The most cliché redflag/good guy "romance" ever...

After "Bad Guy My Boss" I hoped the next thing should be better, but no it's still a pile of crap. The worst thing is GagaOOLala picked this diarrhea up and polluted their content.

It starts with an narcistic egoistic asshole meeting a good guy and of course the good guy falls heavily for the asshole regardless of warnings previously given. And when the inevitable happens he has to cry himself to sleep. But of course the asshole gets a miraculous redemption arc because - the script says so. Yeah of course love can move mountains but people are not mountains. 🤣

I don't know why girls dig such shit, because this series still has a rating of 7.1... WTF? What's wrong with you people? This series is so awful it's not only a waste of your time, it's a waste of the money that was invested. Of course it's a tad better compared to 4Destiny, but it's just a different taste of shit. Could they please stop making such series? Nobody needs them, because they only thing which was watchable where all the nc-scenes because fanservice is king or so it seems.

A show appealing to mostly girls?

As expected this review section is flooded with 10... and the MDL rating as of now is at a 9... and when I see that, I have to ask myself: Did we see the same show? And as usual, this review is only valid for the UNCUT version. Do not ever watch a cut version, because besides cutting nc-scenes, they also cut story-elements (which will not be that fatal in this series imho). For reasons unknown MDL sometimes seperates them and sometimes does not, but be aware on youtube you get a cut version.

While the performances overall are good, the script is crap. The series tried to walk the fine line between comedy and cringe and Duang (the character) crosses into the cringe territory almost every time, which is so annoying, obnoxious and has nothing to do with "cute". Qin on the other hand behaves like a morron because his childhood was sooooo bad *bruhuhuhu*, sorry that's not an excuse for being a jerk most of the time. They even wrote in "red flag Qin" doing the absolute wrong things and then having him emotional blackmail Duang. Sorry, that's neither cute nor necessary nor should anyone (especially teens) learn from such behaviour. The epsisodes are also uncessary long because they only drag out and don't do anything with the side characters. NorthOtto had an interesting beginning but it faded away and suddenly in the finale he (Otto's character) was introduced to all of them (with too much makeup imho) and no explaination, no talk before - nothing. If you remember, in ep 1+2 we had the "Cherrie" storyplot and nothing happened till the finale where "ups I was Cherrie, so sorry" "confession" and that's in the same scene. Overall this scene felt so forced and cringe, I can't even find the right words for it. This script was just lazily written!

There is a redeeming quality to this show: When Duang and Qin talk alone in a serious tone, it changes the whole series. It is actually well done. I think they could not decide if this should be a comedy or a drama and mixing both gave this series a great inbalance. All the dog references with the stupid sound effects are just cringe and then bringing a dog into the finale - OMG - who thinks of something like that. While the NC-scenes were tastefully made, it shocked me, that in the finale they cut the NC-scene sooo short... that's quite unusual. The second redeeming quality is the OST which is also well done. This is Domundi/Mandee so production quality was very good as well.

But even with this redeeming qualities of the series, this show can only be "average". They had a chance to tell multiple stories in a wider arc but as usual, they failed. It's more a cringe fest for over half of the series. If I ever had such a partner I would kick his ass to the moon or even farther. For me this is a series is clearly targeted to escapists and girls. Nothing wrong with it, but for escapism I don't need a series, there are a lot of other alternatives. Thai shows don't understand how to do "cute" - the last "cute" show was "School Trip" and it had not any nonsense in it (besides the behaviour of some girls and a brother), but both MLs and even their friends were very likeable. Here, I think the actors are cute and nice people, but their characters are just unlikable. That may sound hard, but that's my impression. Also Domundi could not shy away to slap us with ads in our face again, which is soooo annoying. They could have skipped the Japan trip and saved some money going somewhere inside Thailand and made a destination pay for it. But no... for some reason it had to be Japan. If they would only watch JBLs and get inspiration from there.

I wish they had forgone with the comedy part and made it only as drama. Also the should have resolved Qins Daddy/Mama-issues in a more engaging way, just 1/3 of an epsiode is not good enough. So, in the cosmos of university BLs, this was not the worst, but it was also not good.

