This drama started out solid. I was super hooked for at least the first 5 episodes. The two leads had fantastic chemistry and it was unique how the leads had already started liking each other from the beginning. Around episode 20 however, I began skipping around because it began to bore me with the same tropes over and over again. The second half was absolutely frustrating, and I ended up skipped around 6 episodes towards the end altogether.
That said, this drama is worth a watch if you have extra time on your hands and don't mind skipping around. Also, this drama doesn't seem to be subbed anywhere so watching raw would be your best bet.

Initially the story was o.k. Felt interesting and continued watching but I could nit past 20th episode.  As the episodes went on,they start to get ridiculous. The story line gets repeating with Ming Lang mother going bersek with ZLY. It keeps going in cycle with the blaming game going one from one episode to another with repeating consequences. The story starts to get disconnected with illogical scenes especially the role of Ming Lang father. The problem with many screenwriters nowaday are they lack research and they merely forced some situations ir scenes to get the story going without any consideration. Looks like good quality writers who make good research are rare nowadays. Viewers are getting more sophiscated and writers need to buck up with this trend. Overall this drama is not worth watching as it is just poorly planned and written.

Overall, the drama had great moments. The mother in law theme, the sibling rivalry, and the psycho girl obsessed with Hawick - all good themes. I didn't like how it dragged on and got old with the themes. Also, predictable on those themes. I thought the ending felt rushed because they spent too much time of those other themes.

I didn't like the main actress at all. She's beautiful but there is no acting ability on her part. She looked like a fragile doll and acted so just like - sitting there just looking pretty. Every actor did their part in the movie - loved the villian Wang Zhi - she was great! I loved hating her character. Then there's the friend - Li Sierra - she added a great role to be Zhao Zanilia's voice and opinion. Of course, the reason why I chose to watch this movie was Hawick Lau. He's such a great actor - crying, pleading, and smiling throughout the movie - which made me feel his anguish and frustration! I think this is one of his best looks - so good looking!

Not one of my favorite dramas - don't want to watch a again.

One word Bored

Drama starts with tragedy ,not much love scenes , mother in law accused all the time at her daughter in law and husband get trapped between not able to take either of the side because he loved both of them so only try to make them undestand . Because of this situation get worse and ultimately she left him . At very last episode they came together . So basically in whole drama there was not much romantic scenes , Totally bored story .

Too long drama not much too show even cast not felt like they were connected with the characters.

Telenovela-like c-drama

This drama started out good and interesting. The way i feel about it is like watching those telenovelas with evil mother-in-law and other girl trying to get your man using every means possible. It's interesting at first and moves in quite a pace that makes me want to hit that "next episode" button. However, it goes downhill at around halfway. It gets boring and the evil-ness gets a bit too much to handle. I started watching this for Hawick Lau and Zhao Li Ying and they both did quite okay, but not great to make the performance or the drama memorable years from now. OST is just so-so, not one I would shazam and put on my Apple Music playlist. Rewatch value? No way I would put myself through something like this for the second time! Exruciatingly painful!

I wouldn't recommend you watch this drama, except if you really really want to see the two main leads (or any other actors/actresses in this drama) or you are into those "telenovela" like plot. Other than that, don't waste your time and stay away from this one.

Ok, so my experience with this drama was interesting; I watched the first 19 episodes which were quite good but I got annoyed with the OTT antics of the antagonists: the crazy, shrill mother in law, the psycho, hysterical 2nd female lead/love rival, the slimy, greedy and very many business rivals and finally the cowardly, pseudo-cool big brother. So at that point I decided to give it a rest, but I wasn't willing to drop it because I could see that there was something there, I just had to refresh myself and come back to it later ( the large episode count was also very off putting )
I took a break, watched Goblin and Marriage Not Dating ( I watched both within the space of a week!) and then I picked The Wife's Secret up again.

I started off watching on fast forward from episode 20 to episode 30, then gradually without even realising it I stopped fast forwarding and was fully engaged. I do admit that you have to suspend logic sometimes in this drama, the melodrama and illogical decision making of the characters was not realistic and was frustrating in a lot of instances.

However, this drama has a solid story, it explores family relationships juxtaposed with romantic relationships, it explores blood ties juxtaposed with ties that a person chooses themselves, it explores the relationship between parents and their children, mothers in law and daughers in law, it explores the dynamics that play out when a child discovers that they are adopted and most importantly it explores the meaning of true happiness, is it money? business success? or having family and people around you who love, accept and value you for who you are not what you have or can do for them?
This drama explored all these issues and answered them.

The drama has overall, one of if not the best character development I have seen in any drama, the character arc for most of the cast is very satisfying and logical; even those characters I disliked so much in the beginning are fully realised by the end of the drama, there is a strong sense of most characters coming full circle and applying their experience to improve themselves or to come to terms with issues that they struggled with in the beginning of the story.

I've read some reviews where the two leads are criticised for not having much chemistry; I fully agree that the OTP had very little on screen chemistry, but I think that's because it's not that kind of drama, although the love story is at the centre of the drama, the surrounding family circumstances are integral to the progression of this love story and vice versa. So overall I would say that this is a story about family, the family you are born to and the family you choose along your life journey.

The story
is a typical mother of the son hates his gf and don't want them to get married especially when the gf doesn't have any money anymore. It is most about romance the story was oke i'd recommend it if you are bored and love the main leads.

Acting/cast
I love zhao li yang she is a great actress so i liked her in this and hawick is a good actor especially when he has to play the rich type. The rest of the cast was oke i didn't like the brother (li tian ) and the girl (ning xia) they were annoying.

Music
Was oke nothing really special

Rewatch
I don't think i will rewatch this because it was a bit draggy but i think i will watch some cute scenes back.

Overal
The drama was good i think you will love it more if you like the main leads
