A Possible Alliance & The New Year Blessings

This show surprises me more and more with every episode. I love the games everyone is playing, the pieces being moved, the lies being fed, and all the backstabbing. This episode was beautiful in many ways, especially watching how deeply in love Chang Yu and Yan Zheng are. The preparation for the New Year was so heartwarming. It was so nice to see Zheng agree to write blessings for the whole village—including Granny Keng! Even though he stated before that he doesn’t do things on demand, only when he wants to, he did it for them.If I understood correctly, is Qi Min a former Crown Prince of Changzhou? Was he the prince who was caught in the fire with the Marquis’s father? That would definitely explain the possible scars! I have to say—if Qi Min and the Marquis of Wu’an team up, I am so for it! They could be the "baddest of the bad" on the battlefield. That’s exactly what I want to see from freedom fighters: going all-in against the enemy. The only concern now is making sure Qi Min doesn't betray our Zheng.I cannot wait for the next episode and many more after that. I need to see what happens next!

A very scary man and kids in the chest

Very Qianqian-centric episode! We finally got to learn more about her past. I am not sure yet if the grey-haired man, Qi Min, is the one she's been hiding from, but she feels like she knows him and has those nightmares where he's in a mask. She said he had a different voice and a scarred face back then... so I wonder, maybe some magical medicine cured the man? He seems very possessive of her, obsessed even. Not sure if that can be called love, but we'll see. He has such a scary aura and a chilling way of talking. Also, it looks like he's sick, coughing from time to time—I wonder if he coughs blood? It wasn't really shown yet.But I loved how he dealt with the drunkard Mr. Wu and that gossiper Mrs. Sang! They both deserved every bit of that and much more for everything they did.Ning and Bao Er were so cute together! I really loved the part when the kids ran from room to room—the camera work was amazing there. I was so scared for them when Qi Min heard that noise while they were hiding in the chest... omg, I prayed they would be fine! Thanks to that random man who accidentally pushed the lantern, they were. Phew... Zheng found them in the most adorable "sleep-together" afterward. :)Chang Yu's jealousy bits were perfect! Let's see how she'll act when her husband pretends to be Qianqian's husband. That is, if he agrees...

The Marquis Wu'an enters the stage

Zheng's love for Chang Yu reached yet another level in this episode, showing the Marquis of Wu'an's true ruthlessness toward that meat guy. I loved how he turned so fierce and protective, ready to kill just because that guy "wanted to scare her". Uff, the feels! I loved every single bit of it.I was so looking forward to seeing how the plot with Gongsun and the disguised scholar would evolve. This episode revealed her as the Grand Princess, Qi Shu. Gongsun recognized her and noticed the Empress Dowager An, using her as a distraction to lure Li Huai'an away from the Marquis. He had to give up his heart for that plan; I saw how sad it made him to lose the Go partner he had waited so long to meet. The Princess’s heart just broke as well from this unwanted separation. I really like this couple, and I hope the plot eventually works in their favour.I am still very intrigued by Yu Qianqian's background. Who was the man she married? Who is the father of her son? Who is she hiding from? It really looks like she and Qi Min have a history. Either way, the plot is thickening and slowly moving into the next phase. I expect a major shift soon, as way too many people now know the Marquis is alive. I can see the chessboard of the political game moving, and a war is clearly brewing.P.S. I just can't... the actor playing Zhou Ran, Han Yi Ting, looks so much like a young Hou Ming Hao... those eyes!

The mystery of the Fan family

I am relieved that Prime Minister Wei is not after the Fan sisters anymore. However—were their parents traitors to the Wei family? What is the link there? Were they relatives or subordinates? I know Chang Yu said her father spoke only good words about the Marquis of Wan, and our Zheng has some memory scraps of Fan Erniu's teachings. He probably knows him by a different name... I would love to learn the Fan family’s mysterious secret. That, too, probably happened during those 16 years ago everyone keeps mentioning.Somehow, I am not sure if I can fully trust Yu Qianqian's intentions toward our Chang Yu. Her backstory is mysterious enough to keep an eye on her; sometimes I think she acts weird or suspicious, as if she's hiding something. The highlights of every single episode, of course, are our little Ning—so sweet and truthful—and our loving couple growing closer to each other with each episode. ❤️

It get's so complicated!

