Drama about a lead being "discarded" by another character for not being good enough?

Any dramas about a protagonist who is written off by or "discarded" by someone who is or was once important to them (like an ex-lover or friend) for not being enough in some way (money, intelligence, etc), where they journey to prove them wrong? Does not need to be the entire premise. Something like how Elle Woods in Legally Blonde or Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel as western examples. Can be any genre (drama, comedy, etc).

• Mr. Sunshine - His parents' slave master (who murdered them)... but really Korean society as a whole? Obviously the slave master was not important in the sense of "cherished".
