NO DOUBTS BEST 2021 CHINESE DRAMA!!! TT

I just finished watching it and here I am writing my very first review on MDL, cos I just had to do it cos this drama was deserves every ounce of love and recognition. First of all this is my first ever Chinese on air drama that I did not stop in the middle at all, these 45 mins episodes felt like 10 minutes, I swear, at the end of each episode I was like omg is it finished already ?! My heart was so filled with happiness because of this drama.

Before it released it was compared to Descendants of The Sun a lot, just cos FL was a doctor just as DOTS but here ML was a police officer (in DOTS he is a soldier)

I always loved DOTS and it is one of my favourites kdramas but YAMH holds a special place in my heart now, I almost completely love it more than DOTS TT

I mostly watch kdramas but eventually watch Chinese dramas too, usually the on air ones I tend to stop them for while if it gets boring but this was different: the story, the cast, OST, and honestly just everything was amazing. The synopsis might sound very similar to other military/medical dramas or not very innovative, but once you start watching it you'll be totally hooked.
The drama does not only focus on the main leads' love story, but their respective careers too which I found soo interesting. The drama shows both doctors and the SWAT teams' lives in a very detailed way.

Xing Ke Lei (Bai Jing Ting) is showed as this strict SWAT team captain when working but in reality he is a handsome, cute and caring boyfriend and brother too. Mi Ka (Sandra Ma) is very independent and dreams to save as many lives as she can and cares a lot about others, and she inspired me a lot as a person.

SOME MORE GOOD POINTS ABOUT THIS DRAMA:

- The main couple is very understanding and they have a very healthy relationship, there's no unnecessary drama or arguments. Both main actors' chemistry was great and the acting was natural, and you can't even feel the age difference between the two.
- The second couple was really cute too, unlike what other viewers said, I really liked them even though Shu Wen Bo was a little slow at expressing his feelings but then acted quickly... Ruan Qing Xia is successful woman, her character is very cool and watching her trying hard for Shu Wen Bo was really fun.
-The third couple, which I thought I wouldn't like as much, turns out to be one of my favourites, they were very understanding, both grown up adults that don't express in words, they just quietly understand each other which was so so cute.
- OST was brilliant, I did not skip the intro and ending track once and for the next couple of months they're going to stay on repeat!!

Overall, I loved this drama, it taught me a lot, and each character had their own story and flaws. 40 episodes just flew by and I'll miss it like crazy, and also the checking the comments section daily, reading spoilers on twitter and MDL, I have never been this much invested into a drama and discussed it with so many people here on MDL ever before lmfao.

I can't thank the cast and team of YAMH enough for this gem!! Thanks for reading!! <3

Don't go to Dr Mi Ka even for check up..

Ok...I can say I know well about Hospital/medical environment (not in China). In reality, patients are more abundance than white coats and no surgeons hang out with less than PA. Anyway, Sandra Ma is too young to be a Neurosurgeon no matter how brilliant she's academically, at least 15-20 years after HS to become junior neurosurgeon few years before they can obtain license and certification - she should be at least 32-35-40 years old to become one because it's very extensive study and training, when they use all the medical terminology I don't think she could independently doing a procedure without higher supervision or maybe is in China..I don't know...especially Outpatient hospital does not perform any major surgery like brain /nerve. Exaggeration of medical environment, that's all I can say, but yes...it's only drama not real cases. Become a doctor isn't easy, not to mention a neurosurgeon, only a few were achieve to that level. It bothers me watching this drama. But ok, besides the reality of it, Dr Mi Ka isn't typical so don't try it at home. Xing Ke Lei was pretty cute, he looks like on his early 20th and Xing Ke Yao a pretty cool sister, amazing brother/sister relationship. Shao Yu Han is more like a surgeon, maturity and mind set likely close to the real one. I like this drama fine....can't give higher overall rate than 7. l like the most was Wayne Wang and Zhang Yao....

One of the Best Cdrama I've Ever Watched

If you like light romance story with no major problems or misunderstanding in relationships, this series is for you.