Very sweet & cute, lacks some substance but still a good show

The story is nothing new, but executed well. Only the finale is a bit disappointing. We could have had two episodes and could have seen Amasawa growth and reflection of what happend, not the typical "but we are two guys" 🤮 stuff, But that's expected from a manga done by a woman for women. The (male) directors/screenwriters did change the end of the manga which now is more sensible and makes more sense, but not really got into the struggles for Amasawa in depth. We also don't know what happend betweens Isumi and his dad, except what he told him (Amasawa). The only thing which does not matter is, if they are the same age or 10 years apart. Who carez about that? I don't. What I also appreciate of the directors was that the two characters did not have the dominant masculine and submissive femenin vibe and Isumi is also not a Tsundere which would be also typical for JBLs. So they did improve from the manga a lot.

So the final verdict is that Tanaka Koki was the showrunner and without him, this show would be very forgettable, He did an exceptional job and filled his character with emotions and made it fun to watch. Isumi itself is a contrast with his puppy look but deep timbre. They also avoid stupid things which are Thai shows are famous for and for gods sake no stupid sound effects 🤣. As usual in most JBLs there isn't any real kissing which is lame. Production quality was great, filming in "their" confined apartments must have been a nightmare.

Even if it's a womans fantasy it's a good show. So after watching heavy stuff like "Happy of the End" an episode of this will build you up and will ligthen your mood considerable and at least for me, made me smile a lot. This is a light comedy done (mostly) right.

From bully to lover...

That was an unusual JBL. While we know how bullies are, our protagonist (Naoya) is not the bully in a normal way. Of course the victim (Takaaki) is also unusual because he has fallen for him since before we see. It's not a violent bullying btw, but they did not show us how it all started.

The reason of course was his dominant father. Over time their relationsship changes. Our bully recognizes his faults and changes for the better, improving himself and his life while the victim who would like to keep him in a golden cage recognizes that a strong partner is not bad either.

As usual the finale disappoints. It felt rushed, the "revenge" arc was handled in 2 minutes by just telling what happened and that left me a bit disappointed. This series would have needed two more episodes to make that struggle more visible and while there were flashbacks to explain their relationship, there was none which showed how it all began. This is a let down in my book. To let change the dad in his final scene was of course a fairy tale, because someone like him would not change in a heartbeat. At least we will get a special but that's of course just a nice end for this show.

Highlight of the show was the strong companionship in the restaurant where everyone supports everyone, that was a nice touch. And of course the development of the main couple which gradually changed in a mature way without pressure or drama. Naoya also manages to encourage his brother Yuma who looked very weak in the beginning and grew up during the show. Of course this series is not a fluffy feel-well series, it started with a strange couple but over time it is easy to understand their motivations. A show worth watching imho.

Neither fish nor fowl...

A typical Sukfilm short series, but in this case too short... We already know that appartment and that "bar". Especially the bar is lifeless because it's just a wall with a table... Also the story is on the shallow side even when the premise from the outset was good. But I feel they would have needed two more episodes to make the story stick. Also in typical Sukfilm manner, they use some clichés which are annoying.

So this is neither bad nor good... it's a bit over average because the leads did a good job. Because there are only four episode each around 8 minutes long, it's just an half hour to watch through this and which makes this ok.

40 shorts make a lackluster short movie...

I'm not a fan of vertical series/movies. It takes away too much video space and camera work is limited. Even when you watch on a phone, I don't understand why not to turn the phone to landscape mode... Also a negative is, that subtitles are very small which takes more concentration to read them. So that is a derating by default for me.

The story is not that bad, but not great either. To have an influencer pair having a fake relationsship is nothing earth shattering, but the story does tell us the girl did it only because she still liked him - it's bullshit. If they really had 800k subscribers they would do it for the money and nothing else. The ML in this pairing gave off more gay vibes compared to his love interest, so I would have switched the roles to make it more believable.

Both leads did a good job even when I felt the chemistry was lacking but otherwise the series was lacking. It takes about 50 minutes to watch all 40 "episodes" which is lame as well. There is no depth of the story and the characters. The side characters are just here to fill the space, and yes the format does not help either. At least the kissing was decent. So my final verdict is, you may watch it when you are bored, but you won't miss a thing if you skip it.

