ML carried this drama alone.
Finally done watching.- Chemistry: 9
- Story: 8.5
- ML’s Acting: 9.5
- FL’s Acting: 4
The story is pretty decent. I really love bad boy–cute girl dynamics. The best part? No love triangle—which I absolutely hate. The leads have undeniably good chemistry, though the FL’s acting is incredibly annoying. I stayed because the ML was really good. I’m now a fan. Honestly, he carried this drama on his own.
The FL is just not good at acting. She only knows how to act cute and use baby talk. Her voice is so annoying—it was hard to watch her scenes. I have nothing against her personally; I’m judging purely based on her performance, especially as a female lead. She still doesn’t have what it takes to be one. In fact, the two female side characters (Nana and WQ) acted better than she did. This is my objective opinion, especially when comparing her to other actresses.
I want to commend the ML. He really made me believe he was JZ. He delivered his lines with depth and consistency. He’s one of the best C-drama actors I’ve ever watched. It’s my first time seeing him, by the way, and his acting was always on point. He’s the reason I stayed and finished this drama—he truly deserves to be watched.
Overall: A pretty decent drama and a good watch. Just don’t expect much from the FL, and prepare to be annoyed by her duck-face acting.

A Sizzling Fire Doused with Cold Water
My ratings are generous, but my review might not be. If there are hundreds of things that I loved about this show, then some glaring issues made me question it as well. Following are the reasons why I liked it a lot yet left unsatisfied. Why will you like the show?
1) Unique Setup
This show is not like other c-dramas. The synopsis might make you feel that it's a cliche, but not really. The whole setup is unique. Majority of the show is set in Bangkok (man city), some parts of Canada and the rest in Nanjing. It has a rebellious world building, something that's usually missing in Cdramas. The boxing, racing, mechanic/garage axis gives it a flair different from usual modern cdramas shot in Beijing and Shanghai.
2) Same yet Different Characters
The main characters might read like classic shoujo manga. Cutesy mischievous teenage girl, capable hot rebellious boy. But somehow, the execution of these characters was pretty refreshing thanks to Esther and He Yu. Now, that doesn't mean that I love the extra childish antics of Esther. But I understand that it was the demand of the script and the director. Both these characters were refreshing to watch because these actors did a great job, so did their styling team and direction.
3) Insane Romance
The single reason why I would recommend people to watch it is for its romance. The chemistry is sizzling and refreshing. Despite censorship, the team did a fabulous job of conveying a hot romance with a star-crossed lover theme. These two are meant to be together, period. And the moment they decide to understand, accept and act upon these emotions, its an absolute treat for viewers. You will experience dragons let alone butterflies in your stomach.
4) HE FREAKING YU
I was shocked to realize that he's the same guy who acted in My Fated Boy. Talk about being a chameleon. You can tell he really got into shape and worked very hard on himself for this role. Most importantly, he is intoxicatingly charming. If he is on the screen, you will not be able to focus on anything but him. Its not just that he is extremely handsome, but he is acutely aware of how to use his charms. He is spectacular actor. And the biggest takeaway for every viewer of this show will be discovering him cos I know I will keep a look out for his future projects.
Why will you dislike the show?
1) Disaster Second Half
If the first half of the show was the finest premium Swiss chocolate, the second half was the synthetic stuff found in a local shop. There was a point when I was wondering if I was watching the same show. It's not that I wasn't prepared for the shift as it was written in the synopsis, its the execution of it all. You will feel frustrated about things that don't make sense. It diminished the star appeal of the show.
2) Ridiculous script & story
The overall story is fine, two siblings who are not blood related falling in love....accepting this change and realizing the full depth of their relationship. The first half does great justice to that. But there were so many writing/creative choices made by the makers in the show that will make you extremely angry. The so called tribulation that they go through for years in the second half was not sensible in anyway. It was just a stupid creative choice. The characters started behaving unlike them, the fl was shown with zero self esteem, the ml was not given a chance to redeem himself, its all just too much by the end. You would start missing the Bangkok arc.
All in all, its a good romantic show which the fans of the genre should definitely give a shot. But do not expect a perfect show. Enjoy it for what it is and for their romance. It has a great rewatch value with many memorable scenes and performances.

Where did the Shandian go?