The main character is Doctor Mi, Mi Ka. An independent woman with clear vision as a doctor. Kind-hearted and gentle. The real definition of good doctor. And there's our Captain Xing, Xing Kelei. An exceptional captain of special police officer squad (SWAT). Handsome, cool and charismatic. A very good match indeed.

Let's talk about the thing I love the most in this series, the main couple. They might not be able to see each other or have dates that often because of their jobs, but their relationship remain strong without any big disputes. They have a really mature relationship in my opinion. When there's a problem, they are willing to talk it out immediately and solved it so it doesn't cause any misunderstanding or a bigger problem. I really love Ka-Lei relationship. They're not selfish for their partner's attention and really trust each other. Love, trust, considerate, understanding, communication. They have it alI. I guess that's the basic of mature relationship. "When you need a shoulder to lean on, I'll always be here. When you need someone to support you, I'll be your strongest pillar."

The second couple's story is quite interesting. I really admire witty Xiao Xia's courage. Not gonna lie sometimes I want to punch Wenbo on the gut. But nevertheless I love the second couple as well. They're so cute. The third couple's story is interesting too. I love sassy but classy Sis Keyao and also Doctor Shao's personality. They really suit each other.

About the plot, there are not any unnecessary scenes. The plot is outstanding and well-written, flows really well. It has something that can get you addicted with the story, so you won't be able to stop watching and always want to know what happened next. This series shows you the reality of doctors and polices. The casting director did a very good job. The acting is top-notch, the chemistry between couples/friends/teammates is good. Suitable soundtracks for every situations/parts that need soundtracks.

Super recommended series, one of the best. Must watch! I definitely will rewatch again!

THIS IS THE SIGN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IF YOU'RE HESITANT TO WATCH IT!!

Ok so I just found this one accidentally (sometimes dramas you find accidentally are the best) ended up watching it ongoing every week. Lol I guess it's because their first meeting ain't boring at all (well atleast for me I have soft spot for actions haha) and that's the reason why I fell inlove with Xing Kelei's character. He looks like a serious/cold captain at first but who wouldn't have thought that he is the sweetest guy you would want to have in your life. He is such a cutie, acting superior in front of his Tiger Assault Team and his missions but acts like a baby when it comes to Mi Ka
You can easily notice that he have something for Mi Ka the second time they met at the training ground. He's attention is always on Mi Ka, calling her out always which is the cutest. He's the first one who soften up. At first I was kinda hating Mi Ka's character because I find Kelei the one who always make an effort in their relationship, but! Ended up appreciating Mi Ka's mature approach when it comes to their relationship because they both have special jobs, she is a doctor, he is a captain of special police. I don't think they have face big dating conflicts like in some dramas all throughout the story because they both think each others perspective (which is what I really do love). For me they have the healthiest relationship.
And that's the charm of this drama.

Highly recommended and will probably rewatch this one.

WARNING! This drama will ruin all other dramas for you!

Before I begin with this review, let me make a few things clear:

1) This is not a remake of DOTS!! The synapsis can definitely be misleading here, but truthfully speaking, they’re hardly alike. In my opinion, this is a completely different plot and is much better than DOTS.

2) The crew has somehow read our minds to create one of the best dramas out there. No, I’m not exaggerating. I’m sure most people will agree.

3) If you find C-Dramas to be too cliche, don’t worry, there’s none of that here! Although like every other drama, there are the typical moments here and there, it’s nothing like other very cliche C-Dramas.

4) Although 40 episodes seems long, it’s so amazing and well organized that you'll never want it to end.

Now, let’s begin this review.

Synopsis:

Honestly, no matter how I put this, for some reason, it will still sound like DOTS. Before I watched it, I thought the same. I admit, the main idea and theme of the plot is similar, but the watching experience and storyline are almost completely different. In other words, keep it a surprise ;)

Overall review:

The best way I can describe this drama is that the crew has somehow gone into our heads, saw what we truly want in a drama, made it 10x better, and put it out there for us to enjoy. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that this drama has been so good that not only has it become my favourite, but I find it so hard to look for a new drama to watch these days. After seeing this, most other dramas go to trash. This masterpiece they created is going to be very very difficult to beat.

