Story- This plot gives us the right view of the current society and the value of self awareness. the representation of the two boys with different goals and views to meet and lash with misunderstanding. Which later leads into their up coming and the beautiful reality. And do i recommend you to watch this?
Yes, its a beautiful story but YOU should be emotionally strong.

Acting/Cast- The acting was on point, their emotions , their gestures , their expressions and everything.the cast displayed it all perfectly. Billkin and PP did their best and they did amazing. Also the plot setting was a plus point to all the feeling it gave out, the perfect mood for the situation.

Music- The OSTs are basically AMAZING. Especially 'Skyline' even though its a very heart breaking (i still listen to it) the lyrics have a beautiful meaning. The usage of the Chinese language creates a very refreshing attitude.

Re watch ? I would say no but also yes because it was an emotional ride and heart breaking at times.and yes just because it just gives you all the feels

I can not describe how thankful and how happy i am to have seen this series. these are 5 episode but the most complete and amazing BL series even best drama I have ever watch and I cry, i laugh and all the feeling i can have when i watch this series. I can not tell you how i am feeling now. I can jot just say thank you enough for all your hard work. All paid off and you set new standard for the BL series. everything about this drama left me breathless and in awe. p’boss is a genius. simply put. and to find out that he himself identifies as part of the community makes the project feel so much more meaningful and genuine. i really just want to praise and thank him and everyone else on the team who worked tirelessly to help itsay become something so beautiful. i thought i knew what i was getting myself into emotionally when i first watched the trailer/teaser but god was i clueless. something among the many things that i appreciate/d about the series is that the “main” side characters (tarn & bas) were written in a way that i don’t think we’ve seen a lot .. both wonderful people i was rooting for throughout the episodes even when what i wanted the most was for teh and ohaew to be together i still loved them and cared for them and i hope that maybe in part two we’ll see them with a significant other who wholeheartedly loves them as well because they both deserve it so so much. and p’hoon ... he was there for teh when he felt like he had no one left to lean on and there were so many other scenes where you could tell how deeply he cares for his younger brother. p’hoon is hope. that there will always be at least one person who will understand you accept you support you or at the very least listen to your worries and give you a shoulder to cry on. was i worried that itsay would end up breaking my heart? yes absolutely and it did many many times but in the end what we got was love and a warm hug in front of the sunset and a promise to see each other again during the spring. and honestly what more could anyone have wished for. i know i will be there.

I'm not a fan of BL series but damn, Nadao hit me hard.

To begin with, I'm a big fan of Nadao dramas like In Family We Trust, Project S: The Series, and my all-time favorite series; Hormones. Nadao rarely produce dramas, like, twice to thrice a year but when they do, they just finesse it.

I started ITSAY with mediocre standards, because again I'm not a big fan of BL but I remember waiting for it even before the title was revealed.

The story is not for people who like steamy scenes, unrealistic situations, and fast-paced. Nadao managed to make a series so damn beautiful in just 5 episodes. The story is very inclined to reality, the way it focuses on different types of relationships, the different struggles between bonds, and the questioning of one's sexuality; everything about this drama screams realistic.

To be fair, the cast seems unfamiliar except for the main lead but I was amazed on how well they acted despite not knowing them especially the ones who played Bas and Tarn, the acting is not perfect for me because there were some scenes I was bothered by the executions but nevertheless, it's near perfection.

The OSTs just hit different, even if I can't understand the words, I can feel the emotions it's trying to convey and it's been on repeat in my Spotify's Playlist lol. The fact that Billkin was actually the one who sang Skyline just shows how versatile of an actor he is.


The moment this series came out, I started watching it, I suffered through cliffhangers and week-long questions but I'm not regretting it, this series might be one of the best series I've seen so far. This series was worth it.

Fun-fact: Teh's scenes with his mom were the most tear-jerker for me, their scenes are just so raw I can't stop my eyes from bawling.

A masterpiece

This is my first review, but I felt compelled to write one after watching this series. It's hard to find the words to describe this work, but I'll try my best.

I'll start with the TLDR because this review will be me rambling about how good this series is: this is a true love letter to the lgbt+ community, with such insight and nuance, masterful cinematography, acting, soundtrack, storytelling and a true must see. Not only if you're a BL fan, but also if you're a cinema fan in general as the execution is at the level of "international cinema" and I could see this winning awards at festivals. Nadao wasn't playing and nothing was left to chance. This goes beyond the genre. An unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after watching.


Story and writing:

The story by itself is one we've seen before and simple at first sight: two boys who are childhood friends reunite and discover and navigate through their newfound feelings for each other. The reason I give the story 10 stars is that this series stands out is the masterful way in which is this simple and everyday coming of age story is written.The characters are written with such depth and nuance. The dialogues are so natural. This series is full of symbolisms. Actually if you go to the comment section of this series, you'll see us writing and writing about all these details. Everything intertwines perfectly. Something that is refreshing too is how the supporting characters are written in a good balance that adds more to the series and balances perfectly with the main characters.

