Chapter 12

Wrap Up

Part 1

My Thoughts

Wen Xiao Liu'd Jealousy

This maybe probably the first time Wen Xiao Liu saw Jing with another woman in such a scene such as under the fireworks. Even when the woman might not be very beautiful Xiao Liu was sort of still jealous and envy. Moreover, this event had made Xiao Liu let that she wanted to wear skirts, women wear.

Insecurity
Wen Xiao Liu was still wondering if she would look ugly. To this Zhuan Xu had strongly answer looks didn't matter to him or her parents. He sort of warn Xiao Liu to not to give into or hope on others.

Jing's Gift
Of course Jing might not be able to present himself to his Wen Xiao Liu at that moment. Nevertheless his care for her is just like in those times of Qing Shui town. He still knew what she likes and how she is. Therefore we can be the gift was made by himself. It might not be anything luxury. Because it's still food. But it's something that Wen Xiao Liu value.

In this chapter Jing and Xiao Liu did not get to meet. However, their longing still connect.
And Zhuan Xu was getting along with Chui Sui Fenglong and his sister, Chui Sui Xing Yue.

Part 2

Old Friends from Jade Mountain
Ah Bi, a fox with beautiful eyes and Lie Yang, a bird, appeared to Xiao Liu to take her Jade Mountain. They were her friends back then and now. Ah Bi especially had respect for Ah Heng, Xiao Yao's mother and assured Ah Heng goodness to Xiao Yao. Xiao Yao, although Jade Mountain days are not happy times for her, she still cared about her two friends.

Xiao Liu/Xiao Yao View On Jade Mountain

Royal Mother might not live more than one hundred or two hundred years. With what she said she may wanted Xiao Yao to entrust the title of Royal Mother after her. However, Xiao Yao was sure this was not a place because she longed enjoy worldly normal life. By what she said to Zhuan Xu she definetly do not like this place for being too peaceful and too lonely for Xiao Yao, far from the the noisy and exciting life she craved for with someone.

The Rebirth of Xiao Yao
Xiao Yao's rebirth and transformation to her real self take place in water and peach blossom. It is like she was  born out from the flowers made up of peach blossoms. I have a feeling that water and flower petals are life for her.

Reactions to Xiao Yao's Appearance
Xiao Yao appearance is said to be beautiful but she did not inherit appearance from her mom or Grand Emperor. By now, we should all be sure that Xiao Yao is not Grand Emperor biological daughter. With Zhuan Xu, Ah Bi, Grand Emperor's description, she might have inherited her eyes from her biological father. It was known to be cold, arrogance and fiery, but Xiao Yao eyes only show baby clarity, intelligence and coldness. This coldness to me may represent her bitterness at life experience and her nervousness, not that she's a cold person. Xiao Yao was beautiful but she seemed not to be satisfied with her being not resemble to her mom or Grand Emperor. There is uneasiness.

Consort Jing An and Ah Nian
We alongside with Xiao Yao get to know Consort Jing An was a mute. We got to feel this normal woman and normal mother from her. She's totally fine with Xiao Yao as long as it's not a threat to her and her daughter .
But Ah Nian felt like she was losing those she cared about, Zhuan Xu and Grand Emperor. Jealousy is striking Ah Nian indeed. In which it sounded like Ah Nian might consider Xiao Yao her enemy and rival.

Xiao Yao's Vengeance
According to the context, Xiao Yao's vengeance against the fox who imprison her came from the fox insulting her mother. She, just like Zhuan Xu, could not stand to those who will insult their family members or loved ones, in Xiao Yao's case is even more than hurting her.

Wrap Up
So Xiao Yao, the princess is finally back. I lov e how this chapter has beautiful details in decriptions to her transformation. Mostly, Xiao Yao does not care about her being ugly or not as long as it is authentic self. Nevertheless I do like how she showed jealousy in finding Jing with another woman. She then wanted to be female and wore skirts and worried about if she would be ugly. And Jing still sent her favorite snacks and wine. It is token taking care from far away. I love this brief moments. Jade Mountain scenes, appearance her friends there and more revealation of Xiao Yao's motives and her past captivate as to crave for reading more chapters.

Chapter 12 – A Beauty, At the Edge of the Water: Analysis (Part 1)

Resumé of the first part :

In this section of Chapter 12 from "Lost You Forever/Once Promised" by Tong Hua, the story unfolds at a banquet organized by Little Zhu Rong to celebrate the victors of the Autumn Tournament. The scene is lively, with people indulging in various activities such as roasting lamb, drinking, singing, dancing, and even wrestling.