You know that feeling you had as a kid on the mornings of an exciting field trip? Waking up extra early and immediately thinking “it’s finally the day!”. That! That’s exactly how this drama made me feel every morning: an excitement I never thought I could once again experience. I would impatiently count the days until Thursday would come along, wake up so early every time a new episode is released, and immediately get watching. I have to admit, it deserved that. I’ve seriously never loved a drama this much. From the cast, the story, the visuals, the chemistry, and everything else, it’s just perfect.

The primary thing that kept me so intrigued was the swoon worthy plot. No it wasn’t cringy. And no, the characters didn't really make big stupid decisions that caused major misunderstadigs, rather they found a balance and were understanding of each other’s careers as well as being honest to one another. This healthy relationship balance is one that I’ve never seen so successful in a drama before. It’s usually either too much drama or too little drama, too many misunderstandings or unrealistically smooth, but this one was so well prepared that everything happened at the right time and place. In my opinion, this is the primary reason this drama is so successful. It’s like a delicious and satisfying perfectly balanced breakfast to get you ready for the day.

The characters were of course the best part of the show. SPOILER ALERT! We’re introduced to 3 very different couples. All with a different story, history and pace. I love having multiple couples in dramas, but this one truly beats all. There are no stupid complications and love triangles between them (maybe a little ;), rather they were all friends rooting for each other to be together and finally come to form a beautiful bond.

I could say a lot more, but this is already too long. To sum this up, I have one final thing to say: Uhum uhum. WATCH IT! NOW! I don’t care what doubts you have, just watch it! Believe me, you won’t regret it :)

Thank you for reading :)

A DRAMA THAT LET'S CHARACTERS BE NORMAL? A GENUINE 10/10 IN MY BOOK!

Wow, this drama never failed to amaze... From beginning to end, it was entertaining, cute, and made you gasp for the characters at times. I remember sitting back and thinking from time to time "THEY LET THEM RESOLVE THAT ISSUE NORMALLY? NO BREAK UP, NO RUNNING AWAY? LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE?" - I've been so scarred by tropey dramas I thought my eyes were deceiving me.

I REALLY, REALLY appreciate the writers for this one - they finally figured out how to write up a story that lets a FL defend herself, allows the couple to be together the entire time, and keeps open communication between characters at all times. What a rare find!

What I like about this drama is that it almost tricks you into thinking they'll follow one of the many drama tropes we know, (sickness that leads to breakup or dishonesty, an evil female / male lead that tries to break the main cp up, family members that object the relationship, workmates that start crushing on our leads, misunderstandings that break characters up, etc.) but they don't! They quickly move past their problems and their relationship is so much stronger - just like people in real life do.

I love the main couple too, Bai Jing Ting and Sandra Ma did a wonderful job as Xing Kelei and Mi Ka. Their relationship is exactly as it should be - great communication, always trying to be honest with each other, EXCELLENT CHEMISTRY, and very understanding of each other... Even when it might be hard. I liked the incorporation of their fields and it was exciting to watch the characters in action. The second couple took a while to finally get together, but I was rooting for them the whole time! (And they were the CUTEST) Also AGH, the second male lead (Shu Wen Bo / Cheng Hao), someone give this man a main lead!

This drama was a definite 10/10, I don't see why you're not starting it now!

Fun

So this gets a good solid 7 from me. Not a masterpiece in my mind but entertaining. ML is adorable. It is somewhat hard to believe he is the youngest SWAT captain ever but we will let that go. Female lead is normal in pretty much everything. That is why I guess I enjoyed it so much. I can not tolerate these Cdramas where the female lead is in her mid-twenties and acts like a thirteen year old. I think all in all they were a pretty cute normal couple. The second couple I did find very annoying. The second FL was a stalker in my mind and the second ML was just a total blockhead. The third couple I enjoyed and was rooting for. This was a welcome relief from the last few shows I have tried to get through. I would say one of my favorite fluff dramas of this year.

