Estelll:
It'll take some time to get use to it for sure, since I've no idea about Thai history yet, but I'm sure I'll manage! My idea of a history lesson is watching a drama/movie first, and reading about the relevant real historical facts second -- or at the same time in some cases.

I had no idea about Thai history either, nor about King Narai's reign in the 1680s which is where 'Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat' was set, but the lakorn makes it SO EASY to follow. I ended up googling more of that era and of the historical figures after watching the show because I was so fascinated with the whole historical time period and it was all thanks to the show.

It's not a heavy or cumbersome show at all and there are lots of cute, light-hearted and funny moments so it's easy to watch. Am glad you're planning to check it out. It is different from all your Chinese or Korean historical but I'm sure you'll fall in love with the whole setting and with the main characters. :)

Wow! this is an awesome group. Thanks for setting this up! =)

Being a big fan of historical drama this is such a nice initiative.

Thank you so much for setting this up! I am a huge fan of historical dramas or history  in general!

Yayy!! This seems really interesting. I'll definitely be popping by to see what's new haha. Historical Dramas are what got me into my drama addiction in the first place so they have a special place in my heart :D

Great job and thanks again for this amazing initiative, @Estelll!

Thanks also to @Musical Veggies for the insightful and colourful sharing of the historical Thai drama. This is a fabulous idea, to provide insights into lesser known segments and dramas, hopefully bringing awareness to club members too!

I'll do my part by sharing about Hong Kong productions and for today, I'll talk about a martial arts drama which I had truly enjoyed back in the day with a strong FL to boot. It's true that HK used to be the pioneer and "market leader" in churning out historicals and wuxia since the 60s/ 70s through Shaw productions. These days, it's been overshadowed by China and South Korea. Nonetheless, there are still a few gems in recent years that provide very interesting source materials that inspire Chinese productions to release remakes.
Grace Under Fire

(TVB, 2011, 32 episodes)

Thank YOU for stopping by!! :)

I agree this is a great idea to talk about lesser known titles!

This is a fascinating recount of this drama, I also checked out the Wikipedia entries for Wong Fei Hung and Mok Kwai Lan to learn more about them, wow I always find it a marvel to know people like the martial arts heroes of legends actually existed!

I also updated the drama's entry here in MDL based on the info you shared, and added the pictures. I'm sure you know better on what other tags/other info to add, so check it out again tomorrow if you like after it gets approved to add them maybe!

By the way, is there anywhere to watch it with English subs in good quality maybe?

Thank you again!!

I'm looking forward to it! Btw, where do you suggest to watch it? Is there a source -fan subber- so I can watch it on their own site if possible to support them? I know it's on KissAsian & DramaCool, too, of course, but I always hope to find the source/the highest quality possible to watch dramas.

Thank you again!

By the way, which drama, if any, is the picture for this one from?

is there a historical drama that focus on slaying people to get the throne instead of turning the plot into political talks!?!?!

Fansubber's site is MUSE but I was told 'Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat' is also on Netflix (not sure which region). It is also apparently on Dimsum Entertainment and meWATCH. The MDL page for this lakorn has the links under 'Where to Watch'. Enjoy!
