The last Japanese movie you watched~!!(LIKED IT OR NOT)

First off, I rather like art films.  Art films work differently than the summer blockbuster where you watch and eat a giant tub of popcorn at the same time.  Art films can be challenging in both content and in style. 

That said, I hated Hot Gimmick. Level of misogyny:  Vicious.   Stylistically:  Ugly.  

Random thoughts:  Mamiya Shotaro is totally wasted here.  Netflix, with all your money and reach, this is the Japanese film you give us? 

I guess you could say that this film worked, in that I had an emotional reaction.  Just not a positive or thoughtful one.

To my mind, unfortunately, Netflix isn't a best friend if you are looking for Japanese fine quality content.

Hanamizuki - I watched this for Aragaki Yui, but still ended upp FFing a lot. Unoriginal, unimaginative and predictable. Not worth it

Just watched and and yea I would also recommend it. After learning about Japanese society last semester, this movie is pretty accurate; everyone is putting on a facade and its depressing.
