The BL Horror Story That Was Actually Scary
I’m not a fan of horror, but I decided to give this one a chance since I watched PoohPavel in Pit Babe before and wanted to see their new work. And honestly… this horror story is actually scary. The ghosts are terrifying, and the visuals are very convincing, so beware of watching it at night. 😈When it comes to acting, Pavel is being Pavel — which means his emotions are convincing and feel very natural. As for Pooh, at the beginning I had the impression that he improved since Pit Babe, but as I continued watching, I started to notice the same things that bothered me before. Pooh still needs to work a bit more on his pronunciation and his acting style. Sometimes it’s not fully convincing, especially since he’s portraying an adult but occasionally acts a bit childish. Also, when he’s flirting, something feels slightly off.
What I really liked, though, were the scenes where he is haunted by ghosts — the emotions there are good and believable.
The best part of watching this series, apart from the story itself, was reading the comment section 😂 For example, fans demanding that the ghosts should start haunting the characters they found annoying — that was hilarious.
So greetings to all the fans who made watching this story even more fun because of YouTube comments!

good story done very messy
*spoilers are very slight, but i do discuss story as a whole*
I want to start with praise first, since most important part of detective with horror elements is a story and it is good. It has foreshadowing when its needed, solid structure and some good emotional beats. Good work from special effects and make up crew creates visual hooks from the start too and if you are a fan of gory-type of horror they do deliver till the end of the series.
Unfortunately, this is not as good if you look and detective side of the story and its execution. Unlike slashers or horrors with high-schoolers, some degree of common sense is expected from cops, even if they do not believe in ghost from the get go... but no, people responsible for the script more often than not choose stupid as a solution. It is not as evident at the start (like arresting Thup, but not removing his belt), but gets progressively worse, culminating in 12th episode. Sometimes main characters acting dumb is not a big deal, but not in this genre. At least i strongly believe so.
Other thing, that i found even more unforgivable - inconsistencies in magical side of things. Any magic, including ghosts and curses, need to follow its rules. Instead, we have Thup, who is in constant danger from all ghosts in the world, until it just stops, and Singha who is a proper ghost repellant, until this stops working too. And at first the killings have to follow strict rules and even slight interference can ruin it, forcing killer to start over... oh, wait, its also not like that. And its all ended this a proper deus ex machina spell. So very disappointing, so easily fixable.
Romance part, unfortunately, also lives much to be desired. Main couple starts awkward and forced and continues to be out of place. I do wonder if fans of Pooh and Pavel loved it, but for someone not invested in them, it was like watching inserts from some other show, once again it was stronger the closer we got to the end. Second couple fit in narrative much better, but with much less screen time or even focus.
Good story bits are still good, some parts are even great and it is entertaining enough. But bad parts ruin it pretty noticeably if you prefer logic in your entertainment.

I was surprised how it caught me
I patiently waited for this drama to be complete so I could watch it in two days like nothing. The beginning was quite mysterious and sometimes scary, until you get used to the ghosts. Not only characters came to the set, but also mysteries and revelations, when I tried to come up with my theories the whole time, but I was not successful. I liked it. Or at least the first half. The second half annoyed me at times because the real drama was happening and at the beginning, they just drank coffee, didn't think and moved like zombies. As if human lives were not at stake at all. But in the end there was a touching moment and somehow you forgot about it.
I wouldn't have anything to criticize about the characters and their portrayal, except that I still saw characters from Pit Babe in them. The behavior of the main characters was very similar.

Great acting. Pooh's acting has gotten so solid, including Pavel. I love the other pairing, the chemistry blend, the acting, no over the top scenes everything was just right into perfection. I love the songs as well. I could go on about the series.
The thrill and everything. I love this series, it's been a while I truly enjoyed series, since ThamePo and Reset, Moonlight Chicken and a few. Goddess bless you from death, has entered my charts of favorites. I will definitely watch this again.
Thank you this series.

