Yeah. I think one issue is that we've not really heard the band play to see if the part of the series about making them famous is worthwhile. And quite a bit of time is spent reviewing their contract. Its dull. Sometimes series can succeed despite the fact that middle-class knowledge worker jobs are dull (see Cherry Magic). But really, the band is nice and doesn't cause problems. They don't seem to be hard to manage at all. And if young Janjao fails, well, she'll get another job.

It would probably be a better if instead of writing a sweet little love ballad, Duean Yi was commissioned to write a lusty party anthem celebrating whiskey and wild women. Sitting around waiting for inspiration for a love song in the coffee shop is o.k. I guess. He's like character number 500 in a romance who has to learn about "Love". But telling this particular character to spend some time frequenting the seedier side of town might be a hoot. Have Run give him $200 bucks and tell him not to come back until he's on a first name basis with a dozen strippers.

In terms of the Portkey rules, I think they do need to add some greater consequences to trying to go home and failing than "Talay doesn't see his mother again and is extremely wealthy in his new life".

They also could use something to explain why the switeroonies seem to be voluntarily keeping their status a secret. IDK. Like if the normies discover you, you become scooped up by some government agency and the press is censored, which is why its best to keep secret. Looks like there are dozens of these kinds of people, and you think a bunch of them would have been hauled by their familes to psychologists and someone would have written a best seller on Oprah or at least a youtube conspiracy theory about it.

"because I genuinely like them but found nothing much interesting in Talay and Puen's characters so far."That's…
I agree. We have external stakes for the leads, but not much in the way of internal stakes for them to complete this quest. All we know about Talay is that he's prone to working too hard, hates pink, sees people as colors and lacks a social filter that would help him avoid telling someone that they are the color of cow dung or making an ass out of himself on the movie set. Puen is famous but surprisingly cool when confronted by a strange fan in a bathroom. And he drives drunk. With the exception of the drunk driving issue, there's not much going on. I'm guessing that Puen seems like he's going to enjoy his new situation a more than Talay will.

The true test of this show will be ep3 as it will be carried entirely by Jimmy Sea.No more bad buddy cameos, no…
Feel a little sorry for Tun. He's been carrying the torch for Tess for years and now his body gets to be loved, and experience affection from Tess's body, which has never happened for him. Its kind of like History 1: My Hero, without the gender swap.

I do like the premise, because it gives the boys something to accomplish beyond falling in love. They have bigger problems to deal with. I see the potential for future drama (what if only one of them can return? What if they go back and find out that Tess and Tun have ruined their lives?! Or maybe keeping Tess and Tun together will become more important to them than their own needs and desires, so they decide to stay!). I hope they don't bog us down with rules. The rules right now are mostly unknown. I hope that they establish enough rules to keep the story honest and hold the characters to them. and that we don't get a new lecture from the Association president each week.

I can’t speak to the novel, but it sounds horrible. I don’t think I could have tolerated episode 6 if Vee…
Ugh. I just realized how awful that “how did you feel about me after we first had sex and how do you feel about me now” scene in ep 7 would play had they kept to the novel. Yuck.

This is a good remake of the original. I think it’s also way better than than the original novel. In the original…
I can’t speak to the novel, but it sounds horrible. I don’t think I could have tolerated episode 6 if Vee had raped Mark twice in the past then dared accuse Mark of being “easy” and having loose morals, my poor TV wouldn’t have survived the remote crashing through it.

I agree that they are handling Ploy and Vee’s departure kiss better this time. The first version was just dumb. Vee has never done anything that made me think that he actually loves Ploy so the idea that he needed one last kiss in a public place for emotional closure seemed contrived to force a breakup of the main couple.

Love Mechanics 2022 has all of the talent and none of the brains to use it well. After yet-another predictable…
IDK. I think they are doing a good job keeping Vee likable enough that we’ll continue watching him despite the fact that he’s an asshole. That’s not easy. And he is an asshole. Is he as bad as Ton? Probably not. But my god, they had to invent Ton just to make Vee acceptable by comparison.

I think all the other characters except Vee do see the train wreck coming, including Mark. That’s why whenever they find out about this affair, they scold, warn, threaten and finally violently hit Vee.

I wish less focus would be on Vee, and more on Mark. Why is he so desperate for a boyfriend that he’ll jump from falling head over heels for bar to falling head over heels for Vee? Vee is just an asshole who thinks that he can have his cake and eat it too. Mark doesn’t have to put up with it, but he does because he’s afraid of not having a boyfriend.

