Most are fan of the drama then went and read the book over here. I guess you fall into the group of the book reader,…
Speaking from personal experience, book adaptations are always always disappointing, if you loved the book. (Unless it's BG romance and GuMan is writing the screenplay for her own book adaptation.) I loved WOH. I'm glad I held off reading the book until after I finished the drama. Because the book really was too straightforward. No filler scenes with side plots that became so repetitive in the drama that I started fast forwarding those scenes. For e.g. Yifu and his Xie'er.
I loved ZZH and GJ's version too but still wished they had kept ZZS more like the book. Chinese censorship rules have ruined more adaptations then I can count. Last year alone I dropped 4 dramas which were adapted from the books I loved. Its a pity I've read SPL and MoDu already...makes me really scared to get my expectations up for them. Both of these books have too many things inappropriate in the eyes of Chinese censorship. MoDu especially has very dark and disturbing cases that the leads investigate. Even the back story for the main character was very twisted. If they tone that down, it'll ruin the character and the plot completely.
Please stop posting leaks.it will only affect production and censorship issues.
Production is most likely leaking the photos themselves. That's how they keep the drama in buzz. Some fans were disappointed with the cast, costumes, etc. So this is their way to keep them interested.
Hey, can anyone tell me which platform provides better subs? Netflix or Youtube? I'd like to get the proper meaning…
YouTube version is better. It is pretty accurate to the original lines except for some grammatical mistakes and the poems. They had no choice about the poems as the actual words would make no sense to us so they translated the context of it. Netflix as usual removed most of the honorifics. And for this drama what the characters are calling each other is important as it shows their level of closeness. For e.g when ZZS calls WKX 'Lao Wen' that means he's accepted him as a companion, friend, etc.
Did the novel ever mention which one of Gu Yun’s eyes is blind ? Some fan arts show him wearing the monocle…
I think he goes blind in both eyes. Not completely blind though. He can see blurry thats why the monocle, he can still make things out with that until his condition gets worse. His medicine is part poison so he has been advised to avoid taking it until absolutely necessary. When the medicine starts wearing off he starts wearing the monocle.
It's been parked there for a few months now even before You're my glory....which is midway through airing right…
Yeah. Waiting has become so long its slowly killing my excitement for them. Then on the other side is Heaven Officials Blessing. They are killing me with their filming snaps everyday.
It's been parked there for a few months now even before You're my glory....which is midway through airing right…
No idea. But latest I heard is something might air on August 20. For now, some people believe it might be Immortality. In the end. which one is it going to be actually, only tencent knows. There's another problem with this drama that has come up recently. Many other celebrities names have been taken in connection with that whole Kris Wu mess. And Jing Boran is one of them. He has denied it and lodged a defamation suit against the people who started the rumors. I feel they will hold on airing this drama until his name is cleared or otherwise.

That rumor is for Immorality. It seems that drama is undergoing the final round of censorship which is required before you start promotions. Actually all of them are ready. But none of them will want to air right now. I heard that tencent, who funded all three, Winner is King, Immortality and League of noblemen is waiting for the verdict on Kris Wu thing. What's the connection? Because that thing is huge in China...everyone's attention is going to be on that and no high profile drama would want to air during that time...as there will be very little buzz about them if KW verdict comes out in the next 2 weeks.
Yeah that is also what I'm getting from the book. I'm currently reading it on google translate and I'm having…
Maybe the BL tag will limit the dramas viewership. Let's be honest, if there was no bl or shounen ai or yaoi tag on these dramas we will most likely not be watching them. Similarly, people who don't like BL/yaoi will not watch these dramas if they are promoted as bl dramas. If those very little bl elements from the novel have been removed by the drama, then Tencent will mostly try to sell this drama as a mystery solving costume drama...Which will then bring them a bigger audience.
Hi! Can someone who has read the novel spoil some best scene for me?I I heard this drama follow the novel so I…
They did not have any conflict after they get together. The main leads are pretty mature and understanding of each other. The conflict came before they got together and it was pretty realistic. It was not something unnecessary created just to make drama between them. It was a genuine concern about their life and future. For me the best scenes are when YuTu realizes he's being a dumbass and starts chasing JingJing.
Rumor said it will be premiered on August 9th on 10C.Let's wait.I've read the book, 张公案 -(The Mystery of…
Yeah that is also what I'm getting from the book. I'm currently reading it on google translate and I'm having such a hard time getting into it. Mysteries are so unnecessarily convoluted. And Zhang Ping is such a bland character in the book, I can't feel anything about him. I'm more interested in Lan Jue. His back story just started and I immediately got invested in his character. I just reached a part in the book where Zhang Ping realized that Lan Jue's feelings for Gu Qing Zhang were more than just friendship. So maybe it is bl but with very subtle hints.
nothing has been confirmed yet! I guess wishful thinking, but if I were to bet, I´d say they´d try to replace…
You're kidding me! WTH! I was so sure I read that its cleared and ready to air. God...are these censors making up new rules just to hold back these shows or what? Just let them air...anyone of them but please let them air it soon.
Yes the novel is bl but the drama will be most likely bromance.....maybe hidden hints like they did with Guardian and The untamed. Don't expect open flirting like in Word of honor.
nothing has been confirmed yet! I guess wishful thinking, but if I were to bet, I´d say they´d try to replace…
Not bad....Maybe it was too similar to Ancient Love Poetry....as same guy and his staff did both. Immortality was supposed to air first but instead ALP came first. The creators got worried it'll get mocked like yin yang master.

I've heard chinese bl/bromance dramas don't like to make too much noise before airing as it might put them under some unwanted scrutiny from the govt. That's the reason they just announce the airing date on the day of airing sometimes. To think this year was supposed to be the year of bls. 56 and more chinese bl adaptations were announced to be under way this year....8 or more were supposed to air this year alone.

I don't think it's going to be Immortality. Recently found out they are redoing their CGI. Rumored airing for that is next year. SPL is ready and waiting so that one might air first. Although, League of nobleman has also been ready for ages so that one is most likely. LON is also the only bromance among the 3 other 2 are bl adaptations.
It's not finished though, still ongoing. So far only 19 chapters have been translated. https://phoenixwalktranslations.com/the-mystery-of-zhang-gong/
Both were ready to air since April, I think. But WOH was still popular and airing. They didn't want to get effected by that. Then in May, Winner is King was rumoured to air but suddenly had to go through another round of censorship. They were asked to edit some stuff out which took away their window to air before the CCP 100 year celebrations in June. For now, its looks like Winner is King might also air around August or Sept. Lets hope it will air this year. About Immortality, it has one of the biggest budget BL drama has ever had. So Tencent who invested all that money and wants to earn back all that money...would pick to air it when it will have least competition. So most likely I think its going to be next year.
