a very well handcrafted show

Some people are pissed because they axed the BL part. I have not read the original story (which was not BL), neither the novel (which was BL), but I can't understand why people are sooooo dumb on concentrating only on this aspect. I guess they had a spot on the china market and when money talks you don't have a choice if you need financing of your project. But who really carez, everyone should judge a show on it's own merrits.

We got a great show. The story was interesting, the dynamics between the different people where interesting and the vibe of the show to have a gangster improving the lifes of the people around him was great. The side characters like the chairman, the "witch" and the four boys did not leave a mark for me, they were neither very prominent in the scenes (except in the beginning for the four deliquents) and we did not get a good background on them.

We see a character developing which is not seen often nowadays especially for Se Kyung, Jae Min and even his mother. We also see a redemption arc for Jae Min and great chemistry between Se Kyong and Deuk Pal. You feel the admiration and tension between both leads. The production quality was good as well even when they did not have a big budget, the OST was nice too.

Even with some flaws this was a refreshing drama depicting real world problems like bullying, abuse of power, depression and non existing parental skills. I also liked the light scenes inbetween a quite dark story. Overall I can recommand anyone to watch this show.

Not my cup of tea...

I don't like the mixture between comedy and drama... either do comedy or do drama but not both of them. The abusive use of the accociated soundeffects did not make it better. While Huey, Dewey and Louie are mostly fun, the hysterical girl was annoying as hell. I guess it's a trademark for BLs to have to include an annoying girl/woman in every production and that is so cliché and should not happen in 2025. But what they did again was lazy writing, because the three boys get lost im the end and did not get involved in anything... even the boy/girl-love story is left unexplored. So the pacing of the whole series is choppy at best.

The actors did a good job, even when I don't feel the main couple. I don't know what it is, both are for sure nice persons and in their way cute/handsome, but together they don't give me a spark.

So all in all a typical BL which did nothing new, played it mostly safe, had of course stereotypical baddies. Also the "ex" was an asshole but everyone forgave him in an instant, not very realistic in my book. For me, not even a medicore show, while some comedy was ok, the storyline was flat and didn't get me emotionally for most of the time. You may watch it and like it, but I did not.

As usual a "cut" version gets a 0.5 de-rating, because they may also cut important story elements, because in this series there a no NC scenes worth cutting...

not enough romance, too many characters and Keen saves the world...

I wish I could like this show more, but I can't. The romance part was over after 4 episodes without romance in the remaining episodes, besides few of the side couples. But this is the point of a BL imho. There are too many "baddies" in one show, even the men who should be good are bad. And the best acting was done by the bad overlord and the trainers son which is also a big minus in my book. While the MLs are pleasent to look at, their acting is medicore at best.

It started strong but the more episodes the more it disolved in a hot mess. But Keen has the answers for everything and he saves the world or so this series made you believe. So you can say it's more Anime style than based on reality. The only plus were the fighting scenes, so the actors really did train for that.

Overall, I'm disappointed but at least it's not a really bad show which coming from WeTV can also happen. So for the fangirls there are lots of NC scenes which are quite tasteful staged but the writing is quite weak. So, if you like you can watch it and if not, that's ok too :)

A bit childish, a bit cringe, a bit forced, a bit fluffy and a bit mature

Not sure what to write, my headline says it all. There was lazy writing, there was not so good execution and there were lots of flash-forward on the start of each episode which did nothing for the flow. It maybe an art style but it confused more than it helped.

The problems of the chars are a bit forced, a bit over the top and unresolved for too many episodes, especially regarding the "older" couple. And then it's easily resolved and everyone is happy which feels forced too.

Again lazy writing and not so much character development as needed. Also I think you could tell this story in just eight episodes, especially if they would have cut the unnecessary drama. The premise was interesting but they did too less with it, they could have shown how the couples and all of them grow together in a more meaningful way.

A nice touch was the inclusision of the follow on show MLs in the finale.

It's not a bad show, it's not a good show, it's a bit cringe, a bit fluffy, a bit silly, a bit childish, a bit mature and a bit fun. You could have watched worse.

cute but a dull main character...