That was entertaining!

That was my first japanese GL and I have to say, it was fun. While they had lots of comedy elements, they also tried to be mature and serious.

I loved the dynamics and chemistry of all the actresses/actors with the only minus point for me: the lackluster kissing... Either do it or don't but pressing lips together (dead fish-kiss) is a big no-no for me regardless of gender :) The second cringe moment was in the finale with the FLs kissing in the office. I guess they could have done that much better.

But overall an entertaining show with some laughs, production quality was very good too, costumes especially for Ayaka always interesting. So, if you never have tried a GL, this one is good starting point!

What was that?

Was this a tourist ad or should it be a soft porn?
I have no idea... there was not much of a story, there was not really much of emotion, there was stiff acting, there was fan service.
The only upside are the nice places in Tokyo, otherwise this was very forgetful. At least it was not as a pain to watch compared to other series last year.. because besides some sex scenes not much happend at all. No idea why you spend money on such a production, because this could not have been that cheap, even when the actors didn't get much payment.
So, if you have not watched it, just skip it otherwise I feel your pain.

PS.: Dear MyDramaList Admins, why can't we vote with a 0? The rewatch value of this "show" is non existent, even a 1 is too much.
PPS.: Why there is a 6 rating overall I really, really have no clue...

The typical toxic chinese BL with a twist...

How to rate this? On one hand I despise the story, on the other hand it was done so perfectly. Of course I'm a bit sick of all the toxic chinese BLs because, do we really need that much toxicity? Is the world not toxic enough? As far as I can tell, the toxicity level was reduced compared to the first installment and the novels, on the other hand the scenes where Lu Feng is holding Yi Chen captive and abuses him are very painful to watch.

And then Yi Chen is also sick - with Stockholm syndrom - and deciding to stay with Lu Feng in the end. But of course he decided against him first because he is the knight in shining armor to protect the love of his brother who also happens to be gay. Of course his family did not help. At least his shitty father had the decency to die in a rage outbreak, but his mother still insisted that he would marry. And because Yi Chen is Yi Chen he does what his mother wants, even when she also dies soon after. Why the woman who loved him, did marry him, knowing he is gay, is beyond me. So it seems she is also sacrifing herself. But at least they get a divorce and because they changed the script, they don't have a child, so there was no intimicy whatsoever.

It's a bit sad, that we have always such characters especially in BLs. Yi Chen sacrifices himself - for what? Lu Feng was driven mad and due his medical condition, it escalated. At least in the finale we get the medical reason why Lu Feng did all the shitty things he did, which is neither in the book nor in most other toxic BLs. His bipolar disorder - also formely known as manic depression - at least explains a lot. He was a maniac for sure. Xi Chen did the only reasonable thing and forced him to get the treatment he needed for more than ten years.

Production quality was of course top notch and the OST was excellent. Acting was also very good for me. So, as usual, everyone who has mental issues should definitively not watch this series. At least with Yi Chen brother and his lover we got the typical fluffy BL stuff many wish for but only in limited quantity. Watch at your own peril!

medicore show with a good vibe

OMG, was 2024 a hard year for thai shows. Many shows were childish, immature and poorly written with forgettable storylines and often boring as fuck.

What this "university" show did different: It was not as childish, it was not that immature, it had a 2:1 screen ratio (loving it because I don't have a TV since forever) and the vibe compared to all the similar shows (yes I mean all the GMMTV/Sabi Wabi crap) was miles ahead. I can't explain it really, but when watching this, I had a smile on my face regardless of some clichés & forced drama (ep 11) and some cringe scenes. And of course they did polish the presentation to new heights. Not only are the actors cute/handsome as fuck but also the cinematography did everything to perfection especially in the emotional scenes.

Makes this a good show? Of course not. The story is still poorly written without hights and with forced drama. But everything else was executed in a very good way, had a good vibe and was still enjoyable to watch. Overall I expected less and got more :)

Edit:
After knowing what was cut from this version, this makes the show not even medicore, because, they did cut away all the stuff a BL should be about - intimacy... especially the finale had a nice twist in it which can't be seen in the cut version, so a downrating is appropirate. Don't watch the cut version, it's a waste of time, only watch the uncut version!

