A cute love story with an amazing storyline and fabulous plot twists

Honestly I was quite hesitant at watching this drama. It first seemed very comical and gave me an impression that it'll just be another typical rom-com ( no hate on rom-coms I absolutely love them too) but this drama unexpectedly has a very good plot. The first half episodes are hilarious! I laughed a lot! And it might seem like the story goes a bit fast and there isn't much story plot there but in the second half the story gets very interesting and there are mind blowing plot twists. I loved how the women were portrayed as strong and intelligent they seemed like such good role models. Very inspiring female leads. I must say the acting is FANTASTIC literally especially the Female Lead her acting is just sooo good I absolutely freaking loved the cast! The music's not that attractive but suits the atmosphere of the drama very well. This is probably the longest review I've ever done but this drama was just soo good I had tons to say. Overall, fantastic drama and definitely worth watching all 24 episodes. You just need to wait patiently to get to the good part.

10/10 would recommend. Everything about this drama is amazing! the acting, the production and defoz the plot. It had the right amount of light romance and mystery and everything. Even though its meant to have comedy there were times I could feel tears in my eyes, this was due to the amazing acting and because of the great storyline. Every episode was worth watching, none of the episodes felt like a waste of time. Its been a while since I've enjoyed a historical Chinese drama without it feeling like it was dragging. would defiantly recommend this

A great light watch sprinkle with humour, witty script and memorable characters. It’s refreshing every now and then to watch a light Chinese drama. It’s not overly long -24 epi.

Yes there are moments of tears but the happiness outweighs the sad ones. Overall an easy watch!

The MC - FL is adorable, and cute. The main lead is kind of miscast. Would have liked to see a more charismatic actor in this role. He’s not too cute and not as handsome as the 2nd male lead.

The second leads couple is adorable. Love the different stories interwoven into the main plot.

Comedic. Intelligent plot. Loyalty. Fated love. Bromance

ADVISORY: Be Patient & You Will Be Rewarded
* * *
Honestly, i initially had a hard time immersing into the drama. I didnt like ML's attitude. Considered dropping but comments on MDL made me give it a 2nd thought, 2nd chance. Fastforward few episodes, i'm glad I stayed.

Wonderful things to enjoy:
- FL is intelligent with a happy demeanor, selfless, loyal and giving
- FL and ML have a special friendship, i regarded as the best foundation
- Identity swap and realisation does not drive a wedge in his trust and feelings for FL
- Uniquely ML acts coquettishly with FL aft he realises his feelings
- SML was funny with straight face and earnest expression delivering cheesy lines.
- Very comedic. Funny lines plentiful
- Love Love Love Father-son relationship. Vy diff from the norm
- Unique role reversals. FL use intelligence to help and even save ML
- ML and SML had a bickering rivalry turn bromance
- The ladies here are gems. FL and SFL both are the type to take initiatives.
- Love triangles. At diff times, diff sets of ppl but overall done well and considered important for both characthers and plot development
- Very intelligent plot.. mostly well thought out with elements of surprise and plottwist
- ML have a very good characther development. By ep 20 I was both very proud of the kind of man he has become and very moved by his actions. So be patient, you will fall in love with him if you havnt at the start.. like me.

Acting wise Im surprise to find another crop of young talented actors. All new to me but all left good impressions. Esther, Liu YiChang and the actors for SML and SFL all have great comedic timings. LYC was also very good at impactful scenes.

Intially i would rate it at 7.5 to 8 for the first arc..but then I didnt expect a light comedic drama to be able to hand out impactful and touching scenes which bumped it to 8.5. The last arc with such intelligent writing, the surprise and also the wrap up that was nicely paced..sealed this at 9.0. I really appreciated Ep 23 alot (the night before) which was so well thought out, answerimg all the emotional elements and was much needed ..so different from the usual rush ending we have in C dramas.

If you are unsure, i urge you to try.
If 1 episode couldnt rope you in, try a few more.
The story turns out to be like sands rubbing in an oyster turning into a pearl. And your time spent watching will be rewarded.

Drama you should watch

Amazing drama! I am someone who loves to watch light & fluffy drama and this is perfect for me. Started watching because of Esther Yu from Youth With You - Season 2 and stayed for the amazing plot & great acting by all the main and supporting characters, I was totally absorbed into the drama. The second lead couples will make you love them too. Another great thing about this drama is that, it does not have any annoying characters that you find them irrelevant and just want their character to disappear. This drama is very funny & addictive, so do not watch it if you are very busy. Couldn't get over this drama for quite some time, and repeated watching for a few times. All of its OST sounds freaking good, I've actually saved it on Spotify. 3 of out of the 4 main characters took part in singing the OST! Proving that the casts are extremely talented!