I think 8.5 rating is fair. I didn't like how 19 year old woman behave like she was 12 sometimes (I blame the director for wanting something like this, not Shuxin, she did a great job!). I also didn’t like the strange editing choices, time jumps and the way some storylines were abruptly cut or just went missing. Was this review helpful to you?

Better Late Than Never: I Just Found My Ultimate CDrama Pookie!
Okay so I watched this drama a little too late and I regret every bit of it. Because Oh my godddd whyyy and how did I live without watching this great gem of a drama till now!The story is so simple yet so heart touchingly relatable because every thing that happened to main leads and the characters surrounded to them can happen to anyone of us - LIFE. An intelligent boy whose parents died in an accident was adopted by his father's friend which eventually led him to spend his childhood days with the girl he was going to spend his entire life with! I am anytime and everytime all in for this plot, especially when the plot is so well executed in every aspect - production, locations, best actors casted for the suitable roles, screenplay, direction, music, costumes and very important - Emotions. There wasn't a single episode which didn't keep me glued to my screen. After a long time, I am liking, feeling and living a modern cdrama so much otherwise this kind of after effects are usually left behind by xianxia or wuxia dramas. The chemistry is chemistying between He Yu and Esther they literally had 1000% chemistry from the first scene itself! He Yu - you beautiful man! I watched him in Blossoms of Power, though it's story was not impressive even a single percent but my only reason to complete that bullshit was He Yu and here, I am head over heels for him! The way he brought Jin Zhao to life, I am sure no other actor can! He brought that manly yet gentle badboy image to life which is not as easy as it seems. He is rude and benevolent to others but for his girl he becomes a pure and unhinged pookie with no guilt at all. The way you can actually feel the weakness and helplessness on his face post leap is soo well acted by him. I would be seated on a watching list to watch every project he does. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TALENT I CAME ACROSS!!!!Esther - a beautiful sassy cutie as always. The character of Mu Mu required a balance of youthful energy and maturity, which was handled perfectly. The vocal performance adds a layer of sweetness that fits the role well. A special mention must go to the wardrobe; every outfit was on point and complemented the character's charm, making her look stunning in every scene. The dedication to the craft shows through in how well the chemistry is generated with the lead actors.Mike Angelo - A charming addition to the cast. There is a strong aura and personality that makes it impossible to ignore this performance, even in a supporting role. The screen presence is undeniable, and the natural chemistry shared with Esther and He Yu adds a lot of depth to the group dynamic. It is great to see such talent back in the industry. The actors who played the circle of friends, especially San Lai, were excellent. Their performances made the story feel grounded and fun. The portrayal of the parents finding love later in life was also a commendable touch, showing that two people can be good individuals even if they weren't right for each other initially. If this drama hasn't been started yet, it is highly recommended to go watch it right now!Was this review helpful to you?
A drama adaptation of a fanfic!
I personally enjoyed the overall vibe of Speed and Love! It reminds me of one of my favorite Taiwanese dramas ever, "The Outsiders." The main focus is more about car racing which also reminds me of the Taiwanese adapted movie, "Initial D" They even have the CAR in this drama! It's very nostalgic for me hence I kept watching it! ^^Firstly, I began waching this drama because of the synopsis and not the leads or any of the actors. The only reason I even stuck to this drama was, because of the plot. LOL Unfortunately, there were a few things that bothered me while watching this drama. But let's begin with the positives first.
THE SETTING! I absolutely LOVE the setting of this drama. It's set in Thailand, and the color gradient in the drama is GORGEOUS. I love how the director plays around with light and dark as well. You can see Jiang Mu (Esther) gets bathe in the sunlight occasionally, and then there's Jin Zhao (He Yu) sitting in the dark. By the end of this drama, I think it's safe to say this drama isn't about Jiang Mu, but more about Jin Zhao's life. Whoever designed the garage needs a raise, cause they used the tire as a SINK! I LOVE IT!