Slow plot advancement, average acting, uninteresting and unrealistic hospital and swat scenes

I do not understand why this drama has such high ratings except for the fact that the male lead is handsome and some view it as an idol drama meant for younger audiences.

Both the swat and hospital seems were incredibly unrealistic, and there’s no chemistry, friendship, character development between the colleagues in the hospital or the SWAT environment. The disaster relief, training and crime busting scenes had no interesting stories, making them time wasters.

The FL is not able to come across as someone who has finesse and excellence in her job while being ditsy at the same time simply because of the way she handles patients and medical equipment (along with all the rest of the cast as well actually). It’s forgiveable that she handles medical emergencies like someone worse than a first-aider, but she at least needs to have the facial expressions to go along with it, that’s why it’s called acting.

That said, the main dullness of the show the female FL and ML, and the 2nd leads, don’t have a strong character or plot arc.

The drama is simply filled with patient and swat training when there’s nothing going on between between the cast.

I dropped the drama at episode 18.

Like a mixtape of classic dramas with an unique lead couple

Nothing really screams romance as much as a woman in a wedding gown surrounded by a SWAT team… yes beautiful men in black and big black jeeps...

At first, I thought this was a mixture of Decedents of the sun with, Love is sweet and my little happiness. Then I realized that the creators of this drama must of had allot of fun brain storming classic drama plots to call out or just twist and turn. I assume it sounded abit like this: so where can we put in an evil childhood lover and what can we do with it... and how many close to death encounters can we fit in to this drama? I don’t know if it was meant to be funny but I definitely laughed at them.

The main couple is probably one of the sweetest c-drama couples out there. They make you wonder if it may be worth being taken hostage if it means you will meet a guy like him, but then he was the only one like him in his team so I wouldn’t take the risk if I had a choice... They truly evolved as a couple and had this great awkwerdness at first that turned in to this fun and mature relationship with allot of humor such as:
Ml - my sister will skin me alive!
Fl - what are you worried about I will stitch it back on for you.

Though the male lead did have light stalking tendencies in the beginning it was more of a I want to help you without you knowing because otherwise you won’t accept my help, and not a I’m going to find out everything about you so I can own you kind of stalking so I forgive him.

The male lead actually never forced himself on the female lead not even the classic kiss her in her sleep or when she is too drunk to remember kiss. Though he did make the classic mistake of listening to his dumb friend he was otherwise a truly amazing guy who didn’t mind showing his abs…

The female lead is smart, funny, self-aware and really kind without being overly naive. A truly lovable character.

The side characters have their ups and downs some of them are awesome others mid annoying to sweet at the same time and one was truly a nuisance, a good looking nuisance but still a nuisance.

To sum this up this was a fun drama, with an adorable couple and lots of everything

Real

It is hard to keep this review short so know that you’ve been warned.

If I were to describe this series in relationship terms I would say we started out as casual friends then we sort of liked each other but not so sure about the other one yet and then ever so slowly, one episode at a time, fell head over heels in love with each other, for keeps! A one of a kind slice of life genre that started with a small spark which slowly burned and became a massive bonfire that kept me warm and fuzzy all over.

This is definitely not a love at first sight drama, in fact its similarity with DOTS, which I love, was quite a turnoff . I have to admit that the first episode was a bit over the top and unrealistic for me. It took a while to get over the dumb smiles and cutesy scenes in the beginning but the very same smiles melted my heart in the end. I can’t get over how natural and fresh the entire cast were in their performances! Such a talented group of artists!

