Then it completely went downhill.

Also apparently, there's a season 2. Will it be for modern them or the ancient them? (unoff) title seems like it'll be for the ancient them but how will they go back there? If it is modern, will they meet chu2, yuan2, Pei heng, and other characters from the novel then bullshit ensues?

No boring Episode Smart Funny Leads and Great Supporting Casts

From the start, this drama is so captivating. I love the couple, and how they have misunderstandings that don't drag for the entire drama. The leads are funny and romantic, and it's even charming when they bicker.

Their right hand men are also hilarious. Even the antagonists are not so despicable. I love the twists of the story in every episode. Lusi's costumes enhanced her cuteness in the drama. Plus, she's not a dumb female lead here (yehey!). There isn't a boring episode in this drama.

The only downside of this series, is that the ending scene was too short that you don't have enough time to bask it in. Could have done with just another episode of their cuteness.

It's nice. It just lacks depth.

It was indeed funny, cute, light and sweet. Also, it actually highlighted stereotypes and prejudice in a comedic and light manner.

The comedy feature is surely my favorite. The supporting characters definitely owned it! I love how this drama put light on them-- they matter and are part of the story. You would love watching them and not just the leads.

There's a few with character development. I'd say the male lead had the best one.

The plot isn't so common so that's good. It's also like a story with many chapters but not to the extent of being too complicated.

Now on a side note...

I understand that Xiao Qian's work was scrutinized for who knows how bad it was, and I'm just watching what she wrote. Still, it kinda felt draggy. This may be comedic, light, and fantasy, but I hope they added depth to it. It's a 24-episode drama. If the events don't age well, then it would really feel flat. It had so much potential, but it falls every time like it's not being taken seriously. If this is about showing a bad story writing (Xiao Qian's screen writing in this case), then I think 24 episodes are too much for that.

Anyway, I like it. I just can't help to think it's unfortunate it didn't develop well when it had so much potential.

Like my title says, you will definitely NEVER regret watching this drama. oh my goodness graciousness, I've always admired the female lead since seeing her in oh my emperor and her acting has improved by landslides. whoever developed the story WASN'T PLAYING AROUND! you can feel second-hand embarrassment from these characters which just tells you how they lit the stages ~~~ the were both very emotive and conveyed the story so well! This isn't your average low-budget rom com: IT'S THE REAL DEAL! while it's obviously not at the production/costume $$$ value of Empress of China or The story of Ming Lan, it's one of the THE BEST (chef's kiss***) rom com dramas I've watched. It has the perfect amount of comedy and pulls you in immediately then when the deep hardcore drama sets in, YOU'VE ENTERED A DARK PORTAL FROM WHICH YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THIS STORY!!!
It isn't lame either; you know those kiss scenes which are just mild pecks (EYE ROLLS**), no, SQUEALS**, you feel their chemistry bubbling here ^_^

An hilarious romcom..

The Romance of Tiger and Rose is amazing. The unique storyline on time traveling but a screen writer falling into the world by her own script. The world that the writer fell is a world where females are the head of the household and men are treat less. It is intriguing to see and imagime a World different from ours. I love the development of the characters and of course the love story of QianQian and Han Shuo. Their realtionship is so beautitul and full of pure love for one another.
I am going to give away a small spoiler but there is a line that your ears will never get tired of hearing. Han Shuo says to QianQian, "I can't live without u." It's just so beauittul. It's not a spolier really but there are lot more of these heart clutching lines Han Shuo sayss to her in the show.
This show is full of really funny scenes that makes me clutch my rib because of laughĩng too hard. They get better in each episode. I just love it. It's the kind of laughter that leaves u smiling plus a good mood for the whole day. This show is definitelx going to go on my shelf of favourite dramas. You won't regret watching it.

Thank u for the inspirator behind the show, the writers, director, actresses, actors, and the staff for their hard work. And hoping that u watch this amazing comedy romance drama.

