phoenixtearz9 wrote: @amrita... I just went and looked at your dropped list, and there are 3 of them I can't believe you dropped because I enjoyed them greatly, so I am curious as to why you dropped them: The Greatest Love, Hong Gil Dong, and Hotaru no Hikari

I can answer both questions at the same time: I dropped The Greatest Love (and City Hall) because of Cha Seung Won. I apologize to all his fans, but there's something about the man which makes me literally cringe.
To use RainFlower's wise criterion of hot guys, you see how the reverse can be just as powerful. :P

I dropped Hong Gil Dong because:
-it didn't make me laugh
-it didn't make me think
-it didn't make me fall in love
-I'm an anti fan of the Hong Sisters

Finally, I dropped Hotaru No Hikari simply because I got bored with it. But this is one of the dramas I may pick up again in the future: I like the cast and the premises are interesting enough. So, not all hope is lost. ;)
Excuse me for threadjacking. Amrita! I could use your help. Over in this thread: Excuse Me! I think you dropped something. I am trying to clear up my plan to watch list, and would appreciate anyone's help. :D

Hotaru no hikari is not one of my THAT fav dramas .. Sometimes i like a drama that I can relate with .. but for some reason i thought they could have worked more on the romance side .. that was the only thing that was lacking but it is funny... one of the j dramas that i thought was funny lolz

Ditto...I'm 5 yrs into my Asian drama addiction, but realized after the 1st yr. I had to be more discriminating. My many reasons 4 dropping have been covered by the previous 3 pages of comments. BTW, your certainly not alone in even dropping dramas u liked but became stale 4 some reason or another.

Do you think it's the drama's fault or is it us who simply can't be bothered with them now and then?

Ahhhh I see.. Hong Gil Dong still remains one of my all time favorites, but I can understand some of your reasons... and I am a fan of Cha Seung Won, just not a HUGE fan...

I'm with Phoenix on this!

I like the Hong Sisters.
Hong Gil Dong was a great drama (to me)
City Hall is one of my all time favorite dramas...and So is Greatest Love ...but then I don't have a squick factor when it comes to CSW.

...I understand what Rita is talking about though because I have that same squick factor with Matsumoto Jun and Gu Hye Sun. But if CSW does not bother you, those two dramas (CH and TGL) are very very well worth your time.

and Rainflower! I very much approve of your criteria. I actually think mine is much the same. Acting/hot guys/writing/hot guys/directing/hot guys! That is part of the drama watching fun!

Oh Asia how I adore your 'reverse objectification'. Here in America it's women...over there it's men.

Rita twiny!!!!!!!! ... I did the same for the same reasons. Dropped Hon Gil Dong, and never even bothered with City Hall and The Greatest Love, although I have heard good things about both dramas, but I wish I wouldnt be biased towards Cha Seung Won.
I'm ahead of you in Hotaru no Hikari!! I already picked it back up and finished it *phew* that took patience hahaha. :p

Which only demonstrates that Asian have a better sense of marketing, when it comes to selling dramas. Everybody knows that a good 80% of the drama viewers are women, so why the heck should we care how gorgeous and scantily dressed the women are?
Needless to say, I too agree on the hot guys thing. Amen. :D

P.S. I like Matsujun! I'm not a fangirl by far, but I like his child-like acting. Nothing is more subjective than taste in men. :D