What could have been a very interesting story, turned out to be in the wrong setting all together. The most thing that irked me was that the main character is a grown up man (27), still acting like a child in his puberty. Had this been a school/university setting it would have made much more sense. I understand that some people are a bit slow, but he was slow for a decade which is bit unbelievable for me. Also the barista is more of a side character not a lead, because we have no clue how he fell into love with mr. dull guy. Yes, the guy was always there getting his coffee but there were no memorable interactions between them.

While the last two episodes were the best of the series, it's a bit sad that Mr. team leader had no positive ending. I would not have been against the team leader get together with the barista, but the barista will end up with his trainer and Mr. team leader will be alone :( Maybe because he was the most mature of them all. But the shyness in the end scene is also a bit akward... if you are together for three years you won't get flustered just because you see a bare body... that's too cliché for my taste.

So, this series has a bit a split personality. The lead character was a bit dull and slow, the triple fighting for him were the more interesting people but the setting was also not ideal for this kind of a story. The acting of the three was very good, but I would see them more in an university setting. It's still easy on the eyes and it's cute to a certain point but it is missing something. Production wise I can't fault the series, it is high quality but the script is lacking. Overall a nice watch, but nothing special which is a bit disappointing.

Again very very overhyped...

The problem with many thai shows is, they try to wrap very dark themes into a comedy and I don't like it. Not everything must be funny or everything must have a cushion to protect the viewers from sad realities. And why is "Sammy" always cast as a comic relieve? Her friendship (and the friendship of the other teacher) would have had so much more impact if this role would have been serious.

For Santa this must be have fun even when he had to portrait two characters. I would think this is a challenge actors gladly take to improve their acting overall. Also Perth did a good job. Production quality was high, at least there was nothing to complain about.

I had my troubles getting into the series... the start was very weak but the longer the series run the better it got. That's a big difference compared to many other GMMTV shows which start strong and then falling off a cliff. But it's still not enough to hype this series to a 9 or even 10... For me this show is better than average but still not good enough. It could have been so much better but as usual GMMTV fails to put a serious drama on air, especially when such a theme comes with the warning of the start of every episode and a help line for people in mental duress.

Speaking cats are not my cup of tea.... A show with a bitter aftertaste

When the president of GMMTV is the executive producer of series, I know it can't be good. But I bet if they made a series where FirstKao reads the entries in the telephone-book (you remember the books you got every year in ancient times?) the reviews would be flooded with 10. So I will not be surprised when I get review-bombed (again).

Kao knows how to act, but a weak script can't save him. The show leaves an bitter aftertaste because of course this is the last show of the WinnySatang couple. They did not have a romantic storyline but just the finale revealed that they will be happily ever after. Besides that we got cringy "cat-voices" which did kill the show for me.

The recipe of most GMMTV productions is a feel good show, nothing serious, a bit fluffy and also nothing really keeping me hooked storywise. It's all just plain and simple and for me quite boring. The storyline with the mom was the highlight even when it was quite sad but besides that it had not much to offer.

Production quality was impecable this time around. The best thing I can say: the cats were adorable and I'm happy the show is over because regardless of cute animals and a cute couple, nothing could safe the series with such a lame script.

More "punch" than love...

Thanks to two people translating it, I was able to watch this :) Domo arrigato! 🙇‍♂️

I did not expect anything from it, but it feels a bit flat. My biggest critisim is, they lack some chemistry and there is not much focus on the love-part of the title. I don't mean the fluffy stuff but Mitsuru does not appear to really pursue Madoka. I can't fault the actors but the direction which did also bit focus sometimes too much on comedy for such a dark background maybe in the hope to balance it out, but it feels inappropiate at times.

On another positive side, Madoka is "out" and nobody cares :) I wish that would be true for Japan as a whole. But it makes this watch more enjoyable, because regardless he has the support of anyone, including his brother.

Fighting choreography was also not bad and we get an even an halfway decent kiss in the end which is an improvement to many JBLs. Overall quite nice to watch, with some good serious talking scenes, nice fighting but a run of the mill storyline and a lack of the "love" part.

OMG, this show is only for braindead people...

As usual with GMMTV and most thai shows this year, this show begins with a good premise, but the story and execution fall flat on the belly, like when jumping from a 10m tower.