The Romance of Tiger and Rose was unexpectedly perfect for me. I don't have a lot of C-dramas under my belt when compared to how many K-dramas I've watched, but I have been drawn to them recently for historicals because of the costumes and "epic" feels. I'm so glad I gave this a shot because it is now my absolute favorite C-drama I've watched so far! The trailer is very reflective of what to expect from this drama, which I really appreciate, because usually the trailers are super short and tell you NOTHING about the drama or they completely mislead the tone/theme of the drama.

Ryan Ding and Zhao Lu Si had exceptional chemistry and their acting was phenomenal! AND their voice actors were very well selected, which was a HUGE plus for me (many times, voice actors can be very distracting and awkward, taking away from the overall drama for me).

The balance of romance, comedy, and political intrigue was so well executed that I just wanted to watch more and more until I finished the story. I found myself rewinding many episodes just to watch a scene all over again because it was either HILARIOUS or pulled at my heartstrings. My heart really ached at times, especially when it came to QianQian and Han Shuo realizing their feelings for each other through misunderstandings and heartbreak. The tension built up between them and then the betrayals/tragedy of their romance had me eating the story up while crying! XP

The ending (last 4 episodes) wasn't as good as the rest of the drama - the story somewhat slowed down... BUT I really loved how Chen Xiao Qian and her story evolved. She started in her story with all the knowledge to get along just fine in her fictional world, but as she forced her own survival as Chen QianQian, she changed the story so much so that by the end, she couldn't predict or ensure any ending based on her plans because things had changed too much for her to control. I really enjoyed watching this realistic development. And while things got a little boring and not as intense in episodes 22/23, I think it really gave Xiao Qian a greater sense of where her imperfections lie in her world-building of her story, so when she woke up, she knew how to further perfect her story.

The ending was life. I was so happy that things turned out that way because I don't think I would have been able to handle a true tragedy. AND the ending isn't too much for this genre, so it was a very happy, fitting ending. Some people are dissatisfied with their shortness of the ending, and while I wouldn't have complained to get a bit more of their happily-ever-ever, what was given was enough to satisfy me, so I'm happy. :D

I would recommend this to anyone. Really. If you like comedy and romance and don't mind historicals, this is a must watch. And even if you're not a huge fan of historicals, really, this drama is still fantastic. I can't rave enough about it! The Romance of Tiger and Rose is very much a character driven story: watching Han Shuo and QianQian fall in love, going from enemies-lovers and how their romance changes everything was such a wonderful experience that I can't help but want others to experience too! I will be watching again for sure!

I originally got into this after seeing a sort of isekai genre story where the leads interact like the leads in Weightlifting Fairy and the series didn't let me down. I don't usually watch series that are parody like but it was beautiful, funny, frustrating at times and made me smile. A lighthearted drama that leaves you scrambling for more.

THE STORY
The story is basically a parody on the isekai genre and it was a fun take. They took all the cliches and used them in a fresh way and in a way that shows you plot holes but uses the plot holes themselves as reason for humor. The story acknowledged the stupidity of the characters and the premise and it actually worked so well. I don't really have many complaints except for Xiaoqian making a few completely stupid actions that make zero sense and made me tear my hair out or how the make up for nonsensical reasons but that's totally fine. It was a romcom on crack and the editing made me cackle. There were no episodes that left me not laughing and everyone was super in sync- even the side characters. Misunderstandings were solved quickly and logically and it followed a timeline that made a lot of sense, which was surprising in a good way.

One thing that was obvious was how the writer thought ahead, and while they acknowledge the stupidity in the story, does not let it define the story and use it as an excuse to make a half-assed plot. The central conflict was simple, but don't mistake simple for bad. The writer took into account the premise and actually built a feasible plot that progressed very well. While there was definitely an episode around the middle that felt draggy, there was a good balance in the plot itself, which made the series enjoyable, funny but not going off into nowhere like plots like this are prone to. I think it helps that there were only 24 episodes- but now it makes me want more!!

THE CAST
The cast was fairly young and what I understand are newer actors but they performed quite well. I don't have much to say as they all were in sync- and had great chemistry together. From Han Shuo and Bai Ji to even Chuchu and Qianqian, the relationships felt believable and real despite the crack of the plot and the wild card of Qianqian. Zhao Lu Si portrayed the very essence of Qianqian and Ryan Ding was a completely charming Han Shuo- he went from an "okay" character to one with a fleshed out personality- a tiger that turned into a little kitten in front of his love.

