I'm kinda regretful that Diesel's storyline kinda have to bleed into the first half of the episode so we weren't able to go that indepth into PureNamkang's storyline but I think they showed enough for us to understand the tight spot that Pure is in and the trade-off he's made in order to get people to watch/consume the art that he's passionate about. All of those tweets reflecting BL couples, fan service, hate towards real life partner of one half of a BL couple, that affecting the work of the koojin themselves ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ This episode ate so much with that. And yet I just know delusional shippers will be watching this and still not take away anything from this ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I'm glad that through this episode we see a little glimmer of hope in Bambi, that she isn't just a girl seeking superficial fame anymore but she has a set goal and took her time to do research in order to become a fashionista.

Dream/Diesel remain such a beautiful good girl/bad boy dynamic because tell me why I'm still delusionally rooting for their happy ending after their friendship probably crashed and burned in this episode ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ซ I know it isn't realistic but this is like the one case where I want Dream to keep on being a 'i can fix him' girl with Diesel. The chemistry that they have together even if we're just getting them through calls ๐Ÿ˜”โœŠ

i dont think so.. its a friend with benefits situation
Because he thinks what they have is mutual attraction since she also uses violence (in his mind, a form of showing love/affection) during sex with him

While the episode technically tried to tug at our heartstrings with the long-awaited reveal of how Thada and Armin…
I really appreciate the series giving us moments where Thada is just an absolute loser like him trying to do the frosting for Armin's birthday cake. And you can always tell from Armin's eyes that he truly appreciates why Thada does everything and so much for him. Especially when he tears up at the beach, it just makes perfect sense and I find them sooooo romantic

Rough Translation of Tootsy Review of Bambi
Source: https://x.com/tootsyreview/status/1941503708077928692?s=46

"Accept yourself and recognize your self-worth. Stop seeking validation from others, and you will find happiness in life."
An analysis of a person who has never liked any version of themselves, observed halfway through the series #TASTE (4 EPs).

- The character Bambi, played by #Mabelz_PiXXiE, offers viewers a wide range of perspectives throughout all 4 episodes. Her relentless pursuit to be "someone" leads her to countless experiences in life.

- She starts as someone without a fixed "taste," unsure of what she wants to do or who she wants to be. Everyone has the right to find themselves and take their time doing so. However, often, we act like Bambi: we observe what kind of person society approves of, and then we try to mold ourselves into that.

- Over the past 4 episodes, Bambi has created three personas: the famous TikToker known as the "Trash Princess" for wearing outfits made of trash; her attempt to become a singer, the artist behind the popular TikTok single 'DM'; and most recently, her work as a model, gaining attention for her beauty and stylish looks.

- But believe it or not, she doesn't like any version of herself, because she has never truly respected herself or loved who she is. She believes her first two venturesโ€”TikTok star and singerโ€”were failures. This is because she pays attention to every comment that critiques her, constantly deleting photos and erasing her old identities because she dislikes seeing others comment on her life. Yet, she never truly asks herself, "What do I like? And what have I liked about the things I've tried?"

- The opinions of othersโ€”whether they like or dislike usโ€”do not define our self-worth. But Bambi (and many people are like this) uses societal feedback as the sole determinant of her life's success, goodness, and appropriateness. She constantly uses the voices of others as a measuring stick for her own value.

- Honestly, we can't stop people's judgments, thoughts, or words. But if we care too much, if we take every word to heart, we will never respect any version of ourselves. We must face the truth: "We cannot make everyone like us." It is we, and only we, who must first learn to like and be proud of ourselves.

- If a gecko crosses our path three steps from our door, do we go back and change our clothes? Or do we trust our inner voice and confidently continue wearing that outfit? Waiting for others' approval to feel worthy is a mindset that hinders our self-development. When we try to move forward, we retreat because others disapprove, and thus we abandon that version of self-improvement.

- Because when others dislike what we do, we stop doing it. We undertake these actions only to gain their approval and acceptance, not because we genuinely enjoy doing them ourselves. This is Bambi's life, and that of many others, who might abandon their dreams, stop doing what they love, and cease self-discovery because societal voices haunt them, louder than their own hearts.

- We will always feel like we're doing something wrong if we constantly rely on others' opinions as our standard, because we lack self-belief and confidence in our actions. So, how much should we listen to others' voices? The answer is: listen to their voices as a second opinion, to gather ideas for improvement, to develop and adjust areas where you can still progress. Listen for feedback to apply, not to let it define your self-worth and use it as a 'ruler' to constantly beat yourself down.

- You will never know where the path you're on will lead if you never reach its end. And you might end up like young Bambi, who starts things and then quits, or stops abruptly because she doesn't truly persevere to learn if she loves it enough to develop it further. Sometimes, people don't always start with what they love. We might begin with good opportunities that come our way. If we are smart enough to seize them, maintain them, and practice them, one day, they might evolve into a successful path of self-creation.

- People often dislike their old selves when they've become a better, upgraded new version. But if you never like any version of yourself, no matter what you are or what you do, it might not be because your new version is better. It's because, up until now, you have never truly been proud of yourself. Take time to reflect on your life and find answers from within yourself, not from the distracting voices around you. That might finally lead you to a version of yourself you appreciate.

