I like her simple look too :)

She never was averse to the idea, she just has problems reading the subtitles because they are too small and she says she's too slow.
Clearly, although she speaks some English she's far from fluent and my carefully laid out plan had to include the translation of the subs. Done so, spent the whole afternoon translating episode 1&2 (by the way, in doing so I came across little details of the dialogues which I didn't notice while watching. Hard work always has its rewards, it seems, hehe).
I was to read her the subs while watching in a sort of atrocious dubbing which made me foresee disaster.

And the beginning was such. I translated the subs, but saved them in the wrong format, so that my tv couldn't read them. After various unsuccessful attempts, in the end I had to load the english ones. I was already imagining myself not only "dubbing", but doing an improbable simultaneous translation. Yeah right, I'll be knackered. :p

But it went wonderfully! Not only my mom read the subs herself - clever girl - but she was hooked on episode 1. She's also harbouring a crush on Lee Seung Gi/Jae Ha, to which I had to place a clamp on and warn her that the guy goes through various degrees of jerkiness before a respectable woman can lose her heart on him.
She seemed unconvinced, but promised me to be cautious.

We have established a routine and she's coming over every Sunday to watch 2 episodes. She bid me goodbye with a very girly: "ohhhh, I'm so thrilled. Who knew Koreans were so beautiful?"

That is so cool!!! I don't have anyone to watch with...my sister who introduced me to KD lives too far away. I hope that you have a great time!!!

I neither have anyone^_^I wished someone whould live near me though.Btw do you mind telling me where you do live??
I have a few friends who watch dramas too but we don't usually watch any drama together or at the same time. Usually I watch a drama first and then recommend it to them and we talk about it as they watch it. My brother sometimes watches a few episodes with me of whatever I'm watching, though. :)

Thank you! :D
I like re-watching with someone, because it gives me the feeling I were watching it with the eyes of someone else.
I chose this drama because I knew my mom would empathize with the subject and the characters. She would never go past 15 minutes of a typical K-drama with abandoned children, scheming fathers/mothers or, worse, idols. She wouldn't understand it and I would have neither the ability, nor the qualification to explain. I myself landed on dramas through a pretty long process, started with my obsession with Asia since I was a child and my living in SE Asia for a while. All this I can't explain. I have no doubt she will like K2H; we will see if she's tickled enough to watch more when this is over. :)

It's not easy to get someone to watch with you, even when they are near. It took me almost 4 years to convince one out of dozens. lol

I gave my best friend the whole Secret Garden set with translated subs 6 months ago and she hasn't even started yet. I've lost hope. :p
Just spare my poor heart... kill me...
How can they write SUCH PERFECT characters??? I LOVE EVERY ONE of the characters, they are just so DAMN PERFECT!!!
So proud of the Princess (*Goongjun-nim, that was the most heart-squirming and touching confession EVER!!!! And she stood...*), Shi-Kyung, Hang-Ah, Jae-Ha....

I completely agree with you.
Do you think that if I keep my heart in the freezer from Friday to Wednesday it will hold on till the end of this drama?

I REALLY don't know... and I'm not so optimistic about mine...
i just saw the back of that wedding dress...it's a low V back...really nice...this has definitely got to be one of the finest wedding dresses i've seen in a kdrama
I'm confused, is it a wedding or an engagement party? lol Viki translated as engagement party...Do women use bouquets at engagement parties? lol
LisNoir wrote: I'm confused, is it a wedding or an engagement party? lol Viki translated as engagement party...Do women use bouquets at engagement parties? lol

I don't know about Viki, but on Korean they're DEFINITELY saying engagement, so it's not wedding (yakonshik - engagement, kyorun - wedding)...

And I'm giving up... WHAT THE HELL do the producers, actors, director, sound mixers and ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY who's making this DAMN drama want with my heart??? I already don't have enough tears to cry with the characters, my heart can't keep on beating THIS fast during every DAMN episode... JUST TELL ME THE ENDING, and then I'll watch this more relaxed... damn...
But I must confess, BongGU got beaten up even by the Queen Mama, I love his family...
Gosh... I hope everything's ok with everybody...
@Lis: in some cultures the engagement is a true bond, equal almost to the marriage itself because it marks the moment the promise between the two is done. I was a little confused too, and that's because they throw in western customs like white dress, bouquet and red wine which we associate to only marriage.
All doubts are dispelled when Jae Ha talks to Bung Gu and offers to postpone or cancel the wedding, which should be held in three months time. :)

P.S. I had a similar doubt with Playful Kiss, when they have that engagement party that looks like a marriage, remember?

This said, and just to keep on the bright side of the episode: in your opinion, was that Jae Ha kissing Hang Ah, or was it Lee Seung Gi kissing Ha Ji Won?
;)