I can’t pick a favourite among the main three couples to be honest. All of them brought something different to the table, different perspectives on relationships each unique in their own right. Some scenes are cliched and some scenes will never happen in real life but there’s something somewhere someone can relate here because there’s so many everyday real issues. Subtle things like the brother-sister banter, the teacher-student learning relationship and yes even the gossip chain were thoughtfully and realistically woven into the picture. The one thing that felt forced was the part of the two sisters who appeared out of nowhere but they didn’t stay for long so I forgave the screenwriter, lol! If you came here for the action then you will get some which I thought was impressive but it would not satisfy a hard core action fan. Same for the medical geeks out there, some but not a whole lot for you. What this drama has lots of is CUTENESS OVERLOAD, there no shame in saying it out loud, lol! One other thing I liked was how they highlighted the importance of other professions out there, not just the police and doctors. But what resonated to me the most was how the main couple honestly admitted how imperfect their love was because they may have to serve others first before each other. Both understood the nature of their careers and respected it and were at peace with that, isn’t that beautiful?

There’s plenty to take away from small talks from everyone which happens in almost every episode so if you’re not one for these talks then you will definitely find this drama boring. For me, I really like these casual talks between the FL and her friend, full of mature understanding which most folks look for in friendships so it’s obvious that I enjoyed this drama a lot :) The OSTs were quite catchy and lovable. If you want a feel-good series in a slow way then this one is for you.

A Warm Chicken Soup Feel-good Drama

I discovered Bai Jing Ting in “Ping Pong Life”. I love his acting as a scrawny, lack of confidence kid in that drama. When I stumbled on “You Are My Hero”, I realized he plays a totally different role here as a commanding police officer in the special force. I was curious: how does a seemingly scrawny Bai Jing Ting play an authoritative role? I was totally swept off my feet by his unexpectedly over-the-top performance here, and his amazing charisma. Together with the ever lovable Ma Si Chun (Sandra Ma), this drama is so enjoyable to watch.

This is a romance story of a police officer and a doctor, both save lives -- one heals to save, the other kills to save. Despite their respective jobs that are very demanding, they are both passionate with what they’re doing, love each other and are each other’s hero.

I was sucked into the drama within the first episode, like a tornado sweeping me off my feet. Everything is so well done here – all the scenes are very real, like the hospital where Mi Ka (Ma Si Chun) works, the surgery rooms where she operates; the police academy where Xing Ke Lei (Bai Jing Ting) trains, the dangerous hostage police scenes where he kills to protect; and most of all, the earthquake ground zero scenes with the disaster zones, survivors and rescue teams. All these scenes are so real and believable, and all actors have given their best performance here.

Both the male lead (ML) and female lead (FL) are strong, courageous and excellent in what they’re doing. Mi Ka (Ma Si Chun) is a talented neuro-surgeon. She’s kind, amiable, humble, intelligent with a sense of humor. Ma Si Chun may not have the Miss Pageant kind of beauty but she is perfect in this role as a surgeon who cares more about her skills than her look. And this is precisely the attraction for Xing Ke Lei (Bai Jing Ting) who falls in love with her for her authenticity and unpretentiousness. As Xing Ke Lei, Bai Jing Ting is serious, deadly, authoritative, but without losing his sense of humor too. His transformation from a wimpy kid in “Ping Pong Life” to a commander of a SWAT Team in this drama is awe-inspiring, and confirms Bai Jing Ting as a flexible wonderful actor. Looking like an adolescent, Bai Jing Ting may not possess the face that most consider as handsome, but oh boy, in uniform, his charisma is undeniable.

My Verdict
What a captivating drama this is. Many dialogues are light and funny, they even sound unscripted, spontaneous and natural. Many scenes make me laugh out loud, at the same time make me cry. The police scenes are nail biting and the medical emergencies are nerve cracking. Doctors and police officers are the toughest professions as they take a lot of courage and determination, passion and dedication to succeed. This drama shows in details the dedication portrayed by our characters. The romance is reciprocal with depth and understanding, and yet without compromising to each other’s professionalism.

Visually Ma Si Chun and Bai Jing Ting may not look like a perfect pair, but their chemistry is amazing and the couple and their courtship are definitely relatable to the viewers.

This drama makes me feel good and warm; it’s a story about life and death which walks within a fine line, and that the message of this amazing story.

TWO THUMBS UP!
