One Of The Best BL Stories I've Seen

I thought at first I wouldn't be satisfied with the show with just how short the story is but I was sorely mistaken. This has brought me a lot of feels that even 12 episodes of some series couldn't.

The story even managed to bring in some of the social issues gay relationships face today and how it intersects with family dynamics while also bringing up the fact that people are steadily breaking away from this norm. There are a few things that we could nitpick for sure, but for a show as short as it is, they have done a very good job in delivering solid emotions in a short amount of time.

This, truly, is a beautiful masterpiece! I LOVED IT!

Breathtakingly beautiful and honestly almost perfect

This is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. I loved the show, but this film gives us more breathing room and time to spend getting to know the characters - to see how time changes them and their relationship.
This isn't your typical BL stuffed with fanservice, and in fact I would argue that this isn't BL at all. Instead it's a gorgeously filmed, exquisitely written, and flawlessly acted film that celebrates the existence and resilience of LGBTQ+ folks, which caused me to ugly-cry at more than one place in the film. The characters aren't caricatures - they're written to be real people who are meant to be together and who fight to be together - sometimes fighting themselves and their preconceived notions of what "normal" is.

Nothing special, but so special.

There's nothing much to say about the movie since I already reviewed the TV series not long ago. It is the exact same story with just a tiny little extra content. A little surprise treat. Mind you, this version made me cry at the end.

More than talking about the story, I wanna talk about whoever the hell was the director and people editing this entire series because they did an excellent job. Every single scene flows so beautifully, it feels kind of immaculate. The storytelling through visual imagery had a lot of thought put into it allowing the viewers to immerse themselves in the world of the movie.

Looking back, there's not even a moment where I felt lost and I think it is because the story is simple and clear to understand. Even though the movie had extra scenes of content, it did not mean that the series was confusing either because something was missing and I like that. The extra content was truly, like I said earlier, a treat. It was like a gift to those who enjoyed the series.

Now, mind you, I did cry at the end of the movie. There's something about that specific type of scene that for some reason makes me tear up. It is a cliche scene but it always makes the same strong impact. It was truly beautiful.

Who can truly say what is normal? This movie shows you that every single human being has a different answer.

I could not recommend this enough. Watch the series first and then come and watch the movie for that well deserved extra content. This title is definitely up there on my list of best BL/LGBTQ+ works.

ruin my life in the best way possible

i just want to scream to the world to fucking watch this. the original drama is already amazing, but the director's cut is even much better (if that even possible)

the relationship between main leads are so adorable!! i love how we get to see their progress from being complete strangers meeting in the street to being lovers and as they get older, the more complicated the conflict, and i love how we get to see each of them.

this drama offer us fluffy stories, but also shows us the internal struggle queer people need to face. i found myself crying in some scenes because i relate with the struggle a lot.

the ending is perfect. one that makes me want to jump off the cliff. and i said this as a compliment.

some other parts i want to comment:
(+) perfect casting. the actors did a very amazing job
(+) perfect soundtrack

Another important to watch BL!

My expectations were pretty low but what a surprise it was ! The plot was simble and refreshing, if you want to watch something heartwarming and yet anchored in reality, this is your show !

STORY :
I think the director managed to portray an LGBTQ relationship in a very realistic manner. Even though it was a less than 2 hours movie, the relationship and the story didn't felt rushed at all. While I think the beginning could have been slightly longer, I loved how most of the movie is around their relationship through the years, we don't see enough in the BL industry. One of the element I appreciated the most was how they used the metaphor of the line (like in the title) throughout the film !
Yuuki is truly a ray of sunshine and it was very interesting to see him grow and mature while retaining his unique character.
Regarding Akira.... I think he was the most relatable character, I could really empathise with everythinf he felt and went through even when i didn't agree with his actions.
+ bonus point for the side story of Akira's sister, we need more female character like her !

ACTING :
Everyone did a good job, I think i could relate to Akira that much because of how great the actor played his charcter. The couple wasn't awkward at all and had great chemistry in my opinion.

Overall, this movie/mini-serie is among the best Japanese BL not only for the BL plot but the overall story of growing up and facing new struggles was flawless !

what the hell just happened to me ?

OMG , this was so cute in a way that I cannot describe.
A love so pure it almost felt like I was violating their privacy watching this.
The actors did an amazing job.

I'm not one to cry easely watching movies, sometimes I might shed a tear or 2. Reading the comments of people saying they cried so much I was like "Meh, probably not that bad".

I dindn't cry when he left Yuki.
I didn't cry when they got back together.
I didn't cry when I saw the cameo of HIStory : Make our days count (this series broke me in a way I'll never recover from).
I didn't cry when I saw that beautiful scene when the mom finally accepted her son and his partner relationship (this type of thing usually make me emotional)
I didn't cry during the beautiful montage of them growing old together.

That scene with the rings ... I LOST IT. I started sobbing like my life depended on it. In fact, I'm writing this review with so much tears in my eyes I can barely see my screen.

I cannot in good contience rate this movie very high on "rewatch value" because I'm never watching it again. I can't do this to myself again.

Fuck, I still can't stop crying. Somebody help me.
I'm going to rewatch Business Proposal so that I can gain my sanity back.

