I somehow got myself to watching this, and it was NOT what I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be all sci-fi and strange alien-human interaction, but I WAS SO WRONG. I literally went on a marathon and finished this in 2 days.
From the beginning, the pace was perfect as it established Do Min Joon as someone who planned to leave Earth with no feelings, but through meeting Cheon Song Yi, he changes his mind. Their love is almost like a fantasy, but so real because of Do Min Joon's longing to stay with her. Seriously, their love was the sweetest thing ever.
I love how there was always random hilarious moments, especially the first half of the drama. By the second half of the drama, I was literally sobbing every episode, but that's not a bad thing. The producers really know how to get at your feelings.
The ending, I won't spoil it, I had no problem with. The plot line got me hooked to the very last second and I never felt like I could predict anything.
The killer aspect was amazing and actually contributed a lot to multiple character developments.
I tend give all 10's when I love a drama this much, so....biased ratings maybe? Lol

I have to say that, although I really like the plot, the later 5-7 episodes kinda drag. And kinda cliched. Sorry but that's the truth. Dramas often start with trying to make the audience like the characters, and when the audience already like the characters, they portray them less and just focuses on the cliched elements such as people splitting apart or are going to split apart. I wish that the characters can still retain their charisma even till the end, but yeah, dramas generally don't do that.

I loved the story, was well written and it was so much fun to watch and i must confess if they had another ending in mind than the one they actually gave to the show, it would have ruined the whole thing for me and made it impossible to even like the drama. Thankfully they gave it a proper ending so i’m happy about that :D
Great actors in this one, nice chemistry, very funny and light to watch, the female lead was awesome, she did an amazing job and she is such a charismatic actress! It was my first time seeing her acting on a drama and i really liked her versatility, she is just like a mood every single time i see her haha love it! Her male co star was also spot on and he is such a treat for sore eyes too XD
Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad review, i really liked the drama and i quite enjoyed watching it. It actually makes you think about life and what is beyond us and how tiny we are in this big universe filled with stars. This drama touched me but not in the way i hoped it would? It's weird to even try to explain it XD
What i meant with my comment was that it lacked that memorable factor to keep me attached to the story and characters to a deeper level. It was romantic and funny, yes it was, it warmed my heart but on the other hand some things were a bit off too.
I still strongly recomend it tho. Watch it because you will like it and spend a good time watching it :D

Because of Kim Soo Hyun i started this drama ^^ and later found myself totally falling for the actress. her acting was superb. i really liked her character and the way she executed it. Kim Soo Hyun was as Gr8 as expected.. i fell for him more but still the female protagonist was AWESOME!!
From the very first episode i was hooked - laughing, crying and experiencing all type of emotions just like the actors in the series. All the scenes felt more great because of the OST(s).
Even thou its a story about a Alien landing and trying to adapt on a earth but it was totally told from a romantic view not a Sci- fi. This was the thing which i liked the most but still it would have been much better if some of the things could have been explained a little more clearly and if a little more background on our alien was given. There were many things that i personally wanted to know . But i think its common in K- dramas and it also did not made me like it less.
Leaving my personal inquisitions aside, everything was PERFECT.
I mostly don't watch dramas again : 1. i have many more drams in my list
2. and i don't know i couldn't make myself rewatch it for a
second time. i feel that i'll get boring
But
i think i have to watch this drama again because im still not full of this. I dont know for how many times i'll rewatch it but i'll for sure drag a friend of mine and make them watch this wonderful drama.
My only regret(not exactly"regret") and my reason for deducting 0.5 marks from the story was it would have been much much better if the ending could have been the way i wanted it to be. But i was also satisfied with the actual ending.
Overall: Watch this wonderful drama if u are looking : for a great romantic and supernatural story
: for great writing and perfect till the ending
: great acting and superb cute looks of Kim Soo
Hyun.
: great side stories/ actors and back story