Zhuan Xu and Xiao Liu, accompanied by Ah Nian, join the festivities. Zhuan Xu points out that the last day of the tournament is the most enjoyable, as the pressure of the matches is over, and people can relax and celebrate.

The focus then shifts to a dance performance, where Sheng Nong Xing Yue, a character from the Sheng Nong tribe, is leading a group of girls in a traditional step dance. Zhuan Xu, prompted by others, joins the dancing group and, with his experience of living among commoners, effortlessly participates in the lively dance. Xing Yue and Zhuan Xu gradually become the center of attention in the dancing circle.

However, Ah Nian, Zhuan Xu's younger sister, becomes upset and storms off, expressing her disapproval of Xing Yue's behavior. Xiao Liu explains that the Xuan Yuan Kingdom, to which both tribes belong, has a tradition of passion and wildness. Xing Yue's upbringing in Xuan Yuan Castle has made her accustomed to men and women dancing together.

The scene takes a turn when Xing Yue introduces her twin older brother, Chi Sui Feng Long, to Zhuan Xu, Ah Nian, and Xiao Liu. Feng Long, who resembles Xing Yue but carries a different impression, engages in polite conversation with Ah Nian and Xiao Liu. It is revealed that Feng Long is a good friend of Tu Shan Jing, a character mentioned earlier, and that they want to throw a party to celebrate the reunion of Jing and Yi Yang.

Feng Long extends an invitation to Zhuan Xu and his companions to join the celebration, emphasizing the desire to include them in their circle of friends. Zhuan Xu readily accepts the invitation, and it becomes apparent that Feng Long is interested in establishing a connection with Zhuan Xu.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the drama (ep.17) a scene is added where we see CX thanking TSJ for introducing him to Feng Long:

This introduction of Feng Long will be crucial in near future to CX to expend his power.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice: As they meet TSJ was starting to say to Cang Xuan (Zhuan Xu) that he in FFYY have nothing to do together, that he is doing all his best to severe that link...But was cuted by CX....:D...

...........and cuted to FLong subject.

This scene show how Tushan Jing is not passive at all. And is activly concerned by his situation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first  novel section ends with Zhuan Xu encouraging Xiao Liu to attend the party, implying that there might be something worth witnessing. The dynamics between the characters are evolving, and social connections are being established, setting the stage for further developments in the story.

Chapter 12 – A Beauty, At the Edge of the Water: Analysis (Part 2)

Resumé of this part:

In this part of Chapter 12, the story progresses as Zhuan Xu takes Ah Nian to the party celebrating the Autumn Tournament victors, leaving Xiao Liu to enjoy the festivities on her own. The lively atmosphere, however, contrasts with Xiao Liu's internal feelings, as she reflects on her own sense of detachment and the need to maintain a facade of happiness.

The scene shifts to a spectacular fireworks display over the Chi Sui river, where Tu Shan Jing and Yi Yang are clearly visible on a ship. The description of Yi Yang's grace and elegance under the fireworks leaves a deep impression on Xiao Liu, who, despite living as a man for two hundred years, feels a mix of shame and envy.

Upon returning to the residence late at night, Zhuan Xu is waiting for Xiao Liu, expressing concern for her safety. Xiao Liu, in a seemingly carefree manner, mentions wanting to wear a beautiful skirt. Zhuan Xu reassures her, emphasizing that she will never disappoint him and Master. There's a subtle exchange that hints at Xiao Liu's internal struggle with her identity and the expectations placed on her.

(Drama version sadly skiped that scene, and added XL scene as female shapeshifter flirting to unconfortable Xiao Yo....:D...But we still got this one related /but day scenery end ep.17) :

Jings hands heavily shaking...

Xiao Yao leaving, with excuse that she must change herself...

The novel version is beautifull :

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple……all sorts of colors were rising from the sky from a ship. It illuminated two people standing at the bow of the ship very clearly. The man was wearing a blue robe, standing still and calm, like a bamboo in a forest. The woman was tall and wearing a red robe and appeared to be drunk.

She looked up at the fireworks and teetered a few steps and almost tripped. The man reached out to stead her and she curled into his body like a beautiful vine flower. The ship gradually moved off into the distance along with the fireworks so the spectators all dispersed. Xiao Liu remained at the river’s edge staring at the darkened river.

