For XL - he knew because she sang to lure the feifei animal. That animal can only be attracted by a woman's voice, hence he know XiaoLiu real identity is a woman.

As for Xuan, he didn't interact with her enough and she was always more guarded toward him than the other two. Plus the artifact she had to change her identity is VERY powerful and cannot be decipher using just magic. The other two if they didn't have experience with Xiao Liu, wouldn't be able to tell she's a woman just by magic alone.

in the drama, she is presenting as a man right now so the character is referring to Xiao Liu as "he". but frankly she and he sound the same in Chinese so it doesn't matter much.

XL is free spirit and does not crave power. He don't care about having his own kingdom. He's with the Chenrong army out of loyalty. He is just extremely loyal to a fault.

Yes what I really like so far about the drama is its portrayal of XiaoLiu and XL relationship. It's dark, twisted, but at the same time very comforting. Their moment together felt both dangerous, yet safe and accepting. I felt that no one Xiao Liu know or ever know will be able to understand her the way XL does. They're kindled spirit, clothing that cut from the same cloth, lonely and "tortured" soul.

Do you feel this huge irony right now in the Qing town arc? That the person who treat her the worst, is the one that is the most honest with her? The other two are hiding their true selves, and in turn Xiao Liu do the same. But with XL, they lay out their heart bare for one another. XL came to her for her blood - but that's also when he's the most vulnerable. He can't do that without trust. But in return Xiao Liu also is the most honest with XL - about her feeling lonely, about her past. Both of which she had not share with the other two. In their twisted way, I believe they are "soulmate". But if they had met in better circumstances or had healthier relationship, they wouldn't be each other "soulmate". They are soulmate only because they are what they are. But because of the same reason, they can never be together.

I think that our FL is a really nice girl BECAUSE of her dark past. But I get what you mean. She's very cheery, talkative, but it's all a facade. This is a very typical trope in Cdrama land but their presentation of this personality is always borderline annoying and immature. But here you can see she have moments of dark thoughts mix in moments of good, which is much more realistic. You can be a good person despite having dark thoughts. It what you end up choosing to do that matter. You can be good without being perfect.

I agree. But at the same time I think they didn't need to tone down because the other two leads are not the endgame. The endgame guy is actually a perfect green flag, so the complexity of the other two must be present to make sense why she pick our endgame guy.

We're 4 episodes in and i'm already team Ye Shi Qi.
Yes I know people are coming after him saying he's boring and predictable. But man after that trauma inducing childhood, FL does NOT need anymore drama. He's exactly the type of man FL to heal her old wounds. Boring and predictable is NOT bad. And Deng Wei is selling YSQ so well, I'm falling in love all over again. Their chemistry is on point.

TSJ asked XL to stopped FL from getting married in exchanged for food and ration for his army. That's what XL said but deep down he probably wanted to stop it as well.

As for TSJ - he make up for his mistake later on. As for the pregnant thing - you'll have to watch it. But compare to what QX and XL did to FL, the TSJ is still the nicest.

Xiang Liu is not like either TTJ or DFQC. If they don't good-wash him then he retain a lot of his viciousness. But he's such a complicated character. He does a lot for FL without asking anything in return, or will ever to. A lot of people like this character not because he's good for FL, but because he's such a classic badboy. They like him because of the character. And on top of that, he's the character where FL is the most "herself" with. In a way, they are "soulmate" that never meant to be.