I appreciated how they fell in love- it wasn't instalove nor was it full of bad misunderstandings- okay they did try and kill each other so many times but they grew into a cute and loving relationship. Their pacing was surprisingly very good and I enjoyed seeing the changes in Han Shuo and how the craziness of Qianqian brought out the sides of himself that he thought he lost as he grew up. Truly, their romance was better and actually felt real as opposed to the original script by Xiaoqian- and it showed how she herself realized it and how "real" character relationships should be.

MUSIC
The music was cute and suited all the scenes. While the songs weren't completely my style, it was perfect for setting the moods and often put a smile to my face. Their integrations were pretty flawless.

CONCEPTS
The whole editing that would remind me of memes was used well- not overused and had the perfect comedic timing. I also love the comparison of tiger and rose- the title was integrated pretty well with the symbolism.

REWATCH VALUE
I would rewatch anytime! This was super cute and had great energy and there's no way I'd get tired of it at all. I loved how their bickering reminded me of the main couple in Weightlifting Fairy and I have been looking for more couples like them- I'm glad I found these two (PS if anyone knows about a couple with similar dynamics please tell me the drama name!!).

CONCLUSION
It was hilarious, fuzzy, heartbreaking, heart-capturing and beautiful! I surprisingly loved this series so much and I'd recommend it to anyone that would like to take a break from long dramas and tragic angsty romances. This was a fun watch and I'm so glad I came across it :)

This drama deserves to be no.1 drama in all historical dramas it's just amazing. It has the right amount of humor, romance, drama, battles and scheming and the acting of both lead is really amazing and deserves lots of applaud I don't usually like chinese historical dramas and usually don't watch beyond 5 eps because they tends to have too much dramas and scheming or the acting or script is not convincing but this one is catchy from ep 1. The story is good and the characters of the drama are seriously good. the writer did an amazing job in the story it didn't contain too much plot twists and scheming to attract the viewers because the story and how is it going in addition to the acting is interesting enough. The script is also amazing no cheesy or cringy romance and the humor is sooo good. the actors had great skills and expressed their characters and their emotions in an amazing way. The music was really good and matches the story and the vibe of the drama and the director was super amazing the music and the volume at each scene was very accurate it was so professional and sound effects were so spot on and the camera work was very good too. The director became my favorite chinese director.
A round of applaud for all the staff of the drama.

Romance & Comedy drama that includes many heart wrenching crying scenes

The main leads for this drama were some of my favourite actors. Their acting was amazing. This drama includes lots of comedy but there were also many scenes that made me sob my eyes out. Just in the first 5 episodes, I probably cried 3 times. The plot was pretty new too. I was hesitant to watch it at first but its so worth watching. I already recognized Zhao Lusi (female lead) from one of my old favourite dramas, Untouchable Lovers, and she grew so much. This is the drama that made me fall in love with this actress. She plays many different roles very well. This drama made me have so much emotions, I remember a scene where i was sobbing then started laughing because of what happened afterwards

A must watch romcom

If you want to watch a historical Chinese drama with light politics and full of comedy, then you have come to the right place. This drama is full of comedy. The moment you will think things are getting serious, it will hit you with a huge laugh.

The drama is about Xiaoqian who dreams into her own drama as a minor character. I love this kind of stories. So the moment I read the synopsis, I jumped into the drama.

Zhao Lusi, as usual did a great job with her character. She is so cute and boubly. She pulled her character very well and will make you fall in love with her.

Ryan Ding also did a great job. His character Han shou is the cutest husband one will ever get. Initially he came for his own interest. But the moment he fall in love with Chen qianqian, he will not let her go. He is scheming, cold and ruthless but the moment he sees Chen qianqian, his heart melts. Such a caring and cute husband.

Not only the main leads but other characters will entertain you as well. Especially the servants of the main leads. They are hilarious and adorable.

As a whole, this drama is a must watch if you are having a hard time cause this drama will surely make you laugh.

A must watch drama who likes romcom as well as others.
