I would like to begin with the fact that I really enjoyed this drama, it was one of those truly light-hearted romantic comedies. Being 33 episodes I reckon it was a suitable length without any draggy parts and I thoroughly enjoyed the cute moments that was offered. However I must say I didn't read the books beforehand so I don't know how it was in comparison to the originals. Despite that I still loved it.

The story was the typical rich handsome boss and normal/poor girl story, despite it being quite cliche it still had its own cheerful vibe to it which made it seem more unique and special. Being a romantic comedy of course there has to be a love triangle and thus there's the appearance of the 2nd female lead who you would hate but in the end grow to like. The nice thing about this drama is that you would love not only the mains but also the side characters of the drama as they bring alot of joy along with the mains. There isn't much business problems or family issues as I mentioned above as it's a drama focused on the relationship of the boss and the girl.

Acting/Cast I'll be honest a part of the reason why I started this is because of the main leads. I've seen alot of dramas acted by both leads and always ended up enjoying their works so seeing them together in this new drama was a nice surprise for me.
ZhaoLiYing is such an adorable actress and I've became a solid fan of her after the 'Legend of Luzhen'
ZhangHan is also one of my favourite actors, needless to say because of his good looks but also I've seen many of his works including the Queen of SOP.
I also thoroughly support the rest of the cast as they brought so much extra joy to this drama.

The soundtrack nice and enjoyable as I loved hearing the opening and endings, however I haven't been that intrigued to download any of it yet.

This was such a cute and enjoyable drama that I would definitely rewatch in the future. Being 33 episodes I might just skip through once in a while.

Overall this is one of the best modern romantic dramas of China, as I usually just watch chinese historical dramas however this one is defs an exception. It was well made with a great cast that complemented the whole story.
So I recommend this to someone who is looking for some happy sweet and light-hearted as a break from a sad heavy plotted drama.

To start off, I just have to say that I probably rated this a little biased because I just thoroughly enjoyed it!

As other reviews have mentioned, the story is definitely your typical, cliche rich man and poor girl. But, there was something different about this story. I couldn't pinpoint it out for you, you'd have to see for yourself, but it was just so refreshing! I think the reason might be because it wasn't as stressed or emphasized. I mean yes, you can clearly see he's rich and she's just a little mere accountant's assistant, but Feng Teng wasn't a complete jerk like you see in so many other classic dramas like this, like BOF for instance.
What I liked the absolutely MOST about this drama, and the reason I think I'm so in love with it even though it was rather simplistic, is because it seemed kind of REAL to me, and there was no real hindrances. I mean of course there were problems for the main couple, and a love triangle in the beginning. But there was no character I ever truly hated, not even the second female lead in the first half. I didn't have the same pure hatred for her as I've had in other dramas, and I grew to really love her in the end. It may not have a whole ton of complex plot-twists and things like that, but it never died for me. It was 33 episodes and I finished it within days. It never dragged for me, not really, and there was just enough cute moments through out the whole show to keep me squeeling.
I swear to you, the amount of times I SQUEELED is HUGE. I can't even begin to tell you how surprised I was at how many times I legitimately squeeled and clapped my hands. I am not this type of person, but I could not suppress them!

As for the acting, I'm not sure. This was actually my first Chinese drama, I'd never explored the C-dramas before, but I think I just might now. I dabble more with Korean and Taiwanese dramas.
Zao Zanilia was absolutely adorable. She took a silly, ditsy character and turned her into a complex, three-dimensional real human being. Typically characters like Shan Shan are annoying, and their lack of passion (and a back-bone) usually irritate me to no end. Zao Zanilia (and the scrip writers) gave Shan Shan an edge; she may not have always screamed and fought, but she had her own way of dealing and handling these situations.
Zhang Han was, of course, sizzling HOT. I was actually wavered by him when I first started watching the show. He's one of the cutest actors I've seen, I'm not sure why. To be honest, my only shallow complaint is that his legs are just so skinny. But maybe that's a Chinese trend or is typical? I'm not sure, I'm not proficient in this area, like I've said before I haven't seen any others. His acting was pretty on par, my only complaint there is a sometimes lack of facial expressions. Although it wasn't in his character to be so blatantly affected, or to show it, but still. I swear his eye brows never moved... but he was still cute, none the less.
As for the supporting actresses and characters, they all did swell. I was engaged in their stories as much as the main couple, even if they didn't get a whole lot of show time (because this story was more focused on the main couple - which I really liked actually).

The music wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. There is a song or two that I think I'm going to download though, very cute, and they were definitely put in the right places. They weren't too extremely loud or annoying, either. Which was nice!

