Prince Zhuan Xu of Xuan Yuan  

Abstract 

Someone walked into the yard and Xiao Liu covered his eyes and said in annoyance “I’m resting, don’t bother me!”

The person didn’t speak and just sat down on the pallet being so still that if it wasn’t that his body didn’t have the scent of medicinal herbs, Xiao Liu almost thought it was Jing who left and came back.

Xiao Liu moved his hands and squinted, then his eyed popped wide open. It was Xuan!

Xiao Liu stammered “You…what are you doing here? I already removed the bug. You ought to have been able to feel it. If you don’t believe me, I’ll prick myself right now.” Xiao Liu looked around for something to prick himself but Xuan stopped him with a smile.

“I know the bug has been removed. I’m here for another reason.”

“Another reason.”

“My Master wants to see you.”

Xiao Liu’s heart raced and his body weakened but he forced himself to smile “Why does your Master want to see me? And who says that if he wants to see me, I will go see him.”

Xuan stood up “My real name is Zhuan Xu. Xuan Yuan Zhuan Xu. I am the eldest grandson of the Yellow Emperor of the Xuan Yuan Kingdom. My Master is the Grand Emperor of the Gao Xing Kingdom.”

Xiao Liu didn’t know how to react so feigned fear “Such lofty personages! I am from Qing Shui Town and not a citizen of either Xuan Yuan or Gao Xing Kingdoms.”Xiao Liu griped “If I don’t go to Gao Xing in the first place, then I won’t need your protection.”
Xuan said “There are two more hours until sunset and I’ve give you until then to pack your bags and say farewells. We’ll leave before dark, and if you try anything….” Xuan waved his hand and the entire pallet shattered into smithereens and Xiao Liu fell on the floor.
Last time when Xuan was in Qing Shui Town, he always tried to use Xuan’s side to solve problems. This time he was here as Zhuan Xu, and he was a Xuan Yuan Prince. Xiao Liu stared at Zhuan Xu as he stood there with his hands behind his back, an unwavering authority in his eyes. Xiao Liu suddenly felt a sense of comfort. It was good that Zhuan Xu was like this 

Xuan said “When I was healing in Yang Valley, my Master came to see me. I told him about you and for some reason he was very interested and asked me to tell him every single detail about my interactions with you. After he heard it all, he asked to meet you. He specifically ordered me to come take you to Gao Xing to meet him.”

Xiao Liu immediately said “I’m not going!”

Xuan sighed “This is an Imperial Summons, you can’t refuse. Xiao Liu, don’t make it hard for me, I don’t want to hurt you.”

Xiao Liu immediately switched tactics and smiled “That’s fine, I’ll go with you to Gao Xing, but you have to give me half a day to pack and say my farewells.” Xuan knew Xiao Liu’s sneaky and slippery personality, and he also knew that a lot of people knew his real identity in Qing Shui Town so Xuan couldn’t stay long either.

Xiao Liu begged “I saved you twice. You are a Xuan Yuan Prince, how can you treat a savior this way?”

Xuan was too smart for that and laughed “The first time you saved me, it was after you plotted with Xiang Liu to ambush me. I let it go means I let you off the hook that time. If you didn’t plant a voodoo bug in me, then the second time wouldn’t have happened and there would be no need for you to save me. Ah Nian is the Gao Xing Princess, and you’ve insulted and shamed her multiple times. You know she is dying to kill you and I’ve been the one keeping her at bay. This time going to Gao Xing, if you fall into her hands and she tries to kill you, don’t you want me to protect you? Who is whose savior is not clear here. ”

Xiao Liu griped “If I don’t go to Gao Xing in the first place, then I won’t need your protection.”

Last time when Xuan was in Qing Shui Town, he always tried to use Xuan’s side to solve problems. This time he was here as Zhuan Xu, and he was a Xuan Yuan Prince. Xiao Liu stared at Zhuan Xu as he stood there with his hands behind his back, an unwavering authority in his eyes. Xiao Liu suddenly felt a sense of comfort. It was good that Zhuan Xu was like this – at times warm and personable, but then able to flip a switch and be cold and ruthless. It was only this way that he could have survived in the precarious position he occupied.

Xiao Liu stood up and went into his room to pack but his mind was racing. There was no way he was going to see the Grand Emperor. He can fool Zhuan Xu, but there was no way he could fool the Grand Emperor. But how to escape when Zhuan Xu came specifically to get him and brought a lot of men. Plus he was under Gao Xing orders and could immediately call Gao Xing troops outside town. And if needs be, he can call on his identity as the Xuan Yuan Prince and use Xuan Yuan troops nearby as well.

Xuan had finally revealed his identity as grandson of Yellow Emperor of Xuan Yuan and disciple of Grand Emperor of Gao Xing.
His manners looked quite different than before. His command to Xiao Liu in such authority is intriguing. What I mean is he did not really care how Xiao Liu had saved him before. By his in here I felt like he could speak upside to get what he want. It appeared cold and ruthless indeed. But it  made sense on how Xiao Liu had sided with Xiang Liu before saving Xuan with life. Therefore it is not surprising how Xuan or now Prince Zhuang Xu might think Xiao Liu was shceming. However, for me is it looks too obvious on Xiao Liu sudden change on helping Xiang Liu to help Xuan. Xiao Liu understood Zhuang Xu although she was in fear. She understood the political matters and wars that there was no simplicity and scheming and intelligence were needed. So she was sort of proud of him on how he was coming. But it's not because she would go with him. Xiao Liu surely did not want to meet Grand Emperor, who would able to figure out who she is after all. So Xiao Liu was sort of running away from her past.  