I am so happy our lovebirds finally kissed!! It was such a sweet, tender moment. The way Yan Zheng lured her into bed, his embrace... uff! 👌It’s a pity they got interrupted, though. As for the rest of the episode... my mind is blown by the schemes, hidden agendas, and secrets. I still don't understand who is on whose side!I’m biased toward the Wei family being among those who want the Marquis dead, but what about the Li family? I’m not clear on them yet. And what was in the box General He sent to Chancellor Wei? Were the "daughters" he mentioned the Fan sisters—Fan Erniu’s daughters?Maybe the Fan sisters are originally from the Dayin region, and Zheng is from the Yanzhou region, making them potential rivals or enemies? Then there’s Prince Changxin of Changzhou... so many characters, factions, and names, all wrapped in a political game linked to events from 16 years ago. My head is exploding! I need to start understanding what happened and why. Did Zheng’s mother also kill herself 16 years ago? 🤯

Plot thickens

It was so funny to watch Gongsun's reactions to everything the Marquis had agreed to do there—even marriage! His face was priceless when he saw his falcon caged :) And all those scenes with the imaginary Chang Yu... loved it!We met Yu Qianqian, and it looks like she was the lady in the carriage in Episode 6. I thought it was Song Yan's betrothed and a possible guilty party in Fan Daniu's death, but now that theory is scratched. I also expected that maybe General He was both Xie Zheng's master and Chang Yu's father, but it seems like that theory is also in vain, since the General is still alive somewhere. We finally get to see how and why Zheng was there in Episode 1, under the snow and almost dead. So he's investigating and was badly injured in a battle, then escaped the white-coated men... and the case is somehow coincidentally linked to the Fan family. Intriguing! We’ll see how it goes. However, I am a little worried. I have a feeling that during the Spring Festival, something will go down—for example, those guys on the undercover mission could recognize the Marquis if he decides to join Chang Yu in the restaurant. Also, they decided to watch her and the Wei's death warriors closely; even that could lead to someone recognizing our Marquis. I am not sure if that would be for better or worse, because I’m not sure which side they are on. I hope they are allies; they seem nice, but that can be misleading. And the ending? Okay... let's see what happens next with our lovebirds! :)

Marquis in hiding

Well, well, well... so the stranger Yan Zheng turns out to be the fallen Marquis Wu'an, Xie Zheng—rumored to be a ruthless and brutal man who died in battle. Half the world is looking for him! I am not sure yet who wants the Marquis alive and who doesn't, but I think the two who escorted Chang Yu back home hope he's alive.I loved how Chang Yu got so flustered whenever she accidentally said, touched, or saw anything inappropriate regarding Zheng. 🤭And it was a delight to watch how she made Yan Zheng "mourn" the Marquis. It was funny, but also very sad at the same time.

A plan to keep the house

Chang Yu is such a badass!!! Single-handedly kicking the butts of four men. 💪🤩Ning is such a sweetie pie and she must be protected at all costs! And the elder couple are golden!!!! They are the best matchmakers and not shy to talk about Zheng's "parts". Love it!!I cannot wait for their wedding and marriage. So excited for the upcoming episodes!!!And the white hawk just observes them... hmm... what's the significance of that bird? 🤔

Loved the atmosphere and the scenery. I am intrigued and wanna see more!

First of all, I must praise the beautiful scenery and music—they are truly captivating. I’ve always loved a snowy winter, and the setting fits the story beautifully. There wasn't much opportunity to catch the full chemistry levels of our leads yet, but the sparks are definitely there. I loved how diverse the episode was—there were plenty of funny, sad, and tense moments—enough to draw a viewer in!However, despite this being only the first episode, I’ve already pinned a few questions I want answers to:1. Is Yan Zheng a deserter, and is that why he’s running and hiding?2. Who sent him that message with the white hawk?3. Who are those men in white coats chasing our ML?4. Was he near death because of the battle in his memories, or is there another reason?I loved Chang Yu’s braids! They were simple and perfect for the northern atmosphere and her lifestyle. I really hope she gets her mother’s hairpin back soon! I could sense how hard it was for her to part with it.Overall, I am already intrigued and want to watch the next episode! And, of course, I’m excited to see Zhang Linghe as a lead, as I’ve only seen him as a secondary character before.