Vee was kissed without his consent and Nuea tells him he "shouldn't have let himself be in that situation". SHUT…
I understand where you are coming from. But we have a unusually privileged seat, and from where I’m sitting, Nuaj is right. Vee should have broken up with Ploy months ago. When he broke up with her he could have told her that he was dating someone. He could have called Mark right away when he was released from medical care. And if his phone was out of service, he could have had his friends who were with him call Mark. He then spent several hours strolling around with his ex girlfriend while everyone was frantically looking for him, apparently forgetting that Mark existed and would be waiting for him. If he calls Mark at any time, Mark would have come to be there with him. But he wasn’t thinking about Mark at all.

I guess I’ll give the writers credit for establishing in previous episodes that Vee never uses his phone when he should use his phone. It’s his most annoying flaw.

I don’t think he comes off any better in the remake than he did in the original. He’s lucky he didn’t have more friends, or he would have been beaten to death.

I was literally thinking “if any character in a drama deserves to be hit by a car, it’s this guy.” And low and behold, the god of BL cliches heard my prayer and made it so.

I am more of the opinion that it was poor execution rather than overused source material. People will be ok with…
Yeah. Part of it for me was that Dr. Pha wasn't very well characterized. They made him out to be a playboy party animal (and other characters mentioned this about him early on), but it turned out his biggest flaw was "workaholism." And suddenly when the entire village has dysentery, everyone criticizes him for working too hard and neglecting his personal life. Really? Like its o.k. for you to care about work at that point. Don't beat yourself up. We haven't actually seen you working hard at all until then. But wait - that's the reason now that you're breaking up with him?

Started episode 8 now. Can I just say that the village chief is an a*hole for not telling the hospital to Fah…
I get the sense that Sincere comes from the same noble social class as Prince, so both Fah and the chief are going to defer to him. That's the only thing I can think of to make Fah give up trying to find Prince's number or contacting him so easily.

O.K. Final review. This wasn't New's best work as a director, but I'm chalking it up to the very tired source material. There's just nothing about the story that's memorable. It's "that one that's like 1000 stars, but with a Prince as the Teacher". There wasn't a memorable theme song, much in the way of conflict, and we didn't learn anything new about the unfamiliar customs of the rural hills. We had an ultra wealthy doctor discover that he was in love with someone even wealthier and in an even higher social class than he, which could have been interesting and new, but everyone seemed to get over it in 30 seconds. Royalty in Thailand are just so down to earth, and approachable and Germany is some place close enough for a long weekend trip. Uh huh...you don't say?

Looks like Frigay at GMM is going on summer break. Hopefully they'll be back with something with a bit more bite on Fridays than what they've been offering since Bad Buddy.

I think we have to blame the author for the hair. i read the first chapter translated that someone sent to me and Sun describes himself when he introduces himself as having very short hair. Its the second thing he says about himself.

Yeah. I'm guessing that if they left off the tattoo or made it something more manageable for the make up artist to apply, there'd be equally loud complaints from the fans of the novel. Just like there were in Until We Meet Again. BL writers like them. BL production companies, not so much. So lets compromise and quit bitching about it.

Anyway, I 'm still waiting for the distinguished achievement in BL/Mafia series. One that balances the romance and the crime. This one is average for a genre that hasn't produced any series that work as mafia series. I think Kanmol runs his empire about as well as Tang-yi did in Trapped, and possibly better than Korn did in KinnPorche. Although I do wonder how it was he allowed Cherry to get so close without realizing she's the sister of another mob boss. I'd think that since Danmai is apparently a big enough deal that he can put together a counter bid for a casino, Kanmol would be aware of him. I'm guessing he's more of the "Real Estate Businessman who happens to use bribes and violence" than the gangster types who run diversified narcotics, weapons, smuggling, prostitution and protection rackets. Danmai is probably that kind. Kanmol kind of like Thana in 3 Will be Free.

I wonder if they told Boy Sompob that his song would be playing under a BDSM sex scene. This was the least horrible…
Since Boy is undergoing chemotherapy, let’s just hope the money from this speeds his recovery. Although it was a little incongruent for that song to be there.

I wonder why people don't like the series. Is it really THAT bad? In the teaser it looked okay. I'm most likely…
Ratings are often set on MyDramalist before a series is even released. For what its worth, this series is more highly rated than Between US, which has not even been shown anywhere yet. That said, the series itself hasn't developed its story much. It more like they got a good deal at a resort to shoot a series and all went off to have a long weekend enjoying the beach.

Yeah. I know it’s not my business because I’m not in their relationship. But the issue that surfaced during the fight was not resolved by either a punch to a jaw, Vee coming out publicly, or a romantic gesture on the beach. “I think you’re a slut, but only when I’m mad at you” needs a bit more of a talk through.

Yeah. I like this series, but thought it was funny how collected Mark was when he met Kan. He would have still been huffing mad from the adrelanline.