The story is focused on the two boys who at some point have a girl and a boy romantically interested in each one of them. However this story has no antagonists in which these secondary love interests are written in such a real way that we end up sympathizing with them. For once we have a girl in a BL properly written and not a villain or used as plot device. The only antagonists here are the inner battles of the protagonists which are depicted in such real and raw way.

Another aspect of the story that I found interesting is how they included Chinese in this series. The protagonists are studying Chinese and the words and symbols are a constant in the series, adding another layer to it.

The series has only 5 episodes (it will have a part 2 though) and in these 5 episodes you get deep knowledge of these characters, a well paced story where no scene goes to waste. This is a masterclass in script writing.

Get your tissues ready but also get ready to smile, to relate, to fall in love with the characters, to really get attached to them. I for one can't let go of them. This was written by people who have empathy and knowledge of the struggles of the lgbt+ community and want to show them to the world and make the people in the community feel seen and understood and people outside of it to understand and empathize.

Cinematography and other technical aspects:

This is one of the aspects that this series shines. Every shot is intentional. and well balanced. The photography is out of this world and each scene so beautiful it hurts. Almost every scene deserves a screenshot for how well is composed. The color pallet in yellows and warm tones gives a nostalgic feel to it making it seem that the series takes place decades ago while taking place in the modern era. Phuket, the place where it takes place is shown beautiful. I also want to praise the styling, make up and air department for making the characters truly look their age and so natural. I can't point any technical flaws.

This is a "show don't tell" type of series and the way it's executed... chief kiss. There are symbols, color being used to depict how the characters feel and how they stand it that moment and details that blend so well in the story while still requiring an attentive eye to catch them all.

Please watch the behind the scenes documentaries once you're done as the director P'Boss will guide you through the technical aspects of it and how it was done.

Acting:

This is the highlight of this show. If I could give a 100 stars I would. This series was written for Billkin and PP and it shows. Their acting is so powerful, nuanced, poingnant, mature but still retaining the natural immaturity of these teenagers. We get to feel all their emotions even in the scenes where there are no words. Billkin and PP at such young age and with the masterful directing of P'Boss went where most actors in this genre don't go, offering us a performance worthy of all the awards. At some points it felt so real and raw I had to take a pause to compose myself. I had never seen something like this in Thai BL. I would say this was probably some of the best acting I've seen in any series of any kind in the past few years or more, that's how good it was. Billkin and PP's chemistry is out of this world too! Keep an eye on these boys, they will go places!

The supporting cast also does an incredible job: the group of friends though shown as a background is so natural and fits perfectly. And the 2 secondary love interests I mentioned before, interpreted by Khunpol and Smile give a stellar performance in the few scenes they're in. They might not have many scenes but you'll also feel everything they feel.

Music and Soundrack:

Another masterpiece that added so much to this series! The OST of this series is fabulous and it adds so much with it. The lyrics portray what the characters are going through and I always cry when I listen to the Skyline song. This song has a version interpreted by Billkin and another one in Chinese interpreted by PP. All the versions of this song are true works of art. We also have 2 other songs sang by Billkin. Not only are they phenomenal actors but singers too! The soundtrack in this series is never overbearing or out of place, instead gets us more involved in the story and works as an aid to portray what these characters are going through.

Rewatch value:

As I mentioned before this series is full of details that you might not catch on a first watch, so I'll be rewatching for sure. The comment section of this series is full of commentators dissecting every aspect of it as nothing is left to chance in this series. Also there were some scenes that were so breathtakingly beautiful that I'll be rewatching for sure.


I want to thank the actors, cast and crew for all the thought and effort they put into this and for the powerful message this series has. One of my favorite series (BL or not BL), I'm still blown away.

A childhood story with a different feeling

Tbh, I watched many BL series and a lot of them were high quality (like Until we meet again) but I think this series has a very different feeling from all the BL series, that I have watched so far. It is intense in a way that is breathtaking. The intimate scenes in this series are special and beautifully shooted. During some parts you hold on your breath and don't want to make a single noise as you forget where you are. I totally understand the high rating of this series and I want to add another one!
This series did something to me, that no other BL did. I don't really know how to describe these with words, but just watch it and you may understand what I mean.
There is no staged drama or something like that, this feels so real and normal like someone would tell me his story from his childhood.
Just wow - for me it is a masterpiece.

PHENOMENAL

I don't even know where to start... I'd like to thank the producers, the actors and everyone who worked on this show. To me, everything was perfect from the beggining until the end, I can't even find a negative point.
The acting, the ost, the production, the plot, decorations... every single detail was meaningful and well thaugt. That's the best series that I have ever seen. It made me feel so many emotion, a real rollercoaster.
I think that every person that likes BL shows (it's even above BL's)MUST watched this one. I don't see a series that can outclass this one, it will be a very hard work...
I don't even know what to say because I could write an essay about it... So just thank you for this amazing journey...