It was strange, Yi Yang was not the most beautiful woman Xiao Liu had ever seen, but under the fireworks and the way she almost fell and then leaned into Jing, there was a woman’s elegance and beauty that struck Xiao Liu deeply. It made Xiao Liu, who had been living as a man for two hundred years, feel ashamed and envious.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zhuan Xu reveals that Master has a surprise for Xiao Liu when they return to Gao Xing, adding an element of curiosity to the narrative. The chapter concludes with Xing Yue and Feng Long surprisingly coming to send them off, symbolizing the acceptance of Zhuan Xu into their social circle. The farewell gesture is a clear indicator of Zhuan Xu's successful integration into the group.

As they depart, a parting gift from Tu Shan Jing is presented to Zhuan Xu, emphasizing the newfound connection between the characters. The ship sails away, leaving behind a sense of accomplishment for Zhuan Xu.

The journey back to Gao Xing is depicted as enjoyable, filled with simple pleasures like snacks and wine. The narrative paints a picture of a relaxed and contented atmosphere, providing a contrast to the earlier tension and struggles.

Upon returning to Five Gods Mountain, the characters go their separate ways, reporting to the Grand Emperor and attending to personal matters. The chapter ends with Zhuan Xu and Xiao Liu sitting in the courtyard, enjoying the warm weather. The story seems to be moving towards a phase of relative calm and stability, setting the stage for further developments in the plot.

Chapter 12 – A Beauty, At the Edge of the Water: Analysis (Part 3)

Resumé of this part :

This part of Chapter 12 brings a significant turn in the story as Xiao Liu returns to Gao Xing and is confronted by two mysterious individuals, Ah Bi and Lie Yang, who have a deep connection with her. The tension and surprise intensify as Xiao Liu discovers the identity of the white-robed young man as Ah Bi and the black-robed young man as Lie Yang.

Ah Bi and Lie Yang are revealed to be demons in disguise who have been deeply concerned about Xiao Liu's well-being. Ah Bi, who is now a man, and Lie Yang, who is a white swallow, express their relief at Xiao Liu's safe return. The emotional reunion reveals the strong bond between them, and it's evident that Xiao Liu means a lot to them.

The revelation about the Face Forming Flower and the possibility of restoring Xiao Liu's true face adds a layer of complexity to her character. It also introduces the Royal Mother, who possesses knowledge about this magical object. The emotional impact of this revelation is palpable as Xiao Liu grapples with the idea of finding her true identity.

The narrative transitions to Jade Mountain, a serene and timeless place where time seems to stand still. The description of the peach blossom forests and the constant temperature over thousands of years adds a mystical and otherworldly atmosphere to the setting. Xiao Liu's initial nervousness dissipates as she recognizes the familiar surroundings of Jade Mountain.

The encounter with the Royal Mother is filled with tension and emotion. The Royal Mother's weathered appearance and desolate eyes create a somber atmosphere, hinting at a troubled past or a burden she carries. Xiao Liu and Zhuan Xu show respect by kneeling before her, emphasizing the significance of this meeting.

As the chapter unfolds, it sets the stage for the exploration of Xiao Liu's true identity and the potential consequences of her choices. The reunion with her demonic guardians and the introduction of the Royal Mother add depth to the narrative, raising questions about Xiao Liu's past and the magical elements woven into the story.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NB: The drama version is in ep.18.  There is an added scene of another TSJ proactivly pushing away FFYY, that I will cover a part :).

In this continuation of Chapter 12, Xiao Yao undergoes a transformation orchestrated by the Royal Mother, revealing her true form. The Royal Mother offers Xiao Yao the opportunity to stay on Jade Mountain and inherit the position of the Royal Mother, but Xiao Yao declines, choosing a life of uncertainty and adventure over the sedentary life on the mountain.

The pool, surrounded by peach blossoms, becomes a symbol of rebirth as Xiao Yao emerges as a naked girl resembling a peach blossom. The description of this scene captures both the enchanting and delicate aspects of the magical world the characters inhabit.

The emotional complexity of Xiao Yao's relationship with her mother's look-alike, Consort Jing An, adds depth to the story, hinting at unresolved emotions and potential conflicts.

Unveiling the Mysteries - Royal Mother, Xiao Liu's Past, and Magical Elements

In the unfolding narrative of "A Beauty, At the Edge of the Water," the reunion between Xiao Liu (Xiao Yao) and her demonic guardians, Ah Bi and Lie Yang, along with the introduction of the enigmatic Royal Mother, adds layers of complexity to the story. These elements contribute to a deeper understanding of Xiao Liu's past and the magical elements intricately woven into the fabric of the narrative.