Great show with a satisfying finale

I had heard that this show is too long, has a rushed ending, and statue-like kisses. But guess what... it wasn't any of those rumors. The show was great, the ending was very satisfying and well-earned. I really loved it and, of course, above all, loved Ding Yuxi. ❤️✨

The truth revealed

Finally, we learn the truth! I now understand what Madam Xe meant by "predetermined" and why the Empress Dowager gave power to Lai Luozhi so easily. I knew there was something behind all of that, and it turns out it was all part of Shen Du's well-thought-out trap. His father's name will finally be cleared, and now all that's left is for him and Yan Xing to find each other again and live happily until the end of their days! ❤️✨

Ready for the final countdown

Some of my theories turned out wrong, but others were spot on! I was so relieved to get confirmation that Yan Xing truly understood why Shen Du suddenly changed. I can't wait for them to get back together and show that sweet love they have for each other again. ❤️But I still don’t understand one thing: the Empress Dowager's motives for giving so much power to Lai Luozhi. From that bedroom scene, it seemed she trusted him blindly... Did she really think he would be forever grateful for her helping him climb the ladder? It doesn't quite click for me, especially since she doubted him so much earlier in the show. 🤨 I’m waiting to see how she plans to stop him now!I am so anticipated to see how Yan Xing and Shen Du will finally turn the tables for good! Only 2 episodes left!

Does Shen Du have a plan?

This episode continued to crush my heart because of the pain all of this is causing Shen Du and Yan Xing. I won't comment much, because I just can't. All I can think of now is—what is Shen Du's plan? How does he plan to get out of this mess and save the ones he loves, the city, the country, and all its people?I hope he and Yan Xing will find a way to secretly work together while Shen Du has infiltrated the enemy's camp and is watched all the time.

A heart-shattering episode

This episode broke me. My heart is in turmoil. All of it was such a devastating blow. 😭 💔I cheered for the bravery of some, I cried for the sacrifices of some, and I held my breath for even the tiniest shimmer of hope. The situation now is unimaginable—it feels like the Death Eaters have taken over the world. The streets are empty, and everyone rebellious or "inconvenient" is being killed. The house of cards is crashing, and pure chaos reigns. It was so full of heavy emotions and impossible decisions that it’s hard to even comment properly. All I can hope now is that Yan Xing realizes the true reasons behind Shen Du’s actions and finds a way to pull him away from Lai Luozhi’s clutches. I’m still holding onto the hope that Chui Chui can help—I still think Lai Luozhi might listen to her, even if only a little. But Madam Xu saying this was all "predetermined"? It makes me wonder if this chaos is just a grand plan for someone else to emerge from the shadows as the "savior." Lai Luozhi’s mother is still a mystery... perhaps she is the only straw left to grasp to finally pacify him? 🤔

I am confused now.

I am very confused after this episode! On one hand, we have the clear villain Lai Luozhi, but on the other—what if he is just a pawn in someone else's game? What did that "Hoe" mark on his chest actually mean?I feel like they resolved the Musician case too quickly; it felt a bit too easy. And then the Empress Dowager suddenly falls ill and hands all that power to Lai Luozhi? Her illness definitely doesn't feel natural. I thought she might be weakening from grief, but now I’m not so sure.So many people seem suspicious now, especially Lai Luozhi’s sister and Princess Runming. I’m hoping the next episode gives us answers about Lai Luozhi’s mother.I have to confess: even though Lai Luozhi is the villain, I felt compassion for him in this episode. All evil deeds aside, his loneliness is palpable. Dealing with that kind of isolation can warp a person's character, and it seems he’s filling that void with an insatiable greed for power. Kudos to Mao Zi Jun—he is playing this conflicted villain brilliantly!
