The only link for Viu I know is this one, which when used outside its service area without a VPN just goes to "not in your country" page and a list of the 31 it is accessible from.
If it's possible to link to titles on Viu in such a way that the link works for any country, then it would be preferable to have just one Viu rather than 31, I would have thought. But we'd need to see some examples of URLs to titles on Viu to see if they're country-specific.
If the do include a country code, then, hopefully, they could be like Apple or Netflix ones: the country code can be removed and they will then work for any country the title is on accessible in. But they could be like JustWatch URLs, which, annoyingly, don't work at all with the country code removed.
At the very least, all countries share the same website, and all URLs start with www.viu.com
Are there any Viu users reading this who can give some examples?
In contrast, Hulu is at www.hulu.com and Hulu Japan is at www.hulu.jp – different companies, different sites, and URLs to a title on one will definitely not work for the other.
STRONGBERRY very consistently (on its own website and Vimeo and other accounts) capitalises its name in all upper case.
KOCOWA very consistently capitalises its name in all upper case throughout its own website and SNS accounts, not as Kocowa, as MDL currently displays it. However, other websites like Viki don’t follow this official stylisation and have it as Kocowa. I think there has to be a decision made as to whether MDL is going to use official stylisations or standard English capitalisation for the service names.
A few more Vimeo accounts with some notable E or SE Asian dramatic movies available to rent or buy with English subs officially:
MATCHBOX (Vimeo) – Korean production company related to STRONGBERRY with some different shorts on its own account. Love, 100°C being one that’s on MDL, for example.
Premium Films (Vimeo) – Sales agent's account with shorts from around the world but including, for example, Signature from Japan. Which I know isn’t on MDL yet but I think should be, on account of the amount of festivals it was selected for (and I might just do that after seeing it for myself).
Second Run (Vimeo) – Only Mysterious Object at Noon out of what is on MDL currently, but as one of the main companies for releasing SE Asian cinema in the UK on disc I expect there could be more of of their library added to their Vimeo account later.
Third Window Films (Vimeo) – Official account of the UK-based East Asian cinema specialist, with some of its titles to rent/buy from them.