In the drama, however, there was the scene of Xuan talking Grand Emperor and Ruso about who could be this Xiao Liu is sort of making him misunderstood that Xiao Liu might be the son of one of five princes who were rebel with Grand Emperor before.This scene came before Zhuang Xu coming to take Xiao Liu to Gao Xing/Haoling.

clearly misunderstood..but it makes us understand CX character more.

My Analysis Part 5

The Longing In Xiao Liu's Heart Has Expanded

Abstract 

The carriage started to move and it was dark and Xiao Liu and Jing were tightly pressed together due to its cramped space. When Xiao Liu went to look for Jing, it was a spur of the moment thing. He wanted to see Jing put in a tight spot, he wanted to hear Jing try to talk him into going to see the Grand Emperor and it was no big deal. Xiao Liu wanted to hear all of this with his own ears, so that he could use this cruel method to cut the final threads of longing in his heart, so that he could leave without a care, so that he could let Wen Xiao Liu vanish forever without any sadness.

But when Xiao Liu said he didn’t want to go and Jing never asked why he would rather risk death to escape than go, nor did he pause to think about his own danger before agreeing to help him escape, the longing in Xiao Liu’s heart expanded instead of being severed.

The carriage had an accident allowing Jing and Xiao Liu to sneak out disguised into the messenger group from town. Fake Jing and Xiao Liu continued on in the carriage while Jing and Xiao Liu went back to Qing Shui Town with the messenger group.

The group continued on until dark when they returned to the inn for dinner before sleeping outside to guard the goods being transported. It was Summer so it wasn’t cold out at night. The entire town was asleep and the stars out were especially bright. Xiao Liu raised his head to look at the stars and wished for a duck neck to gnaw on to make this feel like a trip rather than running away.

Jing said “If you’re tired, go to sleep.”

Xiao Liu replied “It’s crazy outside of town, isn’t it?” Zhuan Xu thought he left town so was searching outside but in truth he was still in town.

Jing explained “Tomorrow the messenger group will depart for Gao Xing.” Xiao Liu laughed, Zhuan Xu would never think that he was running away from going to Gao Xing would then be headed to Gao Xing. Xiao Liu said to Jing “I thought you were so honest, who knew you were this sneaky.”

Jing said “Tomorrow will be exhausting, you rest leaning on me.” Xiao Liu looked up at the stars and said nothing. A raspy voice said “I. Am Shi Qi.”

Xiao Liu still looked up at the stars and said nothing, but after a few moments his head slowly tilted and lightly rested on Shi Qi’s shoulder. Shi Qi didn’t dare move as if afraid he would scare him away. Until he heard Xiao Liu sleeping did he slightly turn his head to gently look down on the sleeping Xiao Liu.

I am really happy to read Xiao Liu and Shi Qi tender moments again. Jing was very happy to be her Ye Shi Qi again. Even though they were in chao situation, he was happy. Xiao Liu might have thought Jing would not follow her. But his being fine with helping her escape and being with her by all himself had expanded her wanting him even more. In other words, their bonds just got stronger.
I really like this metaphor of her looking at the stars. Stars could be metaphor of "Stars turn on as the day turn to night". The way I understand it is when the dark times come there will be little stars to see the light. Stars metaphor could be "something written in stars", meaning destiny is already written, a force of nature we can't avoid,  and something we could not change.Stars can be metaphor for "Star Crossed Lovers" , such as Romeo and Juliet.

It's Safer To Hide In My Shell

Abstract 

Xiao Liu was thrown in the cage and he crawled towards Shi Qi “Shi Qi….Shi Qi…..”

Shi Qi’s eyes were tightly shut and he was unconscious. Xiao Liu examined him and relaxed, Shi Qi had used all his powers as one to fight with many so he depleted all his energy and was passed out. He had no internal injuries and was in no life threatening danger.

Xiao Liu’s legs were in excruciating pain and he leaned on Shi Qi and murmured to himself “If I knew it was so painful to run, I would have chosen not to run. But if I didn’t run, then I would have never known that you would do anything for me. But what shall I do now? It would have been better had you not helped me. I could have easily severed my longing and hope. Or when we were surrounded back there, it would have been better had you not told me to run away by myself. Xan Tian Er’s life is a struggle, and when a man thinks he is helping her by easing her struggle, he is putting her into a different kind of struggle. She is now struggling with the fear that he would leave her one day and she’s left struggling all alone again. Which of the two struggles is harder? Perhaps most women choose to struggle with a man easing her load, at least there is some happiness, some hope that the man won’t let go one day. But I’m not like that! I would rather be roasted all alone, struggle all alone, because at least my hands are free. Pain makes me hope for escape, a man’s hands make me fear he’ll let go. I would then reach out and hold onto him tightly, collect all the happiness tightly. Right now Xan Tian Er is able to save herself because I helped her. But who will help me? The Gods can help humans, but who will help the Gods? No one! I still feel it’s safer to hide in my shell. I’ve suffered so much in my life already, I don’t want to suffer more, I don’t want to be hurt more…..”

After a day and night, Xiao Liu and Shi Qi reached Five Gods Mountain.

Zhuan Xu ordered them tossed into the dragon bone prison. Xiao Liu smiled, his attempted escape really riled up Zhuan Xu. This infamous dragon bone prison isn’t meant for just any prisoner.

The jailers were very rough with Xiao Liu and purposely kicked his broken legs. But they were very careful with the still unconscious Shi Qi and gently place him in the cell.

Looks like Zhuan Xu WAs also very pissed Shi Qi helped Xiao Liu escape so want to make him suffer a bit so he learnED not to defy the imperial authority that is the Xuan Yuan Prince. But he was still wary of his Tu Shan last name so he only locked him up and didn’t add any further insult.