I understand the hype
Tbh, had this show not turned up on Netflix, I probably wouldn't have watched it.When the show 1st aired and the people were talking about it, I chalked up the conversations and excitement to fandom hype. I thought the people were lying because
a. I had tried watching Pit Babe before. A show that till date, somehow trickles its edits to my Twitter algorithm, and let's just say that it wasn't a good base to start from.
b. The show was unfortunately airing alongside another drama that I was watching/preoccupied with. One with a huge ship fandom who kept hyping and praising the drama when in truth, -and my opinion is truth in this case-, had a really bad plot and very mediocre acting.
Because of this, I unfortunately judged too soon, and perhaps too harshly, and chose not to watch it.
But then, I finished rewatching 'Khemjira' on Netflix and watched both seasons of 'The Believers' on the same platform. That sent me down a mini spiral where I wanted to explore more thrilling Thai stories based on religion. Thus, I gave this a chance. I am very glad that I did
What I Liked
1. The horror aspect - They said it was scary and meant it. Don't tell anyone, but I watched all the episodes during the day😅.
2. Religion/Folk Tradition/Occultism - I've recently learned that I find other religions fascinating. Not in a 'dig up the tombs in Egypt' type of fascination, but something more along the lines of 'what do they do in this religion, folk tradition, mythic, etc., that's different from what I know or have been exposed to in my religion and culture?
I know what Christianity says, I know Catholicism, and I know things from my culture's traditional beliefs. But how about Buddhism? Taoism? Hinduism? Korean shamanic practices? Chinese mythology? etc. I wanna know. And shows like this one give me a glimpse into it all. It's all so interesting. Scary, as all religions lowkey are, but oh so interesting.
3. Production Quality - *A hand of applause for everyone involved in the absolute masterpiece that was the cinematography*
4. Chemistry - So, when this aired, I saw on my feed fans complaining about how little NC was in this show. Especially considering the previous two BLs that this ship had been in. From those comments, I thought that that'd be to the detriment of the drama, but... I actually liked it. I feel like the fade-to-black scenes allowed them to build and show the sexual tension in this couple beautifully. I would like to highlight Pavel, especially in this one. He knows how to portray desire in his eyes really well.
PS. I am officially a fan of the Muscular Uke Association ( I always was, actually). Pavel and Poom (My Stand In & Love of Silom), for the win. Somebody direct me to more muscular Ukes. Actually, you know what, give me all the ships that go against the standard we are used to. Muscular ukes, shorter tops, age gaps with older ukes, etc. Give them all to me
What Could've Been Better/I Didn't Enjoy
1. All the doubts surrounding the occult angle of the murders - I made sense for Singha and Sey (they are the biggest culprits) to be doubtful of the ghosts in the beginning. I'd be doubtful too. However, after multiple episodes and run-ins with things they could not explain or see, straight-up evidence that there was something otherworldly connected to this case, their doubts felt annoying and frustrating. Especially with Sey constantly basically gaslighting Darin that he was imagining being haunted.
2. The plot from ep 9 - Things started getting shaky, and logic started leaving the building the minute Darin goes to pray in the very house that their team was investigating. With so many temples in Thailand, why choose the one place that's directly connected to an ongoing murder?
Why did the team members suddenly start doing things without informing at least one other person? Why go out by themselves? Why separate when tailing a suspect in abandoned areas? So many decisions did not make logical sense as we started heading to the climax of this story, which was more than a little disappointing.
The plot also felt slower from ep 11. The pacing till ep 10 had been fine, but something fell off after that.
3. King's characterization - It was so very inconsistent that I could not understand who he was supposed to be. A corrupt cop like his dad? An arrogant ex partner come to steal glory once more from the people he fucked over before? A jilted lover who wanted his ex back and was willing to do anything to get him back (even fram current ex's lover over trumped-up drug charges)? A good cop with an overbearing butthole of a dad? A misunderstood good guy? A combination of all? The man had so many switches in personality and end goals that I got whiplash.
4. Some of the acting could be better, especially in the more emotionally intense scenes.
Conclusion: While the show isn't perfect, it is far better than some of what we are exposed to out here. The romance, while not the focal point of the show, is very sweet. The show shines in its production quality, pacing in the 1st 8-10 episodes, and portrayal of the horror of occult practices.