Lovely setting, Nut going overboard...

While that's not my cup of tea normally, I found this series better than I would have expected. Nut had the role of his life but for my taste it was overbording most of the time. It's a mixture of comedy and drama with a touch of time-travel with too much focus on the comedy part. I would have wished they would have tuned it down, then I could have enjoyed it even more.

The side-couple was underutilized, they did not even resolve their story in the end and left them open-ended. We can assume they are also together but they had no romantic moment in the finale which was disappointing for being the more interesting couple in my eyes. I'm a bit split if they had to change history and make the country a democracy at that time. That seems a bit silly, but I approve that "Prince" went not back when he had the choice and stayed because of love. I also wish they would have condensed the story a bit more, so around 10 episodes would have been enough.

Overall, production quality was very good, the setting was something different than usual and it may entertain you. The first half of the series was imho better than the later half which is also a downer. But it's not a series that I would watch again.

OMG, why is this crap produced and this crap liked?

First, there was no magic to this show whatsoever. It was so over the top that, it was cringe² ... to begin a relationship with lies is never a good start. That the other partner knew it was a lie and did nothing to not let it spiral out of control was the cherry on top. Thai writers have neither imagination nor a glimpse of real life.

The magic stones confused me in the beginning, why is there glowing and so on, when they don't do anything with it? Why do they use stones at all? Did they have any relevance in this series? Why are Ritt's phrophecies accurate when he has no clue at all... Questions the writers never asked. To make Ritt a more or less alcoholic by his friend is also nothing what I would decribe as "fine". It's irresponsible in my book.

Edit: I guess I have to rant a bit more... The mother of the soon to be idol: Typical mom, projecting and forcing her son to be what she never could and then a 180° turn, yes, I understand you - WTF? There was no development, no struggle for herselves, she just turned and everything was fine. I call Bullshit, when I see it.

I could rant a lot about this show, but I have better things to do. It was part of the crap thai BL april/may line-up which could never have been produced and nobody with a working brain would miss them. And yes, the haters are going to tell me, that I assume that everyone liking it, has no working brain - and yes, that's true. If you like it, then there is something wrong with you 🤣 But that is only my opinion, not a fact.

Besides some pretty framed pictures this show has nothing to go for it, also visual the two couples are quite similar especially with the tall guys. There is of course some f*cking because the fans expect this, but the whole thing was just stupid. If you are limited in time, don't bother with this show and if you have time, find something else to watch, maybe a series which has nothing to do with BL at all...

The most bullshit story of the year!

All my negative points
1. hetero to gay tropé
2. ridiculous story
3. excessive pathos
4. worst sister ever
5. clichés en masse
6. vertical

That's all I have to say, it's one of the crappiest BLs I have watched ever. But seeing other reviews and the ratings, most girls like this fantasy world, but I'm not a girl. 🤣 I have no understanding why someone can like this at all. So, I'm very sorry, but this is trash which is not good in any way even when the production quality is good.

Basic 08/15 choppy story with no real heights...

What's with the 1 minute episodes?
Why not release 10 8min or even better 4 20min episodes?
It does not improve story-telling when it's chopped up in so many mini pieces...

Besides that, the drama was 08/15 corporate greed with dead parents and a conspiracy. Of course there are two teenagers not able to man up their feelings. The story felt sooooo basic without any unique points.

So overall it was not even medicore, it was barely passable. If you don't have enough time to watch good series, you should skip it.

exccentric but not even medicore.

If you are a Thai major in a university and you have a native speaker there, would you not speak thai? :)
This different language and it's explaination made no sense at all. And if you are friends and grew up together, would you not be able to speak each other languages after a time?

I would have wished, they would have not the "murder" case in it, which was clumsy and unrealistic and concentrating more of the MLs opening up their feelings for each others more in detail. They could even save money by only have eight episodes. 🤣

The show was ok-ish, besides the fluffy moments and some character growth of the MLs, it did not have anything special or worth remembering. Again a show which did not need to exist and if you do two languages, just don't explain it at all and nobody would care so much about it.
