Title Blank
Yeah but it does its best it might as well be weird as fuck. If these were straight characters noone would watch.
Most people are chugging down the boiling heap of "straight" garbage that's presented on a silver platter like it's the finest wine. Take away all the unhealthy dynamics and sexualized/pornographic scenes in "straight" media, and there'd be nothing left but a blank page and the cheap smell of body spray

The same people calling this gay story "weird" would be drooling over it if it were "straight"

Review Mr. Plankton
"... actors in their 30s acting like real men in their 30s instead of 12-year-old naive babies, - they might curse when they are angry, they might smoke cigarettes, they might not be perfectly nice all the time, they kiss ..."

A man in his 30s can be a sweet, shy, baby-faced gentleman who only curses when he stubs his toe (or drops his ice cream cone), and refrains from puffing on cigarettes (or bothering women). At least in fiction

There's no shortage of jerks in real life, I don't need to see them in fiction. If you're eager to see jerks in action, step out of your house and take a stroll down any city street. You'll encounter more than your fair share of rude, inconsiderate men. Fictional men should be better, more upstanding examples of men

"... they kiss their girlfriends passionately for real and not stop frame - how refreshing ..."

"Kissing" on screen is an unrealistic, uncomfortable sham. They're not "kissing for real." Cameras are rolling, a director is barking orders, and a team of makeup artists is hovering nearby to appease your bizarre "straight" fetishes. Stopping the frame spares the actors and actresses, and protects the audience from being subjected to a repulsive display between men and women

"... (all new so called feminitst please don't watch this!) a story of a bad boy boyfriend who kidnapps his ex-girlfriend on her messed-up wedding day. Is that politically correct these days? No - do I love it? YES ..."

Men who engage in the occasional kidnapping spree should consider seeking therapy, or a one-way ticket to the nearest maximum security prison. Real feminists wouldn't endorse and romanticize kidnapping, nor should anyone else

and that why women would always choose the bear … just saying
Not all women, unhinged liberal women are oblivious to the danger of choosing a strange man over a bear. Their liberalism has dulled their survival instincts

You know what has literary merit? A blank page, it's more eloquent than this review

I hated the review, only because I love to keep my brain cells intact

On the bright side, we can find common ground in our love for BLs despite our countries' irrational aversion to anything gay related

Media is a powerful that dictates and gives lessons, not to a lot, but rather many young individuals early in…
"Media is a powerful that dictates and gives lessons ... and sets really unrealistic and many a times dangerous situations ..."

Are you going to sue Disney for making children believe a "kiss" can break a curse and mice can sew ball gowns? Or "straight" media in general for centuries of spoon-feeding its viewers rose-colored glasses? Happy BLs aren't the ones playing fast and loose with reality, it's a crowded playground out there

Don't confuse media for a villainous dictator or a sinister entity intent on always corrupting the minds of its viewers. The mind-altering potential of media is limited to those unable to differentiate between the fictional and the factual

It’s not always media’s job to be the nanny of society, wiping the drool off people's collective chins and keeping them from wandering into the land of delusion. People need to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions

"... has the potential to mess up someone's life"

Happy gay fiction is a sugary treat for the mind. It's not going to mess up anyone's life unless they forget there are other nutritious options

"Queer" media has long been dominated by tragedy and ambiguity. It's time for the scales to tip in favor of lighthearted romances, fluffy fun, and celebratory champagne flutes

"People need to understand and empathize the real problems and real situations of the characters"

Because gay lords know our real-life problems pale in comparison to the problems of fictional characters ...

"You'll be surprised to find many manly muscular partners to be dominating in person but submissive in bed"

There’s no instruction manual for how to be gay. One couple might have a feminine bottom and a masculine top, another might have a masculine bottom and a masculine top, another might have two flamboyant, versatile divas, etc. Accusing any arrangement of heteronormativity disregards the harmony or balance that exists in it

A feminine bottom/masculine top arrangement is a rejection of heteronormativity, presenting a relationship between two men that affirms a man's femininity and creates a new paradigm of what it means to be a "man." It's as irrational to claim that the arrangement is heteronormative as it would be to claim that a traffic light having a green light (go, active role) on top and a red light (stop, passive role) on bottom is heteronormative

"... where, if you replace the submissive person with a woman, you'd barely notice the difference ... two extremes of straight-washed fantasy and hideous reality ..."