Xiao Liu's Reunion with Demonic Guardians: Ah Bi and Lie Yang

Xiao Liu's reunion with Ah Bi and Lie Yang marks a poignant moment in the narrative. The demonic guardians, Ah Bi and Lie Yang, are not only symbolic of Xiao Liu's connection to the magical world but also represent the enduring bonds that transcend time. The narrative uses words like "melodious" and "soothing timbre" to describe Ah Bi's voice, emphasizing the emotional resonance and significance of this reunion. The use of the term "winged fox" to describe Ah Bi not only encapsulates his physical form but also alludes to the magical nature of the beings in Xiao Liu's world.

Moreover, Xiao Liu's embarrassment at Ah Bi's transformation into a man highlights the intricate relationships and expectations within the magical realm. The guardians, who have witnessed Xiao Liu's growth, embody a sense of protective kinship. Their sorrow at Xiao Liu not being her mother, coupled with their acknowledgment of her unique identity, adds emotional depth to the narrative.

The Royal Mother: Enigma and Power

The introduction of the Royal Mother introduces an air of mystery and power into the storyline. The Royal Mother is depicted as a figure with weathered features and desolation in her eyes. These visual descriptions convey a sense of age and perhaps a burden of wisdom or experiences. The peach blossom branch at her fingertip further emphasizes the connection to nature and the magical elements surrounding her.The Royal Mother's ability to manipulate the magical Face Forming Flower within Xiao Liu's body raises questions about Xiao Liu's past and the intricate magical practices existing in the story's universe. The term "magical spiritual object" used to describe the Face Forming Flower implies a significance beyond the physical realm. It serves as a key element that ties Xiao Liu to the magical forces within the peach blossom forest of Jade Mountain.Xiao Liu's Past: Wanderings, Transformations, and Self-Discovery

Xiao Liu's past is shrouded in mystery and unfolds gradually as the narrative progresses. The peach blossom forest of Jade Mountain, described as remote and timeless, serves as a symbolic backdrop to Xiao Liu's wanderings. The juxtaposition of constant beauty and unchanging time conveys a sense of isolation and longing. Xiao Liu's desire to escape this peaceful yet monotonous life reflects a yearning for self-discovery and a departure from the constraints of a predetermined destiny.

The Face Forming Flower within Xiao Liu's body becomes a key element in her past. Its origin in the peach blossom forest suggests a connection to nature and ancient magic. The Royal Mother's inability to remove the flower but offer assistance in finding Xiao Liu's true face implies a quest for identity and acceptance. The none possibility to remove the FFF  show an ingrained connection to her deceased mother  and her father- it  symbolises their  love and their will to protect her.

The term "transformation" holds significance, not merely as a magical ability but as a metaphor for Xiao Liu's journey of self-discovery and acceptance. The Face Forming Flower, initially a source of concern, becomes a tool for Xiao Liu to navigate the complexities of her identity and powers.

Magical Elements: Symbols and Transformations

The peach blossom forest, with its enchanting view, serves as a powerful symbol of the magical world within the narrative. Its unchanging nature echoes the timeless quality of magical forces, while the peach blossoms themselves become symbols of beauty, feminity and transformation. The Royal Mother's use of peach blossoms in magical rituals further underscores their significance in the story.

Transformation emerges as a recurrent theme, manifested in Ah Bi and Lie Yang's ability to shift forms, Xiao Liu's past wanderings, and the Face Forming Flower's dual nature. These transformations are not merely magical occurrences but reflections of characters' evolving identities and the fluidity of their existence in the narrative world .

Conclusion:

The reunion with demonic guardians, introduction of the Royal Mother, exploration of Xiao Liu's past, and the magical elements woven into the narrative collectively contribute to a rich and multifaceted storyline. The use of symbols, vivid descriptions, and carefully chosen words serves to immerse the reader in a world where magic is not merely a fantastical element but an integral part of characters' identities and journeys.

  5. Identity Crisis and Self-Discovery:

    • Xiao Liu's fear could be an expression part of a broader identity crisis. As the process of embracing her true self involve grappling with societal expectations, personal desires, and reconciling her past experiences with her present identity.