The cell door closed and Xiao Liu crawled over to Shi Qi, hitting him a few times angrily before snuggling by his side. It was pitch black in the cell and Xiao Liu closed his eyes as he felt the waves of pain from his leg hit him. Gradually he also passed out from the pain.

When Xiao Liu woke up, he didn’t know how much time had passed but he felt someone holding his hand. He moved and heard Shi Qi “Xiao Liu, you’re awake?”

“Yup, I’m in pain for laying too long.”

Shi Qi sat up and wanted to help Xiao Liu up but touched his leg and Xiao Liu yelped in pain. Shi Qi held him “You’re hurt?”

“Yeah.”

“Where?

“My legs.”

Shi Qi felt Xiao Liu’s legs and the pain lessened but Xiao Liu quickly said “You’re also injured, don’t use your powers.”

Shi Qi ignored him and touched the other leg and Xiao Liu yelled “Be good!”

Shi Qi said nothing and after he touched the legs Xiao Liu felt the pain lessen a lot. Shi Qi helped Xiao Liu up AND let him rest on his shoulder to be more comfortable. Shi Qi asked “You don’t want to see the Grand Emperor, is it because he will kill you if he sees you?”

Xiao Liu understood that Shi Qi was not trying to probe but needed to know what the Grand Emperor would do to Xiao Liu so that he could think about the right plan for now that would ensure Xiao Liu’s safety. Xiao Liu was silent for a moment then said “He won’t kill me.”

With the way Xiao Liu desperately tried to run away, Zhuan Xu must have gotten the wrong idea as well. The Grand Emperor killed all five of his younger brothers and also their entire families and descendants. But rumor had it that the Five Princes had secret offspring that was wandering the world. Zhuan Xu likely thought Xiao Liu was a secret offspring of one of the Five Princes.

Shi Qi didn’t feel at ease “This world boils down to gain at the end, which is really just a business transaction. Even if it’s the Yellow Emperor or the Grand Emperor, I can make a deal with them.”
Xiao Liu laughed “I don’t want to see the Grand Emperor for a different reason. Shi Qi, don’t worry about me, I stake my life on it that the Grand Emperor won’t kill me!”
Shi Qi could tell Xiao Liu was being serious so relaxed. Xiao Liu couldn’t help but secretly smile, every person must feel happy to have another worried about their welfare.

Xiao Liu was in pain but by her speech. She was both happy and unhappy at the time. There was a mentioning she did not want to get hurt anymore. Because she might wish to hold on tightly to her man to get happiness. But then again she was scared to be left alone again. So she better not had anybody in life at all.

When Jing wake up, seeing her legs are hurt ,he used his power on her to lessen and ton.The soldiers treatment to Jing and Xiao Liu are very different. They were very rough to Xiao Liu.

Xiao Liu had already figure out why she was captured in this way. Because Xuan Xu thought she might the son of one of the rebel to Grand Emperor.

Somehow I have a feeling that there's serene feeling in this scene although they were   in prison. 

And Xiao Liu was happy Jing worreid about her.

First let me share the 2 related  parts from novel + 1 drama covering, before analysing further :)

1/chapter 5:

- Context-Xiao Liu learn that Yeshiqi is Tushan Jing, and further Xiao Liu is counting the stars : 

Xiao Liu was arranging the cashews on the plate, first into a flower, and then into a crescent moon. The person next to him was ramrod stiff, his hand tightly clenching a cashew until it had been reduced to powder.

 Xiao Liu drank his wine and teased “Hey, what is your name? When I see you later, I can’t act like I don’t know you but I can’t call you Shi Qi anymore! Even if you don’t mind, your wife will likely shoot an arrow into me.” After a few moments, Shi Qi painfully said “Tu Shan Jing.” “Tu Shan….how to write it?” Jing splashed some wine and wrote his name for Xiao Liu who laughed and asked “And what’s the name of your soon-to-be wife?” Jing’s hand froze above the table. Xiao Liu smiled “Six years, I let you stay for six years. Give me six years without rent and then we won’t owe each other anything!” Xiao Liu got up to leave but Jing grabbed his arm. Xiao Liu jerked a few times but Jing never let go. 

Xiao Liu realized for the first time that the normally gentle Jing was actually quite strong and it was enough to subdue him. Xuan walked over with a laugh “Brother Liu is leaving?” Xiao Liu smiled “Yes, you have your big business, I have my little medical clinic. If I’m not leaving, shall I stay forever then? I can’t help you with what you’re doing.” Jing released his grip and Xiao Liu shook off his hand, handed money to Xuan, and walked out of the shop humming a ditty. The appearance of the Tu Shan family Second Lord caused Qing Shui Town to get even more lively as people jostled for opportunities and advancement.

 Everyone was discussing him. Even Butcher Gao lamented to Lao Mu that all the shops on the street belonged to the Tu Shan family. Chuan Zi and Tian Er didn’t think anything of it since those people were like stars, so far above their reach. Lao Mu had his questions but one look at Xiao Liu’s calm face and it relieved him. It can’t be, it can’t be Shi Qi! 

Xiao Liu refused to go to the river banks anymore. He locked the doors to the courtyard and laid on the pallet to count the stars. “Three thousand three hundred twenty seven……..”

 In the drama covering this scene (episode 8) we have Shiqi alone looking the stars by the river, and Xiao liu in the courtyard counting, the difference is that 1: we see them both under the starry night, 2. there are falling stars in the sky (symbol of wishes- it's in the chapter name by the way-Wish to Entrust Myself to the Mountains and Streams).

My Analysis Part 9

About Tushan Jing
According to Ye Shi Qi the former self as Tushan Jing was prized man, born wealthy with refine talents in arts. Since childhood, he was spoiled by his family. He was an expert of expert whom several smart beings had to look up to. The only unfortunate matter was that he had the brother who looked at him as the product of the suffering. The brother did everything to let out his anger and downgraded feelings on Tushan Jing. Only after three years of torture and  humilations, and he realized that Tushan Jing was a lie. It was just a title after all. 

