Loving this series so far. The 2 leads are cute as a button. The story is lovely and so heartwarming and heart…
As an Asian who experienced something similar, I think it's kinda unfair to blame solely his mom, especially since she's a single mother.
I experienced something similar, that was seemingly a flu, when I was a toddler that my parents both failed to pick up on since they were busy with work. During childhood, I noticed that I didn't have the sense of smell, which I thought was simply normal for kids around my age. My parents only found out about it when I was in my teens and after a checkup they were able to confirm I indeed had no sense of smell and couldn't figure out how I lost it. The doctors assumed that maybe it was linked to this "illness", either way it was too late.
Long story short, I'm 28 now and I still don't have my sense of smell. It's not as bad as Kohei's loss of hearing but things happen. I wanted to blame people for it but what's done is done.
Apologies for the long-ass autobiography, I just connect really well with this series, probably that's why I'm so hooked with it lol.
Episode 2 was also pretty good. I hope the momentum continues until the finale because the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable, probably because they've worked closely together in another drama before.
On a side note, I'm surprised its rating is only 7.8. This might be my favorite BL drama of the year so far—am I missing something?
This show was an unexpected delight for me since I wasn't that huge of a fan of the first season. To anyone who is contemplating on watching this season because you didn't like the first season: please watch this! You definitely won't regret it. It's funny, it has heart, and the characters have much more depth than the first season. Thanks to this season, Ossan's Love skyrocketed to one of my favorite Japanese BL's of all time.
We're in the exact same boat. I neither loved nor hated the first season but absolutely loved this season (that…
Exactly! It kept the humor and all the good aspects of the first season but also made all the main characters (and supporting characters as well) have much more depth.
To be honest I never really wanted to watch this series cos of the old looking man I saw cos it’s strange to…
He was really odd in season 1 but he warmed up to me in season 2. Probably because he finally accepted the fact that he didn't stand a chance against Maki for Haruta's heart lol
This is the Ossan's Love sequel that turned me from a OL disliker to a big fan. I've always struggled with the…
We're in the exact same boat. I neither loved nor hated the first season but absolutely loved this season (that transformed it to arguably one of my favorite BL's of all time). I've always loved the humor and chemistry between Haruta and Maki but they really leveled it up here. They've both became mature when it comes to their relationship and it was so much fun watching them grow. Kurosawa, who annoyed me during the first season, also ended up being a comfort character of mine thanks to this season. Everything about this season in particular was just perfect. One minute you're laughing nonstop and the next you're crying real tears.
I say give it a chance. Despite the bittersweet ending, the entirety of the series felt very light and the end doesn't feel like a punch in the gut like your typical tragic drama. You'll be missing out if you decide to skip on this beautiful gem of a series.
This. I can understand and respect other people's decision to not watch this series due to its sad nature but…
Yes, I'm still here, unfortunately lol. And yes, despite the sad nature of this series, it didn't delve in it as much as I anticipated. Which is a good thing.
One of the best episodes I've seen in any drama. The dialogue, the cinematography, the acting, everything about…
Yup. Koichi Yamada (山田浩一) contains the symbol for hill (山), while Mitsuru Oumi (青海満) includes the word for the ocean (海). It was a reference during their first conversation, Koichi described his name as "ordinary". It carries into how he perceives himself, an unremarkable guy not unique enough to be anyone's number one. It's small details like these that make this series for me.
For those deciding not to watch this one, I respect your choice. The world is sad enough. However, if you decide…
This. I can understand and respect other people's decision to not watch this series due to its sad nature but I can't help but feel like they're potentially missing out on some excellent storytelling and drama overall. I usually also don't watch sad dramas like this but this one just peaked my interest from the very beginning. It was just too good to skip out on.

I always rewatch episode 3 until now. It has so much foreshadowing for the whole series in general, and just an overall great episode that encompasses what this whole series is all about. It's in the little things with the dialogue as well. One especially brilliant part was when they ask each other if they liked the ocean or mountain more. Micchan says he liked the mountains more but Koichi says he liked the ocean more. This was a nice touch since Koichi's last name was synonymous to mountains and Micchan's was synonymous to Ocean. It was subtle but it was a nice touch.