Chapter 13

Part 1

Abstract

When she was swimming, the maids would would fan out and guard the garden for her so that no one would run across the princess. It was quiet all around and swimming made Xiao Yao think of her mom. She used to think she would never think about her mom, but in truth she still missed her a lot and merely forced herself not to think of her. Back in familiar surroundings, this missing her grew stronger and stronger but along with it came pain. With an ounce of missing came an ounce of pain, and with an ounce of pain came an ounce of anger.

Xiao Yao felt that she must be growing lonely again and forced herself to think of other things. Swimming, swimming…..there must be other things in her life connected with swimming…..Xiao Yao suddenly missed Nine-lives Xiang Liu very much. If he was here, likely she would not have any time to think about the past. But Wen Xiao Liu was gone and even if she ran into Xiang Liu in the future, he would not recognize her anymore.

Xiao Yao floated on the surface and sighed deeply.
........
Ah Nian heard this and realized Xiao Yao saw Zhuan Xu every day and that made her so angry she didn’t know what else to do. She actually shoved Xiao Yao like a little kid fighting.

Xiao Yao’s powers were weak so she fell on the ground. In an utter coincidence, Zhuan Xu came back right at that moment and saw this scene. He rushed over and helped Xiao Yao up while berating “Ah Nian, don’t you know Xiao Yao has almost no powers? Next time you resort to violence, I’ll have to ask Master to punish you.”

Ah Nian’s tears fell and she rushed forward and violently pushed Zhuan Xu while sobbing “What if I want to resort to violence? I did it so tell my daddy to punish me! Best beat me to death, then you’ll be happy since no one wants me anymore…..”

Zhuan Xu didn’t want to harm Ah Nian so didn’t use any power and was therefore shoved backwards by her.

Xiao Yao quickly snuck away. Zhuan Xu’s servant walked past and she told him “I need to talk to my dad tonight so tell Gege he doesn’t need to come see me.”
.......

Xiao Yao snuck into Cao Yao Court and sat beside the Grand Emperor, peering at what he was doing. He smiled at her and kept on working.

After some time, Xiao Yao got bored and stood up, walking around and touching things. The Grand Emperor asked “Have you learned the “Sheng Nong Book of Herbs” left by your mother?”

Xiao Yao pointed to her head “The Royal Mother said that was a bad thing so forced me to memorize it and then destroyed the manual.” The Grand Emperor said “There are lots of medical books on the shelf over there. If you have time then read it. If there is something you don’t understand, you can ask the doctors in the Palace.”

Xiao Yao walked over and flipped open a book, but it wasn’t a medical book like her dad suggested, but a book on how to harm others. Ah Nian’s push today reminded Xiao Yao that she can’t let her guard down!
......
Back at Ming Se Court, Xiao Yao wanted some water and was about to drink when she sensed and opened the pitcher to find bugs floating inside. She murmured “Ah Nian, why are you so weak? If you can be as strong and smart as that Nine-headed demon Xiang Liu, then my days would be way more interesting.”

The maid making the bed gasped and Xiao Yao walked over to find the entire bed shredded by a knife. She shook her head wearily.

A maid said “Daily torment like this can’t go on, how about we tell His majesty?” So many days and endless situations from snakes in the bathtub to sand in the rice.

The Eldest Princess didn’t seem to care, she would play with the snake while bathing, and keep on eating the rice and crunching through the sand. But the maids were at the end of their rope with the tricks

Xiao Yao started researching poisons again. During the day she went to find the palace doctors to discuss and at night she went to hang out with her dad. Everyday she was busy and it made her feel better. The only regret was that there was no one around for her to test her poisons on.

One night Xiao Yao was in Cao Yao Court admiring the latest poison she concocted, feeling very sad that she couldn’t give it to Xiang Liu.

She took out her most precious mirror and pulled up the memory she saved in it. One was when she drew nine heads on Xiang Liu’s face, and the other was after she moved the voodoo bug from Zhuan Xu to Xiang Liu and walked along the ocean floor with him. She secretly used the mirror to record that moment.

In the dark blue ocean depths, Xiang Liu’s white hair white robe was so elegant and refined as he swam, the white hair billowing behind him, making his already handsome face even more ethereally beautiful.

“Who is he?”

The Grand Emperor’s voice asked and Xiao Yao was so surprised, turning around to discover her dad was sitting behind her and looking into the mirror. He was clearly curious about the man in his daughter’s mirror.

Xiao Yao said “A friend who is not quite a friend.”

The Grand Emperor laughed “I thought at this time you would be missing the Tu Shan clan’s little fox.”