A Reborn Phoenix 
Tushan Jing was nearly dead, both his body and soul. Nevertheless he approached to the warmth of the sun before he thought he was going to die. But his time was just not over yet and his savior appeared. Even with scars and on body and soul, he was very much alive. If we recalled chapter one, his torture was specific cuttings and not one chopped death. The past torture and hatred were never very far away. However, Ye Shi Qi/Tushan Jing knew he could never reborn completely if he embraced the hatred. Because it is not him, who would rather be glad that he still had his whole body to live. 

Graditute and Taking Chances
Tushan Jing was grateful to be reborn as Ye Shi Qi. In the last seven chapters, we could see the development of attraction between Ye Shi Qi and Wen Xiao Liu. If I was not spoiled before I would really have thought this story was a BL (Boy Love). After reviving the life, the human attraction and romance was also there for him. Probably at that moment he took what was offered to him with graditute and taking chances on this new growing feelings. 

The Promise of Entire Lifetime Against All Odds
The couple was in the prison. In fact, Wen Xiao Liu and Ye Shi Qi were imprisoned by Zhuan Xu. Yet they both were at peace and joyful. This is explained with the line "They did not even feel like time was passing. " Especially Ye Shi Qi, who wished this moment was forever. He felt like he did not want tomorrow anymore. He was grateful of Zhuan Xu. In here, he finally confessed his feelings. There was no words of "I love you". However, Wen Xiao Liu knew it and felt it by his heartbeat. He promised her to get himself free from loveless marriage and and be with her as Ye Shi Qi forever. He talked of the timing 15 years, to keep herself for him, and not to fall in love with another man.
I felt the need to explain here a little bit more. Because this is the area many are critizing the character for which many facts and reasons I sort of disagree. One have to understand that the love between Ye Shi Qi and Wen Xiao Liu is like first love, there is passion. Ye Shi Qi was not flawless. He had his own insecurities, because of his imperfections and family ties, and he was taking this chance for himself to be with her, and so that she would not disappear from his life. In the last couple chapters , he had seen her trying her best to get away from him. (Yes, he also knew he had possible rival). That is why I take this action as a sincere challenge and call out from a man in love. (One has to admit jealousy is common in couple when one is likely to go out with another? Or at least feeling you wish your partner doesn't go with another ? I am say to get a clear view of romantic&passionate love, that is not pure saint love. There's many kind of love). Because everything had exception. Sometimes in emotion matters, right or wrong were not as it seems. The wrong can be right and the right can be wrong. Surely the love between Xiao Jing is commitment. By revealing all about himself, Jing surely is commiting to her. He understands her that he needs to take this first step. Because Wen Xiao Liu would not initiate  this chance even if she really wanted it. The tone that was written in the scene, both of them calming. It's surely is not one sided from Ye Shi Qi.
Because of the phrase here, "Shi Qi quietly held Xiao Liu and Xiao Liu quietly listened to his heartbeat. In this place of death, separated from the world’s enticements and entanglements, it made the complicated relationship between a man and a woman so very simple. It was just him and her. Xiao Liu suddenly felt right being here and that was calming."
There is a mentioning of " relationship between a man and a woman" when separated from the world. It is just him and her. By hearing Ye Shi Qi's heartbeating, Xiao Liu was calming. All in all, this promise was heartfully made and accepted by both parties.

 `Part 2 chapter 8

The escape of Xiao Liu 

[The group continued on until dark when they returned to the inn for dinner before sleeping outside to guard the goods being transported. It was Summer so it wasn’t cold out at night. The entire town was asleep and the stars out were especially bright. Xiao Liu raised his head to look at the stars and wished for a duck neck to gnaw on to make this feel like a trip rather than running away.
Jing said “If you’re tired, go to sleep.”
Xiao Liu replied “It’s crazy outside of town, isn’t it?” Zhuan Xu thought he left town so was searching outside but in truth he was still in town.
Jing explained “Tomorrow the messenger group will depart for Gao Xing.” Xiao Liu laughed, Zhuan Xu would never think that he was running away from going to Gao Xing would then be headed to Gao Xing. Xiao Liu said to Jing “I thought you were so honest, who knew you were this sneaky.”
Jing said “Tomorrow will be exhausting, you rest leaning on me.” Xiao Liu looked up at the stars and said nothing. A raspy voice said “I. Am Shi Qi.”
Xiao Liu still looked up at the stars and said nothing, but after a few moments his head slowly tilted and lightly rested on Shi Qi’s shoulder. Shi Qi didn’t dare move as if afraid he would scare him away. Until he heard Xiao Liu sleeping did he slightly turn his head to gently look down on the sleeping Xiao Liu..................................................

Shi Qi answered “When we entered there was a very powerful being nearby so I completely concealed my power aura. I don’t know if he registered us.”
Xiao Liu said “Perhaps it’s a high ranking Gao Xing general that is stationed here.” But he didn’t feel all that at ease.
Shi Qi said “No matter who, we have to be alert. Rest well tonight.”............................

In the middle of the night Xiao Liu heard a commotion and immediately sat up. He saw Shi Qi pour all the water in the room on the ground around them before saying “The Godly army has surrounded the inn, and there are two very powerful Gods in the mix. I can’t even beat one of them.”
Xiao Liu chuckled “If we successfully escaped then I would be disappointed in Zhuan Xu. He is pretty capable.”
Shi Qi said “I let you down.”
“No you didn’t! Zhuan Xu used the power of two Kingdoms to chase us. You helped me all on your own. It’s a miracle we escaped this far.”
Shi Qi asked “How much do you not want to see the Grand Emperor?”
Xiao Liu thought “I would rather die than see him.”