Bisous

Love this movie. It made me realize. Its not the achievement and awards that made me happy in this life. I'm just a bypasser and soon will be gone. Finding the right person and enjoying life with friends, family, and the person you love is the greatest reward imaginable.
Thank you so much for such a great movie and for hitting the right spot in my heart. It is indeed a geat movie that depicts real life scenario of falling in love with the same gender. Hopefully someday, I will have the chance to experience such a great love.

An absolute emotional rollercoaster!

[[Pls note that english isn't my first language so there might be spelling or grammatical mistakes]]
Honestly when i saw the trailer on rakuten viki I at first wasn't to invested and i started the drama as background noise for drawing. But holy cow i got so invested i couldn't focus on drawing no more! The story is absolutely gorgeous and real that it isn't normal no more. As a part of the LGBTQA+ i can relate to this it's written realistically. The way the two main characters meet is adorable and how they fell apart of the fear of what others might think of them is such a real life problem that many, many people of the LGBTQA+ and me can relate to. The ending fully flashed me and made me cry so extremely hard and the way they always find to each other even after their live has been over is beautiful! I can only recommend this drama it's absolutely gorgeous. The actors did a gorgeous job of acting it felt natural and very organic. I am impressed by this drama that's why i decided to write a Review I'm not a professional in any way but i hope this Review still was helpful to some or that there are people out there who can agree :)

Beautiful

I had watched the drama version before realizing there were extra scenes and going back to watch those. It's only about 10 minutes more but WOW, this cut added a bunch of scenes I had been craving and wrapped up a few loose ends. I'd definitely recommend just watching this instead of the drama.

All that aside, however, wow. This was just beautiful and it had stole my heart from the beginning. 10 minutes in and I was sold. The chemistry between the leads, the little bits of nervousness and secrecy — it was all done so well.

The second half got a little cliche (The director's cut does explain it better than the drama does) but even though it had a twist I didn't love, I felt like it was understandable and it made the later climaxes worth it. Would definitely recommend this, it's going to give me a hangover for a week.

The OST was great too, especially a really nice beach scene with a song called Don't Turn Away by 5 Alarm!

A complete satisfying BL movie ever!

First of all, I haven't ever watched Senjou no Bokura (mini series). So I don't have other thing to compare.
But, alas, this movie is undoubtedly incredible. Beg my pardon, I think this movie is just low-budget low-quality underrated movie that no one suggests me to watch it, but now … I will let this movie director and producer to slap me on my face at the same time if I ever said that again. I don't exaggerate it.

This movie is a whole thing you can comprehend as a gays or fujoshis. There are sadness, cry, anxiety, confusion, pride, happiness, laughter, acceptance, and amazement in one package. You will not be overwhelmed by the plot or the flow, but you will not yawn in boredom too. Everything is sequentially organized at right time and right place. This movie illustrates enough the reality of gay struggle in this decade. You will find yourself relate to any of character's aspect. No one's doing good, but no one's wrong either. More or less, it can widen your perspective.

STORY
This movie delivers very great story. Characters get quite few background stories but those few are the most important. Like I said, we can relate to the story, characters, and events. All in the movie can happen too realistically. It begins with itty-bitty event that seems not particular, grows to love roller coaster, and finally faces the conflicts and climax.

ACTING/CAST
Main leads are impressive. Shirasu Jin portrayal of Itou's burdens pretty good, as well as Itou's lust. Nishi's cuteness and innocence are clearly showed too by Raiku's performance. I have no problem at all in the cast selection.

MUSIC
Firstly I thought that this movie will use fully Japanese songs. All the musics always enhance the emotion conveyed in the scenes. They are catchy too. Music department is worthy enough to get salary raise.

REWATCH VALUE
Umm, I think I must end my review. I will watch this movie again. You can join me. *wink*

A Solid 10

It's been quite a while since I saw the series and I honestly can't recall what score I gave it, but having watched the Director's Cut with only a partial recall of the plot I found it highly enjoyable. Like most BL dramas this remains primarily a bromance relationship, but I'm fine with that. I find graphic, simulated sex scenes (same or opposite sex) are unnecessary and often cringeworthy. There is a brief and romantic bed scene at the end, which I think is new. It's tastefully done and appropriate for the story. What earns a Solid 10 is the unusual ending. We have a brief montage of Akira and Yuuki's happy bromance from 39 to 40, then we fast forward to age 82 where a patient named Yuuki Itou is in the hospital. He has 2 rings, so we know one partner has already passed, but the inference is it wasn't so long ago that the survivor moved on and forgot about him. I say this is unusual because same-sex relationships tend to be portrayed as something that won't last. And this ties up the metaphor of connecting the dots (Akira and Yuuki) and following life's path to the end of the line. It's not clear from the patient name which one survived to the end, but apparently it's Yuuki who took Akira's Surname. Maybe someone else can clarify. That being the case, it's not in keeping with the promise Akira made not to leave Yuuki ever again (also Akira is the main character), so maybe I got it backwards. But that's just a minor complaint. I hope this is released on BluRay because it's a keeper for repeat viewings. Well done!
