How could you not like Seong Hyeon?

Seong Hyeon’s intentions weren't malicious. The situation was less than ideal, with alcohol being involved, and it's not fair to label him as someone who sought to take advantage of Da On. It was a lapse in judgment, not a calculated act of manipulation, and what matters is how he'll handle the situation afterward

Drunken kisses are a thing. They happen more often than you'd like to admit. Seong Hyeon knew they're not ideal and showed restraint, stopping himself from going too far, which is more than can be said for other people. He might be a step above the rest of us, a better person than you and I

Homophobes aren't known for their level-headed reactions to surprises, are they?

Though well-intentioned and deserving of respect, exposing homophobes to gay stories they weren't expecting will escalate to an eruption of hostility. And amidst the escalating homophobia these days, a better approach is to be upfront about the content, letting homophobes know what they'll get into and giving them the opportunity to sidestep gay stories to spare us from an ugly scene (their ugly personalities)

Homophobes get hot and bothered over a side gay character when they’re warned ahead of time in teasers or trailers. Hit them with two main gay characters out of the blue and it'll be career suicide, I tell you. Not featuring the gay couple in the teaser or trailer will attract more homophobic reactions

And I completely disagree, now what?

They started off by lashing out with personal attacks and calling us "emotionally stupid." That tells me everything I need to know about their character. They're projecting their inadequacies onto us

You're having a full-blown meltdown over our comments, and you have the audacity to call us hysterical and emotionally stupid?

"... you can't even wait for the drama to come out"
"... the story of Heesu and Seungwon will be the center of the drama"

You're using your crystal balls and tarot cards to make bold claims about a drama that hasn't aired. And your guess is as good as mine. My guess is that Hee Su and Seung Won's interactions won't be the center of the drama

"You don't deserve this drama"

We don't deserve this "straight" drama, we deserve better

The thriller bits aren't thrilling or doing it for some viewers. That's where the GL swoops in to save the day. The rest of us are different and into every twist and turn

"Except there is no proof of marginalization or erasure in this drama"

There's no proof if you choose to ignore the giant elephant in the room

"Heesu's story is very obviously the primary aspect of this drama"

Unless you've got some secret intel from the production team, you can't be confident that the gay couple won't be pushed aside

They're giving us a mixed bag of gay and "straight" storylines. They can't commit to telling a fully gay story, and I can't commit to giving their mixed bag praise or a standing ovation. Commitment deserves commitment

Since when did "authenticity" become a synonym for "misery porn?" Happily, not all BLs/gay stories are a thunderstorm of sadness. They're reflecting reality's rainbow and the full range of human experiences, including the sunny side of being gay or in a gay relationship

They've messed with the source material. And that's not fear-mongering, it's pattern recognition. The removal of the second gay couple's storyline and the insertion of a "straight" storyline in the adaptation contributes to the ongoing problem of gay underrepresentation and invisibility in media, something we've seen before

No platform, however queer-friendly it claims to be, can guarantee immunity from the influence of straightwashing and homophobic censorship. The drawn-out production timeline might've given the powers that be ample opportunity to tone down or remove the half-gay content

Give them the benefit of the doubt, I won't. I've reached my limit

Adaptations bring out the pitchforks in dedicated fans. Ariel's skin tone changed in The Little Mermaid's adaptation, and the Internet lost its collective mind. Didn't you see their WW3? That's proof dedicated fans of every genre take their stories seriously. You better believe we’re going to fight tooth and nail to protect our beloved gay stories from being messed with as well

Some people want to watch two ladies fall in love while fighting crime, nothing wrong with that

I have a strong aversion to the "straight" lifestyle, and unless it's a fleeting subplot I can conveniently pretend doesn't exist, I'd rather not have it anywhere near me or the media I consume