Overall perfect

The title says it all - I love everything about this series: acting, music, cinematography, chemistry, feelings (oh, so many feelings! My poor heart). I cried during every single episode.
It's not your classic BL - there's no BL cliches in the series (I mean cliché stuff like "oh no, we fell onto each other and accidentally kissed" etc). It all feels very natural. There are no awkward situations that feel forced.
The actors even have ugly crying scenes, which is nice because people just don't look beautiful when crying.
You're definitely missing out if you don't watch this series.

Story - 10/10

They showed in the drama about friendship and a true friend, a loving, caring, and supportive family. That whatever your decision in life will be, they are there to understand, protect, and believe in you. How powerful a love is, that you can give up and let go everything.
You will need to believe in your feelings and trust yourself, be confident with what you are, because at the end of the story true love will lead you back.
Lastly the cinematography is totally speechless and amazing! ❤️❣️❤️

Acting/Cast - 12/10

The chemistry is Superb!
Especially the acting skills of Billkin (TEH) is extraordinary, exceptional, genuine and very sincere...

First of all i want to aplogize that my english isn't good for this review. But i will try
Okay. This story tells about boys who is very ambitious for going to their favorite university or in indonesia they called it as a 'ngambis', they start rivalry since in the middle school because oh.taw got selected as a theaterical player which his role that oh.taw gonna play is teh's most favorite character. along with the show oh.tae started to realize his dream, he wants to be an actor like teh. when oh.taw told to teh about his dream, teh didn't like it. he accused that oh.tae accepted the role was for defeating him. This is where the conflict was begun.

Second, i really amazed with the cinematography that 'I Told Sunset About You' has. It is soooooo enticing. The way the camera shoot the coconut trees, the beach, etc by its angle wow it's very precise. When i watched ITSAY my minds strolling around and keep thingking 'ah well it reminds me with something.'. and it turns out to 'Call Me By Your Name' because both of them having 'summer love' vibes. and of course the beach! ITSAY also elevate 'feelings' as their 'soul' of this series, something rare that i've met in thai bl series.

Third, the acting of the main actors some of parts are on the point. when they having skinship is their top notch, i got their vibration by seeing them leaning, hugging, and kissing each other. its like the art of seduction lol. other than that, the music is good, bgm is very supportive of the atmospher/scene.

Fourth, i think in the beginning of the story and in the end is typical bl story dramas. in the middle around ep 3 & 4 are the climax of ITSAY, and those the alluring episodes to me. aside of main leads skinship acting, the rest of their acting are usual, and also the chemistry is just fine.

Ps. I edited my rating after i watched their documentary, they worked hard for this project T.T and because tbh i can not get over this series. and got me hooked with BKPP.

A masterpiece needed to be watched by everyone

As title stated, regardless if you like BL or not, this is a must see drama.
Not only it is well made, cinographically, but the cast's acting, music and everything is utterly top notch.

At first, on first episode I was a bit skeptical, it is not quite the regular Thai-drama nor regular BL-drama for that matter. It is, despite portraiting young people in their late High school year, a very mature production with a delicate and poetic way to showcase sensitive topic as self-love, identity crisis and personal growth.

I told Sunset about you gives you a strong rollercoaster trip of emotions from happiness, friendship, love, desire, lust, despair, sadness, anger and probrably much more.

The director's meticulous style, shines through as there is little to ask for in matter of details and poetism.
From music, to angles, to scenery and location, not to mention acting details demanded by the actors.
To our utterly delight Billkin, Krit and Smile really delivers.

In my humble opinion, it is easy to portrait desire as such but actual youth lust (without it becoming pornographic) is really hard, which Billkin and Krit slayed. It sucked me in so deep I barely blinked.
I honestly felt traumatized even (ep3).

You cannot deny this being not just 2020 top, if not the best series, but I'd even go that far that say it was one of the best drama Ive watched past decade.


However, it does not recieve a 10/10 for 2 reasons:
1. The last 2 episodes felt rushed. I mean, I feel great respect (especially if you watch the documentary) how well they did producing the series, but it doesnt excuse poor execution. Acting was good all the way, but production relaxed abit in ep4 and in ep5 even more.
2. The last episode and the ending was frustrating.
Some may think it was a happy ending and all but, considering how real, honest, on point and even realistic up to ep3, ep5 just went..whaaat?
It the scenography wasnt so beautiful, if the acting wasnt so breathtaking, I believe a lot of people would not think highly of the series as must of us did.

So in short, the ending felt short in the scriptstory. From realistic to wimsy nonsense even.
The promise of a season 2 is joyous but I guess we will actually wait and see if they will succed to match season 1.


Lastly, an important not that also makes this a wonderful drama to watch: THEY DID NOT WRECKED the female character!!!! This alone almost deserves an Oscar!
They had a HEALTHY YOUNG WOMAN that wasnt a wacko, dramaqueen or evil bitch. She was just an awesome adolecent! Hooray!