Jin Zhao is played by He Yu. He was orphaned as a child for reasons you may need to watch. Anyways, he grew up with Jiang Mu and takes very good care of her. He is the GREENEST FLAG character in cdramaland of 2025. I absolutely loved his acts of service, because he takes carrots and green onion out of Jiang Mu's plate so she could eat. He notices many things about Jiang Mu, and takes care of it without her having to ask. I think I saw 2 of He Yu's side character dramas, unfortunately I don't recall how his acting was there, but his name was memorable enough for me to look him up at one point. I digress. His acting in this drama is PHENOMENAL. I LOVE IT! This man can MICROact, he moves his facial muscles and is able to express through his EYES. Even the way he moves feels like he's embodying his character so well. A lot of male actors are not able to do this, I can count on my fingers how many other actors can do this, and He Yu is definitely on the list! For me, he carried the acting in this drama. I heard that he does his own drifting(correct me if I'm wrong) and I can definitely see it in the way he drives in the drama, it's very convincing and real to me. The way he fights is also quite satisfying, and apparently he also boxes in real life! This dude can do anything at this point.
Moving on to Esther's interpretation of Jiang Mu. Firstly, I did not read the novel, so I am basing my judgement on the drama itself. Jiang Mu is the younger adopted sister of Jin Zhao. She is typically a very happy-go-lucky girl who is always running after Jin Zhao and wanting to know what has happened with him since their family separation. However, she is no damsel-in-distress, she's able to fight for herself when it's needed and she's determined to get to the bottom of things when she sets her mind to it. She is also academically smart, possibly due to Jin Zhao's motivation. lol It feels like her world revolves around Jin Zhao, not her parents, not even her half-sibling. I honestly wish there was more half-sibling bond, but alas.
Acting wise, I think Esther's portrayal of a 18-year-old seems a lot more childish than one may be. I also think her acting from 1 to 19 was giving very "rookie actress" vibes because of the forced expressions, blank expressions with big boba but also blank eyes, or comedic expressions like when she's suddenly shocked: big eyes open and that's it. I thought for a second, it's the way the scene was edited - cause it just felt off when she suddenly had that expression on.
When Jiang Mu was driving or drifting, Esther's facial expression wasn't really there as oppose to how He Yu does it. I do not know how to describe what Esther was showing from my POV, but I know for sure she was not driving. lol There was a scene where she got out of the car all cutely which I thought was uneccesary. It just you'd think she would act "cool" cause she's drifting and all, but she didn't bring any of that charisma that I had expected of her. I was really hoping to see more of Jiangmu drifting, but unfortunately she only did it briefly all for Jin Zhao.
The first 19 episodes was difficult to watch Esther act as Jiangmu, but I pushed myself through it because I thought perhaps this is just her interpretation of a teenager and maybe it will get better as she grows up. Jiang Mu is not extremely cutified by Esther, but there is some cuteness trait to it because she's able to let loose and be comfortable acting like that around Jin Zhao. It sometimes it had me thinking whether or not the character is embodying Esther herself instead of the other way around.
Otherwise, she seemed okay around other side characters. I really enjoyed her portrayal in episode 19, granted it took some heartbreak to see it. Other than that, I don't think Esther's acting was terrible, nor was it amazing. I have seen a few of her dramas and many of her dramas are hit and misses for me. This was in the middle, I think she could've done better. I also think the drama fell off after Jiang Mu came back to Nanjing, I was getting bored by this point as there wasn't anything exciting left to watch.
Despite of this, the CHEMISTRY between the leads were intense, I think they looked good together!
Since the drama was cut short, there were a few scenes that came out of no where and it was quite confusing. I also have a problem with the SCRIPT! There were many times where I'm like wtf is wrong with this script, it's so cringe or it doesn't make any sense! Especially the lines given to Mike D'Angelo! WHO GAVE HIM THOSE CRINGEY AF LINES?! We need to talk!! "I like Chinese women" 'I like handsome men"- Jiang Mu. And then they wanted to cover the dog's eyes because Jiang Mu thinks it may be able to tell someone that they're dating or whatever I don't remember what she said exactly, but I thought that line was stupid. Who WROTE THAT?!
I would recommend this drama if you enjoy fanfic-like romances.
However, if you want a good script, I don't think this will fulfill that itch for you.
If you're a sentimental, and nostalgic kind of person, this may be up your alley due to the setting of the drama.
Also if you love Initial D or any car racing movie or drama - Give this drama a try!

Speed and Love: When Sun & Moon Went Off Track
🔹 Would I rewatch? No🔹 The pseudo‑sibling setup may alienate viewers. Although the characters are not blood-related and were not raised together, the long‑standing sibling bond can still make the romance feel uncomfortable for many.
