I dont know if the political intrigue taking centre stage would have worked for bl audience - particularly TNP audience who are mainly interested in romance, costumes and fairy tales.

I think the audience was misled by the way this drama has been told and the way it has been filmed and edited. We were set us up to have, or to imagine different expectations about his character.

He never came across as not passionate in fencing (he practised and corrected his errors to improve his fencing). He did not come across as spoiled in the first episode particularly with his behaviour towards his "father". He also an showed interest in his home country.

Maybe NN acting is not good enough to covey the complexity of the actual character you described in the novel. He comes across as a one dimensional bratty princess floating around in pretty costumes, and who has suddenly discovered that people suffer, and has taken an interest in "finding the truth", while his main passion and focus is chasing Charan for sexy times.

Of course she is busy. It takes time to stalk us all and write drivel. Just below this post (and ironically above my other post) she has written an analysis of sex scene that totalled 1347 words or 4 pages in word (i could not resist a word count for research purposes).

I am only watching this show because of people like her. This show may not be engaging but this comment board is. It makes me laugh.

We dont need to like all the actors and can hate the plot but you dont cross the line to make it a personal attack. Its pathetic.

This comment board is so much fun. I love reading the comments both from those defending and those critiquing the show. A comment that is not fawning over the actors and show is deemed controversial by over zealous fans (which makes it entertaining).

Some users are getting so emotional and upset at the slightest criticism popping up on every comment to defend their show. One user commented that she is analytical and scored 100% thinking points on a Myers-Briggs test , yet gets so rattled up and emotional because her feelings pervade. She is the one policing this site. (PS Myers-Briggs is considered pseudo science by psychologists).

Some of my thoughts
-The singing scene was about as inspiring as the Pepsi add with Kendal Jenner.
-The nc scene was comical and cringe. Its obvious that it was written by a woman romanticising gay sex. And if you tell me that the two lead actors were involved in creating the scene then I'm embarrassed for them. If they want to do sensual they should learn from Two Worlds (cave scene) and Battle of the Writers ( role-playing scene).
-I wish the writers made me care about the story and the characters. I am watching it because of friends, and because its fun to critique it
-They should have focused more on BDSM couple. They are cute.
-EDIT NetJJ is also cute - they also deserve more attention

Style over substance unfortunately. Im watching it (with friends) but it does not engage me.

I am sad that they spent so much on this - to end up with something so bland. It does not engage.

A simple story with a good script and good editing is essential, instead on focusing on costumes and castles. There are other potential deserving dramas with smaller budgets but with more substance that could have been made.

Im a fan of Jeff - he is good looking in very striking kind of way, but Gameplay has got something special that creeps up on you (at least me) and suddenly im more obsessed with Gameplay. I like his features, particularly his eyes. He looks younger then his age, and there is a vulnerability.

I just watched Love with benefits because he was in it. He has chemistry with anybody it seems.

I loved Eternal Summer, Love in the big city, Only friends, My stand in, The on1y one (the last two were written by women i think). Im not projecting my fantasies, but to me those shows feel more authentic.

There is a diff between a femme gay character and a bl character written by a female writer who has the insight of a 13 year old girl romanticising how a bl character behaves. Gelboys was done well. It was written by both male and female writers. I didnt enjoy Gelboys but I scored it high.

Bl are about mxm but also targeted at straight woman. What a straight woman likes is not what a gay person or a queer person would like. So straight bl audience generally wont prefer watching feminine bl characters. Its the same with GL couples. They are forced in Thai bl shows as if they were the "affirmative action" couple.
And they are trying to appeal to too many target markets. Gay men would not be watching lesbian p0rn. Its not about hate.

I agree that there is no single correct way a gay man or any queer person would behave BUT you can say that about all humans. One thing I have learned (from gay friends and reading discussion on reddit r/askgaybros ) is that they differentiate between being gay and being queer. (In fact I was surprised at the disdain towards queer and trans).
Different groups have different preferences and thai bls in particular are trying to satisfy them all.

But the problem I have with Thai bl characters is that they are not written authentically.

I can agree with you but its difficult to be authentic and I dont think a lot of Thai female writers are competent. They get carried away and project too much. It would not hurt them to run it past someone more in tune with how a gay male in that situation would behave.

Judging by the way a lot of thai bl male characters are written, I would think they behave like 15 year old girls. Other countries eg China - portray it a lot better from what I have seen).

I struggled to watch this - confused and bored. But I stayed because of the nc scenes. They were worth it. They were done so well.

I would have liked a less confusing, and more logical story. Fault is with editing and the story. Most times simple stories and less confusing plots work better. Less is more.

I would like it if more gay men were involved in writing bls.

Im female so I would never assume that I could understand things 100% from a male perspective. Even if I was queer it would not make me a gay man.