Shi Qi put a fox shaped satchel in Xiao Liu’s hand “I can’t beat them but I can stall them. My winged ride is due Northeast. You run in that direction then raise the satchel and call like a fox. It will come pick you up.”

Xiao Liu grabbed Shi Qi’s hand “Will they kill you?”
“I am Tu Shan Jing, even if the Grand Emperor was here he would have to consider before killing me. Mere generals won’t even dare.”
Xiao Liu laughed “Then I’m going to abandon you and run.”
Shi Qi grabbed his shoulder with his voice slightly shaking “Let me see your true face.”
Xiao Liu smiled and shook his head “No.”
Shi Qi stared at Xiao Liu with unspeakable sorrow in his eyes. Once he walked out of here, Xiao Liu can become anyone else. Once Xiao Liu stopped being Xiao Liu, then Shi Qi would never be able to find him again.

Xiao Liu stared at him “Are you still willing to risk incurring the wrath of the Grand Emperor and help me escape?”
Shi Qi nodded.

Zhuan Xu’s booming voice reached them “Wen Xiao Liu, get your sorry behind out here! If you run again, I’ll break both your scrawny legs!”
“Change into one of their soldiers and run away” Shi Qi told him.
Shi Qi transformed the water into smoke and it became a mist surrounding him. He transformed into Wen Xiao Liu and walked to the window and opened it. Zhuan Xu said “Now you obediently come out here and I’ll consider not making you suffer as much.”
The mist gradually expanded from the room and floated outside and became so dense and thick it formed a maze. Zhuan Xu was furious and ordered the mist maze stopped immediately.
Xiao Liu could see in the maze thanks to the fox satchel Shi Qi gave him. He transformed into one of Zhuan Xu’s servants and silently slipped out of the inn.
Xiao Liu ran due Northeast and he raised the fox satchel high and a large crane descended. Xiao Liu climbed on the back of the crane and it took off continuing Northeast. Xiao Liu looked back and didn’t feel at ease.
Zhuan Xu’s angry thunderous voice reached him “Wen Xiao Liu, the person with you right now is Ye Shi Qi. I don’t have a problem with killing one Ye Shi Qi.”
Xiao Liu sighed – he really was able to be cold and heartless at the blink of an eye, thorough and unyielding. No wonder the Yellow Emperor liked Zhuan Xu.
Xiao Liu transformed back into being Wen Xiao Liu and turned back. After some time, he saw Zhuan Xu flying towards him and behind him Shi Qi was trussed up in a cage.

A servant came forward and Xiao Liu allowed himself to be captured. Zhuan Xu stared coldly at Xiao Liu and ordered “Break both his legs.” The servant kicked both of Xiao Liu’s legs and both snapped. Xiao Liu collapsed on the ground.
“Throw him in the cage.”
Xiao Liu was thrown in the cage and he crawled towards Shi Qi “Shi Qi….Shi Qi…..”
Shi Qi’s eyes were tightly shut and he was unconscious. Xiao Liu examined him and relaxed, Shi Qi had used all his powers as one to fight with many so he depleted all his energy and was passed out. He had no internal injuries and was in no life threatening danger.

Xiao Liu’s legs were in excruciating pain and he leaned on Shi Qi and murmured to himself “If I knew it was so painful to run, I would have chosen not to run. But if I didn’t run, then I would have never known that you would do anything for me. But what shall I do now? It would have been better had you not helped me. I could have easily severed my longing and hope. Or when we were surrounded back there, it would have been better had you not told me to run away by myself. Xan Tian Er’s life is a struggle, and when a man thinks he is helping her by easing her struggle, he is putting her into a different kind of struggle. She is now struggling with the fear that he would leave her one day and she’s left struggling all alone again. Which of the two struggles is harder? Perhaps most women choose to struggle with a man easing her load, at least there is some happiness, some hope that the man won’t let go one day. But I’m not like that! I would rather be roasted all alone, struggle all alone, because at least my hands are free. Pain makes me hope for escape, a man’s hands make me fear he’ll let go. I would then reach out and hold onto him tightly, collect all the happiness tightly. Right now Xan Tian Er is able to save herself because I helped her. But who will help me? The Gods can help humans, but who will help the Gods? No one! I still feel it’s safer to hide in my shell. I’ve suffered so much in my life already, I don’t want to suffer more, I don’t want to be hurt more…..”]

During the escape we see Xiao Liu accepting Jing's support of comfort. `Xiao liu hesitated but finally accepted it by resting his head on Jing'shoulder.   The hesitation is due to him still battling inside his  mixed feeling  of severing tie with Jing versus the growing longing feeling he has towards Jing.  This is understandable  as he did not except Jing to pass his test.  This little moment between then remind me of  the embrace they shared  at Jing residence, when he has been injured during Xiang liu and Xuan battle.   Jing later on is kind of worried that he may have let Xiao Liu down but he is reassured by Xiao Liu of the contrary. We see Xiao  Liu worried about Jing fate aka being killed when Jing reassured his that nothing like that will happen to him,  Xioa Liu then replied: "Then I’m going to abandon you and run.”. `I think the choice these words by  Xiao is deliberate by the writer . Xiao Liu could have said for example, `I am going or anything similar but used the word "abandon "an "run".   This is because here it is exactly what Xiao Liu is doing and he knows it.  After all who  normally would run  away when the feeling of longing for someone one intensify?  bare in  mind that I am nott dismissing Xiao Liu  fears of abandonment when I am doing this analysis.   Another point is Xiao Liu strong word regarding how much he does not  want to see the grand emperor.   Xiao Liu is runing away rather than facing  his fears. 