I’ve Fallen For This Show!

I’ve Fallen For You is one of the funniest shows that I’ve seen. In many historical dramas, the comedy can be a hit or miss, often suffering from lame, predictable tropes. The humor in this show far surpasses others. The jokes are actually hilarious and brilliantly executed. In fact, the show is arguably a satire on the historical drama genre itself!

From the beginning, the main characters are some of the oddest people. San Qi seems like a cute girl yet has a strange obsession with corpses. Zhao Cuo is some modern-day playboy who bullies others (and also gets bullied). We can already see distortions of the “cute” female lead and “heroic” male lead stereotypes. The secondary leads continue to defy CDrama norms: “Justice Face” Bai Yifei is actually empty-headed and “Princess” Ruo Yao is the least graceful lady. The show mainly shines because of these four lovable characters.

As the story progresses, the roles become even more interesting. Zhao Cuo has the best character development in the show. While he initially mistreats San Qi, he ends up liking her after receiving her help. Their friendship changes his personality and actions. Later on, we see even greater changes after his new discoveries. The actor Liu Yichang perfectly portrays Zhao Cuo. His comic timing for each joke is perfect, his facial expressions for emotional scenes are excellent, and his love for San Qi is convincing. I can’t wait to see Liu Yichang in other rom-coms.

The drama is fast-paced and doesn’t dwell on an event for too long. Exciting plot twists keep coming until the last episode. One downside of the drama is the lack of interactions between the main leads toward the end. The show could have been better with a few more episodes depicting the hilarious relationship between San Qi and Zhao Cuo. Plus, I wish for more development in San Qi’s character. While Zhao Cuo shows tremendous personal growth, San Qi doesn’t change nearly as much as him.

Overall, the show provides a unique twist to the classic “childhood crush” storyline. I applaud the director and cast for taking risks to mock elements of historical dramas. The best part of the show is that it doesn’t take itself seriously. The actors constantly break the fourth wall. They make fun of each other whenever possible. I highly recommend this drama to anyone looking for a good laugh.

*NOTE - IT MAY SEEM SLOW AT FIRST, BUT AFTER EPISODE 4, YOU WOULDN'T REGRET WATCHING THIS*

This was actually way better than I thought it would be. I went through the info so many times, and decided it wasn't worth it. But then I kept going back, until I started it and finished it within 24 hours ?. Its a truly weirdly unique drama, but give it a chance.

This was a truly funny, sweet and entertaining drama. I've never seen a comedy Chinese other than those old historical martial arts one from the 90's. This one was truly funny, so many wonderful and unique characters, I'm literally still smiling when I think about them as I write this.

The main couple had good chemistry and the second couple was just plain nyts ??, but in the funniest and unique way ever. The FL in this was great, her voice was a bit annoying but she wasn't, she did a great job with her role, solved soo many investigation and was truly smart and quick witted through the series, this show is nothing without her truly the amazing character. The ML was pretty good as well, I loved how much he loved the FL.

Other than the comedy, I truly love the story of this show, i love all the investigation scenes, it was very good, it was a great balance with the romance included as well. There were some truly sad moments, truly romantic and sweet moments as well, I really am happy that i watched this. The song/Ost is pretty good and the nursery rhyme was soo catchy

The only issue I had is that the ML needed to do a bit more to keep up with the FL, she outshined him by a lot, even at one point he secretly knows martial arts like really well, but didn't really use it, especially in a few scenes when he could have, idk... those parts were really weird, and the last part when he was sitting there, hmm.. i deducted from my rating because of that.

So, I do recommend this drama, if you're looking for something to watch that has beautiful romance, plot twist, serious moments with some good comedy, then give this a chance, I really don't regret watching this, I was left satisfied, that means that I enjoyed watching this simply but very entertaining show.

I like the comedy scenes of the drama!

Just as I wrote in this review headline, I really liked the comedy scenes of this drama and that's it. The thing that made me feel annoyed during this drama was Esther Yu's child-like, whiny voice. This is the reason why I don't watch any of her dramas (and try to avoid Chinese dramas that have any female characters with child-like, whiny voices), but this was the first time I had heard about her and I didn't watch any of her dramas before this one, so I didn't know how she sounded like when talking.

Otherwise, the ML's character was the best! He was not a cliche character at all and his comedy in even the serious scenes were what made this drama worth continuing watching.

Goofy & Chaotic Characters with satisfying Cases~!!

This drama made me laugh so much and had me contemplating whether I'll give it a comparably high rating or not.

It started really interesting and great but I find it irritating throughout the first 10 episodes because of how mean the ML is to the FL. Like, how can a guy treat a girl like that? not to mention how naive and kinda spiritless the 2nd ML is, that made me go "this is helpless". Thank god!, the FL is super interesting, funny and full of life so I never tried to drop it or what.

