MBC drama "The Sun and the Moon" stepped over 30% and proved its might.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research's January 27th report, the January 26th episode of "The Sun and the Moon" scored a viewing percentage of 31.7%. This is 2.0% more than the previous episode's 29.7%.
"The Sun and the Moon" had an overwhelming victory on January 4th compared to other dramas that were aired at the same time. It doubled the ratings of other dramas by its second episode and broke through 20% by the third episode.
As the baton was passed over to the grown-up cast in the seventh episode, there were many questions regarding their performances, but the ratings continued to rise.
On this day's episode, female shaman Wol, also known as Yeon-woo (Han Ga-in) entered the palace as a protector from bad luck. She guarded the prince Lee Hwon's (Kim Soo-hyeon-I) side and exacted unexpected luck around him, but he didn't take the sleeping pill he was supposed to and asked who she was.
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's "Wild Romance" rated 6.4% and SBS drama "Take Care of Us, Captain" rated 8.5%.
I think this drama is overrated. Lets be serious, it's not such an extraordinary story. In an article it was compared with Jewel in the palace. Are you kidding me? That drama was a masterpierce. It represents the history, the culture of Korea. It was based on a true story. But this Moon/Sun.. what is this? A fictional love story. And they are considering that fooling around of mature actors, acting? Even The Princess' man was better than this drama. I think this industry is based only on luck not on performance.
I have high hopes for this drama...although the plot isnt the most original there are a few twists in there that wasnt expected and there isnt much faults with the acting - the teen actors were amazing and the adult casts are doing good job in following the teen actors. Really hope this turns out well with a happy ending and Wol ends up with Hwon :) LOOOVE THIS DRAMA!! Great drama for the start of the year!!

I agree. The teens were amazing and the adult ones are doing good too. If it continues like this, it maybe one of my favorite dramas from 2012 and might get a very high rating from me.
Han Ga In Wears Circle Lenses in The Moon Embracing the Sun

While normally, when viewers start accusing actresses of wearing circle lenses in traditional dramas, it′s not a good thing - but this time around, it′s turning out to be a compliment.
Han Ga In is currently starring in MBC’s drama The Sun and the Moon as Yeon Woo, the daughter of a ruined yangban household and who is also the shaman Wol, but recently, because of her big round eyes, she was suspected by some viewers to be wearing circle lenses. The misunderstanding came about because her pupils, were so round that they seemed to cover the whites of her eyes, like doll’s eyes.
A rep from Han’s agency J One Plus Entertainment stated, “She’s often mistaken to be wearing circle lenses when she isn’t. She often hears that she’s like the cat from Shrek because her pupils are so large.”

Han’s cute eyes are actually gathering interest among netizens who are comparing her eyes with those of the Puss in Boots from Shrek. Her pouting expressions are often parodied in resemblance of the cat.

The rep added, “Because it’s her first role in a traditional drama, Han Ga In is very determined. She’s never been through acting that strains her body, but for the first time in her life (although it is acting) she was slapped and had her hair pulled. In the scene where she was slapped so hard her head turned to one side, everyone around her felt their hearts sink.”
“The bath scene in episode eight was also difficult to film,” the rep went on. “Because she gets hot easily, Han Ga In rarely sits in tubs of water, but for the bath scene she went in the wooden tub in the middle of winter only wearing thin garments. After the shoot, she suffered from a fever that went up to 40 degrees Celsius. Please continue to show your support for the passion Han Ga In holds toward acting, and the way she works hard for the characters Yeon Woo and Wol.”
There are two dramas I'm waiting patiently for them to finish before I marathon them. This one and What's Up. I can't wait to start watching this. I love all the actors in it and am hearing such good buzz. I don't care if it's based on historical fact or if it is complete fiction. After all this is television and what matters to me is a well written, directed and acted story.
I love this drama ! The actors from the young cast are so well prepared for their parts. They are all acting beautifully (Kim Yoo Jung is amazing, and this young girl is only 13 ! ) They make those parts a challenge for older, more experimented actors ! I just went though the 8th episode, and I can't wait for the next. What makes me even more glad is that we got to see 2 episode a week !!! ^^
Why do I feel that this drama is going to give me a hell of a 2nd male lead syndrome.....
I just hope we get a happy ending..it's fictional so there is hope, right?
errr call me crasy but I don't know if I want a happy ending...
I just finished episode 8 and, honestly, if this drama continues the way it is going, I won't mind whichever ending we get. I'll admit, I've only felt stirrings of SLS with the younger cast, but it's only been 2 episodes since the adult cast has appeared, so I'll wait and see...
me too, for now I still miss the younger cast better...much, much better (except Lee Hwon)...but why do I feel that Wol's servant is more charismatic than the actual Wol ? But, like you've said, it's only been two episode...let's wait&see
I don't usually like historical dramas .. but this one is making me go crazy .. It's soooooooo good ..