📕 Overview
🔹 30 episodes, romance, drama, action
🔹 Adapted from the web novel “Shuang Gui” (双轨) by Shi Jiu Yuan
🔹 On paper, this is a high‑stakes reunion story. Jiang Mu grows up in a sheltered, stable world, while Jin Zhao is pulled into Thailand’s underground racing and fighting.
🔹 Years later, she flies to Thailand alone to track him and her father down, only to find Jin Zhao scraping by in garages, races, and fight pits instead of a warm family reunion.
🔹 The setup promises a “good girl walks into bad boy’s world” romance across Thailand and China, with danger, family fallout, and second chances built in.
🔹 What stood out to me early on was how dramatic everything wants to be, even when the writing and performances do not always have the depth to back that up.
🌸 How It Felt Watching
🔹 Personally, I did not care for Esther Yu’s performance or the way the relationship is framed.
🔹Instead of keeping me in the race, it made me disengage and park this drama in the garage.
🔹 The Thailand underground settings has built‑in danger that it should be gripping, but the way scenes are written and acted, it's more of a backdrop.
✨ Cast & Acting
🔹 Esther Yu plays Jiang Mu, a stubborn and intelligent character who steps into chaos for someone she loves. However, her performance often seems overly childish and cute.
🔹 He Yu as Jin Zhao has the right look for a tortured lead and the “tough on the outside, soft on the inside.”
🔹 It appears that their chemistry is meant to be intense, but because their sibling bond is established early on, it was hard for me to embrace the romantic shift.
🔹 Supporting roles around them help fill out the world of racers, fighters, and family, but no one in the cast stood out enough to compensate for the leads’ weaknesses.
🎞️ Production Style
Production is one of the stronger sides here, even when the story and acting are not.
🔹 The humid, neon‑lit Thailand setting, garages, race tracks, and boxing rings give the drama a distinct visual identity.
🔹 There are some nicely framed shots of fights and races that make the world feel believable, even if the performances in those scenes do not always match the visuals
🔹 For me, the atmosphere often feels stronger than the writing.
☕ Tea Notes
✏️I believe the script is the blueprint and the first sip of any drama.
🔹 First sip reflection: The premise sounded like an edgy, forbidden romance that would hit hard, but the early episodes already showed me that the plot and acting are not my cup of tea.
🔹 What worked: The core idea of two kids forced onto different life tracks meeting again in a dangerous world is compelling, and the Thailand setting gives the show a unique flavor.
🔹 What did not work: The relationship framing is a big hurdle on its own. When you pair it with uneven plotting and performances that rarely reach the promised emotional intensity, it is hard to stay fully invested.
☕ SpillTheDramaTea’s Rating: 5/10

When your FL is a toddler
Oof. Look, for 2/3rds of this show, this 20 year old woman talks in a baby voice, wheedles like a child, and actually MOVES like a toddler at times. Like, running and dancing with that awkward toddler-like physicality where they aren’t quite sure where their limbs go. She does that exaggerated blinky thing that you really only see in humans under 5, or humans with other developmental stuff going on. A friend offers her a coke, and she pouts and baby-talks she wants a coke fetched by the ML - this in front of his friends, who are working adults! This is actually disturbing to see in a 20 year old. And when you layer on top of that the fact that she believed the ML was her biological older brother for at least the first 10 years of her life - what the hell is going on here?! With her, AND with him!?Story: goofy and outlandish as hell, but within the boundaries of the world described, few showstopping plot holes. (You know, other than everyone in the family losing their minds that two kids who were raised as biological siblings are obviously dating.) Unfortunately this drama is also two shows: 2/3 is a weird Fast & Furious & VC Andrews mashup, and 1/3 is an actually kind of interesting reunion-with-complications story. I wish those ratios had been reversed. Also if you are not a car person, prepare to fast forward the vroomy bits, of which there are many. And if you’re a person who has any sort of auditory sensitivity - lots of tires squealing, so enjoy the mute button.
Direction: based on costuming, scripting, makeup and casting, I have to assume the director WANTED that childlike performance out of Esther. Which is deranged, but also very much on him. Ick, sir. I know a lot of people enjoy the kissing scenes here, but honestly all credit goes to the actors, the way it’s shot isn’t particularly creative. The cinematography is quite nice though, good color palette.