Another thing is that the first 10 episodes felt so dragging. I thought "This is just too much for a character introduction and story build up" but right after that the interesting Solving Cases happened and it's all good things after that.

Afterall, this is such a decent drama with satisfying cases and I love how they didn't halfass on that. One of the best thing on this drama aside from the dorky & chaotic characters. Hahahaha~

Story - 9.0, I wanna give it a higher rating because I like it a lot as a whole but this rating just felt so right. There's a lot of questionable scenes on this drama and I felt like those were simply crazy and sometimes unbearable. Nonetheles this is pretty good and the story was able to pick up it's pace after the first 10 episodes.

Acting/Cast - 10, The cast and their acting is exceptional. I love how natural they're and their reaction felt so real and truly complements each of their scenes perfectly. --- P.S. I felt like this could've been better if they use their own voice. Damn chinese dubbing. This is the first time I had some issues with it. (Not that the dubbing here is bad but I feel like it will be more fun to hear their real voice saying those lines).

Music - 10, I truly love the Music in this drama. I always feel swayed and comfortable whenever they're playing. I even have it on my spotify playlist now. Love it a lot. <3

Rewatch Value - 9.5, I would probably try to skip some scenes during the first 10 episodes but right after that the scenes were simply good. It deserves more love, attention and support.

Overall - 9.0, Afterall this drama still satisfies and entertained me so much and I can never wrong it, one way or another. This drama will forever be remembered for it's dorky sides and lovely characters. Sending my love and support to the people behind this production.

Historical Rom-com to see as pure entertainment.

A clever "gift from heaven" FL, who mistakenly marries a young, not-serious aristocrat, to escape another arranged marriage.

The actors are excellent and bring this story to life (a little "dramaland" and not always subtle) with a lot of talent.
The ML is particularlyendearing, intrepid, insolent, courageous and devoted to his beloved.
LF, annoying with its childish behavior, can be intelligent and resourceful.

OSTs are of good quality.
The whole is well filmed, well framed, even if sometimes we feel the low-budget in the action scenes.

A good mix of romance, humor, action and intrigue.

Hilarious antics, heartwarming relationships, romance, investigation, intrigue and conspiracy

It was an enjoyable ride. This is a show that sometimes defies logic, but it's actually more realistic compared to other historical dramas out there. So here's my thoughts (contains heavy spoilers).

Story/Plot. The story begins with our bright and sunny FL, San Qi (SQ), who was decreed by the Lord (I guess this is equivalent to Emperor?) to marry the young Lord (Crown Prince?). But SQ had a childhood sweetheart whom she promised to marry, so while en route to the capital for her wedding, she escaped and met a bride, Jin Xin who didn't want to get married as well. As fate would have it, the man JX was supposed to marry is the son of the Northern magistrate, whom SQ believed was her childhood sweetheart. And so, she volunteered to be the substitute bride. And that's how our adorable couple began their marriage life and basically the soul of the story. However, this is not only just a romance-driven story, it also contains investigation and conspiracy. 1/3 of the story is more of the adorable childish banter between our couple. 2/3 is about solving crimes. The rest was the unfolding of the conspiracy involving the royal family. So basically, the plot is all over the place, however, it was actually contained and executed well. The drive of the villains for doing evil things were always one dimensional, so there is nothing to say there. Even the big villain is the same, so it's a little disappointing. But like I said, if I compare to other dramas, this is so much better.

Acting/Characters. Not excellent, but great. Everyone did their best, and even the emotional scenes of both FL and ML were believable. There weren't any over the top acting as well, except when needed. I loved the supporting characters, my favorite being the ML's dad. He's funny af. Also, I loved seeing their father and son interaction. They make me giggle every-time they act out something. Also, Jinyan was also cool. She's a woman who wanted freedom. Being confined in the palace all her life, she is thirsty of adventure. ML is a happy-go-lucky youth that didn't have any character development all throughout the show, but he's funny. Well, not just him, everyone didn't have any character development, so yeah. But then again, like I said, this is a drama not to be taken at face value. Just enjoy the funny moments.

There were so much to say because a lot of things happened, but I won't narrate the entire story, otherwise, what would be the point? What I can say is, give this show a chance.

Underrated af

This drama is super cute and interesting. People aren't talking about it enough tbh. The cast have amazing chemistry which makes the drama so enjoyable. Not only that, the main female lead is super likable. Her character is perfect in my opinion, there's nothing to hate on her about. To add on to it, the drama is super funny too. There are a bunch of jokes that makes you laugh your ass off, but there are moments that makes you cry like crazy. 100% would recommend, this drama deserves more attention.