Back to Jing and Xiao Liu.  We see that  Jing asked `Xiao Liu to show him his  true face to which `Xiao Liu declined  with a smile and  this brought sadness to Jing.  This shows us that Jing did not pay attention to the words of the fake Xiao Liu doll earlier on : [ The  fake Xiao Liu doll laughed like Xiao Liu and spoke in the exact same voice as him “You don’t even know what you look like yourself, why blame me?”.. ] Xiao Liu does not remember his true face so cannot  fulfil Jing wish  anyway, even if he wanted to or not.  Therefore  the NO here has more than 1 meaning  : ' No " =he does not want to ( which we do not know for sure since Xiao Liu was going to use a new face anyway once he has successfully escaped ) or 'No"= he cannot( which we know. thanks to fake Xiao Liu ).

Xiao Liu again asked if Jing is still willing to risk  incurring the wrath of the grand emperor  for him to which again Jing nodded = yes.   To me it makes no sense that Xiao Liu  be asking this again after all he has  now known the extend of `Jing. commitment to helping him.  Here Xiao `Liu is still kind of in disbelieve regarding  what Jing has been doing for him even though he has been demonstrating it. He wanted  an extra confirmation as he is indeed leaving

Xiao Liu  changing his features  and leave. Jing urged  him to run  away since it is what Xiao Liu has said he wanted to do. Xioa Liu  turned back when `Xuan threatened to kill Ye she Qi.   his leg got broken and he is put in thrown in the same cage as Jing who has been captured and is unconscious. Xiaol Liu is released that Jing is indeed not dead.  What Xiao Liu murmur tohimself  as leaning on Jing is important  and I love them: 

"If I knew it was so painful to run, I would have chosen not to run." Here Xiao Liu is not just referring to the excrutiating pain of her broken legs but of  the expanding feeling of longing is has been experiencing  since  Jing unexpected reply : Fine without any conditions. 

"if I didn’t run, then I would have never known that you would do anything for me". This is not true because Xiao Liu has knows that Jing said he would do anything for him and has done so  several times already. 

 "It would have been better had you not helped me. I could have easily severed my longing and hope.".  here Xiao Liu is putting the blame on  Jing. We know  that he went purposely to test Jing. He could have run away without having to see Jing and this would have helped severing the longing and hope even though not immediately.   

" it would have been better had you not told me to run away by myself. But I’m not like that! I would rather be roasted all alone, struggle all alone, because at least my hands are free. Again Xiao Liu is putting the blame on Jing, the underlined in red word show again Xiao Liu fear of abandonment. the green part to me showed Xiao Liu lie to himself. because we have seen that Xiao Liu  thought multiple times regarding  his longing for companionship  and someone who would hold his hand not letting go. This is a true cased of what is in his heart is different to what he is stating  right now.

"Pain makes me hope for escape,"Xiao Liu is not just referring to the pain like when she was with the 9 tails fox but to the pain due not his feeling of longing and hope hence he want to escape it by running away, be free from it. I also think  he is referring the the physical pain he had suffered by Xiang Liu. ( there is a lot of things Xiao Liu does not know about the bug). Xiao Liu has before said to himself that he was tired of the pain inflicted by Xiang L   when Xiang L used him to hurt Xuan and at other instance he had implied as much. 

 "A man’s hands make me fear he’ll let go. I would then reach out and hold onto him tightly, collect all the happiness tightly. This is contradictory to what Xiao Liu has actually been doing since he has been leaving, running away rejecting any nice moments he could have with Jing.....

" Right now Xan Tian Er is able to save herself because I helped her who will help me? The Gods can help humans, but who will help the Gods? No one! I still feel it’s safer to hide in my shell. I’ve suffered so much in my life already, I don’t want to suffer more, I don’t want to be hurt more….]  Xiao Liu is forgetting that Tian 'er 1rst gave the chance to herself  to be saved hence why he Xiao Liu was able to help her.  Xiao  also is forgetting that when he had been captured by the fox years ago, he gave himself the chance to  free himself . No one help them both `tian'er and him 1rst. Xiao Liu  rather hide in his shell than  help himself because he has suffered a lot already and does not want to suffer anymore ( abandonment issue here and physical pains ).  Xiao Liu is forgetting that nothing in life comes free. One has to give himself a chance.  for example he had to kill the 9 tails fox to be free. He had to do it himself.  WXL is as far as `I see his own worse enemy so to speak because he does not give himself chances / hope anymore. 

We will  see later on in the chapter that Xiao Liu will give himself a chance.

I have also updated  my 1st part  see page  349  again  today as I noticed some thing that I needed to mention. please bear in mind that it is only my analysis of how I understood the chapter.

Heartbeat: The heartbeat serves as a powerful symbol of life, connection, and intimacy. Shi Qi holding Xiao Liu while she listens to his heartbeat reflects their emotional closeness. It symbolizes the pulse of life within the seemingly lifeless environment of the prison.

Development of Attraction: The story beautifully navigates the development of attraction between Ye Shi Qi and Wen Xiao Liu. Beyond the initial survival aspect, genuine feelings of romance and affection blossom. The gratitude Shi Qi feels for being reborn extends to the newfound emotions he experiences with Xiao Liu. 

Taking Chances on Love: Shi Qi's decision to take a chance on this growing affection is a poignant aspect. It reflects the human tendency to seek love and connection even in the most unexpected circumstances. The acceptance of what is offered with gratitude resonates with the theme of embracing opportunities for happiness. 

The Promise of an Entire Lifetime:

                                                                      3.Prison as a Paradoxical Haven: 

The prison, though imposed by Zhuan Xu, paradoxically becomes a haven for Shi Qi and Xiao Liu. The silence and darkness, typically associated with despair, create an environment for them to share their deepest emotions. The desire for this moment to last forever reflects the intensity of their connection.