Go all the way. Respect your own voice. Do things for yourself. Don't let the voices of others undermine and disturb you to the point where you're afraid to move forward. How else will you know if that place truly suits you? And learn to be proud of yourself, because some of those criticizing you haven't even reached where you stand. So why give their opinions any weight?

And that is Bambi's problem... She represents someone who doesn't know how to love herself, and therefore never respects herself. She constantly lets others' voices echo, harming herself, and how can she find happiness if she doesn't respect herself?

Little useless rant (sorry๐Ÿ™)I get it. . . I really get it and I'm already grateful they will upload them, but…
I don't think one31 targeted international audience from the start. If they did, they would have sold this to international platforms like Netflix or iQIYI (or like how they sold this my local platforms so i could get sub at the same time) ๐Ÿ˜… feel sorry for english-only speakers, sending y'all courage until y'all get subs. you can think of it as language practice ๐Ÿฅฒ

Thoughts on EP 4
Dream and Diesel are actually so cute. It's too bad that Diesel literally killed a person with his bare hands . I don't think it'll be easy to cover it up this time as compared to when they hit the vendor at EP 1 . DieselDream is soooooo bad boy/good girl coded, I feel like they take me right back to Hormones era when I was sooooo rooting for WinKwan and Win got drunk and SA'ed his teacher. I feel like watching characters slowly trainwrecking themselves is a routine for Hormones watchers. I can't foresee any hopeful ending for them but I'll be delusional like I did with WinKwan til the end.

Pure continues to prove he's in fact BEST BOI but his relationship with Bambi is definitely getting exposed next ep and I feel bad for his koojin partner Namkhang already. Stalker fan harrasing BL actor and trying to "expose" that they have a girlfriend? Well well if this isn't art imitating life =))))))))))

Tokyo kinda disappeared in this EP and I'm sad we never knew if Tokyo learned that Bambi stole the credit for their styling work with Khun Duangtawan. But I'm gonna have to assume that they did and eventually they'll turn against Bambi.

It must be a reoccuring theme that everyone whom Bambi uses will eventually turn against her what with Mhong being a total asshole to Bambi this week and next week's preview of Diesel shouting at Bambi. Maybe the happy ending after all is Bambi being able to reconcile with Dream, who she's fallen out with. When Bambi shared Dream's post, I feel like there's still hope for this girl, she definitely hasn't been fully corrupted (yet).

I wonder what the story for Lukjan will be because I feel like atp she's written to be pretty shallow like a rich spoiled kid who only has her grandma (so we can kinda assume that she doesn't have parental love either), doesn't do emotional attachments with anyone and clearly just wants to be FWB with Diesel. Somewhat similar to Diesel so hopefully her story will be able to distinguish from his.

Diesel's episode paired with Tokyo's episode were pretty good for this week since they were able to juxtapose the situations of two kids who both want love from other people even though they were raised in contrasting environments, one filled with love and the other severely lacking it. And that affects their views on love and relationships in different ways.

Detailed thoughts on EP 3
The scenes we got between Dream/Diesel this ep were really cute. I love that she just straight up told him that she hates his dad so there's no need to hide that for later conflict. Their clashes in ideologies are gonna come into play later on but for now they REALLY give strong WinKwan vibes especially with Dream softening towards Diesel by the time she accepts his offer to book her a ride home.

Pure and Bambi are the most adorable and they're sooooo cute, I can just feel that this is their calm before the storm. I understand that Bambi is really ambitious but her ambitions are really gonna ruin her and destroy the friendships she's made ๐Ÿ˜“

Tokyo is sooooo precious. I love how they're such a supportive friend to Bambi which made me very frustrated to see Bambi uses that to her advantage. I love the way Taste has been using the narrator's voice to telll each character's background story and for this week Tokyo growing up in loving and accepting household was just so heartwarming. I think this is also an interesting way to set up their story because usually characters who seek love elsewhere are often portrayed to be ppl who grew up in broken families, ones lacking family/parental love. So this was a nice subversion to the trope, showing that even if you are surrounded by love and that you love yourself most, it still may not be enough and there will come times where you develop feelings for others and want others to return the sentiments.

I'm a bit sad that they haven't resolved or given us clues into whether Tokyo decides to go through with breast surgery or not but hopefully we get them more in next episodes and I also want to know whether they'll find out that Bambi had stolen styling credit in order to get that meeting with Khun Duangtawan.

I love the monologue Duangtawan made about fashion industry and taste. That and Tokyo talking about how fashion is a political statement were really great. NGL I didn't feel bad for Bambi had all for receiving that entire lesson from Duangtawan, felt like she really needed an adult to talk sense into her because she couldn't possibly enter the fashion industry if she wasn't serious with it like Tokyo was.

so they don't have this line in the korean version?
There wasn't that line and ML in the Korean version wasn't narrating right at the first episode, the way the Japanese version does it is a little different. Seems like ML is a bit more prominent in here than the Korean version

Nope. I'm watching Taste uncut with vietsub and I can attest the Youtube version is not missing anything because I tried matching the soft subtitles with it and its really the same. Maybe when the NC scenes come, One31 might shorten 2-3 secs of teens kissing or something like that but we'll see then. For now, it's the same ๐Ÿค—