To be honest, I want to start rewatching it RIGHT NAO. I like this too, and hate. It's contradicting I know... I haven't felt this way about a drama in a LONG time. It was so heart-warming and just so cute, I mean I think this is probably the cutest drama I've seen in a long time, and not cute in an over-the-top, annoying way. The story was smooth, never slow, never fast, just a steady pace that drew me into the characters and into their world. I'm still reeling now... I don't want it to be done, I think I might cry... WAHH~ ;3;

Overall, because I was so absolutely in love with this drama, I have given it a 10. I know, it lacks a lot of things a normal 10 drama should get, but for me, I'm giving this one a 10 not because of the technicalities, but because of how I feel. Not many dramas can make me feel this way, but this one has accomplished just that, so I must tip my hat to this drama. I'm glad my first Chinese drama wasn't a bad experience!

I whole-heartedly recommend this drama to those looking for a refreshing, cute, innocent drama that's not over-the-top or annoying, but has just the right amount of serious matter, realistic relationship hindrances, and lots of fun and laughing! I can't help but to feel like I haven't said enough, that I'm missing something... but this is long enough!
Just. Watch. It. :D

I'm not particularly fan of romantical dramas but when it comes to Taiwanese and Chinese dramas that's my favorite genre ! I decided to give this drama a try for only two reasons , firstly because I'm a big fan of Zhao Zanilia and Secondly for the romance as I enjoy Chinese romance dramas !

I won't say that this story is innovative but the drama was really heartwarming that's why I enjoyed it that much !

The main couple is so cute , it's a real pleasure to see them joking and smiling together and see their love growing and growing ! At first Feng Teng was very cold and distant but as he is in process to know and understand Shan Shan's feelings he started to open his heart little by little to her . be careful //// SPOILER///// About their couple I think there is only one thing missing , we did not get to see them doing activities together like the ones that a couple would do : going to cinema , on an amusement park , eating at a restaurant , travelling ... that kind of things so i'm a bit disappointed that I did not see them having more fun , they were only eating , eating and eating again or staying at home ! ///// END OF SPOILER/////

Now I'm gonna talk about the characters :

Shan Shan is an adorable and cheerful girl , as her friend Liu Liu said she never complains when she is facing some problems whether with Feng Teng or work and maybe that's what I love the most about her !

Feng Teng as I've already said he is a bit cold but he only needs to be loved , and when it's the case he is the most adorable guy in the world , he knows how to take care of his girlfriend and how to please her ! And I admit I'm guilty , I love when the guy is cold outside but just so sweet inside !

For the other characters I really appreciated Liu Liu who always gives precious advice to Shan Shan , Feng Yue who is an adorable sister to Feng Teng and still encouraging her Ge Ge and Shan Shan stay together , Zhenf Qi : the womanizer hehehe but actually it was only a facade to hide himself .

I really want to write a paragraph about Li shu , to be honest the first time I saw her ( she made her first appearance in ep 4 or 5 , don't remember well ) I found her very confident of herself & arrogant, so yes my first impression of her was good ; I mean that I was right about her true intentions ; I don't like people who backstab their -so called- friends however fortunately she evolves and learns from her mistakes !

About the Music : I really enjoy the opening but the ending did not catch my attention and truthfully I always skipped that song , as for the background music it was just so so !

So I recommend you this drama if you're looking for a good Chinese romantical drama and if you're in the mood for something light to relax a bit !

It's my fist time writing a rewiew for MDL so I'm sorry if I made mistakes .

Let me preface this by saying that I had just watched Playful Kiss before this, so watching ANOTHER ditzy main female character immediately after already grated on my nerves. Then the first episode had such weirdly fast-forwarded cinematography that I got motion sickness. Yet, I decided to power through.

I have no words to describe how problematic this was, from the relationship itself, to the way gender and racial stereotypes were portrayed.

Let me start with the quickest: there was a scene where the characters are in the UK, having fun with a lot of white people. Suddenly, they run into some gangsters, who just happen to be the only black people in the show so far. The racism couldn't be more obvious.

Second of all, the way that traditional roles are reinforced in this are subtle, but alarming. There's so much talk about how a woman is still worth marrying if she's infertile, and to me this topic was never addressed sufficiently. There's also a lot of romanticizing of "woman sacrifices career to be a wife." I'm overall really unhappy about the way women are portrayed in this drama—they're either gold-diggers, gossipers, dependent and overthinking, obsessed with a boy, or obsessed with fulfilling the perfect child-bearing wife role. There was honestly not one strong woman role I was happy with.