I am speechless how bad this show is and how many people dig this. It's not the worst show this year, but it comes close. The story is boring, partly childish, all over the place, very predictable and of course both MLs have mental baggage to deal with... And everything will be resolved easily... There are some good moments, there is some production quality but overall it's bad. So it's the same story more or less then any other Thai show and the kidnapping only plays a role for 3 episodes. The actors are underutilzed, most characters are very one-dimensional and I feel sorry for them to have to do such a crap production with bad and lazy writing.

Let's talk about the portrayal of the Thai Justice System: When you watch this show, you think Thailand is the worst. Yes, there is always some corruption anywhere but come on... If I were working in that system I would be pissed about the show. The "bad" woman in this show kidnaps and tries to kill one of the leads and his dad, but the next scene shows, that she goes free for ANOTHER trial. How would that happen in real life? It would not! You would still be in jail for the OTHER thing you did. If you have been catched @ attempted murder, you will not get a free of jail card!!! Period. This was ridicilous! What are the writers and director thinking? The wrote in that she goes free and is murdered by a victim!

And don't let me start with all the product placements... GMMTV does get a cut from the actors for every ad they do, but they still have to fill up nearly every show with overbording product placements. It's so annoying and people (fangirls?) still reward such shows with a high ratings. 🤷‍♂️ So for me, this was a disappointment.

I can only recommand to watch this, if you are really really bored, otherwise most shows from Korea, Japan and Taiwan in 2024 are much more worthwhile to watch and have a consistent, well written story and good acting (because the script is well written).

OMG did it go bad in the end

While I expected the show to be good after watching the first two episodes it went downhill from there. The story has no logic and no cohesion.

First, why does Lin have a crush on Ryu? I have no clue and why does she not try to help her father much earlier? It's not ok, for team members to risk the club, but it's also not ok, to publish it without consideration for all the other members. Maybe going to the director first would have been a better solution, so the club does not get disbanded because of the actions of a few.

Second, why did Ryu not ask his mother many years earlier to watch a match? I don't get it, when BLs create "evil" one-dimensional parents.

Third, why did they need Atom to make a love triangle and do things, you don't do, when you know your interest already is taken? To have Atom kiss Zen head was appalling.

Forth, the gangster arc was interesting in the beginning but the ending was beyond stupid. Why is Que not in prison? Is the police so incompetent that they did not get it?

Fifth, while they struggeling for money, nobody gets the idea to sell their Samsung Flip phones which costs around $1000-$1300. Especially Zen and his grandma could never ever afford such a luxury item and here we also see, that in that case the director should have stepped in to say, Zen can't have it, Atom should have it, because his father looked well off.

So overall the story was a plunder as always. The MLs had a bit more to act compared to their previous shows, but they still don't shine because their roles are quite one-dimensional as well. The finale was cringe as well. Why did Zen return? What happend in Phuket? Nobody knows and the writers didn't want to know also. Such lazy writing is incredible. It's a waste of time to count more of the negatives, because there are some positives as well. Cinematography was excellent especially while the actors played basketball but in the later epsiodes the quality declines. Maybe time-constraints because Golf had to direct two shows which aired at the same time. Of course there was some fan-service but nothing eath-shattering and no sensual scenes imho. The fuck scene in the finale was over the top as well. I don't think the grandma is "poor" - she had headphones 🤣 and with her support for them, it's a non-issue. Yes, grandma was the best. And why the club still existed after they lost - nobody knows as well - it's stated in the script I assume 🤣.

Especially Ping is locked in a character-set, either a pushover or a diva or just annoying - or a combination of all, so not a chance of growing with his acting even when his third outing was better then the previous ones. For Frank it was new territory and he did play his role well and we all don't like him. Of course Meen is booked for the cool and rich one, but also his character is always similar in all the shows and some of his parents are always "evil". To summarize, the show started strong with the first two episodes and fell of a cliff because the writers had no clue what to do. You have four writers and don't manage a coherent story - that's really sad.

low budget, but quite good except the final...

Sorry, I'm late for this review, because Weak Hero Season 2 took precedence in my time-budget :)

Here we get four different love stories in one series. The first was typical what you would expect from a BL, childhood friends growing into love. The second one is the most interesting one as it involves time-travel. The third one was a very sad one and last one was so weak I asked myself why to include it and "ruin" the series with it.