 15-Year Promise: Shi Qi's promise to free himself from the loveless marriage and return to Xiao Liu after 15 years is layered with both passion and practicality. It's a commitment made in the heat of the moment, fueled by love, jealousy, and a genuine desire to be with Xiao Liu. The time frame adds an element of challenge and waiting, emphasizing the depth of his feelings. 

Sincere Challenge and Commitment: Imperfections and Insecurities: Shi Qi's imperfections and insecurities, stemming from his past and family ties, add depth to his character. His decision to take the first step toward love is a sincere challenge to himself and a commitment to Xiao Liu. It showcases vulnerability and a willingness to confront personal demons for the sake of love.

• Tushan Jing's promise to Ye Shi Qi is a commitment to love, and love is often associated with vulnerability. Shi Qi's and Xiao Liu  jealousies, insecurty, and the emotional challenges they face make their love story more relatable and human.

In this metaphorical sense:

"Graditute and Taking Chances
Tushan Jing was grateful to be reborn as Ye Shi Qi. In the last seven chapters, we could see the development of attraction between Ye Shi Qi and Wen Xiao Liu. If I was not spoiled before I would really have thought this story was a BL (Boy Love). After reviving the life, the human attraction and romance was also there for him. Probably at that moment he took what was offered to him with graditute and taking chances on this new growing feelings."

I love that you are pointing that Jing is like a reborn phoenix. indeed he is . What caught me in your analysis is that you are highighinbt the difference between Xiao `Liu and `Jing. . He is the one who is not scared to take the chance  that life is giving him. He is taking chances with his feeling. He is not scared to confess regardless of his disfigured   body.  I love this about him.  ~When Tu Shan Jing ewnats something he will do everything to get it. " This  was about his business skills. this now applies to love for the 1rt time  for `Jing.

the part in read is what Jing represent to Xiao Liu and to himself.  This is what we will see later on made `Xiao liu longed for him.

....mentioning of " relationship between a man and a woman" when separated from the world. It is just him and her. By hearing Ye Shi Qi's heartbeating, Xiao Liu was calming. All in all, this promise was heartfully made and accepted by both parties."

this is indeed Xiao Liu and Jing 1rst love as a man and a woman. I. totally agree with you. Jing has his insecurity and there is nothing wrong in  him asking that for 15 years Xiao Liu does not let another person in her heart. He himself does not have another in his heart.    And yes WXL agreed to the promise   understanding what it involved.  For the 1rst time she made a promise to someone knowing fully what she had to do before accepting it. She was not threatened  at all , nor physically abused,  nor forced to agree to the promise.  Jing did not withhold information from her.  he had "laid everything on the table " so to speak and had let Xiao Liu make her own decision. I love this about him.

"We can see that through their bugs connection, Xiang Liu could call on Wen Xiao Liu. He had travelled all the way to save her or get her....Probably it was late. "

nice catch here. XL  did came later. He has the bug connection now. so he  must have known instantly her pain when her leg was broken. I wonder where he was and how far. 

I like that she turned down his offer to escape. for me it showed that she was maybe ready to face grand emperor while caring about the safety of the SQ, XL as well.

Regarding Xiao Liu calmness now, I think maybe because Jing is  now be by her side  so she will not be alone and he will offer her emotional support if she needs? 

I like that you caught this shift in Xiao  Liu behaviour .

Chapter 8 

Part 3- Dragon's  Bone prison - the crucial steps  in their journey to forever never parting.

 Jing and Xiao Liu have been put in the drago's bones prison.

[The cell door closed and Xiao Liu crawled over to Shi Qi, hitting him a few times angrily before snuggling by his side. It was pitch black in the cell and Xiao Liu closed his eyes as he felt the waves of pain from his leg hit him. Gradually he also passed out from the pain.
When Xiao Liu woke up, he didn’t know how much time had passed but he felt someone holding his hand. He moved and heard Shi Qi “Xiao Liu, you’re awake?”
“Yup, I’m in pain for laying too long.”
Shi Qi sat up and wanted to help Xiao Liu up but touched his leg and Xiao Liu yelped in pain. Shi Qi held him “You’re hurt?”
“Yeah.”
“Where?
“My legs.”
Shi Qi felt Xiao Liu’s legs and the pain lessened but Xiao Liu quickly said “You’re also injured, don’t use your powers.”
Shi Qi ignored him and touched the other leg and Xiao Liu yelled “Be good!”
Shi Qi said nothing and after he touched the legs Xiao Liu felt the pain lessen a lot. Shi Qi helped Xiao Liu up AND let him rest on his shoulder to be more comfortable. Shi Qi asked “You don’t want to see the Grand Emperor, is it because he will kill you if he sees you?”
Xiao Liu understood that Shi Qi was not trying to probe but needed to know what the Grand Emperor would do to Xiao Liu so that he could think about the right plan for now that would ensure Xiao Liu’s safety. Xiao Liu was silent for a moment then said “He won’t kill me.”]

Xiao Liu tried to wake Shi Qi  up, but was angry that he could not. This shows that though  angry,  he is worried about Jing.  Xiao Liu end up nestling close to him. He is now comfortable  with Jing and has accepted him as his  support, his comfort. There is a level of intimacy that  it is  important to note because it  has  been initiated by  Xiao Liu himself just  it like earlier on in  this chapter.  Jing did not force  this on Xiao Liu before and  here Jing was unconscious.  Xiao Liu, then  gradually passed out due to the pain  from his broken legs.   I ended up disliking what Zhuan Xu did here.  I understand Xiao Liu transgression but it still pains me because not long ago, Zhuan Xu wanted to consider Xiao Liu as his first friend  and we saw earlier on Xiao Liu has  surrendered  himself. 

