The movie is centered around five friends as they end up spending the summer of 1962 shackled up together in a tiny studio apartment in Tokyo. The five friends are Eisuke - the manga artist, Shoichi - the singer, Ryuzo - the novelist, Kei - the painter and Yuji - the 5th wheel (?). The friends spend the summer in pursuit of their own ideals of personal freedom - being able todo what they want. In the process of pursuing their dream they learn firsthand that however ideal it may seem, its not as easy as they think. -- Lunapark6

I watched this to knock it off my "Arashi" to watch list and it surprised as it isn't a genre that I would have normally picked.  A historical slice of life drama about one summer in a tiny apartment with five friends finding their way in life.  The difficulties of being an artist of any flavor and trying to find work if you don't conform to the norm of society is highlighted well in this.  The romance is low in this but it is there as a background plot line.

Glad I watched it, not sure I would re - watch it.

A great story in which you get closer to each character has the movie goes by with each of the artists hardships. The acting is good, even more when it comes to the relations between the characters. I especially love the light-old-jazzy music which perfectly fits with the movie's moods. If you are a fan of Arashi, you are bound to like this movie. If you are not a fan but you love historical mixed with slice of life and light humored movies, this one is for you !