Xiao Yao made a face “Perhaps he’s walking with his fiancee under the moonlight, happy as can be. I’m not an idiot, why think of him?”

The Grand Emperor stared at Xiao Yao and her candid honesty.

Xiao Yao knew she likely spoke too baldly and laughed “I will be careful in front of others when I speak and not embarrass you.”

The Grand Emperor sighed “You and your mother…..are nothing alike.” And that person, they were both so passionate people. Yet Xiao Yao was cold-hearted and rational.

Xiao Ya wanted to put the mirror away but the Grand Emperor took it “The are gorilla beasts in the vast wilderness that can see the past but not the future. I’ve only heard the legend of a beast being made into a mirror but never seen it. Where did you get this mirror?”

Xiao Yao pouted and said “That Nine-tailed fox gave it to me so that I could maintain my face after I saved it in the mirror. Having this mirror is what made me not afraid anymore.”

The Grand Emperor said “Being able to keep something of his, that means you really have moved on.”

Xiao Yao shrugged “He’s dead, why do I want to let him continue tormenting me mentally.”

“You live very freely.”

Xiao Yao laughed “Better said that I’m greedy and don’t want to waste a treasure.”

The Grand Emperor’s hand waved over the mirror and called up the image of Xiang Liu under the sea “Does this friend who is not a friend deserve for you to keep him in your memory forever?”

Xiao Yao took the mirror back “This is just for fun, maybe I’ll erase it tomorrow.”

My Thoughts

Xiao Yao's Nostalgic Feelings of Her Mother and Loneliess

So after transforming back to woman, Xiao Yao came to live at the place her mother once lived. It provoked her missing her mother as well as her lonilness, especially when she swam. According to the novel and drama, Xiao Yao love to play with water and swam with her mother presenting.  That makes her miss her old enemy+friend, Xiang Liu. Xiao Yao knew Xiang Liu must be sea/ocean spirit. Besides there were a lot of time she and XL spend times at area of ocean or lake, according to somewere wit water.  The narration is very direct. If she missed something it just uses the word, "missing". The narration will later revealed again, that dealing with Xiang Liu could able to soften the hurting of longing/missing in her heart from her past as well as her boredom.

Conflicts with Ah Nian and Making Poison

Ah Nian thought Xiao Yao stole both men in her life or at least she did not want her dad and Zhuan Xu to love Xiao Yao but once she learnt Zhuan Xu spent time with Xiao Yao more, she was angry and fought Xiao Yao like a kid. Xiao Yao was angry. Who would like it when anyone hurt you when you don't feel you did not do anything wrong to that person. Xiao Yao vent out her anger by making poison. But she cannot let Ah Nian ate it like she fed Xiang Liu. Of course killing them is definetly not her true intention although they did bring the hell out of her. Ah Nian had after made Xiao Yao learning more on making poison. The bratty sister provoke her dark side within after all.

The Gorilla Mirror and The Past Memory

Xiao Yao treasured Gorilla mirror although it is from the fox who tortured her made her vengeance. Grand Emperor had remarked that she could fully let go any negative feelings towards the fox in which she could fully accepted this gift. Xiao Yao treasured it because she could able to keep track of her transformation or the past with it..which will be useful in keeping track of her own real identity. Although it seems she could not keep her initial appearance in childhood in it. Because she could not remember how she looks like back then.

Grand Emperor was amazed at her keeping another man in it. And the man in the mirror is ethereal beauty.

Xiao Yao just replied it is for fun, and that she could be able to erase it the next day.

How true is it from her talk?

The first time she took record of Xiang Liu was when she was happy because she was able to make fun of Xiang Liu by drawing eyes on his face. (After XL drank blood from Xiao Liu, XL lay on the comfy bed Shi Qi made for her. She did not like it).
The second time was when they were coming back from five gods mountains. She has a blissful time in the ocean, and she probably find Xiang Liu fascinating at that moment and at the scene, so she keeps memory of him.

I am not sure about how serious she might want to keep memory of this Xiang Liu, at the very moment. But I do sense that looking up at him again must ease her boredom and anger. It is like her escapism from her real life hurting and hurting from the within. He is the only individual who can eat her poison without getting harm.

And then Grand Emperor mentioned of Tushan little fox, Xiao Yao made face and mention of how Jing must be with his fiance. Her bald remark shows her dislike on him having fiance , that thought hurts her so she rather not think of Jing.