Feminine, submissive men aren't "straight-washed" or less of a man. They're men comfortable expressing a side of themselves that you and society tell them not to

There's room for different kinds of men, dominant, submissive, or versatile. A submissive man is as much of a man as a dominant, burly lumberjack with tattoos and a bad attitude who chops down trees and eats nails for breakfast. The difference is the lumberjack would beat you up if you asked him to tidy up the living room

A relationship between a submissive, feminine man and a dominant, masculine man isn't a heteronormative "Mills & Boons romance," it's a homosexual romance that deconstructs gender roles and shows submissiveness isn't a trait restricted to women. The trait is found in women and men

"Straight" identifying people have rom-coms and cheesy endings, why can't we have GLs/BLs/gay stories and happily-ever-afters? Happy gay stories are "vital and important." They're a ray of sunshine in an otherwise stormy situation. Seeing ourselves on screen in healthy, loving relationships is a source of hope and affirmation in a society that dismisses or devalues our experiences

You're complaining about BLs/gay stories being too happy for you, you'd better start demanding that "straight" stories end in breakup, divorce, and financial ruin. That's the realism "straight" identifying people deal with

"... Does it have a happy ending?
I will not dignify that with a response ..."
"... Does it deal with these issues well?
Urgh ..."

You enjoyed interviewing yourself, didn't you? Put it on your resume, it's not every day I see someone full of themselves and in love with the sound of their own voice

It is abomination to rate this drama lower than 8.9 to 9. It just tells that people really don't have an eye for…
"Well I absolutely agree there is no need for male counterparts, but it wouldn't hurt to see someone pure, lovable, and kind falls for NJN and supports her in all his might and fight for her dream with her"

"Pure, lovable, kind" doesn't describe a man, women can possess these qualities. Why can't a woman fight for Jeong Nyeon's dreams with her?

The source material is a GL/lesbian story, it'd hurt if Jeong Nyeon's pure, lovable, kind female love interest were swapped out for a man. Seeing as the original love interest has been booted from the storyline by homophobes, the most appropriate course of action would be to remove the romance altogether or introduce a new female love interest who can support Jeong Nyeon's journey to self-discovery and success

The censorship in place is already an issue, and you're adding insult to injury by straightwashing the story further to satisfy your "straight" fetishes. Your comments deserve a big "nope" from me and everyone else

People like you are always on the hunt for your heteronormative fix, and trust me, there's a junkyard of "straight" Kdramas out there for you. Indulge yourself there. Don't come trampling over and ruining the few dramas that aren't "straight"

It's more concerning that you're shaming the women who might not be into the plot. Not everyone wants to see "sex"…
Modern society shifted from a position that "sex" is shameful to a position that shames women for rejecting men's advances

Men want women to be "sexually" available and receptive to their advances. Women who "enjoy sex" give men what they want. They are complicit in their own oppression, what's there not to shame?

You shame us, we shame you. "SOMEBODY's not getting laid" isn't the rallying cry of empowered women

Exposing other minds to explicit content doesn't teach them to treat their partners properly. It distorts their views of consent and healthy relationships

Would you teach others about healthy eating habits by taking them to McDonald's every day? They might learn that a Big Mac exists and that it's tasty, it's hardly the whole story

In the past, women were private property, hidden from the ravenous eyes of the world. Today, they are public property, put on display for the masses to feast their eyes on. Society has traded the chains of the past for the shackles of today, pressuring women to strip bare their dignity for the delight of others

There's no good reason to include "sex." The true horror of "violence" against women isn't in the shock of blood and nudity, but in the psychological and social effects it wreaks on its survivors. That's what media should show