While the budget was low, the episodes short, the acting was good except the last one but overall miles ahead of most of the thai BLs we "have" to watch. So even the independent small studios can produce a good series with a low budget. I would suggest you skip the last two episodes and enjoy the first six episodes.

Short but great :)

Kiba-san works in a welfare-type facility for children with disabilities, where children who cannot live with their parents due to various reasons live together. One day the little boy Ritsu arrived who has been neglected by his parents, who does not speak but is drawn to Kiba. After some weeks of happy living Ritsu has to go back to his mum...

Overall a heartwarming movie, based on a true story, about a social worker who does care about all the children he is responsible for. Jun of course acts believable and he's heartbroken when Ritsu has to leave. I won't spoil the end, but it's not a bad one. So, if you have free 23 minutes, watch this short-movie!

Not as bad as "Dare You to Death"...

As usual with "police dramas" - the police work makes no sense and is completely unbelievable.... Then we also have the lazy writing especially of Wayus mom. Gambling addiction does not "heal" over night. I mean they have team of four writers and all of them can't put a realistic story to paper. And of course we have the 08/15 cliché homophobe father, who this time, did not die but made a 180 degrees turn in a matters of days.

And whats with all the dancing throughout every episode? Yes he is a host, yes he is sexy and yes he can dance, but we don't need to be reminded of it every damn episode... it was just a filler to strech out the episodes. Especially the first half of the show was too much lacorn for my taste.

There are some redeeming properties of this show, especially the involvment of a special needs kid was a nice touch. There is no doubt about their chemistry either, but the acting was a bit meh. I think the support actors/actresses did a better job.

So overall, I don't agree with the hyped reviews here again - as mostly usual. I don't think it's a bad show, but it's not good either. At least it was all framed quite nicely, so production quality was well enough. It's a show you can watch, but not a show you must watch.

"Toxic" is too mild...

First of all I will not dive too much into this series.
You have lot's of reviewers who will explain any detail for you, but I can't be bothered.

While the acting was amazing all characters in this show do need psycho-therapy. All of them. While "psycho professor" & "angry director" do need it most, the other two need it too.

To have a BL where love is regarded as "business" leaves a bitter taste on my tongue. Also the co-worker who at least does not care about Daons background has also a problem with accepting a) rejection and b) listening. I find it quite annoying when characters refuse to listen.

And then there is the lackluster finale... Because it's a BL we get a happy end. Oh would it be so much better if Co-Worker just died and that would be the end for all. But no, he must get his Daon so all the fangirls are happy. Also the final kiss was not that good compared to the scene in his apparment when he was drunk...

Cinematography was top notch, all the details were amazing... but imho it was quite wasted on such a story imho. I liked the beginning but it then spiraled out of control especially with the "angry director" and the "psycho professor". Also who would go for a presentation when the co-worker got stabbed? Would you not inform the attendence and scrap it? Or is it a work-related thing in Korea, that business must go on regardless of what happend? That did not make much sense to me. And then Mr. Director appologizing? Nah, unbelievable, you can't reflect in such a short time on the 11 years you did all the crap.

So overall I'm a bit split about this series, even when I don't mind toxic storylines. It's an above average show, but the story will not be to everyones taste which is a plus in my book but the finale was disappointing for me.

cliché story, bad lip-syncing, bad sound-effects, no happy end

I thought, that could be nice, but it isn't. Even indoors they do not record the original audio, they lip-sync everything which ruins the flow and on top of it, they add foot-steps and other effects as well. The story is quite easily told. The older "boy" "adopted" the younger one - but of course a child can not adopt anyone... it's not really explained. But for arguments sake we asume the younger one was adopted and the older one took care of the younger one and they grew up together. And because they are so close the younger one falls in love with his brother, but is refused, even when it's obvious he is also in love.

That is quite similar to the series "Unknown" but with a big difference. The story was way way better and made sense, the older brother confronts his own feelings even after he refused him also. Also a difference, the older one was not styled as metrosexual or gay... at least for me he had more gay vibes compared to the younger one. So to run away from his brother and ask for a date with a girl was weird to me.

Overall this is not a series to recommand and the weird audio made it even worse and imho ruins the acting, which was not bad. If you can cope with a "bad" ending, you can watch it, but it would be better if you watch something else.
