One thing I was disappointed to see was Ito Akura smoking. Has no place in a 2020 production, given what we know about the dangers of this practice! Fore shame.
haha, aw, thanks! I haven't actually been writing for a while but I've been considering writing an (updated) article…
LOL! Someone`s parents has some explaining to do! Yes there are people in the world who resemble each other. I once perused a photography book that captured about 100 pairs. Some of them were eerily similar!
I call it the Japan haircut. It really makes the guys look so much less attractive than all the other Asian series.…
Oh you mean `Host Hair`! LOL! According to my sensibilities the Japanese men are the most attractive. So in the case of Raiku, I never get past his smile (gosh it is wide!) to notice his hairdo. He could have a black mop on his head and I would be the last to notice. Eyes and mouths are the focus points. Unless of course they are in a Speedo! (oh wait did that come out out loud?!)
Did I miss something? Is this the second part of a series? If not, how did it come about that Gook became Tae Joo’s bodyguard? And why is his father so mean?
Just to bring light to the conversation on anti-social personality disorder and Asperger’s Syndrome. They are two very different conditions. A person with antisocial personality disorder may: exploit, manipulate or violate the rights of others lack concern, regret or remorse about other people's distress behave irresponsibly and show disregard for normal social behaviour have difficulty sustaining long-term relationships be unable to control their anger lack guilt, or not learn from their mistakes blame others for problems on others These are the behaviours of a sociopath and it’s is the storybook writer who suffers from this. The mental health worker’s brother is somewhere on the autism spectrum meaning a difference in severity and resulting functionality. If it’s Asperger Syndrome he has then you can expect him to demonstrate deficits in communication, social skills and the reciprocity of feelings. He will be clueless to what his loved ones think or feel, and even when told, he can only see things from his point of view. With limited empathy for others, connecting with a loved one is extremely difficult-but not impossible! Yet it would not be surprising for him to go through life focused on meeting his own needs, remaining unaware of those of others.
Just wanted to clear up the difference between the two conditions. ?
The title is Five is Enough in reference to the number of children. our lead couple has. The character that Sung Hoon plays in this is hilarious and I have been following him since. I have not seen a family drama as heart warming as this one!
To laugh or not to laugh, that seems to be the question! I say yes do because it added so much to the story. It is essential to the character as it is a coping mechanism. Apparently this is the actor’s natural laugh and it’s infectious. There were so many things to like about this drama. It did not follow the usual trope with the chaebol grandmother- this one was adorable. I like the actress who played the 2nd wife - she does dragon ladies well. (Catch her in My Golden Life.) The actress who played the cool mom I adored in the Tailors of Wolgyesu, She was over the top kooky in that. The characters were well-developed and the storyline was solid. The chemistry between the leads was palpable. I would have loved to have seen a reel of outtakes because I would bet they had to interrupt filming often due to uncontrolled laughter! You just know he is going to make one heck of a daddy! It was a welcome sight to see Choi Jin Hyuk without a revolver handy. The scene of him as a DJ was mind-blowing. It was a shame he had no love interest, as he is one of the best on-screen kissers out there. (See Devilish Joy.) My favourite gag was the use of the song Que Sera playing on the car radio. That was brilliant. The humour is nicely balanced with the sadder elements. The happy ending a definite bonus. The only thing I would have improved upon were the speeches given when he was lauding his wife to the public. They came off as awkward for some reason and short on the FU element. I did watch the original version and found it, for lack of a better word, childish, Definitely one to put in your top 5 comedies and on your re-watch list. You will likely want to check out Jang Hyuk ‘s extensive body of work.
aaw yeah that song was nice too. I only found this version sung by him, is it the right one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTa1Z8Dk4P0
Thank-you that is the one! I am an audiophile first and this tune was just beautiful. Maybe you might know this- in I’m Not in Love With You, REN was in a band called the Setsunas. Were they a real band?
Thank you for this post! Can someone help me to identify the slow song sung by perhaps Chen Bolin, in ‘In Time With You’? Just a location to find it would be great. The ones I have heard on YouTube did not make me tear up so I continue my search. Please and thank-you!
I absolutely recommend this series of stories adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle’s work on Sherlock Holmes. You will not regret it. Each story is an episode in itself so I don’t believe you need to watch them in any particular order.