Too much useless arguing
Ugh.The hero: I didn't really like him. He is presented as this perfect being, but he's so arrogant and close-minded, and he certainly does not display a 400 year-old's maturity either. Mostly, there are so many things he handles SO. STUPIDLY! And he's horribly careless with the heroine's feelings, how many times does he break her heart?! "Selfish" indeed.
The heroine: very endearing, the best part of the drama for me. Except she gets along with pretty much no one in her life, so other than her cute scenes with the hero, we're treated to fight scene after fight scene, which isn't pleasant to watch at all IMO. And for the whole latter portion of the drama, even her scenes with the hero aren't enjoyable anymore, since she's so upset and spends so much time crying.
Also bad: the second lead's creepy obsession with the heroine, the frenemy's repetitive crap, the childhood friend whose scenes are even more tacked on than usual.
Lastly: don't think too much about the whole 13/15 year-old thing. Yuck.

I really love her...
The story is quite similar to Time Traveller's wife, with just some additional twists..... I don't remember any good music on it... ;p But cinematography wise it's amazing!
It's just too long for 20 eps.... This can be done on 16 eps.....

*NO SPOILERS*Just finished "You who came from the stars" one of the most famous dramas of this year.
It was a really good drama, but I have to say that I found it somehow overrated .The plot was not so surprising and it had many cliches.
Also except from the leads the other characters, were characters I have seen many times before in korean dramas. For example Yoo In Na as "Yoo Se Mi" is the typical two-faced girl that annoys you all the time or Shin Sung Rok as Lee Jae Kyun, the necessary bad guy of a melodrama.
But despite the cliches , I think "You who came from the stars" is a drama worth watching especially for the good acting.
Kim Soo Hyun did a good job as Do Mi Joon, but the star of the show was Chun Song Yi (in my opinion she was the whole show).Jun Ji Hyun amazing acting skills turned the typical sassy lead, who might have been annoying, into a likable role you couldn't get enough from.
Not a masterpiece but definetly a very good drama.

This drama had two stories; the Cheong Song Yi~Do Min Joon love story and the Lee Jae Kyung crime story. One of them I liked, the other not so much. The story I liked:
You would expect me to like the love story, right? But that's not the one I liked. The only reason why I saw this drama to the end was because of Jae Kyung's story. His character fascinated me from the beginning. And parts relating to his story were the only ones that didn't bore me.
Jae Kyung was so creepy and Shin Sung Rok played him so well! I loved the detective (Se Mi's brother)! The actor played him very well and this whole story was just so interesting to watch!
*Minor spoilers ahead*
I'm so glad that the writer used the "Monsters are born" theme rather than the "Monsters are created" one. I really wanted Jae Kyung to be evil. 'No guilt for my actions' kind of evil. He was already scary and all through the drama I kept wishing that they wouldn't justify his actions by saying that some tragic accident made him like this. So I was glad that this went the way I wanted to.
*End of spoiler*
I only wish this story would have been dealt with more. That there would have been more of this story in the drama. But that wasn't possible because the main story was the love story...
The story that was meh:
I should have liked the love story... The acting was amazing and I really liked the characters as well. I felt really guilty for yawning through Song Yi-Min Joon romantic scenes. But they bored me. I think maybe that was more my fault than their's... There were some scenes that I liked though. The beginning scenes were funny and cute. You know, before they swore their undying love for each other. The kiss scenes were pretty good too. But I got really bored with them in the second half of the drama.
I wish they would've showed how Do Min Joon's planet was. At least given a little more detail...
Other things I liked:
I loved Song Yi's brother! I want a whole drama with him as the main character! At first he was mysterious, then he became cute and I really loved him! What I can't believe is that he, who was I think about 18 years old, was played by a 26 year-old guy! And it didn't even show (unlike Lee Min Ho in Heirs)!
I loved Do Min Joon and Lawyer Jang's relationship! It was adorable! Lawyer Jang was adorable!
I really didn't like Hwi Kyung at the beginning. But when he started investigating his brother and showed how smart he was, I fell in love with him! I honestly thought he would say 'My brother can't be like that.' and turn a blind eye to everything. But he proved how smart and strong he was! I'm proud of you Hwi Kyung!
Final Verdict: This was a good drama. The acting was outstanding! And the story was pretty interesting as well. I would highly recommend this drama! For me, it was worth the watch. If not the love story, it made for a good crime story!