I hated the main male character. Aside from my superficially saying that he visually does nothing for me, I just thought his personality was one of the most boring and bland I've ever watched. Firstly, he has some creepy and stalkerish tendencies, and I'm sure a lot of things he did as a boss to his employee could be seen as an abuse of power. As the show went on, he honestly got worse (as a boyfriend)—he never seemed to try and see things from Shan Shan's perspective, and he became increasingly controlling. He kept trying to use his money to get her things without her knowing—as if he didn't trust her to make her own life decisions. He kept so many secrets and justified them saying it was for her own good. And worst of all, he completely disregarded her career and kept saying things like "that's my decision" and "it's not up for discussion" when it was supposed to be HER DECISION in the first place,

Add to that the fact that C-Dramas do this weird thing where they make the main characters initiate skinship and pair it with slow-mo and romantic music BEFORE I even had any reason to ship them, and all I got was a boss doing weird physical things to his employee when the extent of their relationship was him watching her eat through his office window.

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Shan Shan either. This has something to do with the way the drama was filmed, but half of the entire show is her whining in internal monologues. So much of this show is advanced by Shan Shan "accidentally overhearing something," then overthinking it in a lengthy internal monologue while she pouts externally. As cute as she is at some points, I got SO tired of hearing her voice. MOST of the sub-plots are brought about because she needs validation from Feng Teng about their relationship, or that she needs to do something to "be good enough for him." And nobody ever tried to convince her otherwise, or argue that she was good enough. As the show went on, she also started standing up for herself less and less, and I almost ripped my hair out hoping that she'd say something about making her own life decisions, but she never did.

Overall, this was a tiring and dragging plot, filled with lots and lots of problems. The only character I never got TOO annoyed with might be Zheng Qi, who seems thirty times more fun to be around than the boring male lead.

To be honest I have mixed feelings about this drama. The first episodes were soooo good and I was anticipating how the story would evolve. But somewhere around the middle it started dragging too much. The ending was also quite hurried.

But what I liked about this drama was that it was done kind of slice of life -style and main leads had good chemistry. At first when they presented Shan Shan's character I cringed because I though "oh no, again dumb lead who acts overly cute." But after couple episodes I was melted by Shan Shan's cuteness and positive attitude. The actress is really a pro. I'm afraid same can't be said from our male lead. Feng Teng is eye candy, but the actor couldn't quite convey the feelings of this character. Sure, Feng Teng has cold personality and he doesn't easily show emotions but when the actor needed to represent deeper emotions I felt something lacking. However a total plus is that he could act jealousness really well and I was laughing out loud at his cute silliness in various scenes.

Side roles were enjoyable too. I didn't like Li Shiu's character from when she arrived to the picture but she started growing on me and I found myself cheering for her in the end.

A definite plus is that main leads mostly dealt with everyday problems of a normal couple and there weren't any specific villains and overboard damsel in distress acting from Shan Shan.
And I liked ending and opening, they really convey the feeling of this drama which is warm and positive.

Overall, a great romance drama about old subject; poor girl falling in love with rich man. There wasn't any terrible cliche scenes and main leads romance was funny and sweet.

Time I will never get back

I'll start by saying that since this was from 2014, the production value was grainy and the dubbing (why do they insist upon doing that? These actors can't possibly have worse voices than the people dubbing!) was truly awful in some places.
WRITING: So many people said they found this fun and funny. I didn't find it to be either of those things. Full of stereotypes (which I can't lower the rating on, because they are in every Asian show), so many of the characters were unlikable and/or irritating. I'll address the main two: I found the character of Shan Shan to be the epitome of a silly, not-too-bright, ditzy woman, and she didn't seem to improve over the life of the show. The writers had her having internal dialog through the whole thing, which was very irritating, and I never could understand why Feng Teng liked her. Which brings me to Feng Teng: this character, for me, was completely one-note. I didn't necessarily have problems with his "stalker-ish" tendencies as others did, (I have to admit, I thought that him having lunch "with" her on both sides of the window was sweet), but he was not very nice to anyone, and the way he talked to his employees would have the human resources department very busy fending off lawsuits. Part of it, I think, was I didn't find him physically attractive, but since I tend to find attractiveness even more in a person's actions, I REALLY didn't find him attractive. All the women were fawning all over him, but it must have just been because he was rich. All of the scenes of the workplace made every female employee look like she was only working to 1) meet a man; or 2) gossip. And there were a LOT of scenes at work. This show would have benefitted from a good editor and half as many episodes.
ACTING: A lot of overacting was being done by people (perhaps trying to make the show seem amusing) and in the case of the male lead, a lot of under-acting - he had one expression and was not able to generate anything using his face/eyes/body. He was very wooden. There were numerous scenes where it felt like there were pauses waiting for someone to remember what their lines were.
MUSIC: I don't remember it.
RE-WATCH: Are you kidding me?!