Creepy, Engaging, and (Almost) Brilliant
To be honest, this drama really surprised me, especially the horror aspects. It was truly creepy and dark and the production team was clearly not afraid to make the atmosphere unsettling and gory during the horror parts, which I really appreciate. The mystery was really interesting and most of the plot twists were quite good as well.PROS
1. Really good horror effects (very dark, creepy, and disgusting) - This show is what I would call a true horror, at least for me.
2. Engaging mystery with fairly good plot twists
3. Pretty good character development, especially for King, Singha, and Thup
4. It had a strong horror atmosphere when needed. The horror aspects never fizzled out.
5. Amazing intro and OST - really matched the overall tone of the drama.
6. Fantastic Acting - Especially by the villains. Their performance was genuinely creepy and scary as hell.
CONS
1. EPS 12 and 13 - The last two episodes felt like they were written and directed by someone else. There was so many plot-holes in these two episodes and all of the characters became really dumb all of the sudden. I could not grasp the complete change in the characters (felt very OOC). I was willingly to ignore logic for the most part, considering this a BL and it still is a pretty new genre to the BL industry, but episodes 12 and 13 really pushed it too far.
2. The Second Couple - Honestly, the second couple was severely underutilized. They clearly had complex and interesting history, which was barely explored at all. This made to quite difficult for me to understand why they were behaving the way they did initially. It really was a missed opportunity to develop Darin and Sey’s relationship more deeply and make us empathize with them.
3. Once again, really weird cops. Like.. Idk if this is some kinda running joke in Thailand, but the cops were hella weird in this lol. Touching important evidence with bare hands ✅ Bringing your suspect/ex-suspect/witness to all the crime scenes ✅ Bringing a potential suspect to live with you in your house (where he could potentially kill you)✅. It does get quite ridiculous at some points, but if you're willing to ignore some of the logic, this drama will be more enjoyable ngl.
OVERALL, despite the messy last two episodes, GBYFD really gives you a strong and solid horror with an atmosphere that sets it apart from a lot of BLs. The flaws are pretty obvious, especially in the final episodes, but they don’t completely erase how good the show was at its peak, which is why it still earns a 9/10 from me. I would defo recommend giving it a try!

Great potential for PoohPavel to showcase their talents
I loved this. I think shows with longer timeframes should follow what Goddess Bless You From Death does, which is to pace evenly per episode but also drop important plot points for the next episode to follow. My only complaint is how tiring it is to hear Pooh say 'P’Singha!' for so long. It’s so whiny. What I loved about the show is that calling it a romance series doesn't do it justice. Sure, it has romance in it, but the overall whodunit crimes and police drama outshine the romance, making it feel satisfying when it all leads up to the finale.
Overall, this is a huge milestone for the pair PoohPavel, and I hope they get more opportunities to do more series like this because they both shined perfectly in it.

Great plot, great execution
Loved the execution, I have not watched many thai BL horror dramas (only 1 to be precise) but this is definitely well executed one. The actors have done such an amazing job! I do have bit of a problem with the slow pacing towards the last 2 EPS but ig I'm just impatient?? Idk??😭 But overall a solid 8/10Was this review helpful to you?

Thrilling Horror That Keeps You Hooked
If you are looking for horror, case solving, and genuinely scary moments, give this a go.I started this show knowing only that it was horror, and it absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat. It was worth my time from start to finish. Every cast member delivers strong performances and truly deserves more recognition. The makeup and sound effects are outstanding, creating an immersive experience that made it hard to stop watching. I kept telling myself just one more episode.
The story focuses on a single case throughout the series, which can feel slightly repetitive at times in terms of the ghost and investigation. However, it never becomes boring because each cast member fully embodies their character and keeps the story engaging.

10/10 Overall
I really enjoyed this series, they had such amazing actors all through the series. There was crying, squealing, and laughter. I’m so glad I got to watch this from the beginning to end. I don’t know if anything else can top this series for 2025/2026 year but we’ll find out. Thank you to the production team and actors for your hard work on making this series so good. I hope you all have a wonderful break and come back making many more wonderful series. Can’t wait to see what we get for the 2026 series. Was this review helpful to you?