It ticks every box and more .
Swoon.I watched You Who Came From the Stars (YWCFTS) purely because of the story line and boy was I not disappointed! I expect nothing less from men but a hot alien who has accumulated a wealth of knowledge , experience and literal wealth over the course of 400 years. That’s besides the point though.
I highly recommend this drama because the story line is very intriguing so a pull through is definite even for the picky viewers. The parallel arches of the two protagonists is very good and if you are a sucker for fate then this one is for the ages . The story is actually simple enough to follow and this is a K Drama with everything-. It’s a love story for the literal ages as it spans years , its a melodrama yet spiced with an evil chaebol villain and the social commentary on celebrity culture in Korea made this quite a wholesome story.. It has great morals and the script makes for great food for thought. I especially loved the comedy in this and was guaranteed a huge laugh which just makes this drama all the more approachable and quite good. To date - it’s one of the funniest dramas I have ever watched.
I think the highlight of this drama is how real and unaffected the female protagonist was written. She is not annoying in the slightest bit and everything she does makes sense albeit hilarious and there’s none of that noble idiocy that K Dramas seem to gravitate towards. There were some teeny plot holes that affected the rating of the story to be a 9.5 but nothing too major.
As for the acting and cast - very good. I could say perfect but going in I was a bit unsure about the compatibility of the two as the chemistry was a slow bubble at first and I think that’s down to Kim So Hyun baby face looks and Jun Hi Hyun elegant face which was a discrepancy at first but was actually perfect taken with context of the story. The casting directors really hit the jackpot with these two expressive actors ! Furthermore, supporting cast was great too . I particularly loved Park Hae Jin who plays the second lead and I plan to make it a point to watch his dramas.
The music is virtually non existent but what is there is perfectly fine. The instrumentals were stellar and flooring . What does take the space of the music is the stellar fashion. I was swooning for every outfit that the main cast wore . I actually take away a few styling quips from YWCFTS such as Lee Hwigeong’s ( Park Hae Jin) turtle neck and coat ensembles , Doo Min Joon’s (Kim So Hyun) structured coat collars and the ladies penchant for leather pants , belted blazers and tasteful sparkle . The fashion is a definite 10.
Rewatch value is a 10 out of 10 and I’m very stingy with rewatch value scores but I’m definitely watching the “severely beautiful” Cheon Song Yi and Do Min Joon again . There are some cult classic scenes and lines in this drama that are absolute gems to not be watched more than once .
Overall it was such a fluid watch and so much fun to watch too! And personally that’s what makes a good show in the end . Fluidity.

Lots of talented familiar faces
If you are a first time watcher I suggest grabbing the Bluray version since it got few minutes extra content with every episode + small epilogue revealing a short emotional monologue or just a cute cut of a scene.I knew what I was getting myself into yet I can't help but feel it's overrated. It's good but not great.
The good: Lots of talented familiar faces, big diverse cast. Great acting. Enjoyable contrast between the leads. Female lead personality reminds me of Han Ye Seul role in Couple or Trouble.
The bad: Long, really long! It takes forever for something significant to happen. Given its length, too much screen time was given to the main leads that the rest feels like less than a support character. You have a big cast full of diverse characters and mini sub stories yet barely anything shown from that. That's something I find modern dramas does better.
Male lead powers are problematic element that only leads to a weaker writing with plot holes.
The ugly: The villain character is just not good. It's the weakest part of the drama. Feels like there is a big contrast between how his character was written and the rest of the script.
