Believe the HONG sisters have got a hit with casting, script and story. At the heart of this not a romance, horror and drama, they were aiming at the societal fear of different, bi-polar, or PTSD. So far have enjoyed all the innuendo layered between the funny lines or scary moments. The two leads have GREAT chemistry playing off each other to keep the scenes/moments enjoyable. Thinking this series will insert something new (much like Good Doctor) into the mainstream melodramas.

This is the first drama that had me in fear and also curiousity. At first I thought this will certainly be more of a comedy to me instead of ghost fearing drama. But during the first few minutes, I had already felt the fear of ghost existence around there. With the sound of the thunder and the atmosphere of the whole dark venue, I admit it it was awesome!

However, this drama drag me in it and I am very curious what is going to happen. With this fresh written romantic- comedy ghost drama, I am having anticipation of it and I think I will not get bored of it.

Overall I think that GHJ's and SJS's acting is a wow to me as this is the first time I ever saw them act. Overall I think this will be a good drama.( This is my first time reviewing a drama so I don't know how to, I am just trying it out^^)

PS: The ghosts in it are really scary.

It is, i admit, funny. And the light ambiance is the only reason I keep watching Master's Sun. Seeing that "who are you" and this drama used the same concept of the main character being able to see ghosts, it surprises me how master's sun keeps getting more and more absurd, and not at all scary.
Well, that is MY point of view, because i don't really like Gong shil's character...she should have been used to seeing ghosts after all these years but no she keeps creeping out like a crazy lady, and clings on to Joong won even when ghosts aren't around.
The humour makes the drama more bearable...and of course Kang woo :)
I guess I will give the drama 2-more-episode chance, if you are anything like me, you would be desperately waiting for 2-weeks' or who are you's next episode.

Another hit with my fav, So Ji-Sub! One of the main things I enjoy about "The Master's Sun" is its unique storyline! It offers a perfect balance of suspense, romance, and humor. The chemistry between the lead characters draws you into their world and makes you root for them as their relationship begins to blossom.
The incorporation of supernatural elements also is interesting and adds an exciting twist to the traditional romantic drama genre. Overall, it's a stand out series and a must-watch for anyone looking for a refreshing and engaging series that will evoke a range of emotions.

supernatural justice!

What if, instead of 3 ghosts at Christmas, multiple ghosts over months harrassed a rich guy in the most annoying way to get him to pay his employees and make real social change? romance is whatever and the acting is great, but I love how they used ghosts and a low income woman to force a rich, spoiled, (admittedly traumatized) guy to see how he really has the resources to effect change that makes society better. the only reason it’s not 10 stars is the way they forced the romance at the end.

This show was amazing! One of my top two favorites( the other being my love from the star). What really made it good was the chemistry between the two main actors. I especially liked the hugs :) i want hugs like Gong Shil got.
Tae Gong Shil is such an awesome female lead :3 The OST was also really good, there are some good sad/dramatic piano pieces without words in them that make every scene intense, and the song "Touch Love" is still stuck in my head.
"would rewatch again?" haha you mean can i stop rewatching this because it is so good

Another FRUSTRATING K-Drama

It has it's moments but all of them are in sub-plots because the main plot is absolute ASS. I hate you, I love you, I hate you, I love you. Dog these people are 30 years old. GET OVER YOURSELVES. Also the romance was forced as hell. Kang Woo was literally the only likeable character. AT ALL. I felt more for the random ghost sitting on the mall chair than any of the main leads. I seriously cannot stand a story like this that could have been good if they made it 12 episodes and had more chemistry between the leads.

my take? there's worse out there, but that doesn't make this good. it's just not compelling, mostly because of bad chemistry (writing) and awful pacing (as usual). By the last 5 episodes i literally DID NOT CARE. about anything, really. if your readers or viewers are basically begging you to get on with it and end it you have a BAD STORY.

A great drama from an emotional standpoint if you can hang in there for the first few episodes. A proper chaebol/CEO story combined with ghosts in and out of a shopping mall (sounds good doesn't it?) and a disheveled psychic who is utterly terrorized by said ghosts.

Gong Hyo Jin is creepier than the ghosts to start off with, and the CEO constantly saves her even though he wants nothing to do with her. Do not watch just after The Greatest Love -- the pairing only superficially resembles those fabulous characters.

The script and soundtrack are more powerful than Gong Hyo Jin's admitted acting skill and the charm of Jo Si Seob (he went onto success as a romantic lead after this). The revelations of their slow and prickly romance are fueled by another of those complicated structures of allusion and jokes which the HS can produce. They can be frustrating to guess at from the subtitles.

A total guess on my part, but most of the subtitles appear to be so literal (i.e.close to the meanings of individual words in Korean) that I think the translators decided to try to give a taste of the verbal humor and play that way, throwing caution and pronouns to the winds.

Physical touch/sexual attraction and the psychic invisible phenomena are the concepts which are constantly played with. The two words are"sound-alikes" in Korean, hehe. The pair discusses invisibility as part of selfishness -- she was so needy she couldn't "see" him...he is stuck in a mirroring past experience and couldnt see her real self.

The title Masters Sun and her name Tae (means sun) refer to another set of metaphors -- she is a shining light (sun) to ghosts in their world, so they flock to her like moths, but in the outer world which she fears, she is a darker light.

The attraction of total opposites is compared to a children's fable about a wolf and a goat. It sounds enough like Aesop that the viewer is quite worried about how it will all end. In that story the lamb tries to escape through fancy talk but the wolf cuts in with realpolitick and eats her/him.

There is a reference to a "Candy" -- The CEO calls Seo InGuk charater "Candy Kang" with great relish -- but is the bodyguard really a gender-reversed Cinderella character?

Anyway, the HS always create instantly recognizable characters, and all the supporting actors in Masters Sun were genius. The romantic pair in each of the HS shows always have over-determined motivations, allowing for lots of audience interpretation.

The HS scripts seem to always catch the top of the wave generically, and each show is still distinct from all the others. This was the last of the annual productions they had kept up with since 2005. Thereaftertheir scripts are produced every other year more or less.

2015, '17/18, '22 and soon '25/26. Cant wait.

I will just first start off that this entire drama is 100000/100000.

One of my most favorite kdramas ever, So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin are the best duo ever
and my OTP <3 I recommend this drama to everyone even though there are some scary moments
but it is definitely worth it. The story line and the entire cast and even the Ost is amazing.

I cried my eyes out so much in this drama to the point I never wanted it to end. The plot line
is just mind blowing and amazing.

Nothing beats this drama in this category in my opinion ^^

OMG, so much to say about The Master's sun, Firs of all I have to say that after watching episode 1 I stopped watching because I wasn't getting the ghosts and their stories. And also because I thought it will be some kind of episodic ghost until the very end. But after some months I gave this drama another chance, and I'm very glad I did it. Of course at the beginning in order to get our OTP together they have the episodic ghosts, but after that is game on!! Also watching Ji Suh doing this kind of character was awesome, I have only seen him in heavy dramas such as I'm sorry I love you and Cain and Abel, but here he was so cute, that after watching this I had to re watched MISA and also watched Oh my Venus!

I think the casting for his drama fit perfectly and there is so much cuteness at the final episodes that you better be prepared for all that.

Highly recommend this drama please do watch!