I admit it -- I LOVED IT! Such a sweet story with tender kisses and a romantic plot. I watched it in 2 days, after which I felt I am walking on the cloud nine. I felt like Cinderella myself. The drama left me at peace, with warm feeling, smile and few verses that were so smart, I can't forget them. The kissing scenes were tender, and almost real. I was left with impression I just watched a real story drama. The main leads had the chemistry together, but Zhang Han left me with his image of not only a great Boss but a wonderful husband image. My most memorable and romantic moment?.... the way he watch her eat her lunches through his office, while she was unaware he was watching... the fact how he copied her, ate with her and smiled at her was tastefully done. For me it was one of those things that hit my heart and stayed there.... I like him as an actor a lot.

I don't know why I decided to watch this but I did anyways. Oh... wait! It was a video on youtube of cute compilation scenes that got my attention!

I must say, I absolutely enjoyed this drama. I guess it's biased to say it's great and I love it although some may not like it cos the story isn't really life-like, It's all cliched and is somewhat of a fairy tale. I don't care about that. This story was a bit different from others. It felt real to me. I don't know how to explain it but the cuteness from this will melt you! When I began watching, I wasn't sure if I should continue but I'm glad I did and once I decided to, I couldn't stop watching.

I didn't really dislike anything about this drama. I loved it in fact. I'll give a few reasons why. About the girl, Shan Shan. She's like a small town girl who didn't grow up in riches and all that. When she moved to the big city, that all changed when she met "Big Boss" Feng Teng. I loved her. She was adorably cute, simple and wasn't like other typical females in other dramas. She had her own principles when it was about certain things, she was tough and brave. (Although she had her vulnerable moments) She didn't let people walk all over her, didn't let people's opinions about her changed who she was, didn't let the fact she was dating a rich president of a company changed her into a greedy sly fox or anything like that. She was still the same old simple Shan Shan who loves to eat. Haha~ and I mean this girl LOVES TO EAT!!!!
Still, what I loved the most about this drama was that it felt real to me. It wasn't too complicated and full of drama like most, yet it wasn't easy and simple either. In between maybe~ This was the type of drama I was looking for. It was fluffy, cute and just perfect. This drama melted my heart, mind and body all together into nothing. I swear... every time Feng Teng touched Shan Shan, caressed her face, pinched her cheeks, and kissed her, I died. I was screaming in almost every freaking episode!!!!!
It wasn't just them. The other couples too, but mostly the main couple~
Cuteness overload!!!!!

The cast was awesome! I didn't hate any of the characters to be honest. They were all great. Apart from one of the characters, I never liked her in the beginning, but she changed a lot. I didn't hate her, it's just that she let her emotions get the best of her. I liked her later on though. You'll know who I am talking about when you watch this. It was my first time seeing these actors in a drama before so I can't really say they sucked or anything like that. It was a damn good drama and they were great. Zhang Han was so damn hot and Huang Ming was cute. The female actresses were looking great and Zhao Zanilia was the most adorable of them all~ Hehe ;)

The music was good. I even heard a song from the City Hunter OST. Haha~ It was good. :D

Overall, it was a great drama (for me) and I definitely will watch it again soon! I recommend this. If you like adorable, fluffy romantic dramas with a bit of drama and will make you laugh, cry, but mostly squeal cos of all the cuteness, then this is the drama to watch. I was never bored. It was so good that I finished this in 24 hrs. It didn't drag nor was it fast paced. It was just right.

That's all I have to say~ GIVE IT A SHOT. It won't hurt. You may even like it ~ (^_^)/

This author! Because OMG hook it up to my veins and drip feed me more of these young girl romantic dreams. Fill them with stoic, mysterious, cold yet warm, brilliant, gorgeous men and their hopelessly falling for the sweet, normal, innocent and kindhearted girl. Slow burn romance at its best!

I didn't know I had a craving for this type of drama. Haven't really consumed anything like this since I was a teenager. However after watching Love O2O I jumped onboard this drama and finished it within 2 days. I think it's much more swoonworthy even though the production value is much lower.

The acting is really good and the chemistry between all the actors is fantastic. There is a long buildup that pays of well once things hit the boiling point. I enjoyed that the story mostly focused on their relationships twist and turns and her reasoning behind her actions.

