That's how I feel whenever Hye Ri unnie (from Girl's Day) graces my screen. My heart skips a beat, and it's not…
You're not wrong! Some Asians have the whole aging-gracefully thing down. Hye Ri is a perfect example of that, she's 30 going on 16-20

nope, it is just womance
"Sismance" or "womance" doesn't come close to describing what’s going on. These ladies have been showing all the signs of being smitten with each other

no this is different is based on a BL manhwa but the changed it to a bromance but it an overall good watch.
I meant that media's got a one-size-fits-all approach to relationships: insert woman into man's life (or insert man into woman's life), add a pinch of stereotypes, and bake until the "straight" agenda is cooked

Are we discussing agendas? I'm growing weary of the constant "straight" agenda push in mainstream media myself

I have a complete different opinion on Omegaverse. Yes, I know that people say it is a mrally grey area and I…
"... yea, because my very gay ass is somehow so homophobic and misogynistic"

Your "gay asses" have mastered the art of self-sabotage, internalizing the prejudices you claim to fight hard against

"You sound childish, and frankly ,after that comment you made about what makes someone a woman, transphobic"

"Transphobic" and "childish," you say? You can't wrap your heads around the arguments against omegaverse or gender identity ideology. Stick to simple, age-appropriate matters, please, like eating your vegetables and tying your shoelaces

"... having some level of compassion"

I have as much compassion for those wanting to have children as they have for children and the environment—none. I'll have compassion for the overworked, underpaid childless daycare workers who have to deal with other people's spawn

"This drama felt like a love letter to women"

I'd hate to see what the hate letter looks like

"It has now been added to my feminist kdrama holy trinity"

A camera doesn’t turn "straight" activities into feminism or liberation, it turns them into a product for mass consumption and arousal

Take an average drama add two girls kissing. whoop the hype machine rolls into gear and the 10 reviews start piling…
Two women kissed? What's next, whole franchises built on men and women panting through forced nudity and "sex" scenes, selling fast food with orgasm faces, etc. Oh wait ... that already happens in "straight" media and you don't complain until it’s gay media doing it

Wait, am I getting the reviews and comments right? They didn't actually censor the gay in this one?
A commenter claimed the female leads will get less intimate as the story progresses. The homophobic censors will enter the chat

Episode 5 wasn't what I had in mind when I hit play. They could’ve panned to anything, rain on a window, a flickering lamp, etc, and it would’ve been a more fitting choice than the "straight" porn Woo Ri's character was watching

I’ll endure, for the greater gay good. Hye Ri and Su Bin's chemistry is carrying the drama on its back

I personally fully agree with you on your take on Omegaverse. You put perfectly into words what I’ve been struggling…
"... but quickly realized that it’s basically thinly veiled excuse for heterosexuality"

I’m relieved to know you're seeing through the illusion/lies

I have a complete different opinion on Omegaverse. Yes, I know that people say it is a mrally grey area and I…
"Now let us not go into who should be called women or not. Because not all women menstruate or have the so called female organs"

Dormant or disrupted by age and illness, menstruation is a bodily function experienced by women. No (healthy) man has cause to check his pockets for a pad or tampon

"First, many gay couples love and want children, yes many adopt, but what if they long for their own flesh and blood? Just like any other hetero couple?"

Procreation is an exercise in narcissism, it's the belief that the world is somehow incomplete without another carbon copy of one’s neuroses, insecurities, and receding hairline

Those passing down their genetic material rather than adopting the abundance of existing children in need of homes don't long for parenthood or children. They long for a smaller, needier version of themselves to validate them (and they will deny it)

Gay relationships don't spawn clones/mini-mes, and that's a good thing. They aren't a puzzle missing a piece, or a machine in need of rewiring, to whisper, "if only" at the sight of a crib. They're perfect the way they are

"Omegaverse brings out a fantasy world for them where this is possible"
"... and normalising life of a gay couple just like any het couple"

Omegaverse dilutes and straightwashes gay relationships, burdening them with patriarchal reproductive expectations they're not meant to shoulder

"Second, this is a bit twisted. from my experience, it is mostly women who write and also read Omegaverse. Why?"

Because it has nothing to do with gay relationships and everything to do with a fetishistic distortion/dilution of gay relationships

"Another reason? Sorting through their own trauma"

Omegaverse isn't a constructive, effective coping mechanism. And its female consumers aren't burning down the house of patriarchy. They're redecorating its interiors, issuing invitations to others to partake in a remodeled oppression

"I assure you, that Omegaverse lovers are not homophobic"

I assure you that omegaverse and its "fans" are homophobic and misogynistic. I say this with the lived experience of a gay woman

What raw uncensored BL masterpiece this is literally based on an omegaverse mpreg novel.......... What are you…
Omegaverse is a homophobe's guilty pleasure. Some homophobes indulge. Some don't

The characters have chemistry but damn I'm happy they didn't make it a BL because a minor and a 50 yr old, hmm..
Aging up the character would've been a simple and elegant solution to the soul age gap. Hold the minor back a few grades or postpone the romance until after the character's graduation. Then the romance would've developed between two consenting adults, each with a mature soul

The producers swapped souls between characters, they could've also added candles to a "birthday" cake. Why didn't they? They were lazy and more interested in censoring the source material than in improving it

it is not confirmed . does it matter ?
GL does "exist in Korean media." Most times, you have to squint or use a magnifying glass to find it, but it's there

"Dramas like this are necessary"They're not necessaryNot all of us women are wandering around in your or society's…
Being a "grown ass" adult means I get to decide what I find empowering, and I don't find women letting men violate their bodies or vice versa empowering

My definition of empowerment involves women removing themselves from the clutches of men and the sex-focused narratives that reduce women's bodies to marketable goods for purchase and media consumption

Do you want to be a "grown ass" adult? Start by respecting other people's perspectives on "sex" instead of pushing yours on them

If you are prude and like plain romance with a peck of cheeks, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. drama is all about sexuality,…
"... it’s candid and not so hidden"

Displaying something doesn't elevate its quality

The mouldy contents of a neglected refrigerator are candid/open in their presentation, and nonetheless unappealing. The same can be applied to "sex" scenes. They're unappealing

Nothing about the scenes was "good" or "sexy" in the slightest

imagine being so frigid that you hate on r rated sex based k dramas. Grow up, not every k drama needs to soft…
"Dramas like this are necessary"

They're not necessary

Not all of us women are wandering around in your or society's metaphorical maze of immature horniness. I don't need explicit content to keep me going

If you can't stand hearing other people grumble about "sex," scroll past our comments or tune them out. That's what earplugs are for

Scrap this half-baked, half-straight adaptation and hand over the source material to Taiwan, Thailand, or Japan. They're more likely to treat it with the respect it deserves. Unlike Korea, they won't take forever to film or release it, and they won't sacrifice the few friendships between men and women to pacify the homophobes who'll sit through half of the adaptation