 Xiang Liu has the  voodoo bug now, he must have been feeling Xiao Liu's  pain the moment his legs got broken.  I am assuming that a few hours have passed  from that moment till now. Where is he?  I know he never explained why he took he bug in the first place but  is he not worried? After all Xiao Liu is his personal medicine and  he cares about him.   Then again why should he  be?  We know that Xiang Liu  only comes on his own terms aka when he wants something from  Xiao Liu, when  Xiao Liu calls him ( he did this once) and when Jing asked him to help saving Xiao Liu from  Xuan prison.   We see that Shi Qi did   everything within his power to  lessen Xiao Liu's  pain even  at  the expense of the  little power he has left, at the expense of his own well being. In order to achieve  this, he did not listen  to Xiao Liu words as he had  promised in chapter 1. 

 Xiao Liu showed here that he knows Shi Qi's behaviour very well and that he is not asking the question because he is curious but because he needed to plan  to ensure Xiao Liu safety.  This  quality has been demonstrated in thus far  by Tu Shan Jing.  I guess since he is dressed as Shi Qi, he is therefore Shi Qi.  Regardless of   him being Ye Shi Qi or Tu Shan Jing,  his personality is the same, he never pries.  Xiao Liu admitted  that the grand emperor will not harm him.   One cannot help but wonder why then was he so categoric about  in his refusal to meet say emperor. (We know why since the drama of course).

[Xiao Liu laughed “I don’t want to see the Grand Emperor for a different reason. Shi Qi, don’t worry about me, I stake my life on it that the Grand Emperor won’t kill me!”
Shi Qi could tell Xiao Liu was being serious so relaxed. Xiao Liu couldn’t help but secretly smile, every person must feel happy to have another worried about their welfare.
Shi Qi quietly held Xiao Liu and Xiao Liu quietly listened to his heartbeat. In this place of death, separated from the world’s enticements and entanglements, it made the complicated relationship between a man and a woman so very simple. It was just him and her. Xiao Liu suddenly felt right being here and that was calming.
Xiao Liu said “How about we never leave here.”
“Fine.”
“What’s fine?”
“It’s fine staying here.”
“What’s fine about it?”
“Just you. And me.”
Xiao Liu laughed knowing that Shi Qi also understood. There was so much that made life complicated purely due to circumstance. The old married couple living in the far off secluded mountains, they were actually the envy of so many who live glamorous lives of conflict.
Xiao Liu asked “Shi Qi, are you so good to me because you are repaying a debt?”
Shi Qi’s body stiffened and he said nothing for a long time. Xiao Liu was leaning on him so could feel his heart beating so fast it might burst out of his chest. Xiao Liu casually added “I saved you, let you stay for 6 years, and now you’ve done everything and more for me. When we get out, we’re really even. You don’t need to worry anymore, I will never go ask you for anything and get you in trouble. I promise to stay far far away from you……”

These are the  important  effects of Jing having pass the test  had on Xiao Liu.  This is  where the shift  in Xiao Liu's behaviour  takes full effect. This where their relationship officially start and we see why in the red highlighted part in the extract above and tin part 4  as we progress:   

1- We are witnessing Xiao Liu  smiling whilst admitting to himself that it is nice to have someone worried about ones well being = it is nice that Jing is worrying about his well being .  

2- In the this place of death, way from  the worries and burden  of the world and their life, it is just them  :  Shi Qi and Xiao Liu.  Their relationship looks so easy and simple  there as a man and a woman. They are sharing an intimate moment as Shin Qi is holding Xiao  Liu close to his chest:  whilst being held by Shi Qi,  Xiao Liu is quietly listening  his heartbeat . The writer is showing us that they do not need the help / use of an external factor  to connect .  Xiao Liu longes for her Shi Qi and Shi Qi longes for his Xiao Liu.  

"Xiao Liu felt right being there and it was calming". Here is not only  referring to  where they are but mostly to `Xiao Liu being in Jing arms.  It felt right for Xiao Liu to be there and it is bringing him a feeling of calmness. He proceeded to ask Shi Qi if they stay there (in that moment as they are) and never leave=forever. Shi Qi agrees. Xiao Liu wants to make sure that Jing understand  what he meant  to with he replies " Just  you and I".. Xiao Liu is happy that Jing understood him. No explanation needed.  The communication is clear between them and does not need much words. They both wants the same thing : to be together and  without worry and care  only about each other in a quiet  and simple place,  free from obligations, duties, family back ground.  they would grow old being the envy of all though they would not have much.

Xiao Liu shared his fear about why Shi Qi is treating him  with so much TLC (tender loving care). This fear has been there as we saw in previous chapters.  Xiao Liu explain himself further in a casual way . Here we see him again trying to pull himself away after having stated what he wants a few moments ago' He  makes a promise  :" I promised to stay far far away from you" .  We know it is  actually the opposite of what Xiao Liu really want.( see red in the  extra and bold in my analysis). Again we see that Xiao Liu is again trying to deny himself due to his fear abandonment.  He knew that what he was saying was affecting Shin Qin very much. He could feel  how fast  Shi Qi's heart was beating.  Shi Qi stopped him from saying any  further "none-sense ", shutting him up by placing  his hand on his lips. When Xiao Liu   tried to free himself but could not, he proceed to  do an  intimate/ sexual act  as a tease : he naughtily licked the centre of Shi Qin palm with his tongue.  This is beautiful because  it was not plan, it was an authentic reaction revealing his feeling for Shi Qi.  He wanted to taste Shi Qi and did so. Xiao Liu automatically blushed intensely. and was chocked by what he did.    This naughty act from Xiao Liu made  Shi Qi  feel  like  he received an electric chock. This tells us that the feeling between the is ELECTRIFYING .