Acting: Here is where the caveat for Esther comes in, because she’s hired to do a job, and I think she actually did do the job she was hired for - if you hire an actress known for a baby voice and manga expressions, put her in frilly ankle socks and barrettes and pigtails, and then make her say daft things like “he’s my guardian” when she is a whole big 20 years of age and applying to universities internationally… Well, she fulfilled the objective. Which is a damn shame, because a more organic and less cartoony FL in the first section would have made the second section way more meaningful. “Love for You” just did this FL transformation and it’s miles better.
Enough about the FL. Onto the ML: I did not expect to be impressed with He Yu. Was not on the radar at all, was pretty generic bad-boy-with-pure-heart in the first piece, smolders like a monster but again that’s not a rare trait. And then the second part of the show rolls around, and I am surprised how much he transformed that character and managed to tether the character to an entirely different core while keeping consistency. Most time jumps are the same character with better hair and clothes - this isn’t. It’s easy to strip away silly youthful stereotype
behaviors and pretend that’s maturity (FL), but He Yu actually changed all sorts of things about his performance that communicated years of change. Posture, movement, confidence, communication. I would have enjoyed a show entirely focused on him and that arc. Was not expecting that, and will definitely look for him in other dramas.
But not this one! Which I give zero rewatch value.

SUPER WORTH TO WATCH
Honestly, if I could give this drama a 1000 rating, I absolutely would. I love this macho genre so much. Especially Xinxin’s acting he’s incredibly adorable and Jin Zhao’s macho presence is just perfect. The music selection, the cinematography, and the beauty of every atmosphere are all deeply memorable. Everything feels carefully crafted and leaves a lasting impression.
It’s safe to say this is one of the best dramas to close out 2025. Every single element of this drama has left a mark on my heart.

HOTTEST CDRAMA AT THE END OF THIS YEAR
Everything in this drama is truly beautiful, especially in the aspect of color gradation which is very sharp but still beautiful and aesthetic. This makes every scene and its meaning a beautiful message and easy to understand by the audience. Supported by the acting of the players and extraordinary chemistry so that the storyline feels very alive and memorable. Esther Yu's acting as Jiang Mu is a challenge for Esther in the acting world but Esther is able to get through it very well In my opinion, Jiang Mu's character is not much different from Esther Yu's character in real life, namely a cheerful, unyielding and fashionable young girl. Jiang Mu's character also teaches about determination, the process of healing and making peace with all the wounds in the past by not having to leave it all but by holding it with an open heart and daring to start again from the beginning for a better and happier life. The OST is also very in tune with every emotion displayed, making this drama very worth watching at the end of this year because it has a deep and burning intensity. Was this review helpful to you?
Not Just a Drama, but a Memory My Heart Will Keep Forever
*Speed and Love* is a beautifully crafted work of art.
It is not merely something I watched — it has become a memory my heart will carry forever.
From the visuals, the cast, to the storyline, everything was thoughtfully and beautifully executed. I have read the original novel, and in my opinion, this drama adapted it in an even more poetic and touching way. The storytelling feels more delicate, and the OST elevates every emotion, allowing each scene to linger long after it ends.
Heyu and Esther portrayed Jin Zhao and Jiang Mu so perfectly that I cannot imagine anyone else in these roles. To me, they are the embodiment of these characters — natural, sincere, and deeply moving. Their performances made the story feel alive in the most genuine way.
Even now, I find myself unable to move on to other dramas. I am still emotionally stuck in *Speed and Love*, unable — and unwilling — to let it go.
Thank you to all the cast and crew who created something this beautiful. This drama will always hold a special place in my heart. I sincerely hope that Heyu and Yu Shuxin will reunite in another drama someday.
Once again, *Speed and Love* is not just a drama — it is my soul.

the acting team of ML and FL is excellent. it was destined for them to be the heart of this drama. i can say that she has improved, so i need people to stop hating her because her voice and acting indicate that this drama is not for you, bcs you don't need to force it and nitpick to satisfied your ego. if u don't like someone with a cute voice and bubbly personality, just see the drama with FL who has a masculine voice lol. this drama is suitable for those who have feminine energy and love sunshine fl.
this drama give me comfort vibes for me, i love the cinematography this drama same like the best thing and the forbidden flower. you guys need to watch this drama! <3
