Same sentiments. Like they really focused on these unnecessary characters that contribute absolutely nothing to the plot. I don't know what they were thinking. The flashbacks were really dragging and some supporting characters had too much screentime. Heck, even the boss has his own subplot. The supporting characters are waaaaay more developed than Jack and Zhaozi, which are supposed to be the second leads.

The director did say that. She said it was supposed to be a police drama. To be honest, if anyone was to be blamed it was the scriptwriters. The actors are great but the material they had to work with is....meh.

There are many reasons as to why this series is getting hate from Chinese and Taiwanese fans.

1. The whole "Ah De attempted rape" scene. Apparently some people didn't find that in their liking.

2. LiKe cp (Andy and Kenny) not getting enough screentime, They were promoted as 2nd leads but appeared only about 2-3 minutes per episode. Their character and relationship development is basically non-existent (and I myself am salty they were done dirty).

3. Too much time investment in other supporting characters. I felt like Hong Ye and Daoyi's relationship was handled way more nicely than the 2nd leads, which is really annoying. I honestly don't know what was the point of investing too much time on them.

4. Chris' misleading interview about having a bed scene on EP 17. This one is pretty self-explanatory lol.

The hate towards the director is too much that she had to disable commenting on her instagram account. I really do hope they stop attacking the director as this was out of her control.

Exactly. The things going on felt so disjointed from the main plot. Same sentiments. So many people (including myself as you can tell by my saltiness lol) think they were done dirty by only giving them 2-3 minute screentime. Their scenes were pretty difficult to shoot and they had to be in the promotions all the time too. I mean Jack's character in itself can be a very interesting story arc but they chose to ignore it. If they focused on the four leads, I really think they would've done a better job. But yes, they should've known better. They invested in the wrong characters and scenes, and now it seems so rushed wherein some episodes had a really slow pacing.

I agree. They had 20 episodes to sort this out. The pacing was all over the place. And so many filler scenes and characters as well. I really think they could've made this series better with the right choices, I really do. So many scenes about characters we really don't care about.

The second couple actually has a very large following (hence also a reason why the director is being attacked). They appeared like every other episode and whenever they do appear, they get like 2-3 minutes screentime. The fact that they incurred a large fanbase despite being on screen for a few minutes says a lot. They really had the potential and people just started realizing this in the recent episodes. I really think they were done dirty by this series.

The motivation. Like we got so many backstories with Tang Yi and we got nothing from Shaofei. It kinda seemed like his role diminished to a person who should stop Tang Yi from doing nasty things and I kinda dislike it. Shaofei's character had so much potential, but the development is still lacking.

The director said that the maximum duration LineTv set for them per week's episode is 45 minutes. Hence, why the longer episodes are usually followed by a very short one. The thing is, the division was much more balanced for the first half but for the second half, wasn't so much. To be honest, I felt like they rushed it after episode 12. It felt like a completely different series. Too many dragging flashbacks, unnecessary scenes, and really slow pacing. I felt like they invested in the wrong characters and scenes. They should've invested time for the main characters' development. I kinda feel like like they made Shaofei's character to a measly emotional support for Tang Yi. We don't even know why he's so hellbent on knowing what happened four years ago. Suddenly all his character cares about is Tang Yi, And don't get me started on the lack of development between Jack and Zhaozi. There were so many ways they could've gone with Jack's character but completely wasted his potential. His relationship development with Zhaozi is basically non-existent wherein we have supporting characters, like Hong Ye and Daoyi, who have a more decent development than them. I really wish we were given more episodes so they didn't have to resort to rushing.

No. It was a misunderstanding since Chris said in an interview there was an intense bed scene where he will let out his frustrations on Shaofei. It was overly exaggerated and hence the viewers had the wrong idea thinking last night was gonna have a bed scene. But there will be a bed scene for both cp, next week.

Exactly. Like they were developed and had such nice scenes but then they're suddenly tossed aside. Now it leaves the viewer to ask: "What's the point of their romance anyway?"

His character will grow on you lol. But yes, Jack and Zhaozi are couple goals. Domestic boyfriends indeed.

I mean flashbacks are good but if they don't contribute anything to the plot, then I don't know what's the use of including so many. And I'm honestly questioning the purpose of Daoyi and Hong Ye's characters. Like I feel like they just added them to make room for a hetero couple. And the fact that they developed them more than Jack and Zhaozi's romance, who are the second leads, pisses me off. If they would've edited it in a way where no filler scenes would be included, or at least remove the characters of Hong Ye and Daoyi. Unless there's a sudden twist, I don't think they deserve the screentime they were given. It would've been better to develop the other main characters and the plot.

Right? Like he didn't get my attention at first but his little smile and his eyes that involuntarily close whenever he smiles, it's so soft not too notice. I was whipped right away.

Exactly. Like the director knew since she said in their live she knew she was gonna get scolded due to the lack of screentime for Jack and Zhaozi. But she said she couldn't do anything as it was all dependent on the scriptwriters. It felt like they were queerbaiting in a BL, if that's even possible lol

I guess we'll have to get used to crumbs for Jack and Zhaozi's relationship development. With just 4 episodes left, I don't know if they'll be able to pull it off. I just hope we get at least a turning point to solidify their relation instead of solely basing their relationship on "food fluff". They deserve better. Heck, even Hong Ye and Daoyi had a more decent development. I hope all the promotions they went through were worth it.

I really wanna trust the writers that we'll get a decent development, but with 4 episodes left, I dunno. They're my favorite couple despite being done dirty, and I really don't want their relationship development to be rushed.