The female lead character is annoyingly naive at points and has low self esteem for a very, very, very long time before she grows and matures. It's charming, but I sometimes almost thought she was afraid of her own boyfriend. On the other hand, the male lead character as icecold on the inside and secretly warm on the inside is such a classic trope of the rich mysterious man that falls for the poor innocent girl. Having loads of squee moment due to that, I won't complain.

This story also feels real because of the support casts different types of relationships and development. The side plots didn't take over, but were nicely interwoven with the main story. The pacing was good and slow but never boring. I do love my so called "slow burn" romances where it takes time for one or two persons to melt and fall, because when they fall they fall so much harder and the payoff is enormous.

Music was quite good and didn't feel to repetitive. The directing was in the OK range, I had a feeling the support actors showed a lot of their own personalities while portaying their characters. The cutting was at points so terrible I had to rewind and even check other sources to see if I didn't have a broken and faulty copy. I'm actually wondering about a scene in episode 27, when he kisses her forehead and a string of snot from his nose makes them both crack up laughing... What's up cutter/editor? Fell asleep? XD

My heart wants to give this an overall 9.5. But it lands on a good 7.5. However, if you are looking for something swoon and squee worthy, a focus on romance, and watching your teenage pink dreams of romance delusions, then you will, as I did LOVE THIS!

Even if I juste rated it 7.5, I liked this drama. It was sweet and cute, made me laugh and cry. Let me tell you why I didn't rated it higher.

Story : The story is a typical romantic drama. Nothing new here : the rich heir and the not so bright girl fall in love. It is a story we've seen millions of times and it's getting a bit boring. However, taiwanese and chinese romances are particularly sweet, maybe because it feels more natural. The story dragged a bit towards the end, I think it would have been good without 4 or 5 episodes.

Acting/Cast : I liked the actors, even if it was my first time watching a drama they were in (I'm more of a taiwanese dramas fan). The thing that upset me a bit is that their voices always seemed to be dubbed when they were outside. Feng Teng seemed a bit too passive sometimes. Some of you may call him quiet, but to me it's more like no reaction at all. Well, see for yourselves! As I've never seen this actor it may just be his way of acting and not his character.

Music : The music was good but none of the songs really hit me. But they fitted perfectly at the moment!

Rewatch value : I don't think I'll watch it again, it was long, but who knows?

Overall : This was a good drama and I don't regret watching it even though some things may have been better. Don't be discouraged by everything I said and watch it!

I desperately wanted to love this drama. I adored Love O2O and after reading all the reviews for Boss & Me, I was excited to watch it. It was very disappointing to find that it was 33 episodes with only 2 episodes where interesting things happened the entire time.

The first episode felt very rushed but after that the whole drama felt slow. I skipped through so much because of how boring it was. While there were a number of cute scenes, it wasn't enough to maintain the drama. The last few episodes were quite interesting and cute but getting there was such a struggle.

The Story:
Honestly, the majority of the plot can be summed up as 'girl doesn't know what her boyfriend means/is thinking but never asks him (and seems to ask everyone else).' Miscommunication is a staple in drama but this was so incredibly dull and boring and played to the point of stupidity.

The fact that Shan Shan is adorable is all that kept me watching it at first. By episode 8 I was fairly certain I wanted to drop it and at that point stuck it out purely out of stubbornness. There were some storylines that were a little more interesting but even so this drama was simply not a hit for me.

It was my first time to give a 10/10 for a Cdrama and this definitely deserves it! I initially wanted to watch this because of my love for Zhang Han and it really made me curious why it has such a high rating here on MDL. All I can say, believe the hype whenever it's high in this website! I understand now why they said that Zhao Liying gained 10 pounds in this show. I really enjoyed all of the eating scenes though! But what was I saying, I enjoyed every bit of this drama.

This drama never made me feel like it was a chore to watch since every episode of this 33-episode made my heart happy (and maybe even sad). It has the right amount of fluff and a bit of angst which is the formula for me of being a good drama. It's already a given that I enjoyed Zhang Han's Feng Teng and Zhao Liying's Shan Shan but all the other actors played their characters so well. Special mention goes to: Shan Shan's Dad, Liu Liu (Shan Shan's cousin), and Feng Yue (Feng Teng's sister) are my faves! For the music, I enjoyed the opening theme sang by Zhang Han and also Roll the Dice as an insert song. The only aspect that I didn't give a perfect score to was the rewatch value since watching this at least once is already good enough. On the whole, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to be in for a good Cdrama to watch and maybe to some who haven't been introduced to the world of Cdramas yet, this is a good one to try!
