The ratings for it seems to be rather average in korea though, makes me fee sad because it is an excellent drama but will lose out on recognitions. Sounds like I am obsessed, but I would love for them to be recognised for this excellent drama. I will be rewatching it very soon..leaves me with a feeling of yearning and I still cant get over ep 19. But it's wonderful drama...i love all of the characters...the bad guys are really evil but realistically so, it;s a well-executed and very appealing series.
I am wondering whether ithis is about the politics in there...anyhow I still haven;t and will not recover from this drama. Ity;s my second top favourite at the moment, a unioqie drama. I want it to be recognised somehow, the writer sisters should be encouraged to write more suh good stuff.

so, i finally gave it a 10!!MASTERPIECE!!i love it!
this show, even until the last episode, gave me laugh, smile, cry, and shock..
it's really rare for me, to cry at smile at the same time, at the last episode of a drama..
*i love how bong gu still crazy as usual..how citizen still not fully agree with the marriage, how jae shin can move on yet still keep shi kyung in her heart; still and always will..
at first i thought it's too rushy..but then, i think…it means nothing if the war starts..they can never get married…so they have to end it before the war, and it will be weird if it's not in a rush…so yes, i think it's perfect!
and more important, bong gu went into prison thru ICC...means, shikyung didn't die for nothing.. :D *
well,,i don't like one thing here…the foreigners..i think they just pick any foreigners in korea…but it's forgiven because i LOVE the story and the other casts a lot <3
and about the rating.. does it any possibilities, that korean people still in trauma about last war?
i watched a video on youtube, 1N2D episode when they went to china thru sea and land..they passed a way where they can see north korea but they still in south..and they're look like very sad...and some of them remember about their family that they never met again after war..

Yes, I too think it didn't get the recognition it deserved for such a high quality drama. It's true that this drama is not everyone's taste, and cannot be. It's highly controversial, it's not "entertaining" in the literal sense of the word - unless our hearts never having a moment respite is our idea of pure entertainment - it's not cute, and its main plot, i.e. a North/South reunification is a scenario not everyone's ready to contemplate. Possibly it's absolutely utopic, but I'm glad it was used as the background to such wonderful characters.
I read somewhere that the N/S issue is what made this drama a "niche" show in Korea. It's obviously a serious matter for them, and so it should be, therefore I guess not everyone was ready to deal with it.
It's as if you asked me to watch an Italian drama about mafia (which I did, and it literally broke my heart).

I agree on everything, and on what you say about the foreign actors too, lol. With the exception of Bon Bon . hateful character, but very good performance by the actress - all the others were wooden and most of the time just unpleasant. It's not even their English (I mean, not all of them were Americans or British and were not such as characters either), but the acting itself.
I have wondered at some point if they were asked by the director to deliver their lines as if they were spelling them? In order to be better understood in Korea, perhaps?

haha..yes,,except bonbon...she is brilliant.. (except her gesture when *she got shot..but again, it's forgiven..haha*)
ah,,right...perhaps because of that..so that korean people can understand..

Lol, I have never had the... ehm... displeasure to see *how a body reacts when riddled with bullets in real life, so I am ready to give her the benefit of a good performance in that instance too. ;)
You have to be realistic about the foreigners... I mean how many great foreign actors do you think there are waiting around Korea to be discovered?? Especially in the numbers required for this particular show. Annoying... yes, but I forgive them. And just think, if you ever find yourself in Korea, maybe you can find a job as an extra :)
And I was perfectly satisfied by the ending. Cried tons (especially in 19), but not disappointed. I really wondered how the North-South thing was regarded by the average Korean though... it is a complicated issue... and ironically North Korea was making threats right in the middle of the airing of this show...
Just finished watching it and I thought it was a great drama! The effort the producers must have put into making the series deserves around of applause. The amount of foreigners they managed to have was surprising, even though their English was horrendous, doesnt mean that it should be criticised for it. Also the plot and the political intrigue throughout the series was strong and cleverly written - the amount of research the writers and producers did must have been a lot because it talks about national sercurity and protocols. Another round of applause. The acting was surprisingly good, Han Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi made a surprsingly good pair. And you can see Lee Seung Gi's acting has matured a lot since Shining Inheritance and Gumiho - loved him in this!!! I'm not usually interested in politics but this one really got me hooked and exceeded expectations. I thought it would be a romantic comedy at first, but this is anything but! LOVED IT ALL! Thought it had a strong plot than Rooftop Prince (liked that too)

Does it make a crazy fan that I'm actually annoyed RTP had the higher ratings? For me RTP doesn't deserve the high ratings, it's a very overrated drama.

Yeah, I saw that episode of 1N2D.
And I agree. I liked that some things seemed rush, as the situation needed it to be, yet other things like Jae Shin not making a sudden recovery *like in that other drama...*, and the other things you mentioned, seemed very realistic. <-
I think I'm going to say something which won't earn me many sympathies, but although I think Shi Kyung is possibly one of the most beloved and endearing characters ever written, and I am still mourning him, he was not the centre of the drama. Jae Ha was. Not even Hang A, who, just like Shi Kyung was the main vehicle to make the king grow and become the person he became.
Therefore, although I'll never repeat enough how much I'll miss Shy Kyung even if I watch this show 10 times, I have been fully invested in Jae Ha's story, from beginning to end. And it was a brilliant arc, thank to the writers AND thanks to Lee Seung Gi. Yes, I may be a little biased right now because, while Jo Jung Suk's performance was SO OUTSTANDING it's almost unbelievable, I fell in love with Lee Seung Gi nonetheless, to the point I'm contemplating taking up Gumiho again (it would be my fifth time. Really, Rita, you must be completely mad).
I'm also more than happy that Bung Gu ends up in jail. Death comes too swiftly, even if it goes through torture. And the part of Bung Gu which is most susceptible to pain is his ego, not his useless body. It doesn't matter that Club M wasn't destroyed as a concept, for we all know that once a war lord is killed, the next is ready to take up where the other left. It would have been completely unrealistic to have Bung Gu and his minions die and everything is back to pink in this world.

Yes, possibly you are a crazy fan, but then so am I. It annoys me too, no need to deny it. It annoys me in general when average dramas are raved about as if they were masterpieces, this is not the first time, nor will it be he last. Please, refrain from telling me it's a question of taste - I know it and I am NOT going to dispute taste, what right do I have? But quality is quality, otherwise we should say a Harlequin is a better product of art than, say, Henry James.
